Hello Developers, sorry for bothering, I have a question about SIM card...
I am using LG G3 D855 model. In "stock Android 4.4.2 v10n" firmware, I am 1000% sure that I saved contacts to SIM card every time I add them, also viewable in stock Contacts app.
And I flashed Cloudy G3 Android 5.0 custom ROM earlier, they can be loaded properly in stock Contacts app, and viewable like in stock rom. Screenshot in below:
https://postimg.org/image/ka3xlafzj/
However, after I flashed "Fulmics ROM, Zoe ROM, Tekcafe ROM", which are stock based Android 6.0, also "Resurrection Remix, AICP ROM" which are non-stock based Android 7.1, my contacts in SIM can never be loaded... I tap "import" in upper-right corner, my google account option and import from storage option appeared, but I never have a .vcf file. Well I can use stock LG backup function to export them as .vcf file in untouched stock 4.4.2 or Cloudy G3 ROM, but that's not a solution definitely right? Screenshot below: (Tekcafe, Fulmics)
https://postimg.org/image/ys14ta7an/
Plus it has no option to allow me to save contacts to SIM card, in the ROMs mentioned above. I am suprised that even stock based 6,0 ROM doesn;t have the option of save to SIM, only "phone"...
I wonder why those AOSP based ROMs, and Fulmics, Zoe ROM cannot read/load my SIM card contacts? While it can't save to SIM, I think it means it cannot read my SIM.
(P.S. I always flash "RADIO_D855_21C_Step-han" modem before flashing any custom ROM. I even tried RADIO_D855_30B_Step-han modem before flashing Tekcafe and Fulmics ROM, it also cannot load my SIM contacts. I wonder is it a modem problem?)

This is due to Android doing away with that option as newer Sim cards are not set up to store data anymore. It started somewhere around 5.0 of I remember the code properly.

thanks for replying, but "newer Sim cards are not set up to store data anymore", my sim is not that new... it can be used to store data in Cloudy G3 ROM which is Android 5.0 ROM. Android 6.0 + AOSP ROM plus stock based are all not allowed to load SIM contacts... the main problem is that it cannot load my SIM contacts...

YOu have to understand that just because one distro has the option doesnt mean that all will. AOSP doesnt have the needed package anymore to do what you want as I said google removed this function. LG may have added back for now but it wont last. If I were you I would just start syncing with google or use a 3rd party app that has it built in for now.

Hello,
I have used the unofficial rom from Elelinux for a few months, but I have one question.
Would anybody tell me that how can I get the contact list from SIM card directly without import, just like official 2.1?
Thanks

try settings -> display options -> and check on the google account what contacts to see...but i recommend that you do a back-up and every time you flash a new rom, you just restore (that's what i do all the time)

Yes, I know. But I forgot everytime I flash a new rom, also, I cannot edit the list in SIM card. It's the only point I felt inconvenient after I flashed unofficial rom.
Hi guys,
hope you might be able to help.
I was fiddling around trying to access my work emails from home yesterday and G mail asked me to install android device manager so that my work could control security protocols on my phone in case it was lost. It asked me to encrypt my device which i did and left it plugged in for a few hours while it did it's stuff. On reboot it loads into the usual registration stuff after installing a new ROM, but the keyboard is not usable it will only use speech recognition input and then the installer stops working.
All i really want is to get my photos off of my phone the rest is backed up to my g mail contacts list etc. can anyone help me out of this mess i made?
I will guess you have Archi 2.4. And about the photos, are they on the external SD crd or on the phone ? if they are on the SD card, then you can simply format everything and install another ROM (let's say archi 2.4.1 updated in the morning )
First I would try to download the Archi 2.4.1 to my SD card and flash it. (select in Aroma to update it, as you already have ArchiDroid installed). Flash it without wiping, first. It should install the element that are missing from the keyboard (I would reccomend to select in Aroma both keyboards. If one does not work, you have the other one).
If that does not work, flash the ROM again, now select that you don't have the ROM installed. And it will flash it entirely. Repeat the part with the keyboards.
Third solution would be to flash a stock ROM via Odin.
Come here and report on what you have done.
Hello I have made a very detailed video showing how to get Stock Samsung Lollipop (5.0.1) and CyanogenMod 12.1 (5.1.1) on the same phone [n910w8] dual booting.
THIS IS DONE AT YOUR OWN DESCRETION and I am not responsible if something goes wrong or you do something wrong. I have repeated the process at least 10 times to see how it works. Even did it on a Samsung Galaxy S4 with no issues.
This video is demonstrating the installation process for the Galaxy Note 4 n910w8 (Canadian snapdragon version used in video)
PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME even watch the video a few times before you give it a try. In the end you can always flash stock Samsung Rom and do a factory reset.
I really enjoy using this feature and having the choice between two different roms on the same phone.
You can share apps from your stock Samsung Rom to your Cyanogenmod Rom without having to reinstall most of your apps. Saving lots of space.
I hope you enjoy.

Working on getting support brought to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 also. Awaiting conformation, working with the developer. No garinties but fingers crossed that another top device gets dual boot compatibility.
Does anyone have a link to this build????
cm-12-20150413-NIGHTLY-trltetmo.zip
i keep trying on cyanogenmod website but the link is down.
If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.
It would really help with Google cardboar/vr testing. Native sbs is reported working on the rom I am looking for and it would be worth a try.
Nice mate
So by using FolderMount I am able to save so far 3gb of space on my data folder. I transfer app data to external SD card. Link the app data on external SD card with FolderMount which tricks the app into thinking it is installed on internal data.
Then I created a backup in FolderMount. Switch roms load FolderMount. Restore backup for FolderMount. Restore link app data locations because cm and touchwiz see external SD card different and FolderMount corrects this thankfully.
Click the green linking tab a few times and FolderMount will recognize the data.
As I said I have saved 3gb of room on my internal data having app data on external SD card.
If something like this was built into our dualboot patcher it would make things easier. Maybe if we spoke to the developer of FolderMount. If not using both FolderMount and Dual boot patcher I now have 3 roms on my Note 4 and almost 4gb free space on internal data between all 3 roms. Look at the pics of before in my previous comment and this one to see.
Just finding ways of maybe booting 4 roms on one phone.
Will report back.
Think I am on to something, let me know what you think. Give it a try possibly. I will be making a youtube video to help better demonstrate.
Before and after of data saved
My current Tri Boot state on my Note 4
Currently running Touchwiz stock lollipop 5.0.1 (primary partition), cm12.1(secondary partition) and cm12(data partition) all on the same phone.
Hey,
Thanks for the video. I think I made a mistake. I opened the app sharing from the main rom and updated the ramdisk. Now in CM12 I am not able to tick the share applications option. Any suggestions?

Try reinstalling cm12 and sharing again once you boot up.

I am a bit confused. The way I understand:
1. Patch the CM12 ROM and gapps.
2. Flash the patched ROM and gapps.
3. Then in the secondary rom (CM12) share apps.
So I don't need to share apps from the main ROM. It means I have to install apps on the secondary rom which will be shared to the primary rom. Is this right?

Once you do those 3 steps all apps should share between both the primary and secondary Rom once you do a quick reboot after enabling the app sharing. Whenever you install a new app on one or the other Rom and then boot in to one of the roms you will usually see android upgrading or upgrading apps something like that during boot up. But yea you only need to enable app sharing in the second Rom not primary. Everything from the secondary Rom seems to share with the primary Rom. Overall it is a great system. Complicated in thought but it works. Once you get a feel for it you will be impressed.
Nice. I will try this when I get home. Been wanting to run CM but gear vr has me stuck on touch jizz. Will report how it works.

Yes it should work. The cm12.1 download link is specific for T-mobile but also works for other models such as the 910w8 (Canadian version)
As for Google apps, patch the file as you did with the cm12.1 Rom then install. If you do not patch it first it will install on your primary rom. Anything you want flashed specifically for a specific rom/location you must patch to match. For example if you install cm12.1 on secondary partition Google apps must be patched for secondary partition also or whatever partition you are using. Currently I have been installing my roms on data partition.

I see, I want the cm12 as my secondary rom so I patch it first then install it then I patch the gapps then install them then I can reboot to secondary rom and set everything up right?

I always patch my Rom and Google apps before flashing the Rom in recovery. I also flash/install my secondary Rom and then patched Google apps one after the other and then just boot into my secondary Rom, enable app sharing between my two roms, reboot and good to go.
I have had no problems installing patched Rom and apps in recovery and then booting in to the newly installed Rom. I personally like to make sure all my Google apps show up on first boot of the Rom. Saves me the hassle of errors in way. Sometimes flashing secondary Rom, then rebooting out of secondary Rom has caused me an issue that is why I install Rom and Google apps one right after the other.

Yes patch then install. No need to reinstall Google apps all that will still be there.
Hello, community! I was wondering if there's any Android 6 rom for LG Optimus L7 II (P712). I was told that CyanogenMod supports through CM13 a lot of LG devices but P712. But I decided to give it a shot anyway and I will share my experience with you.
I took the risk yesterday and I installed CM13 on my cel phone. The installation process was perfect (I used ClockworkMod Recovery), I also installed Gapps perfectly. I rebooted my device and it loaded and updated all the apps (it took like 10 minutes). After that, I had to setup my wifi network, google account, etc. Everything was good so far, but then, when the menues loaded my camera and radio fm weren't shown. The rest of the apps were right there and it recognized my wifi and mobile service provider like a charm (I called and texted myself from another phone). But... after a couple of minutes a pop-up started to show up saying "Unfortunately, Android keyboard (AOSP) has stopped" and since there, it was a nightmare haha. I couldn't access to my keyboard at all. I understand it's an issue with CyanogenMod and they are trying to fix it.
But after that situation, I decided to flash my device using "Flash Tools 2014" and Android 4.4. If any of you know about another rom with android 6, please let me know. Thanks in advance!
What gapps was used, and which cm13 build?Seems P712 is all like my P713,and on mine i got no lags(excepting camera app, just needs to install another camera and delete stock one).

Hi DS_katauri, thanks for your reply. About gapps, I tried to install different packages (mini, full, nano, stock), I downloaded them from opengapps. But it seems many people are reporting issues like the one I had. Btw, the rom I used was the "cm-13.0-20160330-UNOFFICIAL-vee7-RC2" (I'm a new user so I can't attach links... I downloaded it from androidfilehost, the user who uploaded it has useful things there). Thanks again, for your reply!!

Yep,Neutrondev made a lot of pretty things for our LG.
About ROM,try this one(latest build from Weritos) ,use version for 713 and gapps provided.IDK will CWM work,if no use Neutrondev's TWRP 3.020.Also,gapps should be installed after ROM but before 1st start.Lags are - built-in camera(use snap hdr and delete stock camera and gallery via root),wifi(sometimes connects only manual),no function on qmemo button(not critical at all)...And a specific feature - no internal card only SDcard I'm using it now(actually writing from it).Only three apps make me angry, katemobile(russian vk.com social network alternative client) - can stuck phone(idk why),viber v5x or v6x(both can FC in unknown reason,v4x all okay),and Opera4android(chinese idiots forget the "clean cache" button).
Oh,and launcher,Nova still remains the best.
Good luck and don't forget to backup your current ROM to SD.
Hi DS_katauri, thanks for your reply and all the info you shared with me. Unfortunately, it didn't work on my smartphone. Yesterday, I installed the rom and gapps by Weritos but the camera didn't work at all, it kept asking me for my sd-card (even after I formatted it). For the same reason, I couldn't download photos, take screenshots or anything. And I couldn't install whatsapp because it wasn't compatible with my device anymore, so I had to give up. Thanks anyway for all your help!!

I told U to try snap camera, then play with settings to allow writing on sd(this stuff makes me mad too)Also, opencamera and first version of CyanogenCamera should work too. And,whatsapp, install it not from market.
Will look on new release of Weritos CM13 soon, probably it will help
I am looking to install the latest stable Lineage OS or Resurrection Remix on my rooted LG G3 D850 running Kitkat.
1) Can I still use and install apps from the play store ?
2) There are a few pre-installed apps from the LG OS that I like, mainly Visual Voicemail and Weather.
Can I somehow use these ?
3) I do not have a SIM card of cellular service on this phone yet. It is my spare and I can't afford another plam
When an OS update is available, do I need to go through the complete install process and loose all my data ?
Thanks in advance

1.) If you install the latest TWRP and flash RR Lineage OS, you can still install apps and games thru the Play Store, all you are doing is installing an updated/modified version of Android, it's no different, except the fact that it's a custom firmware. It's still Android based.
2.) I believe you can still use the Visual Voicemail if you sideload the stock apk. I've had luck sideloading stock apps and not having a problem with using them. Now I'll have to see if the weather app works on 8.1 or 9.0. I'll keep you posted.
3.) When a stock firmware update is available, you won't lose your data. It doesn't factory reset your device, all it does is flash an update to your current system or updating your firmware via OTA updates. Usually when you sign into your Google, your data automatically backs up. All you have to do is sign back into your Google account and restore your data. It will run in the background and re-install those apps.
Hope this helped.
Ty
This is interesting and very helpful.
I forgot to mention, the stock apps I am interested in, Visual Voicemail and Weather, were built-in to the stock OS that came with the phone. At some point I had called AT&T support for something and they told me that the built-in Visual Voicemail is not available on the play store. I did try the version on the play store and it is different and will not work with my pre-paid plan.
If this is the case, can I somehow extract the apk and install it on RR or Lineage?
Thanks

When I updated Visual Voicemail (from Play Store) today on my PAC-MAN ROM it was automatically disabled and had to be turned back on its setting. Sounds silly to ask but you did turn it on? Anyway, I didn't know that it probably doesn't work with prepaid accounts. Bah!
Pulling apks from a stock KitKat ROM and expecting them to work on ROMs that are several Android versions removed would be wishful thinking. In the past there have been mods of some stock apps to run on AOSP/CM. Some still work like the LG QuickRemote. In general the stock LG apps (probably) relied on libraries and whatnot that are not available in custom ROMs.
If you consider pulling and side loading something it should at least come from a later stock, Marshmallow. Some custom stock ROMs were also debloated. Removing weather for instance. In a couple of cases the devs would make the removed items available for download for those who wanted them back. Nimax and Clean ROM are a couple that come to mind. Still, I wouldn't count on anything working outside of stock.
If one wants/needs what stock had to offer then one should stay on stock. Sadly, the G3 only made it up to Marshmallow.
BTW, are you aware this thread is in the wrong subforum? [emoji54] [emoji850]
EDIT: Here you'll find Nimax_Apps_G5 zip. In it are the LG apps removed from the Nimax ROM for the G3. The weather app is in there. Its original location was in /system/app/LGWeather/LGWeather.apk. I figure, after extracting zip, you could do a quick test by trying to install it normally and see if it succeeds or not.

I was able to backup/restore Visual Voicemail using Titanium Backup. Not sure if it works, although it runs. I forgot Visual Voicemail only works through cellular data and I do not have a SIM or service yet.
As far as weather, I did the same backup/restore using Titanium Backup and weather just crashes. But I found other weather apps so that is not a problem.
I will check out the Nimax apps you mentioned and see what happens. THANKS
