I don't understand why that would allow for more G2 roms?
I've seen a lot about our the optimus g being able to use nexus 4 roms..the Nexus 5 is more similar. So we MAY be able to use N5 roms

Yes it is, but they're having an issue with Snapdragon 800 chipsets so its flagged not compatible right now.
