Differences between SolarWarez and hartec Xposed MIUI tweaks? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

I'm purchasing the @SolarWarez XMIUI(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=software.solarwarez.xmiui), if for anything else as a thank you for providing the Xposed installer.
I see another MIUI 8 Tweaks [Xposed] by hartec on the Google PLay store. (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hartec.miuitweaks8&hl=en)
Has anyone experience with the two? Are there any differences?

Both have a trial version. Try both of them and buy the one you like. Both have many common settings, but there are few settings which are unique in each. So see which settings / tweaks matter to you more..

[Mod][Xposed] Google Search Bar Destroyer

Here's a quick Xposed module I whipped up to get rid of that unsightly Google Search Bar on the homescreen. I use a very generic hook point, so the search bar may also disappear in Google Now among many other possible places. I purposely do this for longevity of the patch (only one update since Sept '15). Thanks to theknut/GEL's Xposed module for providing some early hints on hook points.
(This module is not specific to the Axon, but it is my current device for testing)

Does it make the space usable also? In Google now launcher, when removing the search bar, does the space become usable?
Thanks

I'm not sure that you can reclaim that space, as the Remove/Uninstall drop-shortcuts are there as well.

Just installed the module yesterday, I can't use that space (as jeboo said, the remove/uninstall-icons are there). I'm using a Aquaris X5 Plus, Android 6.0.1.
But, hey, that ugly search bar is..."destroyed"! ...wonderful!
Thank you jeboo (and also to theknut, even if XGels can't hide the bar within the latest Search version)!

This module is amazing. Take my money.
I would like to support development to see the space where the search bar used to be as usable space where widgets and icons can now be placed.

It's hard to say what the conflict could be without more information. Do they modify any Google apks as part of their mods? I've not heard any other bug reports, of course I'm only testing on the ZTE Axon 7 and Moto X Pure.
Do people have this working on Oreo 8.1? I'm on a Google PixleI 2 and can't get it to work. Other Xposed applications are working just fine.
Any ideas?

Potentially stupid question, but why not just use another launcher? Nova Launcher let's you remove the search bar, in addition to adding about a million other features.
Certainly not a stupid option. I was using Nova on my Pixel 1 when I didn't have Xposed. I'll most likely go back to that solution.

I was hoping Oreo would be out by now. If I get a chance to flash an unofficial build, maybe I can update the module before the official release.
That would be so awesome! Thanks.

How create my own custom rom

Hi,
I am using redmi note right now with latest MIUI8. I am a computer engineer. As I love MIUI because it provides som cool features like swipe three finger to take screenshots and some other features also. I love playing with my phone. So now I am trying to install Pixel ROM for redmi note 3. As some features I love that are only available in MIUI ROMs and some are good in Pixel. I want to add some features available in MIUI to pixel rom. I read this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801690. I can not find any perfect ROM for me. I know it not as simple as installing and playing subway surfers. So is that possible that i can copy this features to pixel ROM?

It is possible, but difficult. You would have to look through a lot of smali files and figure out what all you would need to make it work.

[DEPRECATED] Night Light on the Nexus 5X/6P on Android O

Please note: I am resharing this post here so that more users can discover this, the original thread was in Nexus 5x written by me.
Hey all,
So I'd like to share my discovery with all of you.
Yesterday I was playing around with my Rooted Nexus 5x on Android O DP2 and later found that I activated Night Light in Settings>Display.
The requirements are:
A rooted Nexus 5x/6P on Android O
Pixel Theme placed in vendor/overlay
Developer Options enabled
Steps:
What you want to do is:
1. Add the Pixel theme to vendor/overlay (there are a lot of articles online for this)
2. Change your smallest width in Developer Options to 450.
3. Activate the Pixel theme in Settings>Display>Advanced>Theme
4. Voila
Why does it work?
I honestly don't know if I were to take a guess, it would be that the combination of Pixel theme and DPI trigger the software to think it's a Pixel, but again, just a guess...
I am attaching screenshots of everything and also the overlay file I used, please report back whether it worked or not!
Cheers!
Thanks, can i add them to my substratum theme so other users can use it on future O builds also ?

Sure thing m8, but could you link to this thread though! Thanks! And let me know what theme, I'm a recognized power user of substratum!
Didn't work in my case. Followed the same steps.
Not work for me. Maybe it only works for 5x
Nexus 6P running latest beta here, and not working. No theme option in display, and no night light ?
Nexus 6p, not working for me
Tried to set it up, nothing.
What's the substratum theme to apply?
Or... How to use the zip? Just flash it?

I'd like to introduce to You guys my latest rom. Taimen! It's a heavily debloated rom that I turned into a Pixel AOSP rom as much as I could. It features most if not all Pixel 2XL Android P apps and no Samsung apps! This way Your Note8 will be even faster and smoother. It also reduces ram usage a lot. And if You want to try AOSP or just something different and Lineage isn't stable yet. This rom should be perfect for You!
Features:
Latest Note8 Firmware.
All Pixel 2XL Android P Apps.
Pixel 2XL Android P Sounds(Ringtones, Notifications, UI).
Pixel 2XL Widgets.
Pixel 2XL Android P Animations.
SetupWizard from AOSP.
HUGE DEBLOAT.
Pixelified system(build.prop, Play Store etc).
AOSP Lockscreen.
Oreo AOSP SystemUI(Download Material Notification Bar from APKMirror or Play Store)
Pixel Navbar.
Pixel 2XL Android P Live Wallpapers.
Pixel 2XL Android P Launcher.
SuperSU - Most stable for now.
Stock kernel.
Pixel Boot Animation.
Google Camera with HDR+!
And more!
---------------------------------------------
Boot can take up to 5-10 minutes. So be patient .
After You flash the rom:
After the SetupWizard is done, make sure to uncheck all Additional Apps.
Go to Settings > Apps > Phone and choose it as default. Otherwise You won't be able to see InCallUI.
Go to Developer Options and change animation speed to 0.5x for the smoothest experience!
Install Pixel Live Wallpapers from the link in the thread.
Install "Layers" app from Play Store and then through this app apply Pixel Navbar Theme.
Make sure that You open material status bar app after flashing the rom and disable and enable it again.
Then grant permissions for notifications, and switch theme to Android O. Also grant permissions for Floatify(Check Play Store)

I spent a lot of time on making this rom, so I really hope You guys will like it!
UPDATE: Played with it for a while and WOW. I have to say that this is the smoothest rom I have ever used. On any device ever. 3.2GB free ram vs 1.9GB on stock.
Great work! Just wondering, is there any way to make the pixel 2 live wallpapers work on other roms? i installed the apk and google wallpapers but it crashes every time i open google wallpapers and tap on change wallpaper.

Note8 is too expensive, most Devs got S8 and S8+ instead. That's why rom development is so slow here.
And SD Note8 can be supported but I'd need a device to test roms and we also need TWRP for it and a kernel without encryption, knox etc. And so far SD just got root. Hopefully they will make TWRP for it too.

Just tried DeX and it only works for screen mirroring. DeX desktop doesn't load because of missing Samsung apps. No idea about GearVR though. It could work since it doesn't rely as heavily on stock Samsung apps that much. But don't forget about Daydream VR! Daydream should work just fine . You can separately install Samsung apps to get DeX to work.
And to everyone, I'm working on getting it to work on S8/+ and soon I will try to add Pixel Animations to make this rom even smoother.

Yes. That would improve Pixel experience .
So next version will have:
S8/S8+ support.
Pixel Animations (already tried them and they work but need more work).
More AROMA choices.
And for now that's it. But in the meantime I will probably find more features which I can add. Probably also Magisk modules etc . In the second post I will add changelog once second version is out.
I'm still in jail, but want to try this once free. Please leave a no-root option for install. Thanks for all of your work on this.
Can you add flashable Dex and gear VR?

Pixel Mods - Hide Apps from the Pixel Launcher! [XPOSED]

[XPOSED] PIXEL MODS
Pixel Mods is a new module that let you to finally tidy up your messy launcher with style! Long click on the home screen to access its main interface and you will be able to hide the apps you want to (3 apps can be hidden for free, then paying a small amount gives you access to everything).
It also has this functions:
- Enable debug flags in the launcher
All changes happens instantaneously, you won't even notice them!
You need to make a small in-app purchase to unlock all the functions.
FAQ:
Which Pixel Launcher versions are supported?
You can check in the changelog or directly by opening the main app interface. I won't post the list here because it would surely goes out of sync
What is Xposed, EdXposed and LSPosed? Which one should I use?
I strongly suggest to use LSPosed if you can. It is very well made and directly tested by me, if you have an old device you can use the original XPosed. EdXposed works too.
I beg you to accept my translation!
Sorry but I don't accept community translations anymore!
Available languages:
English
Italian
Screenshots:
You can find them on the store!
Known bugs:
Starting a search in some versions of the launcher brings up the app even if they are hidden. This happens because the search is managed by the Google app itself, I have yet to see if it is even humanly possible to prevent this.
Notes:
The app is also available on the old XPosed repo and the new LSPosed one.
Rootless pixel launcher is NOT supported, and never will be.
I want this feature and also that one! Sure please tell me about it. Anyway I won't give you any ETAs nor I am sure that what you ask will even be possible. I'm already digging to find some way to support icon packs but don't know if I will be able to.

Strange it is my device too! Moreover if it fails to add the menu should show you a notification to continue anyway
Troubleshooting:
- module enabled in lsposed? Pixel launcher selected as a target? Device rebooted?
- nothing works? Please disable all other modules, reboot and then see if it works. If not send me the Xposed logcat. I may also need the full logcat of the device (you can use logcat extreme from play store). PM me for these

Hey man
Sorry for being a little impatient.
Somehow it worked the next day when I rebooted again.
Great work, Thank you so much.
Your mod helped me complete my pixel launcher customization.
Would like to see more features added in the future, like the ones in the 'pixel launcher mods' app for resizing widgets and changing icons. 'Pixel launcher mod' app is very buggy.
Thanks again!

Thank you don't worry. I will consider that too (i will look into that app I didn't know it exists) I'm currently working on a way to support custom icon packs, actually I don't know if I will be able to add support for these but let's cross the fingers!
Thank you
Excellent, it works as intended; no flaws. Some features I would like to see: hide icon labels on the home screen -normally, labels are hidden only in the bottom row-. More grid options for the home screen. And folders to have a solid icon instead of a preview of the icons inside of them. Thanks man and keep up the good work

Thank you very much for that little but very helpful module. That is exactly what I was looking for my OnePlus 7 Pro with pixel experience Rom. I was disappointed that the pixel launcher doesn't offer such a functionality right out of the box. But one thing I noticed: Some apps (installed from the Playstore) aren't listed and therefore can't be hidden. In my case it is Call Recorder Unlock from Skvalex. It features an option to hide it's icon by itself but doesn't work in the pixel launcher. Pixel Mods doesn't show me the app (the Call Recorder itself can be selected, but not the license unlocker) in the list to hide.

Now comes to my mind what the problem is. See on Android 10+ it is not possible for apps to hide their icon from the drawer, so if you try to hide it with the call recorder itself it will effectively go away from pmods but not from the launcher. I will take a look at how I can workaround this problem, for now I suggest you too uninstall and reinstall the app and then DON'T use it's option to hide it but directly use pmods

It sounds like you have the same problem I had earlier with the license app. Does this app has a function to hide itself? Because if it can hide it's icon it will hide itself from pixel mods. See the devs answer:

I will take a look at how I can workaround this problem, for now I suggest you too uninstall and reinstall the app and then DON'T use it's option to hide it but directly use pmods

It sounds like you have the same problem I had earlier with the license app. Does this app has a function to hide itself? Because if it can hide it's icon it will hide itself from pixel mods. See the devs answer:

Yeah it sound like this is the same exact problem, but this time the app probably hide itself by default thus making impossible to hide it with pmods. I still have to find a way to reliably fix this but I have some ideas. I hope being able to release an update this or the coming week

it hides from Pixel mods after First Launch of Main App, but If you hide it before it's Not showing up anymore
I get the following error: "This version of the application is not configured for billing through Google Play. Check the help centre for more information."
Edit: Reinstalled and it is now working.
