Has anyone tried using an external USB OTG DAC with the Honor 5X (L24)? Have you guys encountered any issues?
I recently bought a FiiO E17K to use with my 5X running the March 8, 2017 build of LineageOS 14.1, but there is a lot of stuttering. The phone attempts to output 24-bit 96 kHz data by upsampling whatever's playing instead of sticking with the source file properties. However, other Android devices I've tested (Galaxy Tab S2 and some other Galaxy tablet) work fine at 24/96, so the issue seems specific to my phone.
One stop-gap solution is to purchase USB Audio Player PRO on the Google Play Store which uses its own USB audio driver, but it is not a satisfactory solution considering other devices work fine with the stock Android USB audio driver.
Is there a way to set the Android audio system to output only 16-bit 48 kHz audio? If not, has anyone had success with another build or ROM?
U found it in which rom?

As it was reported for Galaxy S III on 4.0.4 there is USB Audio snd-usb-audio usb class audio driver present. and it enables the phone to stream digital audio directly to external DAC for perfect audio quality.

I badly want this as well. I have a locked (but rooted) bootloader Ray so my options are limited in terms of JB roms but I also have a Phillips S351 which supports USB audio, it would be great if there were a patch or a port or something.
I'm using FXP's CyanogenMod CM10 and I've got an audio.usb.defaut.so file in /system/lib/hw ....if someone (with an unlocked rooted phone) has one of these USB DAC's thingies then this might worth testing....
Hello,
I'm trying to get higher quality audio input (sample width and conditioning, don't care about sampling rate above 32k) than is available through the microphone jack and was looking for an overview of where the development of such capabilites stands today. From what I gather:
Android 3.1 (maybe 3.2) added some support for USB Audio, though I can find almost no details on the capabilities. I can't post links, but a post on computeraudiophile with google search terms "usb audio enabled galaxy s3" claims support for a bunch of USB DACs on the Galaxy S3, but there is no mention of using the ADC.
Android 4.1 added support for USB audio docks -- these are generally (as far as I can find) speaker systems with a USB cable -- which only support audio output.
Software such as USB Audio Recorder Pro can record from a number of devices but this is of no use to a developer wishing to get the data into a separate application.
Lots of devices have HDMI ports but I found nothing about anyone managing HDMI input.
I can't find any such device for Bluetooth, but also nothing suggesting that it isn't possible. If so, can anyone speculate on audio quality limitations?
Now, I understand that the vast majority of users who want USB audio want output so it can go to their speakers, but there are some who need the other direction (or both...). Can anyone more familiar with the subject comment on the state of external audio input on Android devices?
Thanks,
Ben
The Galaxy S3 I was using as an mp3 player died, so I'm looking for a new music player. I was outputting to a Fiio E07K via USB OTG and would prefer to continue to do so.
I know that Lollipop should bring native support for USB audio out (as far as I understand, it varies from device-to-device because of software), but I was wondering if anyone could confirm that a similar setup with their Moto E works.
Thanks!
I'm using a LeTV x900 (or Le Max), which sports the Snapdragon 810 as well as USB Type C.
I'm using a USB-C to HDMI MHL adapter (made specifically for this brand of phone) to output audio to my yamaha receiver, as I want to listen to DTS tracks on my home stereo. The receiver sees the HDMI signal from my phone. I use MX Player, which plays the DTS tracks fine (I have the one with DTS support and the right codecs installed), which plays the files just fine. Yet for some reason the receiver is only receiving a stereo signal, so its only giving me 2.0 sound, not see any more than 2 channels in the first place. I'd like to at least play 5.1 (if not 7.1) files. I can't for the life of me figure out what step I'm missing. I even went so far as to install Dolby Atmos on android but that was a no go too. Any ideas?
hi guys
iv got myself a hifime dac so i could run my audio out of my usb on my ZU into a car stereo but im not getting audio thru the dac, i thought maybe it was the firmware so set about flashing a custom rom (which ive not done in a long time) managed to get the hybrid concept rom installed and tried again but with the same results
basically the power light on the dac lights up and the 3.5mm jack port lights up read but when i plug in either headphones or my home stereo no audio is coming out
am i missing something silly?
and i just plugged the dac into my s7 edge and it works just fine
s7 is on android 7.0
zu is on 5.1.1
there are two options you can play with in developer options.
Scroll down to "Media". Then there's "Use AwesomePlayer (deprecated) and "Disable USB audio routing"
You can also force media server to output to a specific speaker with this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.woodslink.android.wiredheadphoneroutingfix&hl
If output to usb isn't allowed in the free app. The paid app can be found at mobilism..schhh warez is not allowed here.
I found some sort of test tool: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.sobe.usbaudioroot
Help very appreciated but still no joy
I have tried so many varieties of settings within the developer options and the settings within that app! I have also tried this on a couple of roms
For a while I was stuck on resurrection rom with cynageon recovery but I have no got onto dirty unicorn rom running Android 7.1.1 but still no audio comes out the usb
