Passing by and wondering if somebody could help me here.
I live in Honduras, Central America.
A drunk dude gave me a phone that is obviously stolen or found. It comes from Canada I guess, as this charming drunk man was Canadian.
The phone is pattern locked.
I thought about contacting the rightful owner and give kuddos do my soul but the chip is gone from it, so I can't contact any carrier.
I can just see that the owner name is Eddy (Eddy's phone)
What do I do with it ?
I'll be happy to give it back to his owner but hey ... if I can't find him, I'll be happy to use it too.
Any idea on both option?
Throw it away?

Hi, you can check the imei here:
https://m.sim-unlock.net/imei_check/Sony-Ericsson/
It will give you some informations about the device, maybe you will have the carrier or find it with the CDA code.

Anyway, downloaded the Flash tool to be able to identify the IMEI (no idea how to open this phone to look for a sticker with the IMEI and don't want to risk it), that's what I got:

The easy way to find the imei is to remove the sim tray and pull the small sticker from the slot
I checked the CDA code on Xperifirm for you but no luck. Maybe an user with the same code can say us from where it come.

I checked on some website for stolen phone and the IMEI is not registered as stolen or lost.
Well I guess if the guy was using one drive as I am he doesn't care about his data. And I have this phone for over 2 month now.
What do I do ... ? Can I pass by the pattern-lock and reset it?
I'll gladly use it, I decided to do a switch, my Iphone 5S is dead and I want to go for Android or Windows for obvious compatibility issues with my PC.
Note that I am not asking you to help me to do it, but to at east let me know if it is possible.
And I guess, we did our job and our souls are safe, let's unleash the power of this phone is MY hands hahaha

Now we are able to get the unlock code Xperia X10.
All those who tried before and got the code as unavailable, can now get the code for all X10 on any network worldwide.
This will be from the Sony Ericsson database.
The IMEI submission happens on every monday, and the codes are delivered weekly on thrusday and friday.
Am restricted to 80 IMEI's per week, so it will be on first come first serve basis.

I wouldn't trust ferraripassion. By the looks of his signature, he is from the same company that sold me a non-working code for my HTC Tattoo and stopped answering emails when I requested a refund.

I have done this, you need to ring o2 and ask for the the unlock code, they should give you it for free.
Then when you put a different network sim in your phone, it'll ask you for the code to unlock the phone.

They could NOT unlock my XPERIA P. Here I post the answer from mrunlock

i have since got my phone unlocked, it wasnt easy to find somewhere to do it, this is a hard device to unlock it seems, your best bet is getting in touch with the company your phones locked to, I got mine unlocked by o2 themselves free of charge, but thats because my ebay seller was very helpful and filled out a short form for me after i requested.

What kind of information does O2 need to unlock the phone?
I got in touch with my ebay seller (the original owner) and she filled out a form for me, im not too sure what details she had to put forward but i dont think its anything you could obtain unless you were the original owner, i was told however of another way around this but its not free. You have to get an o2 payg sim, top it up with like 20 pounds, make a few phone calls from the phone so it registers with your imei number, then with at least 15 pounds left submit an unlock form for payg sim to o2

What kind of advice is that? What the hell is GERMANOS? Are you a spammer?
Last few days I've been reading and searching the forum up and down, to find some useful info about how to bypass network lock.... so far I'm even more confused than I was before.
The problem: my phone is locked to specific network and doesn't work with sim card from another provider. Is it possible to unlock it so I can use it on other networks?
Is it solvable? Does rooting help?
I've read a few threads about s-off, is that the thing I need ?

They don't want to help me, because they want to force me to use their network sim while im out of my county, but roaming is way too expensive and cant afford it atm
Just ask around your area where you live and you'll find someone to sim unlock your phone (if not then try local market) or you could even buy the unlock code and do it yourself

First of all I'm new in android but I'm curious more than enough, and I want to learn things... It would be great if senior or more experienced members share their thoughts on what's right and what's wrong and eventually save me a lot of time and nerves. It's funny how there are so few threads about unlocking network ? Perhaps because it's the fastest way to make good money for some ppl ?
I do have experience in maintenance of Linux systems, but I have no previous experience in rooting/unlocking or what so ever related to smart phones.
So ..... It would be great if any senior/experienced members shared their knowledge/experience on this subject (how to unlock phone so it can be used on different providers.)
As far as I can see Hasoon2000 AIO kit makes rooting as simple as it can get.... but will that remove network lock? I don't need to install any other access privileged apps, demanding games.....

Rooting doesn't SIM unlock the phone. It's not related to it at all.

I already told you that. There are tools for other devices, but not ours. The network should give the code, follow up with them, otherwise buy a code.

Fracking network provider. They say they will void any warranty if I use any unlocking code.... this is turning into nightmare.....
This is the last time I'll put my signature on any of their papers for sure....

You can get the S58Data cleared via JTAG, that means your phone should be sim/network unlocked.
But you have to find some shop/person to have such a JTAG box...

btw. For all sin souls who bought phone from !!! carrier - VIP country - Macedonia !!!, avoid buying codes online, they are wrong, VIP operator has replaced original HTC codes with their own codes, which you can't have (they won't give them to you) ....

Just call the AT&T international support number and they will give you the code for free assuming the phone is clean.. There are links to the number as well as chat that takes less than a minute all over the 20 or so unlock threads all ready here.

How do you think everyone else has done it that is not with AT&T? Tell them you got the phone a gift and your about to travel to your providers area what ever that is and that you need it unlocked to use it in that area.

I called 4 times the AT & T support line which has very nice and friendly people there , but they cant give me an unlock code because my phone is not AT & T branded, the system doesn't give them out an unlock code when they got my Imei in it.
If your phone is not from at & t or one of their partners, dont try it it is useless.

Then who is your phone branded by? You should be able to put the IEMI number into Google and get back info on it. If it is not AT&T then you will have to go with one of the unlocking services that will charge you to do it and could take a few minutes to a few days.

MyLG Optimus E970 was factory unlocked and i bought it (in factory unlocked state) from US Ebay. I live in India. I was using it with India Airtel network without any constraint for past 2 months. Suddenly due to some messing up with its EFS or whatever (i dont know what i messed), it became hard-locked. Now, i cannot even unlock it by any purchased unlock code, since device shows message "This device is permanently blocked and cannot be unlocked". I tried Nexus conversion also, i converted successfully but of no use. The device is still hard-locked. Hence, i converted back to Optimus E970.
Now, i want guidance from all of you that what can i do to unlock it? Is there any way for me? or cell is waste piece? pls help....i have heard about Octopus box tool which can repair such case. But i am not able to find a single mobile shop here in Delhi India where i can get such repair person with Octopus Box. pls suggest what be solution to the mess that i have created for myself.....Any inputs will be appreciated.

yes bro i have same phone and was also facing same issue and it got resolved.. so chill buddy ..they are one of the best in delhi...i would say only one..

i want to ask details as in how much they charge for this particular problem?
and, will it be resolved in few hours or i have to deposit my phone to them?
