So, In order to better prepare for the Nougat update whenever Lenovo/Motorola decided to give it's U.S. customers the official OTA, I had decided to Unroot my phone and install Stock firmware official version .64. Went through all the steps, got a No command error screen when trying to get to recovery, also showed Modified in FastBoot mode. Also, I had decided to do this because I was having some irritating Error Report issue always downloading.
Anyway, I learned that I can hold Power then press UP volume button once then release power to get to Recovery despite the "No Command" screen. Also, eventually that I needed to downgrade to .49, then accept the .64 OTA in order to get rid of the "Modified" message in Fastboot Screen. So, went through all the trouble to download the .49 firmware, flashed it, etc. When I got into my phone, I checked for Software updates as soon as I was able, to get the .64 update. But, lo and behold, instead I was gifted with a screen explaining that I would instead be getting Androud 7.0 Nougat. Awesome. I live in California. Was totally not expecting Nougat, because I check almost every day and would never get that long awaited message lol.
So I am surprised. I noticed, when I flashed straight to .64 firmware and checked for Software updates, I Did Not get the Nougat OTA notification. Only with the .49 firmware. I didn't think to take a screen shot, and am currently downloading the Nougat update now. When it is installed, I'll take a screenshot of the firmware version once booted into my phone. It's about time, I'm going to be ordering the G5 for my wife tomorrow, and was a tad bit jealous that it would already come with Android 7.0 lol. Hope this gets the rest of you American users excited, and hope this information helps. You can find a guide how to downgrade here in the forums or google, or at stechguide website. PS- I cannot guarantee nor take responsibility that you will have the same luck to get the OTA as I did. Downgrade at your own discretion.
Notice the firmware version. Joy!
I would have done this if I waited 2 weeks earlier. If more people get it and can confirm, just maybe I will unroot and go back to stock. But I love all the customizations with Resurrection Remix.

I too didn't get an OTA update notice when I went back to .64 stock/unrooted . So I said the heck with it and went back to Invicta and will stay there. I ran stock nougat flashed via the TWRP flashable files that were available for a while. But when the rubber meets the road, I see no advantages to going through the hassles of downgrading my phone to stock anything given that the features, performance, stability and battery life are far better on various custom ROMS. Not to mention that the security is more up to date. Just my own opinion.
hmmmm..interesting...tempted to try this out
My phone is too new to be rooted (sorry, I no longer do that first day...) After seeing the earlier posts I checked last night, no luck.
Today is another day! New version installing now. NPJ25.93-14 just said, "Hello, Moto". Woohoo!
Peace,
Tom

Does anyone have the OTA files? I suspect I will have to manually flash the files in Fastboot due to earlier impatience (I did nougat soak test and then downgraded back to stock). Now the regular ota keeps giving me error which I am assuming is tied to the gpt.bin error I got when I downgraded. I can't do anything scripted. Gotta install manually from fastboot.
Just for your info... The Amazon ad remover doesn't work after the update. XT1625

My wife's just got the update. Mine is unlocked and rooted. If someone can tell me the steps to get back to a position to download the ota, and root again, and pull the image, I'll happily do it. I'm on .48 right now. Looks like I need to relock the bootloader and reload .48 fresh, but I'm not real sure at this point.

I dunno. Try searching the G4+ forum? There is a post that tells you how.
I got the update before the weekend and installed it. Everything went smooth and the changes are very nice. I've noticed the Bluetooth issues I had seem fixed (dropping connections, having to de-pair, power cycle and re-pair). However, one annoying thing still persists and it seems related to Do Not Disturb. Sometimes the audio never comes back after DND. Notifications, touches, calls, they're all silent after DND is turned off. I have to power cycle the phone and then it works. I had this issue on Marshmallow and Motorola advised me to wipe & reset. That took care of the issue but it seems to have come back for now. No other issues that I can find right now.
The only thing I've noticed is with my wifi . Every now and then it doesn't auto connect when returning home. This was reported by a number of people during the soak test but I guess it wasn't important enough because the OTA was released anyway. Also, I previously had the option of connecting with 2.4GHz, 5GHz, or auto. Now there is no option and I've noticed that sometimes I'm connected with 2.4 and sometimes with 5 but it seems to be random.

I'm new to this phone Can anyone give me a link to the ".49 firmware"
I ordered this phone as an early xmas gift for my mother during black friday, got it for $115 32gb unlocked from B&H Photo. Just wanted to mention as a current Nexus 6 owner I'm surprised how this phone is basically pure android with the exception of 2 Moto apps. I was able to upgrade from 6.0 to Nougat out of the box and then the security patches without any issues. Once all updates were done I just erase the device to factory and setup as expected. Jealous it's running faster than my Nexus 6 (and I'm running performance mode using ex kernel manager). Only wish Motorola can reboot the nexus 6 with a bigger screen and fingerprint.

I'm just wondering, I purchased a phone on ebay (not knowing it was flashed/rooted). The boot animation says "clean rom" so after researching this site and the forums for this device, I see that it's probably a rom you guys are familiar with and it seems to be ICS based (from what I can see). With that being said, does this mean when they actually RELEASE the stock ICS that I probably won't get the update to my phone? Because I really would like to see what their stock version will be like. Can anyone answer that question or has it even been asked before?
you can't take the OTA rooted or while unlocked but you can flash the RUU once it gets posted after relocking your phone. hopefully by then we will have s-off.

So does this mean I will no longer be able to receive updates to my phone with this "s-off" or what ever? That sucks, and I can't seem to follow the steps that have been given to get it back to a stock rom or "ruu" what ever THAT means. lol ****that moment when you realize you might look dumb or "newbish" for posting what you just posted****
Your phone has been hacked a little bit, and it's always going to have tell-tale signs.
The worst case scenario is that you have to manually install the next official update and manually relock the phone, which will always say "Relocked" in the boot menu. But if you do everything by the book you should be able to get it back to stock in every other way, including taking subsequent updates over the air normally.
If they get s-off working and you're willing to experiment, it may be possible to completely revert the phone to stock. But that's quite a bit more hackage in order to get your phone "unhacked."

To be honest, the only thing I really want is to be able to get it stock on the basis of the apps, getting system updates etc. I'm not concerned with it having evidence of being "tampered with" "hacked" or "rooted". lol It already says "re-locked" The problem is the instructions I've gotten on here seem to go over my head. I might have to be walked through it like a little 3 or 4 year old being taught to sound out little words for the first time. lol Hey, I'm just saying..... No seriously though, I have a MAC and all of the instructions here seem to be based on having a PC
This can be done. But you're going to need to have somebody who knows what they're doing relock and reset your phone from the official ICS RUU after it's released, probably from a PC. There's nothing can be done before then.

So this means I'll need to basically need to take or send it to someone to get this done? I don't know why all of these instructions seem like their in spanish to me now, about 3 years ago I used to flash and unlock WM devices almost every other day. I guess I should've never stopped, but once the g1 came out and switched to android devices I stopped flashing and now I'm lost because I need to "tamper with" my phone again, but can't seem to get going at all. I mean SERIOUSLY, I used to flash WM devices so often that if a certain period of time went by without me finding a rom worth "flashing" I'd start having withdrawals. Now i'm feeling like an absolute IDIOT when it comes to getting into these android devices. I think part of that has to do with the fact that I only had PC's and now not only am I trying to tamper with android for my first time, but I only have mac computers as well.
Go to settings, about phone, software information, more, and write what your baseband version is.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1417839
This thread may help you getting osx and fastboot going so you can relock and run an ruu. As was stated above, what is your baseband? If the previous owner flashed the leaked ics you will not be able to go all the way back to stock until either an official ics is released or the s-off tool is released. Good luck!
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
Unless you have issues, I would leave it as is for the time being. Take time to learn how to do all the stuff you need to do.
The custom ROMs really do make the phone better, you may find you want to keep it in the end. Battery life is much better on a good ROM.
When the official update comes out, we will have a new ROM based on the update within a day or two at most of the release anyway.
The baseband (the radio firmware) is also important. And unfortunately we can not downgrade to older basebands due to not having S=off. So if you are on the newest leaked version then you can run the old stock software.
BTW S=off (or S=on) is a security flag located in the firmware. S=on limits what parts of the phone you can flash and change. S=off gives you full access, it will allow you to downgrade as well. S=off also makes it easier to brick your phone because it does let you change software that is bootstrap essential, the baseband and hboot (sort of like BIOS) for example.
I separate the idea of bootstrap from boot. Most people associate booting with the OS, but bricking effects the firmware initializing the hardware that allows the OS to load and boot. So you get to see the old school term used.

The baseband is 1.22.10.0310r, 1.22.10.0308r It also says clean rom 4.1. I don't mind waiting until an offcial ics is released, but I will I be able to receive THAT instead having to have a "dev equivalent" version is what I'm wondering....
It's like I said. Those radios are new, and part of a firmware upgrade that can't be completely backed out. Your simplest bet is to wait for the official ICS release, and then you (or someone more technical) can apply it manually. After doing that and relocking your phone, it should start to take updates automatically again. You'll also have the full factory-installed "bloatware" suite of software.
It's possible to downgrade all the other parts of your software manually back to the latest stock release, but it's expected that your current upgraded firmware version will continue to prevent you from taking OTA releases. It would be good training, actually, though you'll get better results and more support from a PC than on a Mac. If you figured out how to do all this, then you could get your phone back on the HTC software track yourself.
Depending on your flexibility, maybe you can find someone here you could send your phone to who can put it back on the official release track. But even they won't be able to put a permanent fix on it until the official ICS release comes out and somebody uploads it as a manually-installable package.

EDIT:
So did the seller not mention on eBay that the phone had been customized?
Some of the responses lean toward telling you how to flash your phone for yourself. Is that something you'd have any interest in? Do you really want to go back to stock, or do you just want to see the difference?
Are you having any problems with the phone?
The custom ROMs are better, overall, but they usually have one or two bugs that you have to learn to live with. (Which is not to say that stock ROMS are bug-free, though the final versions of stock ROMs tend to be very, very stable.) But if you are on custom ROMs, then you're completely off the automatic update path, and everything will have to be done manually.
So unless you want to learn how to flash your own phone, the only way to get updates is to set it back to stock so HTC and Verizon can handle the updates for you. And therein lies the dilemma, because that in itself is something which must be flashed manually from where you're currently at.
(Oh, and you're probably going to end up losing any of your own customizations in the process, though the data on your SD card should be safe.)

Well, I've kind of decided to just keep what I have. I don't have any issues other and it seems to run smoothly. What I REALLY want to see is what the official update will be like as being "stock released" when it comes out and was concerned that I might not be able to get the update because of the "clean rom" I have now being ICS based (as far as I can see). Other than that, I'm fine until then.
You really should consider leaving negative feedback if they ebay seller did not state in the auction that the phone was rooted and running a custom rom. If I sell a phone and im too lazy to revert it to stock ill ALWAYS state its rooted and what its running in the auction etc

seems like people are giving you information that is kinda all over the place.
Lemme try and help clear this up, since you are in a odd scenario.
You are running cleanrom 4.1 on a re-locked phone. For starters, cleanrom 4.1 is based off the current ics LEAK and is not an official OTA update. Chances are high you won't be able to get the OTA if the rom is not a stock rom, and also because chances are you don't have a stock recovery even though it is relocked. Since you are currently on the latest leaked firmware, not an official firmware, you can run the RUU for the phone and go back to stock. In your case, your kinda lucky with this, as you don't technically need a computer to run it. You would need someone to extract the PH98IMG.zip file from the RUU.EXE file for you to run when the OTA comes out through Hboot.
Be for warned, doing it like this, will wipe all data.
I would say you should run the leaked RUU on the phone, as since it is a beta testing Leak, you should still get the OTA, and that way the phone will think it is completely stock and get the latest update.
If you wanna do this, ask and we can help you.

Yes, I'm VERY interested, I'm not worried much about the data wipe, between what's backed up to my google account and my SD card, I'll be fine with a data wipe. My battery life is also HORRIBLE for some reason with this rom, but since I've not had it stock yet, I guess I can't REALLY say it's good or bad. But my Droid Bionic's battery life was at least twice as good as this phone's seem to be and I don't use it any more than I did the Bionic.
I will tell you right now the battery life will most likely get worse if you go to stock.
Now if the person who sold it installed a custom kernel rather than the one Scott includes in his ROM (scott makes clean ROM) then battery life could be worse than it should be.
Second, this is a 4.3 inch HD screen... it eats battery like a starving animal.
Third, try cleanROM developers edition (a very striped out cleaned up stock based ROM) or cleanROM senseless. I am running cleanROM developers edition and I get double to triple the battery life over stock.
Unless I actually use the phone... When I use it a lot, I do not get that big of a jump. When using the phone the battery life will be similar due to the screen and CPU use remains similar to what stock would be. (which you would expect, the screen will always use the same power, same for CPU) Its when the phone is in standby mode that you see the real gains. Because all the extra junk that is in the stock software is pulled out and isn't constantly running in the background, waking the phone, starting the cell radio to phone home, etc.
Senseless and the Developers edition have their quirks caused by removing so much of the stock sense based apps and functions and replacing with AOSP versions. Thinks like the caller ID not showing up on the screen until you unlock the phone because the sense phone/dialer can not talk to the AOSP lockscreen. Nothing major just different.
Hey friends, I am very new to the rooting scene. I have a at&t htc m8 and i made the mistake of trying to root the fast and easy way. I followed a guide by a user names Unlocker. I would post the link but am unable to at this current time because i am new here
That has it's readers use hasoon2000's all in one toolkit. Well I think I screwed up in that process. when my phone was off and charging , the screen would briefly flash the TWRP ui with their lock screen. So naturally I freaked out tried my best to unroot the damn thing by following a guide created by the same guy after he got many complaints of issues
Naturally I had problems with this aswell. Now where i'm at, at this current moment is
**tampered** ***unlocked**
I successfully (i think) removed super su and did my best to get back to stock firmware. well I failed at that aswell. I still have TWRP on my phone and managed to get security turned back on.
What I am asking is for any references or maybe even some fresh help on how i can either get my phone back to stock firmware so i can take the OTA updates and be on my merry way or maybe reccomend a custom rom I can use that has the new lolipop software.
Now i was looking to update my TWRP but I am unable to locate an AT&T verison. I see sprint , verizon, and GSM. I feel pretty helpless right now but if i can get some instruction I know I will be able to figure this out.
I'm still really new to this also, but I'll try my best (just take everything I say w/ a grain of salt...):

Do you mean that you'd successfully done whatever you were doing and this was happening in normal use? AFAIK it is normal for the the screen to power off during long-running TWRP actions, and power button wakes it up.

Which firmware do you have on it now? Do you have ADB installed? If so, it might be helpful if you post the output of the command

. If not, I think you'll need ADB and fastboot to help recover.

AT&T uses GSM. The GSM version should be correct. Depending on the firmware you have installed, specific versions of twrp may not work. In my case, twrp 2.8.4.0 wouldn't work on AT&T's stock 4.4.2 firmware, but would on the 4.4.4 firmware.
EDIT: Did you make a TWRP backup before attempting these changes? Depending on the state of your firmware, restoring that might be enough to fix things.
AT&T Stock 4.4.4 RUU
This should solve your problem, if you can achieve s-off again:

All the panic is for nothing. Its normal for the TWRP screen to appear for a brief moment when the device is powered off, and you connect the charger. At least on older versions of TWPR (and the version installed by Hasoon's toolkit is quite old).

The TWRP version you want is the GSM. All versions of the M8 are essentially the same (and considered "GSM") except for the CDMA (Sprint & Verizon) and dual SIM variants.

What the OP is describing was a known bug, and happened when outside of recovery and while the phone was powered off (and while connecting the charger).
Wow thank you for fast responses!
So from my understanding I have a outdated TWRP version. I suppose I need to read up on how to update this and also how to flash a new rom. I only rooted my phone so I could pair up my ps3 controller to my phone so I can play games on it. I regret doing it now to be honest because I have modded my 3ds to play the same games i was using on my phone
I would love to be on the lolipop update that launched yesterday I believe. Should I stick to a rooted rom or just flash a stock version? Can anyone recommend a good lolipop root that has some tweaks for battery life and overall performance?

Just get the latest version of TWRP from their website. As you are asking what version (CDMA vs. GSM) it sounds like you are already getting there.
It sounds like you have the version of TWRP that was installed by the toolkit. That version is many months old. But its a minor bug, anyway. How often do you charge the phone with it powered off, anyway. I also don't think you can do anything in TWRP in this condition (if a security risk is your concern). The TWRP appears for a split second, and that's it.

I would love to be on the lolipop update that launched yesterday I believe. Should I stick to a rooted rom or just flash a stock version? Can anyone recommend a good lolipop root that has some tweaks for battery life and overall performance?

Lollipop didn't launch for AT&T, its just a long-delayed 4.4.4 update for us. To update to 4.4.4, either return to stock ROM and stock recovery to get the OTA, or relock the bootloader and run the official RUU.
Lollipop (5.0) started to roll out for some Euro CIDs, and has been out for US Dev Edition for a while. But you can't get to Sense Lollipop unless you s-off (or until AT&T releases it).
Recently picked it up, an SGP561. I have some questions and I'd love all of the help I can get.
1. How to install a custom ROM on it (just in case). If I can't get the updated Sony firmware, I might as well jump to an Android 5 ROM once they're stable.
2. How to update the stock firmware. Everytime I go to the System Update thing it says there was an "Error during DM Session"? I'd really like to update to 4.4.4 stock to get some of those nifty Sony features.
3. Anyway to get the damn thing to shut up when I turn it on? I'm not using it on a data network, just WiFi, but I like having the option, but everytime I start the damn thing up (from being completely off) it makes a calling new and does through this automated annoying thing asking me about purchasing a calling pin, and it does that for about 7 minutes and makes me about go insane.
Anyway, thanks guys. Boxes of donuts to all of those who answer.
(Already rooted the thing)
Hi Grayson,
1. Currently, there is no way to unlock the SGP561's bootloader. So basicly, you can't install any custom rom that is not based on stock rom (or use custom kernel).
2. Mine gets the same error. But you can download the latest ftf file for SGP561 and flash it manually using flashtool (sadly, the latest version is still at 4.4.2).
3. I face the similar situation, the tablet automatically dial some number to activate it when it boots up. All I did was just simply removing the Verizon SIM card (I don't use data anyway).
1. Well ****. That's actually very concerning... This tablet probably won't ever see Android 5.0 then... unless some genius out there cracks this bootloader deal. I know how Verizon is with things.. or I'll see an outdated version of Android a year after all other variants get it. Are there any ROM options?
2. How do you go about doing that? Pardon the noobishness.
3. Thanks! I didn't even know that there was a SIM card in there in the first place. That was a great help. Same here though.

1. Yeah, I know how that feels. You bought one of the top high-end tablet and then figured out that it has the outdated software and there is no way to update. I've been looking for other solutions for months but still found nothing.
2. The latest version is now 17.1.D.0.437. You can check in your tablet settings to know whether yours is on the latest or not. If it's not the following links may help.
Here is the instruction how to use flashtool (just in case you have no idea about it): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2054486
And here is the link for the latest ftf file for SGP561: https://mega.co.nz/#!VZYHRAKT!wky8U_6G9aB4XctdfKMIaJQZtdlnWTtNv0pNLlgh0AM (I got from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2-tablet/help/flashed-wrong-boot-bricked-t2839828)
Well this all sucks a lot. Why can't they just leave the bootloader unlocked... hopefully this tablet wasn't just a massive waste of money.

I got mine two days ago, also have the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2, which I use at the office, but I needed something that had a smaller screen, was light, and had 4G, and the Sony ticked the right boxes. I WISH I could use Xposed but it can't write to /System. I have it rooted and got rid of some bloat, and the only thing I really want now is for Xposed to work.
You guys don't think Verizon will update this tablet to Lollipop?
Hi I just updated my tablet to lollipop and I'm having problems with it. I tried downloading the ftf for kitkat above but he kinks we're dead. Do you still have it by chance?
Still no options to unlock the Verizon's SGP561 ?

Remember, we're talking specifically about the Verizon LG G3 (VS985) so if you have a different phone (AT&T, overseas, etc), then it's a different story there.
Also, these get sent out in batches, possibly based on your IMEI number, so if you haven't received it yet, you need to be patient. I got mine around 1 pm EST yesterday.
So far, so good. I'm about ready to turn off Greenify and SnapDragon BatteryGuru, but even at this point, I went to bed with 93% left on the battery. Woke up 6 hours later and it went down to 92%. Since going back to stock (from Jasmine ROM) in an unrooted state, I was still dropping 3% to 5% over the same period when going to bed. Upgrading to Marshmallow, still in an unrooted state and still running Greenify and BatteryGuru, I'm back to where I was with Jasmine ROM (almost). With Jasmine, I didn't drop 1% over night when it was sitting there unused, but definitely, Dozer mode seems to work as advertised.
So at this point, my only gripe is with how they mount the external SD card now. Not sure why and I've searched to see if there's a way to override that, but so far, I haven't found anything. Makes it very difficult to remember (for me anyways) to go to /storage/3894-D900 but I'll keep digging.
Also, from what I understand, with the G3, you cannot make your external SD card "appear" to part of your internal memory which could be a good thing anyways since you have to reformat your SD Card to encrypt it. Plus, SD Cards are slower than internal memory and I'm using it to store pictures and music and backups, so no loss there for me.
Otherwise, so far, an excellent OTA. I must say again how I feel the G3 so far has been the best Android phone I've had yet. Definitely beats my RAZR HD I had previously, as well as my RAZR MAXX (but those were two of my favorite phones before this one).

@andy_zhang can't get the OTAs that way because he's not using a Verizon SIM, although trying to get it the first way probably won't work either, for the same reason.
@andy_zhang , you'll most likely have to wait for a KDZ if you don't want to flash a custom ROM.

I'm not sure I understand the question. I posted the 46A OTA file I got yesterday in the other thread you posted in. I'm sure as soon as someone is able to retrieve the KDZ it'll be posted here or in a new thread. Have you tried @xdabbeb 's stock 46A ROM?
A friend of mine did the update and has bunch of problems from what she told me. Can't call is one example.
Got Mine
Got Mine Yesterday afternoon. So far loving it. No problems and battery life is great. Also working fine with my LG Urbane Watch.

Im from india and i updated to 35b via software assistant tool... Im at work now but i ll let you know if its working for this update too..
Now, I might be crazy, but something I've noticed that I don't believe was there before when adb shelling in is using the TAB key to auto-complete file and directory names. That's something that is present in UNIX CLI shells but I had noticed it wasn't there in Android (at least in previous incarnations).
After this MM update, that works! Thank goodness. Makes navigating around those long directory names so much easier now with less typing and wear and tear on my fingers.

Nice! Thanks!
So far so good. I haven't performed a factory reset just to see if any issues would arise. The only issue I've had is the family base companion has force closed but I never used it and I was able to uninstall the app.
Only updated features I've noticed are:
UI update for the settings menu
Pressing the power button results in a new reboot UI
Time/Date header has a smaller font size
Animations much faster
Battery life is much better
A few new updates to system icons
Updated Dialer/Contacts UI
Speakerphone is louder
I'm sure there's more I'm missing but that's what I've noticed.
I also installed MM and so far love it.
I mentioned in another thread, had a problem with connecting to car via Bluetooth, resetting all device setting in the Factory reset menu fixed it nicely.
Love the G3 so far, great phone.

Verizon sofware assistant is not yet working for this update..
You can try another way but im not sure about it..
Download Lg mobile support tool and run it on your computer...
Connect your phone to PC and click on "option " tab which is in downloaded software.
In Option Menu click on update recovery....
It will start downloading the update but i cant confirm this update is of marshmallow or not.
Update size is 1678Mb
Make sure to backup personal data before updating.
PS- Do not uninstall verizon software assistant as it contains phone drivers which will help you to connect your phone to Lg Mobile Support software

It's normal and common behavior that at first it says there's an update and then says there's not. You just have to wait until they make the KDZ available for the tool to download.
Do the official tools usually work for you even without using a Verizon SIM card?
Hey gang, Im tired of waiting for the OTA for T-Mobile. My bro and sis (Comcast & Sprint) already have it.
Qs:
1) Should I clear cache in download mode before starting? Factory reset phone? (Askin because I saw a few people had minor issues)
2)I downloaded CRC2 from Updato, I noticed it errored after unrar (2 diff PCs). Did anyone else get an error?
Im downloading CRC2 from Sammobile as I type to see if theirs error. WinRAR ver 3.90, files appear to be intact from Updato.
3) I backed up my 7.1.1 via SmartSwitch , will delete S.Switch and restart PC before attempt. But in the case something goes wrong or I don't like 8.0. Can I use the 7.1.1. backup & reinstall it with Switch or do I have to reflash BRA9 via Odin, then restore my back up? (which I honestly wouldn't care about as getting to 7.1.1. would be the goal)
Sorry if these are newbish Qs, rather ask in advance before trying on my daily.
I got my update from tmobile. Did u check by pushing update button. Mine was on April 2nd

Yes, Ive tried daily since April 1st. Me & the wife Note 8 hasnt seen it. Im in north west Indiana if its geographically released.
I'm in central ny so not to far off but different time zones I think.
Hopefully a few others near me chime in, if they have it or not. Was CRC2 for your update?
I'm in portland oregon. No update yet.
I'm in Louisiana and no update for me either.
Strange. I got my OTA a couple weeks ago OTA from tmobile. Might want to connect to a computer via Smart Switch. That should give you the update.

Yep, me or the Mrs still haven't gotten the OTA. I have a backup and will try a factory reset with no Samsung theme to see if that'll cure it today

No OTA, no joy with SmartSwitch either. I'm in the Seattle area, about 10 miles from T-Mobile HQ. Neither T-mobile support nor Samsung support on Twitter can figure out why the phone hasn't received the update. Thinking about ODIN.

I went ahead and did it through ODIN, took literally 4 min or so to actually do it., I did back up me & mrs 7.1.1. through SmartSwitch before trying and also fully uninstalled it to prevent it from fighting with ODIN. Just a recap: I was on BRA9, T-Mobile. Had a few concerns with the Oreo not unzipping correctly from Updato. All is well on my end.
Just be aware that there are problems with the current Oreo version for the Note 8. That is the reason why T-Mobile stopped sending out that version of Oreo Android to Note 8 devices right now. The last I heard of is that Samsung went to Google for help on the problems. So both Google and Samsung engineers are working on this.
You might want to wait until they send a version of Oreo Android for Note 8 that has the problems fixed.

What was the problem? I got the OTA on the first day and it's running flawlessly on my Note 8.
What I understand is that if you don't have problems now then you are likely to have problems later. Variety of problems. From not being able fully update current or future Android updates, not able now or possibly later install and update random apps from Galaxy Apps store, apps randomly freezing, and lots more.
What I understand is that Google has knowledged to Samsung that these problems are caused by them. So Google is working with Samsung to fix these issues.
After I got the OTA update I didn't have problems. But since I had so many apps installed I did a factory data reset and cleared cache. After that I had random apps freezing and even had app icons randomly disappear and reappear (mainly Google and Samsung apps). Note - Never rooted this device and only used OTA updates to update Android itself on this device.
Samsung wanted me to send my Note 8 into their techs for them to flash Nugget Android into the device for right now (while they work to fix issues with Oreo). I said I needed the device. So T-Mobile did a Warranty exchange giving me a Note 8 that has Nugget Android. Both Samsung and T-Mobile told me the same thing.
Samsung is very tight lid with this. Which is the reason that many are confused. Yet I understand why Samsung is being more cautious (especially after the Note 7 issues).

Same result for me with SmartSwitch, nothing! Finally did it with Odin, enjoying it too. Right now I have no problems whatsoever.
Tmobile has paused the update, seems to be some rumblings about the rom causing issues. I was in the same boat and chose to go the odin route. For those of you who haven't done so yet and want to, check out BlueFox721's guide. Post #3 has the instructions for flashing, and in post one under "Flashing Carrier Firmware" you will find the link to the hosted rom. Extract this in a new folder in your odin directory and follow the steps. Ensure you factory data reset and wipe the cache before installing a new rom for best results!
So far I've loved the update and haven't had any issues. Keep in mind if you theme with substratum it's fairly annoying and requires adromeda and a pc to keep your themes running. Secondly, usb debugging pisses off safetynet now and will cause issues and disabling debugging kills your ability to mod your themes until you reconnect to a pc and run the andromeda client.
Hey guys, so like you all I was pressing the "check for updates" in settings everyday with no luck. I then looked it up one day and saw this....
https://www.phonearena.com/news/Tmobile-Samsung-Galaxy-Note-8-Android-Oreo-update-paused_id104334
https://www.tmonews.com/2018/04/t-mobile-paused-galaxy-note-8-android-8-0-oreo-update/
Tmobile stopped the oreo update for the time being. Unfortunately.
Well the only way i can see any of us updating to official Oreo is someone willing to download the OTA firmware zip from those crappy scam sites that want to control your download speed and upload it to here or Google Drive. i mean i would do it if i had the patience for it honesty xp
Will flashing via ODIN do a factory reset? I thought it didn't, but reading the notes on the guide thread appears to indicate that it might?
