[Help] How to enable quick settings (toggles) on second screen. - T-Mobile LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On my first V10 I was able to swipe the second screen (main screen off) to show quick setting toggles (sound, wifi, flashlight, bluetooth and camera). I am now on another refurbished V10 from t-mobile and when I swipe left or right all that shows is music player and app shortcuts but I need those quick setting toggles. Can someone please tell me how to enable it? I have dirtycow root with magisk su on stock 20L.

I also have stock 20L rooted. There is no setting for turning them off or on, they seem to be built into the second screen and only show when the main screen is off and the second screen is on. I swipe from right to left. However I do not have app shortcuts appear with main screen off, only with main screen on.

My second screen settings are both enabled, screen is off and it only swipes from sig to music and that's it.
Update: Talked to T-mobile higher tech support and they didn't know and gave me LG's number and they don't know either and want me to start a repair thing on their website and send it in...ain't got time for that...

I also have an upcoming plans selection. The stock 20L I'm running is @Eliminator74's stock rooted untouched (not any of his custom/debloat), but that was built from the official kdz.

Thats the one i was trying to run and got a hard brick. https://forum.xda-developers.com/tmobile-lg-v10/help/wont-power-t3568651

I am running FULL stock from Eliminator74's thread, not a debloated (different rom same thread). There are "Google" apps that are vital to android, that when removed are fatal. Eliminator74 is a good dev and left in what was necessary for proper function. Also Don't wipe system, the rom .zip does that for you. This device is very sensitive to how you flash.

no just dirty flash, do I wipe data, cache and dalvik only?

In TWRP wipe menu there is a factory reset option that will do the same as a true factory reset which includes /data and maybe internal storage (I know stock recovery wipes internal storage with /data, but TWRP might be programmed to separate internal storage from /data). That is the wipe option to use between different roms. Also the only TWRP I have found to work the best is this one
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24533100289590702
In the TWRP install menu navigate to folder where you saved the file and hit the install img button at the bottom of the screen, when done reboot recovery and you should have a fully functional TWRP

I had the same version installed, maybe its different idk I cant tell but I installed it.
Now I'm backing up my stuff and gonna do factory reset and reflash.
Also I just noticed my time doesn't show on 2nd screen when main screen is off. It shows notifications and my sig, swiping only shows music.

There are 3 TWRP threads for t-mo v10. This one is the only one of 2 with the same version number that works properly, the other one has more features added but has many bugs that the dev has no intention of fixing nor asking for help from other TWRP devs.

I flashed the alien 3 rom and theme and now my camera is gone

Yesterday I flashed and when I was done I realized double tapping home wasn't pulling up my cam. I checked the apps its not even there; did I make a mistake along the way? And can I get it back without flashing again? This is the first time I flashed a rom I've been rooted with bootloader unlocked for a while but never tried it til now. Also since im already bothering people is there a way to play netflix on a tv through the hdmi cable?

Have you tried a fresh reflash of the ROM? It has a camera because I have the ROM also.
Sent from my ATRIX 4G XDA Premium App
I had the same problem too, but it was because I didn't wipe data in cwm. I tried the rom that saves data so I thought I wouldn't have to wipe data. I wiped data after I installed the rom (before the theme) and the d3 camera was there, but you lose everything in data.

if you're coming from anything but alien 2 you're best bet is to wipe, and use the wipe version as well for good measure

^ this. and / or use the fastboot wipe, boot the phone into fastboot mode, hook it up to computer, open a command line prompt, navigate to your fastboot folder, and type fastboot -w to wipe all. Some people claim this is equal to or better than the wipe with CWM. I do all.
Thanks for all the input and wiping through fastboot did clear it so my cameras working but now I have other issues I can't lock my phone even though my fingerprint scanner is setup it has no security it turns on with no prompt, my home button doesn't work anymore, and it seems I can't mount the drives to my pc with the Usb cable. Should I try a fresh flash again. ive realized i cant cwm cause it wont find my external sd

[Q] Stuck on encrypted DNA

I had to encrypt my device for work email and now I can't go back. I've tried everything I could find through Google so I don't need the CIGTFY links. I've tried RUU through windows, flashing stock recoveries through Fastboot, factory reset through the OS, recovery and 'fastboot erase userdata.' All of these have yielded the same result: reboot into the same state with the phone still encrypted. Is there anything to be done or is this device stuck in this state?

I believe his should be stock. If it's the same process as my gf's company, you encrypt it right when you get the phone.
I did, fortunately, manage to unlock and root before I set up work email. Now I'm in the situation described above.

Is it preventing you from doing something, like flashing roms or getting S-Off? Just curious in case I can get my grubby hands on my girlfriend's One X+
It's preventing me from flashing any more mods, ota updates or even accessing the memory from any recovery. I've tried everything but trying a hard reset through the stock recovery but I can't find a way to get it back. Everything I try to flash using fastboot returns a successful indicator but nothing ever sticks.

I think I found the answer!!!!
You need to copy everything from the sdcard onto the computer.
Then format data manually. The factory reset wipe won't touch encryption but on the transformer prime when you go to format data it warns you that any encryption will be lost.

So just to clarify: I first plug the device into my computer via USB then through my computer OS choose to format the internal memory? If so, will I then need to reinstall the DNA's OS? Will the computer choose the right format (ext, FAT, etc.)? Can I use RUU after this procedure?

No I'm sorry didn't mean to be as vague. In recovery like in TWRP, there's the option for "factory reset" wipe which I'd the normal rom flashing wipe. But there's also an option in recovery that says "format data", I'm on a different device but when I get home I can list exactly the steps to get to format data instead of factory reset.
The factory reset is there because it allows only wiping part of data to prevent completely wiping the internal storage. The technical working is something like factory reset = wipe data and cache excluding media
That option doesn't truly wipe the data partition and for 99 percent of people they don't ever need to do a true data wipe and format which includes wiping the internal storage completely.
One of the warnings I saw on a different device that TWRP states with the complete "data format" is that this option will completely wipe all internal storage partitions and will delete or undo the devices encryption.
There's no computer involved and hboot and recovery and boot shouldn't be touched only the data partition. I believe that the system partition with the rom stays intact, so it will reboot into the new rom setup screen. But you need to have the Everything from the sdcard copied to a folder on your desktop, and the rom zip file handy in case you do need to transfer it to the phone and reflash.

That did it!!! I should note that I had some issues flashing the TWRP recovery back on (kept getting weird color striped patterns on my screen whenever I would boot into recovery) so I flashed the Clockwork Mod recovery. Fromm there I went to 'mounts and storage' then to 'format /data and /data/media.' I tried just format /data but that didn't work. It worked when I formatted them both. Thank so very much.

I am trying something very similar on my Samsung Galaxy S2 SGH-i777 and so far even formatting the data in CWM hasn't yielded results. I have actually formatted everything including the second ROM. Any ideas you can offer me is appreciated. When I did my encryption I didn't encrypt the whole device just the sections that were being used. Of course my device is totally different but I did find this thread two days ago and thought it was very interesting.

Soft-Bricked, Rooted, & S-Off

I have a rooted, s-off HTC One M8. I was using Android Revolution ROM, but decided to try and flash a Cyanogenmod nightly. The Cyan flash was successful. Then I decided to restore back to a previous ROM I had in my backup. When I did a factory reset on uninstall Cyan, it failed. Tried it again, another fail. So I did a dirty restore and now it's asking for a password to decrypt my storage. I can't get into bootloader mode or recovery. How can I fix my phone to work again?

Not sure what you are trying to say here. You tried to factory reset to uninstall CM? If so, factory reset just formats /data (user data) and doesn't touch the ROM. Did you factory reset within the OS, in TWRP, or in bootloader?

"Dirty restore" is not a term I've seen used here (maybe its just my ignorance). "Dirty flash" is used often (flash the ROM without wiping user data). Or do you mean you restored a nandroid without the /data partition (only /system and boot partitions)?

Bootloader still works, otherwise the screen wouldn't even come on, and you would be really screwed (actual brick). Failure to get into bootloader is almost always caused by performing the button combo incorrectly.
Use the reboot button combo stated in the previous post (hold power and vol up for a while, maybe 10 seconds or more). This forces a reboot. Then the instant the screen goes black, hold vol down and don't let go until the bootloader screen comes up. If you get the HTC boot screen, you probably didn't start pressing vol down fast enough.
Did you try to reboot into bootloader or recovery using adb? If not, that is another alternative.
Awesome. The OP cross-posted, then resolved his question (on a ROM thread, no less) and neglected to update his status here.
Please don't cross post. Stick to one thread (especially if you've bothered to start your own thread) and don't jump around. You will get better help that way, and avoid confusing others and wasting our time.

[Q] Stuck on Custom ROM with no root and no Custom Recovery

Prologue: I myself own a Sprint G3, and I'm rooted and running Bumpd TWRP just fine. I'm running the unofficial Sprint CyanogenMod 12 and all is well.
The Problem: My friend asked me to do the same to his Verizon G3, so I downgraded his G3 to 10b so that I could stump root it using a .kfz I think, I forget the exact file name. Well any who, that went well and then Stump Root worked, but it had to use bruteforce mode (My Sprint Variant didn't require BruteForce) but it worked so I wasn't very concerned. Then I used Flashify to flash the Bumpd TWRP to his G3. That went well too, I rebooted into TWRP immediately after flashing it and while in TWRP I pushed the CyanogenMod 12 .zip and the Lollipop PA GAPPS to his phone. I totally forgot to push su. That was my big mistake. So I flashed CM12 and GAPPS still not knowing that I forgot to root too by flashing su. It booted and the phone runs great on CM 12, but I do need to be able to flash him back to stock and he does need root.
This is where I need help: I've tried Stump Root and Towel root, and I've attempted to push su, but the binaries won't install of course because it isn't rooted. So my friend has a G3 running basically a stock version of CyanogenMod 12 with no root and no custom recovery. Is there any way I can install root and custom recovery without losing CM? I know I can just flash the stock if need be, but I'm curious if there's any way I can fix it without all those drastic measures.
Recovery is gone? What do you see when you try to get into it? Also, you can enable root in developer options or security I think.
