[SOLVED][MTK] Custom Recovery NEVER works on Lollipop. Help! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, first of all let me clear some things up about my phone.
Model: Intex Cloud Tread (Not a very popular phone so no developers on XDA)
Stock ROM: Android 5.1
Rooted: Yes
Chipset: MT6591 (The same as MT6592 just 2 cores less. So my guess is 6592 stuff should also work. Please correct me if I am wrong)
Kernel: 3.10.72
Bootloader: Unlocked
Custom Recovery: NO! :crying: <-- This is my issue.
I've tried MTKDROID Tools to make a CWM recovery. But when booted into the recovery it just show a grey screen and slowly fade away into a shutdown.
Tried TWRP with Easy Magic TWRP (Both Auto and Manual using the recovery.img) and it also showed the grey screen and turned off after a while.
When I searched all over google for day and nights for quite a few months now I learned that both the methods only work until KITKAT. (Still not sure about that)
I don't know what I should do next. I'm desperate for a recovery. Should I manually port a TWRP recovery? If then, from where should I port? An how exactly should I port?
I've found some recoveries for MT6592 and I was thinking if it will support my 6591 and will it work with lollipop?
Please help!

Never mind. Successfully ported TWRP 3.0. I will soon upload it here for other users...

[Q] Custom Recovery Black Screen

Hi guys,
First up here are the details of the phone that I am currently using:
Zeaplus M7
MediaTek MT6752
Android 5.0
Root = YES
Unlocked = YES
Secure = NO
The Problem
I have compiled CWM using the CM-11.0 branch, and TWRP using the OmniRom and TWRP Minimal sources, but I always end up with the same problem, regardless of whether I flash CWM or TWRP.
After flashing either of the recovery.img files to the phone, I can attempt to boot into recovery and what happens is the phone restarts, sits at the splash logo (boot screen) and sits there for around 15-30seconds (using the stock recovery, it will already have booted by this point), and then it will just restart the phone and it will continue to boot to the system as normal.
This happens on both CWM and TWRP. What is causing both the recoveries to hang at the boot screen without actually entering the recovery? Is there a way I can get a logcat or log of what is happening during the recovery bootup so I can check if there are any error messages going on behind the scenes that I am missing out on?
If you need anymore information please let me know!
Thanks
Just committed the most recent files for a CWM (11.0) build. (Also contains some older files used for the TWRP build)
https://github.com/alien-13/android_device_zeaplus_m7
Hopefully that may help out a little bit more. Not 100% sure what could be causing the issue as the P6000 has a working TWRP, and I have based this device tree around the P6000 device tree (with specific changes made to suit the M7).
Not sure if this will help, I also have the z+m7 , have tried the ele p 7000 Rom on it and it works fine, twrp installs fine, but will not download from playstore , both are from needrom made by s7yler, when I go back to m7 Rom with the p7000 twrp package exactly the same happens as happens to your phone, have noticed in m7 Rom and Mijue t500 Rom which are the same, there is a file called Encrypt, which I have never seen in other roms.could this be a problem
There is now a twrp for the zeaplus m7 on the zeaplus forum

Hi Bro,

@Maucurezo
Hey dude! Im a pinoy. Im running with my STARMOBILE PLAY CLICK. As same as yours. Im running on the same Spreadtrum SC7731C and I flashed a Custom Recovery but it would only bring me to bootload. I kept finding solutions to get my Stock recovery but failed. We have the same Problem. I need the Custom recovery too. Help us admins
You can try and do it yourself. Porting TWRP and CWM to a new device. You'll need the stock rom for your device or simply make an image "dump" of the system files (boot.img, etc) via adb. Goodluck.
TWRP for sc7731c hope it helps
hi all a have a sc7731c phone on android 6.0 and i was able to install twrp on my device
it all started when i found a stock rom on the web (Google your device for stock - rom or - firmware)
once i had the rom i started searching for a way to extract the stock recovery from the rom
and i found this tool SPD_Upgrade_Tool_R4.0.0001 using this tool i extracted my stock
recovery from the ROM ( recovery.img ) , first stage complete i had a stock recovery
taken from a rom for my phone - brand and model must be right on the stock
firmware/rom or you risk damaging you phone (DO NOT CHEAT PLZ)
ps:wen you unpack the firmware/rom you should get a .pac file
ps:finding my stock rom took me several days of search.
now for STAGE 2 i had a stock recovery a needed to change it
for twrp another few days of search i came across a site
called hovatek here i found a tool to port (change) the
stock recovery to boot the twrp recovery the tool name is
[Hovatek] Spreadtrum (SPD) Auto TWRP Recovery Porter V1.0 by Team Hovatek (x86)
i run my stock recovery with this tool the tool creates a modified recovery on the
output folder( a few kb bigger ) stage 2 done.
STAGE 3
1- a fully working ADB, for this your best option is android-studio
2-turn on USB debuging and OEM unlock in DEV options
3-name the new recovery file recovery.img
4-your device has to be in USB MTP mode
5-if ADB is properly installed and Windows has the correct android device
driver you should be able to use these commands using android-studio's ADB
command-adb devices
-if the device is detected a serial number apears
command-adb reboot bootloader
-the device reboots to a black screen with small white letters saying FASTBOOT mode
command-fastboot devices
-the device displays the serial number again
command-fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
- if all went well it will say successful
command-fastboot reboot
-dont remenber if it booted straight to twrp or if i had to use power + volume up
-by the way on my phone to get in the default recover its 1 second hold power
and then with the power pressed for 1 sec add volume up 3 sec and let go of both
any way it worked i hope it helps ppl with these sc7731c phones
i have twrp 3.0.0 fully working
tips: youtube vídeos on how to use SPD_Upgrade_Tool_R4.0.0001
the hovatek site has a great tutorial on how to use the recovery porter tool
the last part the ADB commands was a ***** as Windows did not install my device
correctly and this is crucial -install phone driver manualy/Google device/Google android device. good luck
ps: all merit goes to the developers of these tool, a great ty to them :highfive:
ps: at the start i did NOT have root, the success flashing the ported twrp recovery
was followed bi the installation of the magisk15.3.zip and voila twrp+root
any one help me i port twrp using adb but after i flash my twrp upside down on sc7731ceb it works fine but the twrp upside down any help me

humm,.. as far as i now adb does not port recovery image´s you mean you found an image for sc7731?? phone and there are at least 4 or 5 variations of the sc7731 board and you
flashed it on your phone, by shear luck you did not soft-brick or brick your phone and it actualy Works, :cyclops:
you need to search Google/xda/hovatek site for your brand and model´s stock recovery or even better your custom recovery
or as an alternative your stock ROM/FIRMWARE and then extract the stock recovery from ROM/FIRM port it and flash it
im prety shure someone out there has a phone like your´s and you can , when you find it download the stock recovery - the custom recovery - or the ROM/FIRMWARE file
the hovatek site has a great auto port tool all you need is your stock recovery follow the vídeo simple steps and flash it now that you have root just use
twrp oficial app to flash it ,se my tutorial above it will be easy once you have the stock recovery or rom/firmware
i have a 50 buck cheap phone wierd brand,it took me several days to find the stock rom/firmware once i did all worked just fine no strange stuff
hovetek site also has a lot of rom´s/firmware files for many brands and model´s , again search Google/xda/hovatek for your model + stock recovery or recovery.img, custom recovery.
good luck

[MT6592] Need help flashing recovery and custom rom on a generic Chinese tablet

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I've searched around for hours and couldn't find a solution.
Tablet Specification (from AnTuTu):
Brand: T906
CPU model: MT6592
Root: Yes
Android SDK version: 19 (Android 4.4)
Kernel: 3.4.67
Back story: so I bought a generic Chinese tablet online which came with android kitkat. The app I wanted to use (simply piano) unfortunately only runs on Android Lollipop and newer, so I wanted to flash custom rom.
Problem: I managed to root the tablet using KingRoot, but failed to flash custom recovery like TWRP and my understand is that you can't flash custom rom without a custom recovery.
What I've done: I found a twrp .img file that claims to work with the exact CPU and Kernel of my device here. I then attempted to flash said twrp using the following methods:
1. Androids apps (Flashify, RashR, Official TWRP App)
2. ADB and Fastboot (when I use 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img', it says partition recovery 'recovery' not support flash)
3. Flashtool (followed the steps of this website)
Even after what seemed like a successful flash, whenever I try to boot to recovery, it just goes straight to normal startup and my lockscreen appears.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Edit: I forgot to mention about the bootloader. I tried using the dialer method to check if the bootloader is unlocked but nothing pops up, then I tried the adb method (fastboot oem device-info) but it just shows blank. Then I tried the 'fastboot getvar unlocked', and it returned 'Unlocked: ', so I'm not really sure if the bootloader is unlocked but I just continued with it.
Also interested in a ROM. These generic 10" tabs are shockingly good for <£50 with just the software letting it down.

Help with rooting Oukitel C15 PRO 3GB V

Hi all,
I'm new here and was wondering if I could get some help.
I recently purchased an Oukitel C15 Pro, which I am now trying to root but without any success.
From my own research, there are 2 versions of the Oukitel C15 Pro, one that is 2 gb ram and another one which is 3gb ram. Mine is the updated version 3gb with V14 build number.
Here is some info:
Build number - OUKITEL_C15 Pro_V14.0_20191121
Baseband - E557_61_P0_LWTG_V0.3.0_S191028
OS - Android 9.0
Processor - MT6761V/WBB - ARMv7 Processor rev 4, 4 cores at 2ghz arm cortex a53
So far I have managed to find the stock rom file and twrp recovery file for Oukitel C15 Pro.
I seem to be having issues with booting into recovery. I have literally tried everything.
I've tried flashing it via adb, trying to boot from adb into recovery etc. I've also tried using the SP flash tool. It does the flashing perfectly fine without any errors as I have already unlocked the bootloader and debugging is on, but the phone just seems to always load into its stock recovery and not twrp.
I've also tried patching the boot file with majisk, again no errors whatsoever, however when trying to boot, it boots into the normal system without any changes being made. I have all drivers installed etc and I honestly have no idea what I'm doing wrong.
I know that on some phones you have to boot directly into recovery after flashing otherwise the stock recovery will overwrite the twrp but again no luck, it just boots into the stock file.
I have also tried booting it via adb directly into recovery once flashed but no luck, normal recovery loads. When I try to do adb sideload I get error E 21 verification failed.
Does anybody have any advice on what I need to do to root my device? Maybe the files I have downloaded are wrong? I have no idea. I'd literally appreciate any help/links etc.
Thank you
You are not alone

How to port TWRP for Alcatel 1T 7 8067 Tablet

Hi everyone. As I have said on former posts, I'm trying to port TWRP on my tablet Alcatel 1T 7 8067, MT6580 processor, 600 x 1024 px of resolution, Android oreo go, and so on. I have ported TWRP successfully before, on several devices (I mean, functions and touchscreen worked fine), but it seems that I forgot all that knowledge, because now I haven't could to port TWRP successfully on my recent device.
I have read and seen many tutorials about it. The easiests that seemed me, were by using Auto TWRP Porter and carliv image kitchen methods, but if they had worked, I wouldn't be here asking for help.
For instance, I prefer carliv image kitchen method, because seems me more customizable. I understand that I need to unpack stock rom, and TWRP. I understand that reference TWRP image, must be for the same proccessor as my device. But when tutorials try to explain that I must copy, delete, and edit files, I got confused, among other things, because copied and edited files, vary as the tutorial. And Auto TWRP porters, haven't produced working TWRP images.
Another question ¿Is it the same flashing TWRP by using SP Flash tool, that using fastboot command? I ask that because at this time I'm using sp flash tool, and my bootloader is locked (and I don't know if this could help, but at boot, system warns me with a "red state")
So please help me with that. Thanks in advance.
