Hello,
My screen suddenly does not work anymore.
It certainly is a hardware problem because I can start, shutdown (I hear the sounds and it vibrates normally) and access through USB.
How can I wipe before sending to RMA without seeing anything on the screen ?
Thanks for helping.
Laurent
You probably can't. Unless.... search for fast boot. You can probably hit the right combination of buttons to hard wipe it.

Thanks.
Currently trying to do this.
Hard.
Any other good idea is welcome.

Edit : Done. Difficult to do this blindly.

If it's the screen and not electronics, you probably could have used the HDMI out to a TV...using the TV as a replacement screen.
The other option would have been the "factory reset" function...using a combination of the volume buttons and the power button....I think that would have wiped all data off the device.
what are you trying to wipe? if it boots up but screen doesnt work you can attach to your pc and use adb to pull data and wipe out personal data, if you are rooted then you can also get in and remove applications then use vipermod exe to remove root
Thank you guys.
I was trying to wipe out all data before sending for RMA.
I managed to mimick the "volume buttons" procedure. Had to try numerous time as it is not easy when blind.
Your ideas are good and I will remember if there is ever a next time.
Good day.

you may also want to try the reset button on the left hand side near the micro sd card slot to restore to factory settings.

This just reboots .. pretty sure it doesnt format ..
Mic hole is on the top of the device, reset is on the side.

My screen went out and I did the HDMI out to the tv and did a factoy reset before I sent it in .
Hi all,
This is my first thread... I've looked every forum, every existing thread looking for an explanation / solution, with no luck at all... I hope somebody has experienced this with its prime and found a solution, because I'm thinking in RMA it...
The thing is that my sensors stopped working! No accelerometer, no magnetometer. The screen rotates itself to portrait mode when an app asks for it, but it stays that way when exiting the app. I have to go to Settings -> Display to uncheck and check Autorotation to go back to landscape mode. This is annoying! I installed an app called Elixir 2 and in the sensors page only the microphone is listed as present. Every other sensor is displayed as not present.
I noticed it two weeks ago, but I wanted to look for a solution instead of getting it replaced. I think it came with a .15 and it was updated to .21 in the first connection to Internet. I waited for the .28 to be released just in case it fixed the problem, but it did nothing, still has the problem.
By the way, I tried a cold boot and a factory reset... still nothing.
If I can have any word from anyone I will be pleased!
Thank you!
PS: forgive my english, I'm from Spain
Get the app called elixir2. its free. Kirk show u detailed info on everything, including sensors. itll show real time info on them. allows u to cut them off n on or reset them. it might help.

Well, that's exactly what I did! I said it before It just shows an X beside every sensor and under them it says something like "not present" (I don't have the Prime here right now). In that sensors page the only one that is shown as working is the microphone.
Any idea?
Thank you anyway!

Here's a snapshot of the Elixir2 sensors' page.
Hi, I cannot suggest anything new to try.
Today I noticed some of my sensors were not working, tried playing Riptide and found I could not turn. Also tried a level app and found that the orientation was not being detected. My problem was fixed by powering off then turning on again. I did not try elixir2 before the power off, therefore could not say if my prime was in a similar state.
Good luck in getting your prime going again.
Cheers stv

Well, at least someone experienced the same... even with a reset I can't make it work. Is there any "ultra-reset" I can do?
Before .28 I get the same issue.
Sensor can restart after a reboot or a cold start, but after I plug on the dock or after a deep sleep, the sensor stop.
Sometime, after a restart the sensor was not recognized. I use elixir also to check.
Now with .28, the sensor work well.

Did you update to .28 over wifi or using a microSD?
Thank you!
Update done through Microsd.
I have tweaked buil.prop on .21 and result Fota didn't work.
Think also to make a cold reboot and clear cache of all application (can be done with elixir).

demandrin - off topic, do you know where I may be able to get the circiut board that has the microsd slot and the touch screen sensor connectors. I accidentally damaged the connectors and now I can only use the tablet with the keyboard dock as a mini laptop. I emailed Asus but they would not sell me the part. I wonder if Gary would be nice enough to sell me the part.
Is HP the only company that sells parts to customers (I love HP for that reason LOL!!)

An update with my problem: I finally installed the .28 through SD card, having wiped all the data first, and the result is the same: no sensors are present. No autorotation, no compass, no auto-brightness. Elixir shows only the microphone as one of the sensors, everything else is shown as "not available" (as shown on my previous snapshot).
Any help?
Thank you!

And yesterday, with no reason at all, ALL of my sensors (accels, gyro, magnet field, etc.) started working again. I just powered the tablet on and voilà, everything was perfect! Elixir showed all the sensors up and running!
I think this post can be closed now... I hope it doesn't happen again!
So my fingerprint scanner worked flawlessly for about a week then issues started. It goes through spots where it won't recognize any of the scans. If I delete the scans and redo then it works great for a little while then won't recognize any of them again. Anyone else experience this? Thanks!

no not yet had the phone for 2 weeks and is fine
Just had this issue myself today, I have both thumbs programmed in and it refused to accept either. Once I entered my password it was fine. Happened twice now.

Had to factory reset the phone because it said that the system cannot handle fingerprints.
Even with the security password didn't work. . .
Sammy really screwed up this phone trying to release it asap

Occasionally it will go in can't recognize mode, but after doing a backup password it works fine. It's a very weird bug.

I had this problem once. Then i simply input the emergency password, which worked.
Usually it has to do with the positioning of your thumb. Just make sure you place it at the right angle.
So i just updated to MM. Now, my fingerprint sensor/scanner(whatever you wanna call it) is acting up. There are times when it won't read my finger at all. Other times, i would have to try three or more times to get a good scan in. This usually happens when the phone has been on standby for at least 10mins. Unlocking the phone with the fingerprint sensor when you just(say 2-5mins) locked it is ok. It works as it should. Could it be a doze related bug? Is there anyone else experiencing this problem?
update: it does happen even if i just locked it. though not as often as when it had been on standby for a longer period. "/
My response got better with MM. Try a factory reset? How did you install MM?

right. at first i thought it wasn't reading my finger. but now that you mention it, it may have read my finger but asked for my key after since it didn't show an error. if it didn't read/recognize my finger, it should show an error saying so right? but it just vibrates and asks for my key. will clearing fingerprint data and re-adding them help? sure hope so.

If it vibrates and asks for a key, then you are probably using an app to lock the screen. On marshmallow, you have to lock the phone with the power button for the fingerprint sensor to work

I heard that Nexus based on MM has this problem, too.
Screen Lock Pro(Prahallad) on Play store may be useful.

Yep. I used to use the app "Soft Lock Screen" but now I can't anymore as I have to input pin if I use that to lock the phone hahaha

yes. i am using knock-off(double tap to turn off display) from smart launcher to lock my phone. i'll try disabling this and report back. thanks a bunch Khan.
Update: evrything is working fine now. Looks like it was a marshmallow issue as khan said. Too bad i can't use double tap to lock anymore.

Yes , if the problem remain with no update from samsung side , I will ask for replacement for sure , especially the device is new and there is no sufficient reviews of the device to see of this problem is common of just single cases ..

Here in Europe Exynos version in a Greek mobile forum we are 3 people with the same Fingerprint problem... So this must be firmware bug and not hardware...
Try this and see how it going...
Go to Fingerprint settings, desable Fingerprint gestures, delete all Fingerprints, restart phone, go again to Fingerprint settings, put 4 Fingerprints (I put 2 times the same finger for left and right hand), check if works, restart phone, go to dialer and call "*#0*#" service menu, go to sensors, Fingerprint and click on normal, when finish (all "pass") go back, restart phone and check if everything is OK.... There's be 1,5 day without having any problems
Any one still facing the issue after disabling fingerprint gesture?

I think its more of software related issue and needs an update. For the moment, just disable the fingerprint gesture it should work fine.
I confirm that. I had the issue yesterday, have disabled finger print gestures and everything's fine so far...

hi, there's a dual sim sgs version of 9, 64 GB. the reader works as he wants. it works a few times and in a moment it stops working. over and over again. I restored the factory settings and it started working but after two hours it stopped working again. Updates are currently being made.
