Help me set up google assistant - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am using xperia z2 D6503. Existenz rom 5.6.5. I cannot get google asistant to work. When I long press on the home button in xperia home nothing comes up. I also tried using the xposed module- Assistant enabler

Use Xposed module - Android N-ify, it should work perfectly.

Thank you for replying. I am using N-ify but when I press the home button nothing comes up. I am using the latest xperia home

Got it working.

It would help others if you posted details of how you got GA working.

I uninstalled the the updates of the google app and the google play services then I installed both to the latest version. I also installed the exposed module N-ify and checked to see if the google app has all the permission it needs. Turning on all the permission for the google app allowed me to hold the home button and launch google assistant. Clearing cache and data is also a must after updating google apps.

[Q] Update to Google Play 4.9 incompatible?

Yesterday Google Play (com.android.vending) stopped working. It consquently crashed everytime I loaded it.
I restarted the tablet and Google Play was completely gone. All dependent apps (Google+, Gmail, etc) and apps that rely on Google Play for billing either stop working or have issues. I cannot install any apps now that Google Play is gone.
I updated the tablet to the latest firmware (I had the original 4.3 on there from around the beginning of the year) now I just updated to 10.4.B.0.109 to see if that helped but it did not.
(My Samsung phone has successfully updated Google Play the other to a new version 4.9.13 with a significantly different look and feel so I expect Google has rolled out a big update that has broken my tablet)
Has anyone else experienced this?
Same as me , my google play version 4.9.13, everytime i tap the menu from left-top button, it will crash.

Thanks letting me know.
Have you restarted your tablet yet since Google Play updated? It was crashing for me and was when I rebooted hat it completely disappeared.
Actually, i try clear cache and restart, still same result.
And i did factory reset, because it is a development machine, but no luck.
So it may be bug of this version.
The model is LG L9 P760
Strange. Works perfectly on my end (Tablet Z, .230, KK).

I faced with this bug. You have to revert to 4.8.20 and then install 4.9.13 as ordinary apk, reboot and it will work as promised.

I'm getting gapps FC on every reboot whenever I install a google keyboard (including L). Can't tell if it's actually affecting anything yet, but don't like the FC on reboot.

Are you running Xposed..., if you are disable it and reboot a couple times, could be from that. Just happens sometimes. If you're getting it that one time and nothing bad is actually happening don't worry.
Thanks. No, not running xposed. I may not worry about it if it's not affecting anything. Just see it on reboots.

That worked with clearing out the cache. Thanks.
Has anyone been able to get any other Android Lollipop apk files working? I cannot get gmail, google music, calendar, fitness, etc. to work on a rooted G3.
gmail, music, and others get the error message "application not installed because an app with the same name with a conflicting signature is already installed"
calendar just won't install at all, giving the error "not installed"
fitness installs but upon opening requires an update through the play store, but the play store is unable to find the app
I am running the latest version of google play services (6.1.83), on jasmine ROM with xposed installed and the "show all apps in play store" 240 dpi mod enabled as well as the G3 tweaksbox.
I could try going into the system/app folder and removing the gmail and music apks so I can update them, but I haven't tried it yet. mostly I'm concerned about the fitness app.
EDIT: I also tried the keyboard, and that installed okay, but any time I wanted to type any text the cursor would show up but no keyboard would show.
Thanks!

You could try removing the stock ones with TiBu then wiping cache and dalvic then try to install again.
If you back them up first using TiBu you'll be fine in case that doesn't pan out.

Pretty sure u will have to remove stock gmail...etc...replace with new apks...set permissions. That's what I've read so far. U can do this with root explorer or whatever root file browser u prefer.

I tried this. Google music and lollipop keyboard are working. Fitness.apk gives the same error as before, Gmail quits on boot (repeatedly) and if renamed to Gmail2.apk, downloads an "update" from the play store that reverts it back to the 4.4 version (previously the farthest I could get was "welcome to the new gmail" and you can watch a video about the changes, but once you say "Ok, got it", it force closes. Clearing the gmail data prevents the force closing at boot, but will not allow the app to get past the "ok, got it" screen.

Do u happen to have the newest version of play store installed? Just checking.

I think so - I am using play store 5.0.32, play services 6.1.83. both install just fine on 4.4.2. I also tried everything with the previous 4.9.X versions of both, but that wasn't very productive.
I tried removing the gmail apk and all instances of com.google.android.gm, which I could find in /system/app, /data/app, and /data/data, then installing the gmail 5.0 apk or placing it in /system/app and setting permissions to rw-r--r--. Both of these result in a "disabled" gmail, which can be "enabled" in the play store. Enabling results in multiple force closes and the app cannot be opened. I wiped the app data and tried again to no avail. I then resorted to deleting gmail 5.0 through TiBu, and then tried installing directly from the play store. This results in a "version not supported" error during download, and the installation can not be accomplished. At this point I tried reverting to gmail 4.9, but it can't be installed, giving the "application not installed" error after going through the installation process.
Fitness.apk still opens and requires an update through the play store which cannot be found.
I wiped everything and reinstalled JasmineROM this morning to get a working gmail. I will update gms and play store to 5.0 versions soon.
The keyboard Force closes in landscape.

Yea the messenger seems to not be working for those on Stock ROMs, maybe someone has figured out how to use on stock if it's possible but I'm not sure myself, as I've said before I'm not on stock so it's working fine for me.
Hopefully once bump comes out and AOSP ROMs are available for the masses, messenger can then be enjoyed by more people.

Play store crashing on first screen for anyone else?

On the home page of the Play Store, if I scroll to the very bottom the app force closes.
This happens on 4.4.4. Also on 5.1, and I think 4.4.2 when I temporarily had these roms installed recently.
Is it a ZU thing? Or maybe just my account?

Google Play Music Download Notification Not Working

I am using an HTC One M8 with a GPE Marshmallow Rom installed, with S-OFF, Busybox, and Root. Before I installed Xposed Framework the download notification would show the download progress. Now it shows the title of the Song/Album downloading, but not the progress of it. This only affects Google Play Music, as every other app works.
As for Xposed, I have only these three modules installed...
APM+
Use USB for Marshmallow
GEL Settings
Below I have a screenshot showing it working in the Play Store, but not in Play Music.
If someone could help that would be great, seeing as I use these modules and don't wish to uninstall them.

Google Assistant - Marshmallow wont work

I cannot get Google Assistant to work at all no matter what I do. Ive tried uninstalling the updates from the Google app and play services but nothing. I have android n-ify installed I also tried the Google Assistant xposed mod but nothing. Added the ro.opa.device_eligible=true line to the build prop but nothing. Even tried changing ro.device.model to Pixel XL but still no Google Assistant.
I constantly get now on tap when I long press home button im using existenz rom Marshmallow with Cyberian Camera Mod and pdesires yandre audio mod with all addons. Ive tried everything I could think of. On my z4 tablet the get Google Assistant app on the play store worked but its incompatible with Marshmallow. My Xperia sp on acip nougat had assistant right off the bat.
I just cannot get it to work on my Marshmallow Z2 I even did a clean install of my rom. Ive had it on here in the past using n-ify but when the Google app got an update it would go. Now I can't get ot at all. I would appreciate all the help thanks.

GA seems enable itself now by recognizing the location you are in now, you may want to switch your language or as well as your region settings to get GA working. On MM, I could have GA to work even without any build.prop or any other tools' help.

I live in the UK im sure it was said to work here on Marshmallow and nougat sorry I forgot to mention this. Like I have waited for it to enable but it hasnt. Done build.prop mods and everything and I still get now on tap and I have beta apps for both Google app and play service so im unsure what to do to get GA to work. Thanks for the suggestion but I also tried changing location to US and still nothing.
Remove Google Assistant enabler and clear Google app data, Install CCSWE App Manager from Playstore then open the app and search for Google app, press on Google Assistant and press show icon, now back to the home screen and search for the Google Assistant and launch it finish the setup and it should work with long press home, you can also hide the icon after it works.
