Difference between Note 4 SD 625 and Note 4X - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

So the Note 4 625 is cheaper on Aliexpress (global version with bands) than the 4X. Now I wonder if the SD 625 version has the display and camera of the X20 version...
What are the differences and can anyone confirm if they are the same or different?

I already write about these differences - you can find it on my post here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=71608109&postcount=7
Note 4 (MTK) has Samsung S5K3L8 camera sensor - Note 4X and Note 4 (SD625) have Sony IMX258 camera sensor

The global version will let you have 4G in some countries that wouldn't work in 4G cuz it lack of the neccesary band (the 4x version)
I think that's the main difference? other than that it is the same as the 4X and the Note 4 with Helios X20 is the oldest one but still kicking ass.
Edit: Summary!
Note 4 Helios x20 has some great performace but it is less efficient and the battery will drain faster than the other versions
Note 4x Was made for the Indian using a snapdragon 625 cuz xiaomi can not sell mediatek anymore in india i do not remember why; The snapdragon has a much newer architecture and is more efficient with the battery consumption so you will have more time of SOT (Screen on Time)
Note 4 Global Same as 4x but enables 4g connectivity in some countries that needed that band, the 4X runs in 3G or H +

Redmi note 3 different versions

Hi,
I wanna order my redmi note 3 but i don't know what phone is the right one. there are so many models...
i want to flash a pretty clean AOSP or CM rom on it that is stable so im required to buy the right model.
When i look around i usually see pro's, with 3GB ram and a octa core but i have seen some with hexa core both claiming to be snapdragons...
I want to use this phone in europe.
which one is the Kenzo model with snapdragon and alot of custom roms etc?
are there a lot of 'fake' xiaomi's on ebay?
Greetz
Rens
You get the snapdragon. It is a hexacore SD 650.
What LTE bands do you need? There is a Kate which has more than the Kenzo.

I think B20, will probably not get 4G unless in bigger city's but i don't care for 4G that much anyway.. 3G is fine by me.
Doesn't kate have less rom choice?
Which is better kate or kenzo? and how do i know which one am buying??
Kate is newer than Kenzo, so yeah it has less support and even some people don't know it exists!
Kenzo is the Redmi note 3 Pro. Has LTE band 3 (1800mhz) only.
Kate is the Redmi note 3 Pro special edition or international edition. Has LTE Band 3 and Band 20 (800mhz).
I ordered the Kate one although I know it has less support, but I need all international LTE bands!

Why Wi-Fi 802.11AC doesn't work on Redmi Note 4/4x (SD625) ?

Im fairly sure Snapdragon 625 supports it, so why it doesn't work?
Can this be enabled in custom ROM's?

I noticed this today as well. Really surprised. I'm connected to 5Ghz 802.11n no problem though. I wonder if it's possible to inject blobs from another SD625 device and unlock 802.11ac.
Edit: Did some quick research. The Asus Zenfone 3, Samsung Galaxy C7, Lenovo P2 and Oppo R9S all have the SD625 and have 802.11ac, but the Huawei Nova, Moto Z Play and Moto G5 Plus also have the SD625 but only 802.11n. Weird. Our Redmi Note 4X can definitely use dual band though, so the antenna is there.
Yup, probably cost cutting by Xiaomi. (like Qualcomm Quick Charge)
Is there an answer to the AC question? Can it be unlocked by software, or is AC disabled in hardware on the redmi note 4 snapdragon?

I would like to know the answer as well, especially for Redmi 4X.

note 4 and note 4x

Hey guys I saw to threads that have almost the same questions and answers that I am looking for but it's not being specific....
My question is if I was to buy right now Qualcomm 4gb 64gb note 4 will the 4x (mido) ROMs work on it?
Yes
Buy Redmi Note 4 Global (Snap 625) if you need B20 LTE Band. If you dont need it you can get 4x.
And yes, Snapdragon 625 SoC = Mido , Mediatek SoC = Nikel

What are the Model #'s for Snapdragon 625 [Note 4] & [Note 4x]?

Good day, everyone
TL;DR - WTK Model Numbers for Snapdragon 625 [Note 4] & [Note 4x]
So far;
2016100 = Redmi Note 4 4Gb/64G (credit: @sachin n)
2016101 = Redmi Note 4X 3Gb/32G (credit: @Delkapone)
2016102 =Redmi Note 4 3GB/32GB (credit: @krasCGQ)
I am about to finalise the purchase of a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 OR 4X.
I am trying to find ONLY the MODEL NUMBERS for;
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 - 4gb RAM, 64gb storage (Snapdragon 625 Variant; might be 2016100 or 2016102, need confirmed)
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X - 4gb RAM, 64gb storage (Snapdragon 625 Variant)
Some threads have said the SD 625's of both the 4 and 4x and identical, yet others go on to state physical differences in feature/hardware placements.
I just want to ensure that I get the Snapdragon 625 version, I do not want to end up wit a device that has the Mediatek CPU.
P.S.
Please don't turn the question into an argument for the Mediatek Variant and/or the 3GB models and your experience with them, I've already decided on the Snapdragon 624 4gb/64gb and I'm just trying to ensure I get the correct product.
I understand that the model numbers may vary slightly, possibly dependent on region and storage configuration.
I've looked for the questions/answers in the forum and others as well and can't seem to get a straight idea.
Thank you everyone, any relevant constructive help will be greatly appreciated.

BTW, thanks @krasCGQ bish ?
Double post, sorry :c
SD 625 is octa-core while Mediatak Helios X20 is deca-core. Some shop list it, I think it's a good indicator to buy the right version.
And I also read something about that the differnt SD 625 versions have difference only in supported network frequency.

Thank you for responding.
I do know the SD625 is an octa-core vs the deca-core of the Mediatek version.
I've already decided on the SD 625.
The problem I am having is that I was told in passing that the NOTE 4 SD625 (4GB/64GB) is identical to the NOTE 4X SD625 (4GB/64GB).
I am just trying to find a way or confirm if there are physical differences or not.
They are identical, the only difference is that the 4x doesn't have b20(800 MHz) band...But some shops
report It in the specification, I think it's an error...
I don't remember where i red this, but another difference is in the Quality of construction that in 4x is lower than 4 ( I don't know if it's true)
The Redmi Note4x is the global (or international) version. It has 4g lte radio bands that will work on either AT&T or T-Mobile in the U.S. The Redmi Note 4 will not work on any 4g lte band in the U.S. It will work on 3g band 1900 which is supported by AT&T and T-Moibile but you can forget about 4g lte in the U.S. with this version. The 4X was released about 10 months after the 4 version was and there are some hardware differences because of that (different brand sensors and camera's) but don't confuse the the different SOC options (MTK or Snap) with one version or the other. You can find both of those SOC options on either version. Even though there are some brand differences in the internal hardware the X of the 4X version is simply meant to signify that it is a global use phone with additional radio bands that the 4 version does not have. BTW, the IR blaster is not in the same position so if you are buying a case or other accessories, buy the case that is specifically for the 4 or the 4X version.
This comparison chart came directly from Xiaomi....
The Differences
Redmi Note 4
Bluetooth 4.1
Network Bands
4G FDD-LTE B3 / B5
4G TDD-LTE B40
3G WCDM 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100MHz
Redmi Note 4x
Bluetooth 4.2
Network Bands
4G FDD-LTE B1 / B3 / B5 / B7
4G TDD-LTE B38 / B39 / B40 / B41 ( 2555-2655MHz)
TD-SCDMA B34 / B39
3G WCDMA B1 / B2 / B5 / B8 (850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100MHz)
CDMA2000 / 1X BC0
2G GSM B2 / B3 / B5 / B8 (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900MHz)
The Note 4 is made in India and the Note 4x is made in China. The differences in bands on the chart above reflects the needed bands to work in China. Since they posted this chart they have also added lte bands that work in the U.S. (band 4 and whatever AT&T uses) but did not update the chart to reflect that. All newer Note 4X's are global 4G capable though.

Buying advice

I'm in need of a replacement for my current phone, since it just can't handle modern workloads anymore. Now I noticed this phone on AliExpress and I'm wondering if it's worth buying.
I don't need that much, mostly just being able to run WhatsApp, LinkedIn and a few light apps. Although maybe some multimedia would be nice. I like speed over beauty. And one feature I find pretty much essential is the ability to record my calls.
I notice a whole bunch of different Note 4's on Ali. Two different CPU's, both 8-core and one 10-core variant, 2/3/4G RAM and up to 64G storage capacity. Note 4 and Note 4X. Reading some of the other threads I should go for a SnapDragon, and one can never have enough RAM. But most of those threads are a bit older, maybe the development has opened up more and this changed?
My previous experience with a phone directly from China wasn't the greatest, with battery calibration errors and some apps that just wouldn't install. So I could use some advice here.
Can this phone do what I need it to do (with or without a custom ROM)? Can it be rooted? Which model should I get?
I appreciate any tips and answers you can give me.
Check the following points before buying:
- the 4 / 4X differences are 0, the only important difference is about the chipset
- get the version with Snapdragon chipset, MediaTek is crap
- check the 4G bands available if they're compatible with your country (mainly it's all about band 20)
- choose from the 3GB RAM / 32GB storage version or the 4GB / 64GB
Usually they call 4X the Snapdragon version and 4 the MediaTek one, but this difference is used mainly for identifying the ROMs. Because in reality there are 4X with MediaTek and 4 with Snapdragon. And on the phone box there is written always 4, never 4X.
Then unlock bootloader and install Xiaomi.eu ROM to get all the features you want. It's a lighter and optimized version of stock ROM.
Check if your carrier is using B4 or B20 LTE band. Redmi Note 4 Global support this bands (it's international version of the phone), Redmi Note 4x doesn't support them (it's Asia variant).
Always make sure you buy the variant with Snapdragon 625 chip (Mido).
So that would be a Global Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 with 4/64GiB based on a 8-core Snapdragon S625 CPU?
No surprises? I won't get apps that won't install because they don't recognize the phone? Or a boot loader that's too new to unlock, preventing me from installing a new ROM?
And there are ROMs out there that support call recording?
Looks like the main carriers in NL will support it.
Did I forget anything?
And for the current owners: know of a good flip case or at least something that will keep the scratches off?

Yes you will be fine, just confirm twice before buying that the phone has Snapdragon 625 chip and that it does support B20 band (800MHz), it will guarantee that it is Redmi Note 4 Global variant you absolutely need it since you are from Europe.
Call recording is available even on stock ROM.
