Hi,
My HAM2 is locked. I had a Consumer Cellular account. I had problems with the phone. Sent back to Huawei for a factory reset. They sent me a new phone locked to CC. They gave me a bunch of numbers which didn't work. Then they claim that the EMEI number for the phone is not in their system since they didn't issue the new phone. Is there a way to completely wipe the phone and unlock it?
Thanks,
MickeyMutt

Hey Guys,
Hopefully someone can help me out since I can't seem to find answers anywhere to my problem. I got an unlock code from T-Mobile but when I put a foreign sim into the phone is says "invalid sim, 0 attempts remain". I got the phone on craigslist so I'm guessing whoever had it before me tried unlocking it with the wrong code too many times. I have the right code now, how do I reset the attempts? I can't believe that the phone is hard locked and there isn't anything I can do about it. It's pretty frustrating so any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!!!
really???? no one knows anything about this issue?
So people here know how to put different operating systems on phones but no one knows if it is possible to reset the sim unlock counter?????
the phone is hard locked and (certainly in most cases) can now only be unlocked by using a hardware unlocker. (for most phones, you get three attempts via the keypad, and a further 10 via a hardware connection normally.)
thanks for the reply! what exactly does hardware unlocking mean? would i still need to use the code given to me by t-mobile?
speak to a phone shop (or better yet speak to t mobile first)
have you tried to restore the phone to factory(not a hard reset). I would try going to Tmobiles website and try to update the rom...

^is for US phones I just did mine today because the guy that put android on it removed the unlock screen and I was unable to unlock the phone. And no one on here was able to answer any questions for me so don't feel bad.
Got it unlocked last night! turns out the sim card i was using was locked. i tried a different one and it let me key in the code. thanks for all the help!

good stuff. No, flashing / hard resets will not ever lock the phone now.
It might be a stupid question, but I am curious.
I got my Optimus One unlocked with a code purchased off ebay. But, I need to restore it to factory settings to delete the first google account that was established with the phone so I can establish a google account for my son as the default. But if I reset it, will it relock the phone back to its own brand? If so, do I need to get a new unlock code or will the code they sent me still work?
Thanks
A google search gave me the answer..
No. The phone will remain unlocked.
When you unlock a phone to all networks it can not be locked again. Its not reversible.
So you are safe.
hit thanks button if i helped you.
Thanks for the answer.
Hi all, I'm planning to buy the T-Mobile S5 (900T) and the seller will unlock it for me (I don't know the specifics of the steps). But if I decide to later factory reset the phone will it lock again (just like new) and require the unlocking process again? If anyone here has experience on this please help. Thanks a lot.
// After some googling seems like most T-Mobile version of other android phones (including the galaxy S4) doesn't get sim locked after factory reset.
If it is a carrier and not a software unlock, that will persist after a master reset.
So far I have not seen and software unlocks for this device.
Carrier Sim unlocks are permanent. Factory reset won't sim lock the phone. This is a question for the person you're buying the phone from.
Phone was unlocked (via device unlock app) a few months ago. Then I switch over to the unlocked firmware. When the phone had a defect I flash the phone back to a T-Mobile firmware and sent it in for warranty repairs. The phone came back after repairs (replace main board) but is since sim locked again to T-Mobile. IMEI is still the same as before. I tried to use the device unlock app to unlock again but it goes straight to "device not recognized by your service provider". It does not behave like previously where it goes to option of Temporary Unlock or Permanent Unlock. T-Mobile have already requested my IMEI unlock again like they did previously but nothing works. They said that if you can't get the app to ask for Temp or Permanent Unlock then it will not communicate with the server.
I have the latest firmware already, CRE1.
So far I have clear cache and data on "device unlock" app, clear cache and factory reset on recovery, reflash the latest T-Mobile firmware. All have failed to get this "device unlock" app working properly again
Does anyone know how to get this app working again?
I had a similar situation with my phone that after being paid off would not unlock with app. After calling Tmo x2 times, technical help was the only way to get it to work. They probably have to manually release it on their system.

T-Mobile have tried on their end many times/things but still nothing. This is through T-Mobile technical, phone, social media, and chat. All same result.
My phone got stolen yesterday. Luckily phone & SIM both were protected by a PIN. Now my questions are
1. Will Factory reset protection will protect my phone from accepting any other google account login. Does it work automatically or I had to enable it before it got stolen?
2. Can the thief flash different firmware to use it?
3. Should I take the trouble of requesting the police to block the IMEI of my stolen phone?

Sorry to hear that.
1. FRP will kick in, but there are many videos for many different phones with steps how to bypass FRP. So anyone diligent enough can bypass it.
2. Once someone gets through FRP, he can unlock the bootloader and flash whatever he wants. Without disabled FRP, phone can be probably still reflashed in EDL (which requires an authorized Mi Account).
3. You should report it, but IMEI blocking must be supported by operators and also IMEI can be changed. So at the end it's your call if it's worth your time.
