Google work profile - Honor 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
this question is more general, but I am using Honor 7 so steps could be more specific.
Anyway does anybody know how to access "settings" application in work profile?
I can access most "work" apps just tapping their icon, but there is no icon for "settings", I can see "settings" app in list of installed apps, but how to access it?
Thanks.

It depends on the launcher

On my redmi 4, I have another launch icon for all work related apps, and there is also a separate launch icon for "settings". My local "settings" is similar to work profile "settings". The difference between theem is in the accounts that are being displayed in both of them.
Maybe using another launcher would help in your case. I haven't been able to find a good launcher which differentiates between different instances of one application, but my default "System launcher" is able to show different instances of apps. I couldn't find anything related to different instances in the list of installed applications also.

[Q] Shortcut to developer options

I can only make a shortcut to the generic options menu, or to some specific submenus like battery on display.
I would really love a shortcut to developer options.
PS: I am using Samsung Galaxy S with Dark Knight 3 ROM, which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1510940
anyone?
I use the app QuickShortcutMaker. You can open certain activities with it, such as settings options. There's the option to test the activity before you make the shortcut, so do that to make it easier. If you choose the wrong one just hit the back button.
I use this to open certain parts of apps and different settings screens. If you have a hard time finding the app (it's all one word), I'll post it from my Dropbox.

worked, thank you very much
How to have a direct shortcut to the running apps within the Android system? Before Android 7.0 it was so easy, and now it's buried inside the developer options menu and I cannot find a way to make a simple shortcut to it no matter no matter how many ways I try or how much I research about it.
if anyone knows of a solution or workaround for this, would be great, thanks a lot!

Same problem. Same question. No answer found... Anyone?

[Q] Resetting what "People" uses to find images?

On ICS, the People app - I was looking at a contact and wanted to change the picture. By mistake I set the wrong app to open when i change the picture. How do I undo that?
I tried finding the people app int he apps list and clear settings, but it still uses the wrong app?
Go into Settings, then Applications, then Manage Applications, and find whatever app you set to use as default (the one you chose by accident). Tap it, and then on the screen that appears find the button "Clear defaults". Tap it. Then this app should no longer be the default for that task.

Wow that's insane. So instead of removing the setting for the app that USES it, you remove the assassination for ALL apps that use it? Good design there Google.
But thanks for your help!

Setting alternate system app defaults...

How can this be done?
For example:
Changing the default Gallery app to another from the Play Store. Not just for a few instances but system wide, like wallpaper setting or contact image setting.
For reference, I'm using a debloated ROM that had Camera, Gallery, and some others. I've found replacements I like but would still like to have use of the lock screen shortcuts and other features, but using these new apps.

I may be a bit late here and its disappointing that nobody answered a simple question.
Isn't it in the menu for settings? Swipe over to Applications and look for Application Defaults. Also, some may be located under the Phone, messaging, and Contacts option in that same tab. If all else fails there's a "clear defaults" option. Do that and then as you open those apps, selects the one you want to use by default.
Some apps have a "set as default" option also.

[HOW TO] Access Native Android Battery Usage Monitor (including SOT)

As many of you have noticed, going to Settings > Power Manager brings up ZTE's own flavored battery usage monitor. However, one glaring omission from their monitor is the Screen On Time (SOT).
Luckily, the stock android battery usage monitor is still present on the device, and is just not listed in the menu.
To access it:
Easy Way: Install "Battery Usage Shortcut" from the Play Store. It's basically just a shortcut to "com.android.settings.fuelgauge.PowerUsageSummary"
More roundabout way (for those who want to explore more):
Download and install "Shortcut Master (Lite)" from the Play Store, or any similar shortcut-creating/accessing app.
Hit menu in the top-right corner and select "App Explorer". Hit Yes to the pop-up, and then hit anywhere on the screen or the back button to quickly get past the loading dialog. Go down to com.android.settings and scroll down and select PowerUsageSummary (more towards the bottom of the list). As you can tell by all the options scrolled past, there's a lot of settings and such. The majority of them link to the options available under the regular Settings app, some (like this battery usage monitor) are hidden from the menu but still functional, some have a GUI but probably don't have the underlying functionality (like WiFi Calling config), some don't work at all and either don't run or crash the Settings app. If you run something that causes your device to spaz out and crash, don't blame me!
Alternatively, select "Search" instead of "App Explorer", search for PowerUsageSummary, and select the one without the $ in the name.
Enjoy!
Jesus... Why, why couldn't ZTE leave this alone?

Thanks man. Idk why ZTE didn't just leave it the way it is. I am liking how under the skin, it's just clean android and how they aren't doing anything too crazy

For those with Nova Launcher, it seems to have something suitable with its Nova activities widget, which allows selection of a plethora of things including many system settings. I don't have an A7 yet but I had a look, if other shortcut apps can do it then Nova should be able to too, I used it on my current phone (LeTV Le 1S) to turn Clearvision on.

How to disable this slide out menu?

When I swipe either the right or left side of the screen I get this menu that pops up, it consists of a Google search bar, common apps, recent apps, settings shortcuts and an annoying ad. Is there a way to disable this? This is basically a brand new G5 with no custom launchers or anything like that.
Thanks-
Dan
I think that's a third party app. CanĀ“t remember the name. But you should be able to uninstall it.
I don't see anything unfamiliar in my list of apps?
I did download the LG Home 4.0 app and install it. Maybe its part of that?
It's not part of LG Home, it's definitely a third party app especially given its ads for other software. Perhaps it was synced with your other apps or installed unintentionally some other way.
App drawer may not show all apps. Try to check Play Store > Sidebar > My Apps and Games > Installed tab to see if it synced an older app perhaps. To find a more comprehensive app listing, go to Settings > Apps > Select "All Apps" from the drop-down menu. Review that list carefully. Alternatively, you may try downloading a dedicated app-management app (e.g. AppMgr III) off the Play Store.
I found it! It was installed as part of ES File Explorer, it's a "feature" called ES Swipe. Its annoying and now it's gone....
Its an app I think called swipe it gets installed with ads, u can uninstall it ..
