So I know this has been talked about over and over again....even so..can someone please explain to me why this phone running stock rom ..custom rom...stock kernel custom kernel ...whatever the combo...drains solo fast? I am on my 2nd battery tmo nicely sent out free of charge thinking i got a bad one...yet the issue remains..i charge overnight..unplug ..go to work...8am ...stay in the shop 2 hrs...phone dark/silent.. get loaded up (delivery driver) get in the truck. Stick my phone on my clingo car mount turn on my screen to start an mp3...batery is at 85...from there i take maybe 60 mins of talk throughout the day..have mp3player running and use a Max of half hour navigation...around 2 pm battery is down to maybe 30 if not less...by the time i leave work at 4 it is in the red telling me to plug in.. mind you i even use a car charger here and there throughout the day...i have noticed this thing drains 3 times faster than it charges..i can even have GPS on...charger in...and it will stay about even or more times than not be less then when i plugged it in ...
Again having read a million of these posts...I cannot find any rhyme or reason for this other than luck of the draw? Some get 40 hrs some get 5?

Woah your post is really hard to read.
First of, using the GPS navigation app is very cpu intensive. You could tell it is when your phone starts to heat up. The more CPU intensive an app is, the faster the battery will drain. Secondly, if you have alot of syncing aps, your battery will obviously drain faster. My phone will last upto two and a half days without syncing and with heavy use. I'm not sure what you are trying to say with the charger, but the car charger isn't as powerful as the home charger from my experience--but I have noticed some car charger are *more* powerful than the other lower quality car chargers. Like with some chargers, my phone was able to charge while playing music in the car.
There is an issue with the DRM integrated with the newer roms (like the OTA). Together with the samsungs mediahub, it drains a signifant amount of battery. Some users report having better battery life after uninstalling or freezing the said apps--this requires root priviledges of course.

This is for kernel devs only. The patch itself is useless to those who do not/can not compile their own kernel.
This was a pretty big hit on some other devices so I figured I'd give it a shot for you gys. This allows one to force AC charging for any charger that is detected as USB (e.g. many car chargers) and pull the full current the charger can support. It also provides additional security when connecting to public charging stations because by forcing AC charging, USB/adb data transfers are disabled, protecting your data.
It is essentially a software version of the modified charge only usb cables.
Fast charge can be toggled by issuing:
echo 1 > /sys/kernel/fast_charge/force_fast_charge
and off:
echo 0 > /sys/kernel/fast_charge/force_fast_charge
In addition I have created a toggle fast charge widget that may be used to toggle fast charge on and off right from your home screen:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.incredicontrol.fastchargewidget
I have also implemented a toggle in IncrediControl (free) that will allow you to turn it on and off.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.incredicontrol
For the widget (or any fast charge toggle) to work, you MUST be running a kernel that has this patch implemented.
As a good gesture to support a fellow dev, I ask that if you implement the patch into your kernel, please link to my widget as one means to toggle it. You are of course free to provide other ways to toggle it as well if you so desire.
Kernel devs, if you would like to test the widget yourself to confirm its working, and for convenience of testing, please contact me and I will provide you with a copy. You must show that you are a kernel dev though (i.e. link me to your kernel post so I can match your username).
Good luck have fun!
http://www.incredikernel.com/wp-con...wnload.php?id=shooter_force_fast_charge.patch
Thank you to those who tested for me.
Any takers?

I'm willing to give this a shot, quick question though, does this use AC charging if you plug it into your computer? Or is it only for other sources, such as the car charging you suggested?
Will dual mount SD, or multi mount still work after enabling this
I prefer those functionality

When on, it will be detected as AC for any source normally detected as USB. This includes your computer. Not every computer can put out enough amperage to significantly increase charge speed though. So it depends on your charging source. Even if your charging source can't put out more than 500mA (what USB charging is limited to), since the phone is in AC mode, it will be able to sleep while connected to the USB source so you will see some small gain because of less power usage from the phone.

When you have the feature toggled on, the phone is in AC mode and all USB transfers are disabled. Turning it on and off is as simple as tapping the widget or opening an app and unchecking a box though.
Tap the widget on (or other means of toggling) - AC mode
Tap the widget off - Auto (detects based on charging source like stock)

Fast charge? I remember having that on the DHD, Lord Clockan's work. It was great having that extra overcharge + fast charge...
I'm no dev, but having this feature on future ROMs would be very nice.

Any chance you can max the current input? I mean... it begins at >+900mA when the battery is very low, and the current slows down as the battery charges.
Also, when playing a game that, say, consumes about -400mA and the current input is +800mA, the current will slow down to +400mA only (since another 400mA are being consumed by the phone). You can immagine what happens when the battery is almost full and you're playing a game...
I am guessing that having the current input always maxxed out would charge the battery (a lot) faster. Would that damage it, too? If not, could it be implemented?
in experience, below 80% the numbers are as per below
900+ ma WALL PLUG
400+ ma USB
600+ ma CAR CHARGER
these are rough numbers, not accurate
after 80%, they tend to be slower
the latest BMW i posted is able to track -ma drains accurately, and +ma charges accurately but has yet 2 be released by Cedrid. I wonder whats taking him...

I can't press "Install" while Filter Screen / Screen Adjuster is running / turned on. That's the only thing that prevented me from installing apps until now... If you have that installed, I suggest you turn it off for the time you're installing apps.
Otherwise... I don't know... Wipe cache, dalvik, fix permissions, zipalign apks...
Id love to see this implemented.. im running the standard LeeDroId kernel.. id happily flash it over the top if that would be of any help. I do 80% of my phone charging via USB.

I would be concerned with heat buildup and possible damage by pushing that much additional current. Not to say its not possible, but I would be leery of implementing it.

As I thought. Not going to make a fuss about it, it was just an idea; I knew it could be dangerous
I bought a pack that had a car charger and a wall charger (both of supposedly 1A output) - lighter than the battery cap of the EVO 3D, rofl. The car charger worked perfectly (the power output was meeting the expectances). The wall charger barely sends 30mA (ROFL). In the pack, I also got some sort of expandable Apple cable. The entire "pack" was cheap Chinese crap, I paid ~$3 on it.
I still have the oh-so-good wall charger. It didn't push much current to the Desire HD even with the fast charging kernel...
Guess in cases like that, there's nothing any kernel patch would be able to solve, eh?

haha, yeah. You're always ultimately limited to the max the charging source can put out.

I just installed that newer version of BMW. Selected HTC Evo (test) as mA retrieval method. Battery is at 90% and the input current is +305mA. Also, I disagree that the phone takes +900mA from the wall charger when the battery is under 80%. Input over 900 is only when the battery is like under 10%... At 50%, for example, it isn't +900...
ive got 3 wall chargers, and all of them are original from the phones I bought respectively, HD2 HD2 and EVO3D
they report about 900 below a certain %, and it could be 40% , 50%, 80%, etc
i guess you get the drift
anyways, you are supposed to select Automatic to get proper drain readings
forgot 2 mention that
Still need a tester to PM me. Have a test kernel ready to go, just need confirmation so I can post the patch.

Sent you all the info. Thanks!
why dont you release the sources for kernel developers like Leedroid, Anryl, Mdeejay, Chad.goodman, Cile381 to compile into
and then, we users, can test them out as a seperate branch?
I think we should start working on some roms for our device. It seems no developer will come to our aid. I miss Roms like RR AOSPE etc. It can really be nice if we saw them here. Instead of continued waiting, its time we used google and come up with some roms for ourselves. Build fron sources? Or porting? Whatever works. We can port Roms from devices with similar processor or from the android one HTC U11 life. I have a feeling it will be easier to port the HTC u11 life android one rom as hardware is the same, so porting kernels only should be able to get it booting. I would have gotten porting but then am off pc at the moment.
This takes lot time to do the more people we have it will make things lot easy to bring out
Hi guys! I agree with you. I believe we must make "roms".
I have 2 "Life", the first is T-Mobile while the second is Android One.
Above the T-Mobile, I mount a US 8.0 stock rom with unlocked bootloader and root. I removed a lot of stock apps and mounted the stock gapps!
Instead, Android One received the "Pie" update. This device, for now, let him stock!
It would be nice to have "pie" in T-Mobile too, but the system partition is completely different, and without "s-off" we are dead!
Excuse my bad English.

What about my battery life gets 4-5h SoT on latest Pie update
On Oreo 5-7h SoT
Same apps, same settings, factory reset 2 times, location, wi fi scanning etc OFF. No Root

Only 5/7 hours? It's too little!
I get two days of use with both Oreo and Pie.
WiFi and mobile data always on. Position off.
If I use the position with Google Maps navigator things change, lasting one day.
I'm afraid your battery went friend! but cheer up, in this phone you can change the battery without breaking the display like in the HTC 10.
Obviously, you need to check the chargers!
I have noticed that: depending on what charger and use it changes the life of your battery. I have two chargers, the first is an old 700 milliamper charger, the second is a new generation 2.4 amp charger and QC 3.0 port.
When I charge the phone leaving it all night with the 700 milliamper charger the phone lasts me two days. When reloading the phone using the 2.4 amp charger the phone lasts for a day.
Slow charging is always the best!

I did what did you said, still not getting more than 5 hours SOT, using only instagram, chrome, whatsapp, and a little of facebook
I updated google play services but still using more than 30%
I charge my phone with the classic htc charger(not QC) 5V/2A
I did also 2 days charge up to 80% and then a full charge
Still nothing
RIGHT NOW
Android- alarm: intent job deadline and intent job delay are HUGE. Android in Alarms using 65%, and play services 15%, report from BBS
Report from battery usage in settings, play services using 110% of my battery
someone managed to find a rom with android 9?
MI9 wireless charger after battery full. Not off automatically . fan continuously running .[18w adapter]. green light continuously on.
any way to off wireless charger ?
its affect battery?
2, if you use 27w quick charger 4.0, wireless or direct charging. battery life less
compared to original given charger 18w.
charge turbo , discharge also turbo !
I have the opposite experience of yours. When wired charging with the 27w, my battery lasts somewhat longer. Running latest 9.8.1 xiaomi.eu ROM.

yes, quick charge 4.0 cable charging , good battery life . Because the latest technology dual charging method and multi charging algorithm . Best efficiency,,,,+30% .
As the title said, I recently tried pixel plus experience rom and I suffered from two main issues, the Slow charging and missing camera features, can you recommend me a rom that doesnt have those two issues?
The only ROM, AFAIK, that may have a somewhat working MIUI camera is crdroid with the testing version of ANX for A12, but I haven't used it. About battery charging, have you actually measured how long it takes to charge the battery with different ROMs? I personally don't care about charging speed that much, you will be limited more by temperature than anything else.
in every rom i tried fast charging works fine... i'm using the original 33W charger

CrDroid is the only ROM that supported fast charging for me.
Other option is to flash a module in magisk for fast charging if the rom dont support it. you can verify it after, using amper
