Could one of you post the best way to get my Z5 C. back on stock rom, (nordic countries) - like a step 1, 2, 3, etc. as I need to take it in for a repair? Many thanks
1. Download Stock FTF using Xperifirm: https://forum.xda-developers.com/cr...xperifirm-xperia-firmware-downloader-t2834142
2. Flash Rom using Flashtool: http://www.flashtool.net/downloads.php
3. Lock Bootloader.
The million dollar question is, did you backup your TA partition? If so, restore it (this will automatically relock the bootloader), then clean flash any stock firmware.

I have searched and read through the forums and I am sorry, but I am very very confused. I ultimately don't want to screw up my phone so I am posting here to ask your guidance.
Got a brand new ZU with the 14.2.A.1.136 firmware. Now I want to flash it with the gpe firmware. I read that the first thing I need to do is TA Backup. But the TA Backup back up tool says I need root do to the backup. Now to root, I need to unlock the boot loader which will destroy the DRM keys and defeats the purpose of TA Backup.
Can some good heart, guide on exact tools and steps to use to properly backup my current firmware so that I can restore to stock when necessary and finally flash a custom rom? Thanks!
This may help you : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2569904
I did go through this. This guide is pretty unclear for the 1.136 fw. One guide for rooting as per the link in the guide requires you to unlock the BL. The other one requires you to use vroot, which I believe is not a legit tool?
It's not that hard...
Downgrade (see my sticky in the general section)
From here down follow Lordmanhattan's guide posted above
Root (Bin4ries tool)
Back up TA
Flash 4.3 or 4.4.2 FTF (Flashtool - you need the newer firmware for baseband etc)
Unlock BootLoader (Flashtool and Sony's dev site)
Flash boot.img from ROM zip (Use flashtool - this has the recoveries and kernel)
Boot into recovery and flash ROM
Hey guys,
I am new to the Z2 and Sony devices in general. I rooted and flashed Samsung and HTC devices before, so I am not a total beginner.
Basically what I wanna do is: Flash the eXistenz Rom with locked BL.
1. Flashtool
Okay, so I need to downgrade. I already downloaded the flashtool + a .314 firmware for my phone.
Do I leave the flashtool flashing options just at the defaults? I mean do I really don't wanna check things like partition and TA in the "exlude" field.
Wouldn't that mean that it is going to flash TA and re-partition the storage (doesn't really sounds like what I want). I read some threads,
but they're always like "Yeah, just click flash", so I thought I doublecheck.
2. Rooting
Okay, so theres many root methods out there, which one can you guys recommend? What root method does flashtool use?
3. Nut's
If I do all the above mentioned, I could just flash a ftf file and my phone would be completely stock right? Nut's is also some sort of hack which doesn't alter the original recovery in the recovery partition on my phone, right?
Thanks in advance.

1. yes leave flashtool options at default (it will wipe your internal storage)
TA partition isnt touchable realy, if your DRM keys exist they arent affected by using flashtool
2. Rooting depends on your firmware, 167 or newer isnt rootable via tool so you will have to folow a slightly longer task to root, easy root tool is recomended (check the info thread near the top of QnA section)
3. [NUT] Is a user who makes recovery for locked bootloaders, You need to be rooted to be able to install his recoveries
flashing a FTF will completly reset your device to stock
[NUT]'s Recovery for locked bootloader doesnt affect the boot or Recovery partition hence its ability to run on a locked bootloader

1. Okay, yeah, that makes sense if the BL is locked
2. So I'll check out Easy root tool, thx
3. That's what I thought, thank you
Title says it all...almost.
Was already rooted on 4.4.2.
I did a TA backup.
Then I followed the instructions located here to get custom XZDualRecovery .
All worked great!
Was able to boot into TWRP and Philz successfully.
Performed a full backup in TWRP onto a thumb drive over OTG cable.
Then wiped everything via TWRP in preparation for a CM11 rom.
Rebooted before trying to flash CM11.
Now can only boot to sony logo, fastboot, and "System Recovery" mode. (the mode that has 'continue power up' 'safe mode' 'factory reset' and 'power down'
I, like all the other noobs who didn't RTFM, missed the ''Be sure to flash XZ/ZL/TabZ/Z1/ZU-lockeddualrecovery[VERSION]-BETA.flashable.zip from http://nut.xperia-files.com after installing the ROM and before you reboot, this way you will not lose recovery!'' part of the XZDualrecovery post. =(
Now, my questions is, what if you DID forget to flash dual recovery after wiping?
What happens now?
I am thinking, is there a way to flash XZ/ZL/TabZ/Z1/ZU-lockeddualrecovery[VERSION]-BETA.flashable.zip via fastboot?
If so, how?
Thanks for your time and be gentle.
after 8 days with no help, I read 10 different threads on 10 different issues that KIND of pertained to my problem.
Wrote all Pertinent info down on a sheet of paper over the course of 4 days of searching.
And then started piecing together a solution.
Here's what I did to fix my issue for anyone who has the same problem.
1. Download xperifirm and select correct firmware for device
2. used Flashtool to convert above downloaded firmware to FTF
3 put tablet into flashmode
4. flash FTF file via flashtool
5. viola!
Thanks..I think.

Had a similar situation, sorry I didn't see this earlier to help out. No need to convert firmware, you can use Flashtool to download your carriers latest FTF

Thanks for the reply!
I do have a question about the ''you can use flashtol to download your carriers latest ftf" part.
are you referring to being able to download the firmware from the flashtool site here?
Or can you actually do it directly from the flashtool program?
My 2 problems are, 1. I do not see ANY firmware for my SGP561 (verizon) tablet on the website
and 2. I do not see any options for firmware download in the flashtool program
EDIT: Found it! Flashtool program > Devices > Check Updates
Is there a way to flash downgrade your firmware to a lower build number so you can officially unlock through Sony's dev site?
So, I backed up the DRM keys, rooted, installed custom recovery and kernel. Now I want to bring the phone back to the same status as it was when I received it. I thought I start by restoring the DRM keys that should also lock the BootLoader, but I'm a bit stuck and have 3 questions.
1. I bought the US variant, flashed an European one to get the fingerprint sensor - is it enough to flas the US firmware to make the phone the same way as when I got it?
2. How to get rid of custom recovery, will flashing the original US firmware take care of that?
There is a thread about restoring TA, you need also flash stock fw.

True, but this is all it says. Says nothing about flashing anything or how to restore original recovery.
===================================How To Restore TA Partiton?==================================
Note : Restoring TA Partiton Will Re-Lock The Boot-Loader And You Will Loose Root Access.
* Copy your TA partition backup to the TA tool's extracted folder.
* Connect your device with USB Debugging Enabled
* Open up a command prompt to the extracted folder and type in the following:
tarestore.bat {Your TA Backup File}
Example :
tarestore.bat TA-14102016.img
This new restored TA partition should persist across device wipes and Android upgrades.
Well you will just need to restore To ( relock bootloader) and then flash stock rom with flashtool ( wipe all, but take backups)
I was in ur shoes last week. First, if u backed up ur TA, downgrade to the firmware u did d backup (lollipop i presume), then restore ur TA, it will not restore on Marshmallow, after that then upgrade to marshmallow, u will bun-rooted n stock with ur drm keys.
Is there a way to restore back to normal if you didn't backup a TA?
I just want to unroot mine and relock the bootloader.
Root back
Hello, i tried root my phone but did not get any luck. As i understand i did not root it but changed kernel to Androplus. I want back to stock but not sure which steps i should make. At the moment i don't have rooted device also cant get sony updates as it is modified.
This is my phones data
Model E5823
Baseband version 8994-FAAAANAZQ-00033-25
Kernel version 3.10.84-v23 Androplus
Build number 32.1.A.1. 185
1) How much far i did got to root my phone?
2) What should i do get back stock firmware?
Thanks!
Hello.
Im not a pro and afraid of briсks. Please check my way i will go to revert to 7.0 stock from Lineage 14.1. Lineage is perfect, i need to revert coz of owner wish.
So, i have:
Z5 compact E5823
TWRP 3.1.1-0
Lineage 7.1.2
Root
Unlocked bootloader
What am I going to do:
I downloaded official firmware E5823_32.3.A.0.376_R2D_Russia Generic_1298-5167.ftf
Instruction from xperiafirmware dot com
paste the ftf file downloaded to folder „Firmware“ included in the XPERIA Flashtool
open the XPERIA Flashtool, click on flash and choose downloaded firmware, than click ok. Important - if you do not want to delete any data of your phone, just uncheck flashing userdata.sin file. All data will remain in your phone, but sometimes it can cause additional troubles. So it is better (and I recommend that) to do the backup of your personal data, than proceed with clean instalation and then restore your personal data.
turn off your phone and when Flashtool shows pop up window, connect phone to PC with holding volume down button
after few minutes all is done and your phone gets the new firmware
Is this way is correct?
Thank you for your attention.
