Apologies but i am out of my depth and need some support. I have a Galaxy S3 and decided to root it as I can't resist looking for useful tweaks. I rooted it fine but only then realised that our good friends at Sky had barred me from using Sky Go. This was more important to me than the tweaks so I followed some web instructions on unrooting. Again, this seems to have been successful as tests and trying to use root apps fail. If I try to re-unroot, I am told that I am not rooted but here's the rub, Sky still says I am rooted!. As a last resort, I decided to do a factory re-set and before loading anything else, load Sky Go to see if the problem was solved.
As the restore began, I noticed a screen that I think was something to do with TWRP - I noticed that the words WIN.... were in the title and here was a recovery message. The screen was made up of blue graphics. The reset continued but without anything else loaded, Sky Go still said I was rooted. I can only assume that at some point during the root and un-root, the ROM was flashed with this other tool and it is this that is being detected by Sky Go. Am I right?
So, I would really appreciate some assistance as to how to get back to un-rooted stock ROM with no extras!
Any help gratefully received!
Thanks
Maybe just use something like this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.marutian.quickunroot
that's probably the solution for an app that doesn't work on a rooted device (I have the same issue with a local dutch tv provider app, solved with the mentioned app)
The other option (since removing SU from your current rom kinda failed) is flashing a new ROM with TWRP, just find a zip file for a ROM without SU/root

Thanks - The Quick Unroot option doesn't work as it can't find an SU binary file - 'spose it's because it's not rooted!
I flashed a new ROM (using ODIN) but I think that the recovery screen mentioned before and which appears at the strt of the re-set has also been added to the ROM and is the only thing I can think of that's causing this.
More suggestions please!
I own a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge 32gb, SM-G925F, got it on a contract with Orange France. The phone isn't fake, it is a genuine Samsung unit, I purchased it from an official Orange shop in France, it is network locked as I am on a contract. I rooted it with Ping Pong method, rom was supported and root was successful, knox was not tripped. As I gained access to root, I went and deleted just some bloatware, absolutely nothing critical, and I need to stress on that, from /system/app and system/priv-app. I then rebooted only to see that the phone went into a bootloop. I then went into recovery, wiped cache, that didn't help. I then wiped user data/reset the phone from recovery, no joy after this either. Further more I noticed that in recovery, at the bottom, "dm-verity verification failed..." is written down in yellow. The only way I could revive the phone was by flashing the stock rom again via Odin 3.10. So basically, while ping pong root works just fine, something else prevents it from being useful, as the phone does not like anything at all removed from its system files. Hopefully, all of this makes some sense and I will get some helpful advice here. Apologies if me posting this here breaks any of the forum rules, but I did post the same issue on the ping pong root post and I had no replies basically and also there was no resolution that I could see presented on the other "dm verity verification failed..." posts. So, many thanks in advance indeed for any helpful advice some of you bright minds out there might have for this.
and you flashed correct firmware..?

seems like some of the stuff you got rid of was critical to the os.
I has the same issue as yours. At first, I used the debloater tool and removed all apps listed here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/safe-to-debloat-s6-threads-t3090383. That caused the bootloops and dm-verity verification fail for me. I then noticed that when I used the tool, not all apps actually get removed even thought I instructed it to. So I used esf file explorer, mounted the system as r/w and then used its system app uninstaller to remove all the apps mentioned in the above thread. Its worked great for me. I think it has to do with some knox apps being left over when I used the first method.

Hello everyone
I have found a way to fix dm-verity and DRK issues and it works like official, meaning no errors in stock recovery and OTA works with Official firmware, the problem is related to corrupted/deleted 3 files on /efs partition. I have tested it on SM-N910C so I guess it works on other Exynos variants, perhaps even on snapdragon if the partition layout is similar? Kies won't restore DRK or dm-verity check because it doesn't write to EFS. I can fix yours if someone is interested via Team Viewer, you will need the following:
1. PM contact me for Skype ID
2. Stock rom, rooted (any root method)
3. Adb debugging enabled and drivers installed (Kies or SmartSwitch)
After repair you can enter your stock recovery and confirm there is no DRK/dm-verity red letters error.

This is for both US Cellular Samsung S6 and S6 Edge variant. Thanks also goes to @g.lewarne for his work on Unikernel as a couple of their ramdisk/kernel commits were needed to get this going. Also, thanks to @datajosh for this template And @bpdev for testing the 925R4 version...
This will trip KNOX. It will. Trip. KNOX. IF YOU HAVE NOT TRIPPED KNOX YET - THIS WILL TRIP IT. ALSO - you CANNOT downgrade after you take the OTA so be sure you want it.
I hope that's clear enough?
Instructions:
After you've booted into OF7, go to Settings > About device and tap Build number 7 times to enable Developer Mode.
Go back and select Developer options and turn on OEM unlocking
Reboot in to download mode (Power + Home + Volume Down)
Use ODIN to flash 925R4root.tar or 920R4root.tar (depending on your device)
After your phone boots you will now have root!
If you notice constant messages about security issues because of KNOX and the kernel being permissive. To get rid of these, open Titanium Backup (or your personal favorite app freezing app) and freeze SecurityLogAgent.

ENJOY!
Man I wish we could just find a damn exploit already lol gone this long without tripping Knox. And with the fact that I've received the "Fingerprint scanner has encountered an error, use your backup password." error 4-5x already I'm worried about tripping Knox, although you'd think they'd still fix that considering just rooting shouldn't break the scanner lol.
So this requires me to stay on that kernel huh? I couldn't go back to stock kernel huh?

You could go back to the stock kernel, but you would loose root. Also as stated above you would trip knox.
someone on a sprint s5 edge said the only thing they noticed didnt work was data..just posting for them since they under 10 post..so thats awesome! if we could get data goin..we can have root!!

Does this method then require flashing a custom recovery then SuperSU.zip (or CF Auto Root)? Just curious because all that's in the .rar is a boot.img and some are having issues with following the method and not having root immediately.

I reflashed back to stock, then installed supersu. Then opened it up, obviously it said "supersu binary not installed". Next, I flashed this kernel and once booted up supersu still repeats the previous message. In addition, root checker shows that phone is not rooted.
The only thing in the .tar file, for 920r4 at least because that's all I downloaded, is a modified kernel. Nothing about SuperSU or its binaries. This method alone does not root. This merely installs a modified SELinux permissive stock kernel. More steps are necessary to obtain root. You must flash either CF Auto Root or a custom kernel + SuperSU.zip.
Bump? Nobody? OP, amirite? Because the method you describe, and thank you so much for the SELinux permissive kernel, does not complete all of the steps between stock and fully rooted.

This does indeed work. Thank you so much!
Edit...Added instructions I used to complete the root process.
First of all, I wanted to thank the OP of this thread for posting this guide and getting me headed in the right direction.
Credit to @djvoleur
I just wanted to share the method I used to root my USC Galaxy S6 with the Android 5.1.1 update. You will notice that the instructions are similar in the beginning. I added the extra steps that I used to complete the root process. I do not know if this method works for the Edge version.
As the OP states: This will trip knox. Personally, it doesn’t matter to me. I am too impatient and too much of a flash-a-holic to wait for a method that doesn’t trip knox.
Also, I am not a dev and I am unable to answer any questions other than how I obtained root. I am not responsible for any damage that might happen to your phone. Follow this procedure at your own risk.
Having stated these disclaimers, it really isn’t very difficult to implement. I’ve done it twice and both times worked perfectly.
Files you will need for flashing in Odin:
Odin 3.10.7 found here: http://tinyurl.com/puyq4v9
Rooted kernel 920R4root.tar found in the OP.
TWRP 2.7.8.0 (Sprint version, but I can confirm it worked for me. YMMV.) Here: http://tinyurl.com/phvrkaf
Files for flashing in TWRP:
Updated V-Kernel 920R4-071615.zip found here: http://tinyurl.com/o2h8rv4
Super SU v2.49 (beta) found here: http://tinyurl.com/or6mmqr
Now, PLEASE read these instructions before starting so that you will have a good understanding of what to do. After reading, you may begin.
Don’t forget to put the files for flashing in TWRP on your SD card (phone) before beginning this process.
After you've booted into OF7, go to Settings > About device and tap Build number 7 times to enable Developer Mode.
Go back and select Developer options and turn on OEM unlocking
Boot into download mode (Power + Home + Volume Down)
Use ODIN to flash 920R4root.tar
Use ODIN to flash TWRP and make sure that reboot is NOT checked in options.
Unplug the phone and hold the Power + Volume Down key to reboot. When the screen goes blank, quickly hold the Power + Home + Volume Up key to boot into TWRP. If it doesn’t boot to TWRP, you may have to start over.
In TWRP flash the updated V-Kernel file first, then the Super SU file, and then reboot.
After your phone boots you will now have root!
If you notice constant messages about security issues because of KNOX and the kernel being permissive. To get rid of these, open Titanium Backup (or your personal favorite app freezing app) and freeze SecurityLogAgent. (Worked for me.)
You now should be able to install Chainfire's Super SU app from the Play Store, and you can also use Root Checker to confirm you are rooted.
Good Luck!
Would this work on G920R7... J4 (rather than OF7) 5.1.1? That's what I have.
I see there is a PC1 update available also for my G920R7 which is 6.0 marshmallow.
Hard to believe I've had this device for a year with no root... Anyone can help me get this rooted? Thanks!

Dear Experts,
I wanted to update Google play services and Chrome on a Galaxy S3 phone.
I have done this many many times before. Now when I tap the .apk files,
I am immediately getting an error - 'App not installed'
Surprisingly - it happens for both Google play services and Chrome. I tried
another .apk file and it installed fine !!
I tried to free some more space in the Internal memory, I also went to wipe
the cache from the Recovery menu, but none of that helped and now I am
out of ideas! Please help me!
Many thanks!

Yeah, I know the Gapps, as I have been flashing those on my Galaxy Note 3. But the S3 is perfect as it is and I am not planning on rooting it.
How do I get the checksum of the apk from the server ? I just thought, that the cause is a defective USB cable, because it's exactly those 2 apk's which I copied the last time. But just now I've tried another cable and unfortunately, the result is still the same
Please kindly provide a solution...
You no need root
Only flash custom recovery to force update google play service imo or reflash and use backuped data from google account (if you have).
I assuming, you dont have warranty void ?
For the second question use http://code.kliu.org/hashcheck/ and search md5,sha, ect.

Thanks for your reply! The phone has max. 2-3 weeks more warranty.
But just I don't feel like rooting it, because it's perfect as it is (except
for being very slow, but I guess with only 1 GB RAM this is no surprise).
4.3 is, in my opinion, the best looking Android version !! The next ones
are extremely ugly with the white background, round icons and iPhone
like on-off switches, really terrible!
Is it possible to flash a custom recovery without rooting ? I guess I need to use USB debug mode and Odin from PC ? On my other phone - I first
rooted it, then I flashed the latest TWRP with Flashify and it was a very
quick procedure.
Actually what mostly worries me - could the cause for Google play
services and Chrome failing to install be some virus/malware ? What
can I do in order to rule this out ?
Many thanks for replying and helping me with this issue.
If you use odin you no need root or usb debugging mode (dont know why people use that- its do nothing)
After you flash custom recovery, you may trigger knox (Triangle Away reset flash counter but not knox). You dont get virus without permission - never use antivirus (its bad for speed of phone).
You tried clean settings that apps ? Last hope - hard reset.
Yes, but somebody has installed quite a few apps and as far as I can see, everyting that popped on the screen has been agreed to :-/ This is why I'm afraid of malware

Get your specific versions of apks from apkmirror. They are copies of the genuine files. App not installed can be signature mismatch or signature conflict.

If you have been hit with the 60% Battery Limit Update for the AT&T Note 7 SM-930A
Please use the following guide to fix it.
USE AT OWN RISK, I CAN CONFIRM WORKING FOR ME, FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED.
NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY FAILURE TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS, BASIC RESEARCH, BRICKED PHONES.
FIRST:
Download the firmware provided by
Miguelina Betty
A HUGE SHOUT OUT AND THANK YOU TO THIS USER FOR HER WONDERFUL SERVICE AND ADDITION TO THE COMMUNITY. BECAUSE OF HER WE HAVE OUR NOTE 7 BACK FOR AT&T
h t t p s ://drive.google(DOT)com/open?id=0B0OZuhSvD25GSDBtZ0xuRk9oRHM
SECOND:
Now that you have downloaded the BL, AP, CP, CSC Files, Follow the instructions Layed out in this Post:
www(DOT)n7r(DOT)co/topic/103-restore-to-100-back-from-60-battery-using-old-firmware-step-by-step-guide-n7r-approved/
FOR AT&T NOTE 7 USERS (SM-N930A) USE ODIN VERSION 3.12.3 (LATEST VERSION OF ODIN)
THIRD:
As a safety precaution, BACK UP EVERYTHING!
FOURTH:
IN ODIN, ONLY LOAD THE AP FILE. IF YOU LOAD ALL THE OTHER FILES, YOU WILL HAVE ALL YOUR DATA ERASED.
FIFTH:
If you have followed the instructions, your phone will reboot and you will have 100% charge capabilities. If you have the original Note 7, you will have 1 or 2 warnings while startup or charger plug in. If you have the replacement Note 7, you will have the green battery icon and your good to go. Both will get the 100% charge capability.
SIXTH:
If you want all your data erased and start with a clean phone, use all the files in ODIN as described in the post.
SEVENTH:
I have just performed this myself and confirm that it is working.
EIGHT:
Use either EZ Disabler or Package Disabler PRO to disable anything that would cause the phone to software update again. Follow instructions for this by researching, searching google, reading the forums etc.
FLASHING ONLY THE AP FILE WILL KEEP YOUR DATA INTACT BUT CAUSE SAMSUNG APPS TO STOP WORKING. YOU WILL STILL HAVE EVERYTHING ELSE WORKING AND 100% BATTERY. BUT FLASHING ALL THE FILES BL, AP, CP, CSC WILL ERASE ALL YOUR DATA, START WITH A BRAND NEW FACTORY STOCK WITH SAMSUNG APPS WORKING. YOU CAN ALWAYS FULL FLASH YOUR PHONE AT A LATER TIME AS LONG AS YOU MAKE SURE TO DISABLE ANY FUTURE UPDATES
Thanks to ALL THAT HAVE MADE THIS POSSIBLE!
Special Shout out to
Vito Nobile Fidanza
For making this guide possible!
Works great!!!
11/12/16 - I can verify that this works great! I was hit with the 60% cap and i just flashed only the AP file, then made sure to disable the OTA updates using Package Disabler Pro. Nothing on my phone was erased and I just successfully charged my phone to 100%. Thank you so much for this! My note 7 gets less hot than my wifes s7, so not worried at all. Glad to have my phone back to normal!!

Yes, from what I have learned so far, which I am still trying to investigate:
Flashing ONLY the AP file will save all the data, give back 100% charge capability with everything working perfectly.
EXCEPT SAMSUNG APPS. (S Health, Samsung PAY etc)
Flashing ALL the files, BL AP CP CSC will erase all the data, overwrite bootloader, firmware, modem and basically perform a factory data reset for original home and phone settings. This method allows you to start with a brand new phone, with samsung apps working.
I am waiting on confirmation with someone who flashed all the files.
But for now, its not a great loss because we get 100% battery back.
Worse comes to Worse, you can always back up your data, repeat the process and flash ALL the files and have your samsung apps back. Either way, data gone samsung apps......or data intact with no samsung apps.....100% battery is back.
CONFIRMED: A friend with SM-N930A who followed my method but FLASHED ALL THE FILES: BL, AP, CP, CSC Lost ALL HER DATA, Started with a fresh brand new phone....WITH SAMSUNG APPS WORKING.
Now comes personal choice

Looks like the latest version of Package Disabler has taken away the ability to stop updates. When I flashed my phone it immediately went to auto download the battery update and I was back where I started. Though I really want this phone its becoming more hassle than its worth. If someone knows how to stop the update I'm all ears.

After the battery update, my battery show over 60% in white color instead of 60% below; with the popup of Safety Warning. Is my battery level showing fake or it still keeping the original?

I installed and it kept the pop up saying Logging in at "Please wait for license activation" and nothing else to do
Tog have to manually add the last package to the list
Just tried this method and i can confirm it is working.
Does anyone have previous version rom so we could get rid of the nagging popup on original phones?
Also, your SECOND should be FORTH, because after second the FORTH is too late, heck the THIRD is too late...
