Can't enter recovery - Honor 5X Questions & Answers

I've been running Resurrection Remix for a while, I went to update to the latest, and it's hanging on startup. I can't get it to enter recovery though, when I hold down power and volume down it just keeps rebooting.

Don't understand your "didn't". Didn't what!? It didn't go in recovery when you press power+volume up!?

Turns out the same thing happened when I tried flashing a different 7.1 ROM. Neither volume up or down with power got it to recovery (and it wouldn't boot). Before doing vol up + power I needed to wipe it with fastboot, I'd done this the first time as well, without doing that first I couldn't get to recovery.
So maybe it is something with my twrp & 7.1.

Switch of you phone completely press will down and power whole quickly connecting the USB cable from you computer hold all the buttons untill you enter fastboot mode

Soft Bricked Atrix 4G

So I was flashing a new rom in CWM on my AT&T Atrix 4G, unlocked bootloader, running CM10. I was going to flash CM9 because there was a bug in CM10, and when I went to wipe my dalvik cache, I hit the wrong menu option somehow and wiped an internal partition that must've been the one that CWM was on, so now I get the screen shown in the picture. Any ideas guys? Thx.

I should have mentioned, that doesn't work. I get the error in the following picture.
Please help me! I forgot how awful using a feature phone is! lol
are you familiar with fastboot? What happens if you select fastboot? I am just thinking that you might try reflashing the recovery (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img) but I am not great with fastboot but worth a look?

I'll give it a try. Thanks man! I was looking at SBF files, which I really wanted to avoid. I'll let you know what happens.
Nothing. The fastboot command line tool couldn't see my phone. I'm going to look for another guide. Maybe there's something I'm missing.

Driver issues. When I click yes to the error on the first button, the error in the second screenshot pops up.
By the way, I just want to say I appreciate the help and the quick replies.
Found the drivers and successfully flashed RomRacers Recovery through Fastboot! Thanks guys! She lives!:victory:
It's odd though, I just flashed cm10 and I'm having frequent random reboots and the screen calibration is off.
It looks like the trick here is a pds partition fix. I'll give it a try tomorrow and report back.
The pds partition worked.

I am a RAZR user and have it all rooted and running great so I am fairly competent but a co-worker has the ATRIX and it was in a bootloop. I offered to help and find myself practically where you were except I have no OS on the phone and can not seem to get recovery on it.
Can you share where you found the right drivers, recovery, and a good OS? Basically I need someone to hold my hand through this because I do not have the time to keep looking for the right things since I have a kitchen remodel underway and a wife who....need I say more?
Thanks

I got exactly what you did. But even in fastboot mode I can't get out of this screen after flashing the recovery. Actually it does not get into CWM or another recovery but each time I Vol and Power Down it gets into this screen again. Looks like flashing does not help at all. If I select Boot Android it powers up in the last ROM I flashed before all this. The problem is that I cannot operate any soft button at the bottom: the screen looks not calibrated so I need to push on areas lower than actual buttons are, and I don't know how to get out of that either. No Back, neither Home or Search buttons are unreachable.
What can I do? How to reflash this phone?
If you activate the RSD mode you can flash your stock rom with RSDLite. There is a superthread with the original firmwares, you will lose root and unlock but it will restore completely your device

Teamwin looping after hitting the verizon OTA update button

Hey all i accidentally hit the OTA update "OK" button when it popped up on my screen. I've been deferring it for the past few months but my finger slipped and hit the "OK" instead of the "defer" and choosing a date to ask again.
I have a looping "Teamwin" logo and it keeps looping.. Cant seem to do anything. I've taken out the battery and then start it up but it still does the same thing.
Any advice, step by step to get out of this loop?
Thanks!
David
you can not OTA update with a custom recovery...time for a date with Odin.

Would you care to give me a link to do this with a note 2, droidstyle?
yep click the link in my sig...refer to section 1b. you can probably get away with using root66 so you do not have to reroot and unlock BL.
Also when you get back up and running I would recommend freezing SDM1.0 apk with a App such as Titanium back up pro and you will no longer get prompted for OTA updates.

hold on a sec, can you boot into recovery? If so you can probably wipe data and re flash the rom you were on.

if you had an updated firmware then that file wouldnt work for you. i also noticed though you put that file in the bootloader field instead of the pda field when you tried flashing it one of those times. that may have been a bad thing. you could try to flash the other file marked vramc from that thread.

root66 works on all devices with the current firmware since it does not contain a bootloader, recovery, or wipe data. Sometimes it will cause a bootloop which all that is needed is to wipe data in recovery.

you need to boot into recovery and wipe data...if you can get into recovery the a full odin package will need to be flashed such as stock VRAMC3. However it looks like you figured it out.

NOTE: Every time you first turn on TWRP, you'll have to turn the display on then off for the touchscreen to work.
This TWRP seems to function just fine, but when I boot to twrp it gets stuck in a recovery bootloop and the only way to get it to boot to the system is to reflash the image with Odin. Have you had this issue, and if so is there a fix? I'm really good at modding ROMs but have never built a recovery. I do have a TWRP 2.8 for the device that has some minor bugs like clock and stuff but it reboots correctly. Maybe you could compare the two and try to fix the 3.1.

Interesting. I'm gonna try and reflash it, I may know what the issue is. The first time, I extracted it and used Flashify...and then used Odin because I couldn't get back to the system. I used the TWRP to go directly to DL mode when I Odin flashed it instead of doing the vol-, home, and power routine. Maybe there lies the issue. I'll report back in a bit.

There is definitely some kind of issue, regardless of how I flash it...it just reboots back into TWRP. I haven't tried to make a backup with it, but I used it's terminal to flash my other image back on...it seems to be a good working TWRP, it's just giving me the problem of not being able to boot to anything else except DL mode. Hopefully we can figure out, I'd like to use it since it's newer than the 2.8 I'm using.

I just figured out something else, it seems if you only boot to it with the button combination it's works fine, but if you use any other means (adb, terminal, etc.) to boot into TWRP it will endlessly boot back into itself.
Sweet!
I was having the same problem, however, I think you figured out the solution, awesome job man! Thanks =P

Just wanted to drop in and say that I used to have the 360t1 which was the metro pcs version of this phone and across the entire device line up there was an issue with using any method except the hardware keys (ie: the vol up/down, home, and power combinations) to boot to recovery or download mode it would cause an endless boom loop. I am %100 certain that is the problem here. If I remember reading correctly it was something with the way the kernel was compiled or something that caused this issue and it was at such a deep level in the kernel that it was something that would happen even with custom kernels. So to the OP it's not your build of the recovery that os the cause. Nice work by the way. Glad to see more people getting their hands dirty with development for lower end devices. So as a rule of thumb with the core prime always use the hardware keys to reboot to any mode. NEVER USE ANY third party app to reboot, not even just to reboot. Hope this was helpful for you. Happy modding!!!
