Hello XDA,
I have an iphone 4s of which the battery swelled. cut the circuit of the cell, threw out the battery, and confirmed that the phone works. Now, I have several extra batteries, and wanted to wire one to the phone. I would wire them to the original battery connector, and it should just click into the factory place and work.
This phone is a test/experiment/I-couldn't-care-less-for-it phone, so the battery would be taped to the back. (my OP3 is my daily driver)
The iPhone has 4 pins, and the only 4 pin battery I have is an aftermarket Galaxy S4 battery.
(2100 mAh F5 3.7v)
My question is this, is there any reason that it will not work, if I connect the 4 pins pin to pin?
According to my knowledge, both the iPhone and Samsung battery are 3.7v, and the the mAh is just the capacity. The thermistor and data pins should detect battery charge and discharge, and the motherboard would adjust to the battery. My logic with this mod is that if the double sized batteries that fit and work on your phone from ebay work, why can't I strap a bigger(bigger in mAh + physical size, but same output-3.7v) battery to the back.
I've done this before on a clone
HTML:
http://imgur.com/a/ls5Ul
and the battery held for a week with WiFi and Bluetooth on!
I've been googling a lot, and could not find a lot of information as to why this would not work. I've found one worrying link saying that the bigger the mAh of the battery, the larger the Ohm resistance. Is this true? Would a bigger mAh battery fry the phone? I thought mAh was just the capacity in amper hours, not the discharge rate(3.7v?!).
Any info will help a lot, thanks!
-iPhone 4s 16GB
edit:
Would I be able to use a 3 pin battery thus leaving one pin empty?
If I was to use a 3 pin battery, to which pins would I connect them?

A 4 pins battery has 2 power pin, 1 metter pin, 1 data pin. Data pin is some kind battery ID. Most phone dont work if you using another manufacture battery (wrong ID). You better take out battery cell and solder to origin battery board. It work for me (I'm not try with ip yet).

I thought of this too, but could it be that the battery swelled because of a bad battery board?
Would anyone know which is the positive and negative side on the circuit?(not the battery) There is a small "1" and "2" next to each terminal, but I don't know which is what.

Does anyone know of a portable/emergency charger that would be suitable for use with a TC?
I've seen a few available but none of them seem to be specifically for HTC devices...
Here's a few to give you an idea of what I'm thinking of:

Nice find!
Yeah, wasn't aware that there was an official device on the way. Thanks
Frustratingly, no dimensions are specified (only the weight). Has anyone found this info anywhere?

Judging by the picture (and using the mini usb port as refernce) I'd say its about the same size as the TC.
Not really as small as I'd like, but definately pretty portable
I picked up one of these at Hong Kong airport. I had tried it briefly but thought it didn't work (that was nearly a year ago with a different phone). I tried it this morning with the TC and it works great. I had 2x2600mA NiMH batteries, and my phone was at about 80% charge. The batteries are at indeterminant charge (charged several weeks ago, so partially discharged). I plugged the first one in and took the charge to around 90%. The second battery got it up to 100 % while using the GPS and still has charge. So it looks like it would give me enough power to make calls with one battery and if I take 4 along, I am thinking it could use GPS all day from a flat phone (with some battery swapping). The phone still gained charge while using the GPS.
I imaging that all of the ones that use AA would be similar, so the one above should do the trick. The problem with the one I have is the battery can be pushed slightly and lose the connection (which is presumably why I thought it didn't work initially).
Edit Did a better test. A single 2600 mA AA battery gives about 25% charge.

I'm using the Philips rechargeable battery. It's not too big, not too heavy, it fits in my pockets and can give you up to 30 hrs of additional autonomy.
I use it frequently when riding my motorbike while using the Polaris gps. Up to 10 hours without problem, and I could still partly recharge my phone after.
Otherwhise, it can give up to two full charges, maybe 2 and a half.
Here are the specs (in french sorry).

Model is SCE4420. It's boxed with many plugs to charge other items.

Fits perfectly without changing the back plate. Made for the i9100 International Galaxy S II and fits our AT&T Version
Fair boost from a 1650.
Will see if it makes much of a real world difference and post back.
--------UPDATE---------
Using the battery I find about the same drain as the stock battery but the kicker is when I plug in the USB cable my phone goes into a boot loops. Sending the batteries back!

Fair boost IF it actually meets its rated capacity. Most cheapo aftermarket batteries don't even come close.
My Infuse 3500 mAh battery is probably closer to around 2500 based on initial testing.

What (eventually) happens to NFC if you don't use an "NFC battery?"

I figure if NFC is not even activated on this phone yet, might as well get the most juice for your phone. We'll reach that hill when we get there. By then they will have one with NFC.

Might short out the NFC controller or damage it in some other way...

My guess would be that the NFC battery has special shielding to keep from interfering with the NFC signal... but who knows?
Or maybe it just handles fast drain better...

Did you read the thread about battery compatibilities? If the battery doesn't have NFC, it will loop when you plug in to recharge. Recharging with a stand alone charger and then using it in the galaxy is fine.
Never saw that thread but I need to frequently plug in my usb.
I got the batteries too. They're great if you travel, or forget to charge your phone often. They do boot-loop. Nothing you can do to stop that.
Can someone tell me if I can charge the stock Samsung battery with this charger?
If so, I can cycle through all 3 batteries by charging it without the USB cable.
It would suck if I have to charge 1 with USB and some with charger... yikes..
Hi eveyone,
I bought this battery from ebay. Got it charged it and put it in my phone.
Now there is an exclamation mark over the battery icon and my phone wont turn the screen off automatically.
What could be causing this?

Anker are good batteries, but have very cheap plastic dividing the 4 contacts for the battery.. when one plastic tab broke off and covered one of the contacts, it showed that icon in the screenshot. My assumption was that it kept the phone from reading battery info.. likely you got a battery that is cheap and doesn't have the ability to give the system info.
Return the battery, or maybe toss it.. and buy yourself the ankers that have been posted about over and over all over these forums. You can get 2 1900mah ankers with external charger for $29.99 shipped- then you'd have a spare.
Have you tried a reboot? If that doesn't fix it then let the battery drain completely and recharge while inside the phone.

Hi all,
My father's Note 3 Pro stopped working yesterday. He left it while charging and in the morning the smartphone was dead.
It shortening the chargers/PC Usb ports- (found pic on google)

If I try to charge it the wire gets hot really fast, tried all different chargers/wires(only got high quality chargers/wires).
The charging port is clean.
I have taken off the back cover and all seemed OK- it never got wet!
If I disconnect the battery- still shortening
If i disconnect MB flat wire - not shortening.
SO the MB is fried?
If I can't fix it I will send it back to china to use the warranty.
Thanks in ahead!.
there's a high chance that it fried your motherboard. the cable gets hot because the positive potential of the cable meets the negative one, together they generate heat.
Yes, that what I thought. Now I am waiting to the store in china to reply me How/where to send this device, hope they gonna fix/replace it.
So no I can see how smartphones cause fire and burn damage, it's crazy that all good for almost 6 month and suddenly it can get hot and cause fire.

I was facing same issue.
I went to service center. They changed my charging port of device. Now everything is fine.
I recently replaced the BLP745 in my 7T Pro with a battery from AliExpress:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002600978294.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.10.73251802ieDtdn
So far it's been good, I did the first charge to 100% last night. The phone was unplugged this morning at 100% and after two hours, battery is down to 97%. A lot better than my original battery which would have dropped from 100% to about 85% in about two hours.
It's premature to say if this battery will be any good, so I figured I'd ask if anyone else has had good luck with the battey they bought for their 7T pro?

Old Battery:
I have bought a replacement battery for my 7T Pro from rounded.com, which seems to be genuine, but arrived in an overdischarged state. The voltage of the cell was so low that the BMS disabled output. When I awakened the battery by supplying a very small current to it, I measured the cell at 2.2 V. At this point, the battery might have taken some damage which may cause higher self-discharge and lower capacity and in the worst case it might even be unsafe as LiPo-batteries that were overdischarged at some point can develop internal short circuits when cycled.
Before replacing my current battery (which still has 84 % health), I wanted to make sure the replacement battery ist still good, so I charged it using a LiPo charger. It reported the capacity to be at 91 % percent of the design capacity, so it's at least better than the old battery, and I suspect the measurement to be on the low side.
Now I have discharged the battery to 3.8 V and will be watching how the voltage decreases over the next month to see if it has an increased self-discharge rate.
I suspect that all genuine replacement batteries you can buy right now suffer from this since OnePlus stopped battery production in 2019 or 2020 as far as I know, and if they haven't been charged since, they will have self-overdischarged by now. It's possible though that OnePlus keeps the batteries they use for replacement charged.
Edit: I just saw that your replacement battery was manufactured in 2022. But I think it's a bit sus. It would surprise me if they were still manufacturing new batteries for such an old device. Also the label on the replacement battery differs quite a bit from the original one. I saw on Aliexpress that AccuBattery has reported your battery to have a capacity of 98 %, has this value changed since then?
