hi,
Can someone please explain me Why is it so difficult to get VOLTE working on CM13/CM14.x ROMs?
Right now I have CM13 running on my RN3SD and I have tried instructions from Sudeep's thread to get volte working on CM13. But I could not get volte working on any of the CM14.x ROMs.
Some of the ROMs state that the volte feature will run out of the box (by directly installing the ROM itself). But I did find it running. I have even tried to flash Sudeep's volte patch for N ROMs, but still volte is not wokring!
I have tried the following N roms:
1. LineageOS 14.1 by TheStrix
2. minz1's LineageOS ROM by minz
3. CM14.1 by abhishek987
4. ResurrectionRemix 5.8.0[OFFICIAL][VoLTE] by abhishek987
btw, my ultimate goal is to get VOLTE working on CM13 ROM (Official)
How to get VOLTE working is a different issue (I will figure it out somehow), but my main question is Why is it so difficult to implement so that it works simply by installing any ROM that supports this feature?
m all ears
thanks
Forget all this, the latest upload by thestrix, i.e,
lineageos has the voLTE support u are obsessed with! ? check that out and flash it! Enjoy!

I need a rom with working VOLTE n camera ..
No mess.
Anyways good job developers.
The x829 which I ordered from TomTop is on its way... and I've only just read about the woes of LeEco in US and IN, where it seems to be a matter of time before both regional ventures go broke. So while I previously thought I'd stick with the phone's stock rom and OTAs, I'm now faced with a foreseeable future with no LeEco official updates. In that case, I figure I might as well start using an alternative rom right off the bat.
So, I need a recommendation for a ROM that hopefully can meet the following criteria:
1. ongoing support with OTA patches and updates from a stable group / recognised devt team
2. all functionality on the x829 should work: fingerprint, VoLTE, 4k video, OIS, EIS, audio, ... and are there any others that may not work in different roms?
3. I'm not so concerned about marshmallow vs nougat. Nougat would be good, but life goes on as long as I get updates on marshmallow.
Based on criteria 1, I suppose that my choices are limited to the following.
a. LineageOS 13.0 - is all functionality working?
b. Resurrection Remix - M - at least VoLTE not working. any others?
Do I have any other options?
c. LineageOS 13.0 by andr68us - only supported by andr68us, would not get ongoing patches right? and if this has extra stuff compared to official lineageOS, does the official fully support the camera, IR remote, etc?
d. LineageOS 14.1 - only supported by cr3pt, would not get ongoing patches right?
d. MIUI??
f. mokkee?
g. stick with stock china rom or india rom?
h. Small EUI by aurel - No ongoing patches right?
Would appreciate your corrections and thoughts.

Use the latest official Indian ROM.
Currently all custom ROMs for Max2 are buggy or incomplete in one way or another.

True, but being able to get ongoing patches is a pretty big plug for me. That's why I seem to only really have LineageOS 13.0 official and Resurrection Remix-M official choices meeting this criteria right? Actually, I've never used either. Is the update mechanism OTA, or manual download-and-patch?
I guess I should add that OTA is nice but not strictly necessary as long as the necessary patches are consistently applied, and builds are being made. I can download and apply the patches manually (but OTA would be nice).

Thanks. Maybe that's what I'll do after all.
on the other hand... which is the least buggy custom rom? If the bugs are something I can live with, and it gives me an easier future migration path (or removes the need to migrate firmware altogether) I might take it.
Actually, all of this was on the premise that LeEco US & IN would go bust and no further pacthes will be available. Does this assumption look correct, or maybe I don't need to worry about this?
LeEco is pretty popular in India. I guess its their most valuable territory at the moment, because their attempt to infiltrate the US market has clearly failed and in China they barely make the list of top ten Android vendors.
You shouldn't have bought this phone in the first place if you expected any decent support for it. Too bad, I made the same mistake.
I'm on mokee, with the Chinese 23s modem and gapps flashed on top of it. Everything works, it has OTA.

The unofficial lineage os 13 by andr68rus is the best and most stable mm rom. Official one does not support ir. This one does. It has all the features and stability of the official one plus the ir functionality and the option for flashing viper4divine beats which actually broke the volte feature in official one. Using Selinux Mode changer app sucks. After some days apps dependent on it stop working after a few days. And regarding ota updates. Y do u need it when everything is perfectly working without bugs??. Heating is the same as dat on all other mm roms.

I agree, Indian ROM is the best stock.
Since kenzo already has AOSP & NOS oreo build available, i just wanted to know if the builds are project treble enabled or not. If not, why not?
no it wont have treble. OEM and qualcomnn must provide drivers etc from a very low level so that it works well. kenzo only had marshmellow, so definetely no. if the device came with android O then it will have.
It's a lot of work which cannot be done by a single person or a team. Even Google has to team up with the silicon vendors and oem to try bring it to current flagships. Lineage Gerrit has some treble related commits, who knows, anything can happen. But it's mostly unlikely.
Hello everyone,
I've been using Yunique for almost 2 years now and very satisfied with the development got going for it.
Lineage OS is one of the best customs out there. But the official builds never support VoLTE out of the box. Can anyone tell me why they don't include that piece of software?? Most custom roms have VoLTE integration and also in Unofficial builds of LOS. Not that I'm complaining but I'm curious to know why.:silly:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/ro...-14.1-20180425-UNOFFICIAL-jalebi.zip/download
Lineage (volte) latest use it with casium 1.7
I too have a same problem. I tend to write a feedback to lineage os team even nothing works.
Is there any alternate way to get volte fix on official lineage os builds?
let me guess
official lineage-os support the old non-volte stock rom. yu sent the volte upgrade later by ota updates, I think volte in roms need these implantation in stock rom, this can be the reason, post reply if someone has more info
Realme 1 will be popular among developers for sure.XDA acknowledged it by opening a page for our device even before its sale has started. So all that is good.
Now coming to the problems,
We all know that mediatek is infamous for not releasing kernel sources. That makes it difficult for the developers to build custom ROMs.
On a more positive note since the realme one is based on 8.1 Oreo,I am guessing that its project treble compatible(somebody please confirm this) which makes the custom ROM development easier.
So the final question,
Will we get fully working custom ROMs of future android versions even if oppo and mediatek does not release kernel sources? Will project treble help in doing that??
You most probably will not. Snapdragon phones have better development, for example, the Redmi 4A did not have kernel source till recently, yet we had bugless Nougat ROMs, and now with source we have Oreo. It all depends on developer support, Oppo is not a brand that interests developers, on top of that it is a Mediatek phone, your custom ROM dreams may well be shattered. A few ported ROMs may be made if any developer decides to make it but will most likely be too buggy.

True. But oppo has never released a phone like this.
This phone has the same chipset(helio p60) of oppo f7 which is two times more costly than the realme 1.Therefore it offers immense value for money. And this will attract a lot of customers.Normally when a device has a huge customer base and if it is a value for money device, developers usually become interested in those devices.
Also I know know that both mediatek and oppo have violated GPL many times by not releasing the sources. But since this device is treble compatible,it should solve that problem to a certain extent right?
I am open to discussion...

Yes it will help, as project treble is a initiative by Google to help developers create custom roms without approaching Vendor(Oppo) or the Manufacturer(Mediatek).

I don't need root access, but there are issues with Color OS 5.
Like:
1. New notification pop appear for 3-4 seconds and you cannot swipe and close them, you need to wait to automatically close them, hampering your work. In other OS you can simply swipe left/right/both to close popup.
2. If you enable development option, then yellow notification will show constantly to close it, until you close mode. Why can't I use function like mock location, etc.
3. If you use app which use accessibility services (like Greenify) then it will constantly show notifcation bar sign to close, it means you cannot use Developer Mode or Accessibility Services Apps.
Hope Oppo will fixes these issues with Color OS in future updates.

It confirmed via email. The reply is given below:
"Thank you for writing to RealMe Customer Service regarding Project Treble inquiry.
We are delighted to inform you that your RealMe 1 device supports Project Treble. It is already enabled in your device."
But after some researchs i realised that even if it could support project treble, we still can't flash GSI rom with a locked bootloader. (Correct me if it is a wrong findings)

You need to wait for kernel sources to get released so devs can work on custom roms. If we get a TWRP recovery, you can try out the A/B GSI roms which are good but slightly buggy. If you want a bugfree rom, you need to wait a while, maybe a month or so.
Thanks bro when can we expect releases of kernel source another quarter
