Sooo, I got Assistant on my G5 and it's making me very angry. I can no longer use OK Google to play music from my Play Music library. It always just searches and plays the command as a song from the radio portion of the app. Even if I specify "Play the album ___", it looks up the album name as a song. I can even say "Play songname from library" and it ignores the "from library" portion.
Anyone else run into this? It has completely ruined my commute and hands-free driving.
Not sure if this is a bug or a very dumb decision.
How did you got the assisstant already?

It is already available in select countries (and languages) for Marshmallow and Nougat.

It's a bug. We and many other got the same problem so wait for Google to release fix via Play services or Google app.
Sorry for the thread ressurection but I have been having this issue since I bought an original pixel XL two weeks ago. My wife's pixel was also fine but last night she noticed that it would completely ignore what was in the library and attempt to stream it instead. My Nexus 6p (Oreo) did not exhibit this problem either.
This is so frustrating. Like the OP, ruins the handsfree experience. I have spoke with tech support several times but suggest I send feedback (which I have). I'm hoping others are having this issue too.
searching this site for this exact problem. no matter what device now when you say ok google play Metallica - and justice for all or any album which is in my library it automatically will play the song on youtube or the radio stations in play music (you can choose which to open in the settings)
what is going on how can we change this??

So the one thing I really love to do on my phone nowadays is play music while doing many other errands. I have some favorite albums that lend themselves very well for gapless playback, that is the songs play without a pause in between.
I recently read that the latest versions of Google Play Music app has this feature but that it needs the latest version of Android. But it is not clear if it works even then as I read comments on the app store by people who claim it doesn't work blah blah even though they are on the latest and the greatest!
So, long story short, can someone please verify if this works for CM on our phone? Because I am all comfortably setup with Viper ROM and I don't want to unnecessarily flash CM if it doesn't currently work!
Thanks

I am using Google Play All Access. And it works (for the most part anyway.) I would make a nandroid backup via the recovery of your choice and try CyanogenMod. But that's just me. But I must say that on wake-up, there is a slight pause, on sound. (could only be media) can anyone else confirm this or is it only me?
On my Nexus 9, in the Google Play Store, when I try to watch the demo video for any app, it will only play about 1 second of the video. Anyone else have this problem? Please reply either way. I would like to know if its working for anyone else.
Thanks!
Same for me. I first thought it was WiFi sucking, but its too consistent, its a bug on n9, works fine on my nexus 5.
Thanks. I thought the same thing and I have also tested on the same WiFi with my Nexus 5, both running Android 5.0.1 and it works on Nexus 5. Anyone know if this has been reported?
Ditto. Nexus 7 on Lollipop. Same issue. Tried all the normal debugging methods with the play store and video players.

Ditto on Nexus 9 here also.
I have the issue on my Shield Tablet running 5.0.1
I went into the developer options and unticked use Nuplayer, rebooted, that got it working for a while before it stopped again.
Ticking and unticking that box now has no effect.
Nexus 9 on 5.0.1
I see I am not the only one that has this issue. I did notice that if you hit the settings icon lower right corner of the screen. You have an option to select quality which doesn't seem to stick. But it also has a youtube link that if you tap, takes you to the youtube app and plays the video just fine through the youtube app itself.
Also when listening to music through the google play music app, when it has an option to play the music video, the same thing happens .
I have tried messing with the NuPlayer and AwesomePlayer, rebooting etc. and can only get 1 video to play before its back to not playing again.
I saw that a similar issue was reported to google where no videos could be played but this seems different? Can anyone confirm if its the same or different? and/or if google is working on a fix?
Exact same issue here on Nexus 9. Videos play for about half a second then stop. This happens in Google Play store previews, and Google Music videos. I have tried everything, including restarts, clearing cache, deleting/reinstalling all related apps, adjusting Nuplayer setting, and even factory reset. My Nexus 5 has no problems, so it's clearly a Nexus 9 bug. I tried contacting Google and they gave me the typical 'turn your tablet off by holding the power button for a whooooole 2 seconds....' response. I'm a long time Nexus fan, but I do get tired of these bugs.
Anyone found a solution?
It's not just a Nexus 9 problem, I'd already posted it doesn't work on my Shield tablet and I upgraded my old N7 2012 to 5.0.2 yesterday and it doesn't work on that either.
I don't think there is any solution sadly.
Just uninstall latest youtube update from playstore and it will work fine again.
Stupid google didn't fix this issue yet.
Wow, uninstalling youtube updates actually did work! Thanks!
Worked for me too, thank you
Yup Really puzzles me why google didn't fix this yet.
My back cover was also flexing a bit around middle and upper right (when looking from the back side). That was a pretty easy fix. Now its solid as a rock. If anyone has that problem I could upload a fix on youtube.
Besides above problems, I absolutely love this device.. Imo it's hand down the best android tablet to date, despite these flaws.
If you upgrade to YouTube v10, this will also fox the problem.
If you don't see the update in the Play Store you can download it from APK Mirror.

Yes, I can confirm this. Installed latest YouTube update from the Play Store (10.03), now demo videos play fine.
Sent from my Nexus 9
Hi all,
I just picked up the T-Mobile variant and have not yet rooted or anything, however I am using the fix hifi dac app which a chap kindly posted on here and the play store.
I used to use the free version of podkicker however I have now purchased pocket casts. The issue I am having on my new V10 is that I will listen to a podcast for say 30minutes,then I come back to the same file later in the day to resume and both podkicker and pocket casts show the position as being 30mins in however when I hit play it aways goes back the beginning, has anyone else had this problem and know if it is unique to this phone or if there is some android issue I've not had previously?
I have searched on google and here but I have not been able to find the same issue anywhere.
Any help you can give would be appreciated!
Ps. Forgot to mention I've cleared cache and reinstalled the apps also, tried with different podcast files too!
Thanks
I have done more testing and it appears only happen with m4a files with mp3 unaffected.
Hello, i have a red VIVO Nex S. I have already remapped my button for Google assistant and got Nova launcher and deleted some chinese apps that were a bit useless. I also deleted video just because i couldn't decide which video app to use even if "mxPlayer" was set by default (no issues with it so far).
But i would like to use the music app, i am not a genius, but it seems that there is some western music and Japanese music. But every time i go to artist or songs, radio, playlist or even try to start a Chinese song, it doesn't work.
Anyone that can know why or have the same problem?
I have music downloaded to my storage. When I downloaded Amazon music player and tried opening songs, I got a message "Amazon needs storage permission."
I fixed it by allowing the music player storage permission: Settings\More Settings\Permission Management\Apps tab. Look for the music app and check for Storage permission.
Here is the iMusic app from the global model. Don't know if it helps, but you can try it.

Just install it like a apk. Whats version is yours? iMusic is here 4.2.0 and 1.0. If your is newer, than i am afraid you cannot install it.
6.0.06 and 1.0
None of them get installed
I also trier to delete the apps, but the small one got deleted and i can't install the one you sent me(so i don't have it anymore at all) amd the big one doesn't even get delete....
Do tou know a good music app that is kot called Spotify? Something like iMusic that is both internal player and online music app?
iMusic Arrangement
I recently just uploaded a music album into iMusic -Global version- and noticed that it arranges the tracks alphabetically NOT by track list number which is strange. I've tried everything I could possibly think of, but no result. If anyone came across this issue and was able to resolve it, please let me know
Thanks,
I also have notice that for some reason I have Google maps tracks... For example "in 200 meters.." Inside iMusic

Hello Jolly_Rofer, thanks for raising this issue. I encounter the same problem with my Vivo Nex S. Can anyone explain why the iMusic app does not play any songs?
Is roger... I typed wrongly ???
Ok, TL;DR: tts controls don't work on oreo.
Here's the long story. I use a tts engine and an ereader to listen to ebooks via headphones while I work. Have been doing it since the Galaxy S3. Have done on the S3, S5, S7, and S7 Edge with no problems ever. Then I switch to the Galaxy S9+. From day one, the tts functions work from the ereader app BUT, I cannot control playback from outside the app, and playback does not stop for any reason other than me pushing stop in the app. This is a problem. I listen to ebooks 8 hours a day and need to be able to pause playback with a touch of my headset/bluetooth. Always could before. Also need playback to pause when I get a call. Always did before. I have been banging on this issue for a few months and have come to only one conclusion. Oreo does NOT recognize TTS engines as media players. This is the only thing I can think of the explain this issue. And before you ask, I have tried with multiple tts engines, and multiple ereader apps. For the sake of clarity, I use the IVONA HQ TTS engine, with the Moon + Reader Pro ereader app. HOWEVER, this issue is identical regardless of what engine/ereader combo I use. I would go on, but I would be beating a dead horse at this point. I have no idea how to make this work. I have tried everything I can think of. Please help. :crying: :crying: :crying:
So I finally got in touch with Samsung, and I got an intelligent human for once, after explaining the problem in exhausting detail, they told me that my issue is fixed in the 8.1 oreo update, so I called my carrier and they said they are about a month away from releasing that update, stop here's hoping.
