Short battery backup - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hey, I've a very short battery backup, on an average one percent lasts 3 minutes with less than 1/4 brightness, I'm running MIUI developer ROM(global beta/ weekly).
I'm running stock kernel.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks :good:

Nitrogen os stable build + radon 4.0V is best combination so far. I havent faced any major fc's except on camera and flash light which will be fixed only when xiaomi release their source code for nougat kernel which in my opinion is not happening anytime soon

I've installed nitrogen os with the stock kernel and there's a huge improvement. I want to ask that does changing kernels really work?

Yes, gives you alot of options to tweak. Also it fix some issues with the goodix fp.

I got 14h SoT yesterday on NOS
By the way, you should use stock kernel with it...it has all tweaks you need

Need Suggestions

Hi friends,
First of all I would like to thank all the developers, testers and members of the forum. It is good to see that new roms, kernels are still being developed.
I just got a Note 3 few days back and I want to gain max from it in terms of balance/battery performance along with some customizations. Although I am familiar with the concept of rooting etc but in a simpler way. Like I have Nexus 7 2013 and there is a tool called Wugfresh NexusTool Kit. It does all things by itself and I just have to download roms or update the ToolKit.
I do not want to try many roms or kernels to find a right one for me. So consider this as a review suggestion for Rom+Kernel Combo. Now, What I need is :
1a. Volte must work,
1b. FP must work,
1c. Xposed Framework should work for greenify/adaway etc (preferred choice)
1d. Battery should not drain more than stock else no point flashing custom rom for me.
1e. Signal should be stable & wifi/hotspot work without problem as I use this device solely for WifiHotspot.
1f. Should be stable but I can adjust with less important bugs like Reading Light, Lite Mode setting etc. I dont need them.
1g. Feature rich.
1h. Rom should use least resources/ram etc and have no bloatwares.
So, kindly help me in finding a stable Rom+Kernel combo. My device is Kenzo(Snapdragon) with the latest stock MIUI 8.1.1.0 Rom and FP is FPC. Also, I do not have micro sd card so I can take back up of phone on the phone itself. I would also like to know about the process of successfully using f2fs format on Note 3. So friends, I am awaiting your kind suggestions.
Thank you.

If you want Xposed, you can't have Nougat, there's no Xposed for it. Radon kernel and the ROM I linked to is a good combination.
You can try RR Remix Rom + Radon kernel. Its a great combo with lots of feature, good battery life and stable for daily use. If you want Xposed than flash MM version of RR Remix Rom cause Nougat Rom does not support Xposed as of now.

Thanks but in Lineage OS 13(very good rom), people are still reporting bugs. I prefer a stable rom with almost no bugs.

Thanks, but which rom supports substratum and vulcan, if not RR Remix?
And which Recovery would be good, ZCX or Official TWRP 3.0.2.2?

Hi, I just came to know that volte doesn't work on CM marshmallow properly, it is true?

What's the best custom ROM right now?

As mentioned in the title, I'd like to know which is the best custom ROM option right now.
My device: RN3 SE (kate)
Depends on what your idea of "best" is:
Stability, battery life, speed or having the latest Android version.
You can't have them all in one ROM.
Mokee
there is no "best" rom!
each rom is made for people with different needs from a ROM! in stability and being fast most of them are almost the same because all are based on Lineage OS
Right now I stick to xiaomi.eu ROM. Everything works as expected. Lineage ROM suffers several camera and torch bugs.
Tired of trying Roms ?

You can with LineageOS 13 - latest Security-Level - all is running perfect, camera perfect and battery-life is amazing.
I use LOS13 for over a month now and not only one bug found. It is much better than MIUI!

Camera flash bugs?
No, because it uses same source then MIUI! No bugs at all...
I would recommend you Resurrection Remix, if you want features and customisations, but NitrogenOS is also good, it has most stable camera among nougat roms.

ROM for 2gb kenzo

Hello there! I am looking for the fastest rom for 2gb variant of kenzo. It can even be a marshmallow, nougat or Oreo. Every rom I tried was working poorly after a week or so.
What rom will be the most stable/fast working? Thanks!

My phone shuts down randomly while running AEX. This is the only rom that gives me such problems. Do you have any idea why? Or if there is any good rom you could recommend?

if you are using latest AEX, then please look at the version 5.4 which is stable for daily usage. 5.6 has some problem as it is based on new device tree .
Mcaosp latest + Agni 12.9 is also a very good option you can try it. mcaosp latest has very good battery backup. always clean flash the os . Use gaaps by Mcaosp also .

What Custom Kernel Are You Using?

So, there are some custom kernels available for the Poco and I just want to ask the community which of them are you using and why?
Franco kernel.. ever since its 1st release up.to thw latest r17 release.. simply smooth.. fluid for gaming..no hangs or lags or hiccups what so ever.. even though it doesnt give you a high antutu score. Only about 275-280k.. this kernel is stable. And battery friendly without hogging too much battery
Derp Kernel, simply, clean, great battery life and overall feels really smooth I can tell.
I'm coming from FrancoKernel too, and I was getting worse battery life, besides, when I flashed Derp Kernel I felt the device smoother than before with FK, maybe this is a placebo effect, maybe, everyone should give it a try.
Derp or sphinx???
Shadow is good but most of the kernels for poco are

I actually don't flashed any kernel but With my current daily driver Nitrogen OS I got NitroKernel + which gives me actually better battery than Stock kernel when using thermal mode in Nitrogen os settings that help me greatly. I will say try this nitrogen rom with its own kernel and I'll say you'll never need to look for any othe kernel.

+1 for Nitrogen and Nitro Kernel. Stable rom, great kernel. I used sphinx before, also stable and great battery life. But after last update, I'm too lazy to flash another kernel.

Damn screen freezes!

Im still getting screen freezes on my poco with FTS_ts touch display panel. Apparently the problem is solved in latest miui stable and betas. Nomatter which new vendor/firnware i use its still happening, so the fix must be somewhere else.
Can this be fixed by custom rom developpers? Is it something even in the works? Will kernels in custom roms get the new touch firmware from 9.3.14 or 10.2.3?
Its really getting unbearabke having to close and reopen the screen all the time to get regular usage.
10.2.3 Vendor is very old
9.3.14 Vendor is old for Pie you need a version hier than that

We need an indoustrious developper to bring the kernel fix to custom roms,
Some developper that has an fts panel with problems or if xiaomi releases the fix.
Is anyone up to the challenge??????

Hey im actually running latest Pixel Experience with vendor/firmware 9.3.21 and the kernel from miui 9.3.21(extracyed boot.img from full rom) and everything is going good , no freezes, pubg is good and.good SOT.
I tried it with crdroid the rom i like the most and it dint work, so not sure it will work with LOS, but PE it does.
GUYS we got a workaround!!!! follow here in this part of the LOS thread @youssefhf there is a kernel for LOS

Mine freezes, too.
After what I read here, is it the kernel? I'm using Franco Kernel since forever and used it with all the ROMs I tested on the Poco F1 (AOSPExtended, AOSiP, HAVOC) and this problem is escalating. Just a few minutes ago i wasn't able to put my pin in after a reboot. Turning screen on and off didn't work as it does sometimes. I was able to put the pin in one time, but then I couldn't confirm it. I had to reboot again to put it in and confirm. I am always using the latest vendor/firmware but it didn't get better. It got even worse in time.
Is it the Franco Kernel? Or AOSP ROMs? Would be great if I could keep using the kernel, but if there's no other way...

Hey! I'm using AOSiP with Franco Kernel at the moment. I'd like to keep using it because I prefer AOSP ROMs over LOS / LOS based ROMs. So from what I have read I guess it really is a a kernel Issue if it works with the kernels provided in the post you mentioned.
Maybe it is possible to make a kernel for AOSiP ROM or maybe Franco can make a modified version of his kernel for people having this problems.
