Hi Guys,
I'm trying to add root access to my Miui 8.1 global rom but my volume up key doesn't work so I can't go into recovery to do this. Does anyone know of another way?
Much appreciated
Assuming your TWRP image file is named TWRP.img and it's in your current directory, try
Code:
fastboot boot TWRP.img
That should reboot your device reading the image from your PC.
Make any adjustment to the above command according to your twrp image file name.
This just installs TWRP which I've already done. I need to be able to boot into it.

Thanks for the reply...when you say "that" what exactly are you referring to?
Can you notice the difference in the two commands I wrote?
I'm referring to the part of your message I've quoted.

Q. Is this the touch version of Clockworkmod Recovery?
A. No, this is the non-touch version of Clockworkmod Recovery once any bugs have been worked out and the non-touch has been properly tested I will look into compiling a touch version unless an official version of Clockworkmod for the Nexus 5 is released.

You have to boot into fastboot mode to install this custom recovery on your device. Do you have fastboot and ADB setup on your computer and the device drivers installer for the Nexus 5? If you don't have fastboot and ADB setup on your computer I would recommend taking a look at this simple fastboot and ADB installer . Once you have fastboot and adb setup, and the device drivers installed follow the following steps:
1. Download this file.
2. Move the downloaded recovery file into the directory where you have ADB and Fastboot setup on your computer.
3. Navigate into the directory where you have ADB and Fastboot setup on your computer and run the following commands from the command prompt on your computer:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery hammerhead-cwm-6.0.4.4-unofficial.img
After following this procedure you will then have Clockworkmod Recovery installed on your device. Let me know if you still have questions.
And make sure you
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
first!
I installed the recovery via fastboot.
When i try to boot into recovery i'm stuck at google screen.
I'm able to reboot the device.
Whats wrong?

Are you too able to access recovery all? But you can reboot the device and still get into the bootloader for fastboot mode correct?

Interesting I'm curious to know if the TWRP build I posted does the same any hints from dmesg or last_kmsg would also be beneficial, is it possible for you use Android Debug Monitor (DDMS and Monitor in Android SDK tools folder if you have the sdk installed) and upload a log?
Okay so here is propably another noob question: On my HTC Sensation I had 4ext as recovery. What are the differences between this and 4ext or TWRP? Is there a thread somewhere I couldn't find!?
I installed SultanXDA's CM13 ROM and I am using TWRP (not the 3 version). I haven't installed SuperSU, so it means that I am not rooted, too... But...
I wanted to flash this camera: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one...t-oxygenos-3-0-1-beta-camera-cm-aosp-t3386799
The problem is that when I get to recovery mode in order to install the zip file, I see all kinds of folders, but not my "normal" ones... I am using my SD card as internal space...
I read somewhere that I have to update to new TWRP 3 in order to overcome this...
So, does it have to do with the version of twrp and if so, how can I update it without being root and without being able for the current TWRP to read the zip files that I will "feed" it?
Maybe my only method is through adb?
Flashing through adb will erase anything else other than changing the TWRP version?
Thanks in advance guys!

If your Bootloader is unlocked try Fastboot.
Reboot OPX into Fastboot Mode. (Power + Volume Up i think or trough TWRP or CM)
Connect it to your PC
On PC: Download the latest TWRP img File
Start CMD in same Folder as the downloaded File is.
Type: 'Fastboot devices' to make sure your OPX connected properly
Typ: 'Fastboot Flash Recovery *DownloadedTWRP*.img'
Flashing new TWRP only overwrites current TWRP and doesn't erease anything else

Hello,
1.Ive rooted my phone emui 4.1 with kingroot
2. I've flashed Official twrp 3.0.2
3. After booting in twrp I tried to clear cache but it unable to clear cache.
4. Then I've force rebooted to recovery then all partitions got unmounted (shocked)
5. So I flashed mm kang ROM then phone bricked so I thought that stock recovery may mount all partitions so I flashed stock recovery (back up)
6. Finally I'm unable to boot in stock recovery and ROM
7. What do u think guys? How to solve this issue ??
Any one faced same problem?
***Main thing is what ever I try to push a file from adb to phone in fastboot mode (ex- recovery, boot.IMG) it says "writing recovery failed:command not allowed". why I'm getting this error ?? I've unlocked bootloader too ***
Thank you!

if bootloader works: download official image, use fastboot flash commands to flash all parts
otherwise
download official image from huawai, (update.app) copy to sd, boot phone with all 3 buttons pressed. it shold boot into some recovery.

Do you have hisuite? If not try uninstalling drivers then install hisuite and try flashing with fastboot then. By the way does your device get recognised when you type "fastboot devices" command?
that's strange.

Yes in eRecovery I can see "update recovery" after connecting to wifi it says "failed to get device info"
I ran out of options.
You might want to try all the same, using different UPDATE.APP version, like B180 or B200, using a different cable, different computer, etc.
Then next step will be Huawei support, it might be a memory/hardware problem.
Sorry man.

Which commands do you use? Locking and unlocking the bootloader should have nothing to do with the version of Android you have installed

You are still using old version of fastboot. Either search&replace fastboot.exe in all locations on your hard drive, or remove fastboot folder from Windows PATHS.

Use the proper twrp built for Android 10 from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...y-unoffical-twrp-xiaomi-mi-a3-t3987759/page16
The twrp.img you used only works on Android 9.
Twrp.zip will work on any Android version so once you flash the correct .img then you can reboot recovery and if you want install twrp by flashing twrp.zip
