dif chipsets on5 is exynos3475 cortex a7, 8 gb, no fingerprint, to name a few differences that j5 prime shows as a cortex a53 on exynos 7570 with 16 gb and fingerprint also not sure j5 has a mali T720 mp1 or another variant of the gpu. Some of the sites with specs post that this is same as the 2016 galaxy on5. But that device ended up being released as the j5 prime.

Well according to cpuZ mine On5 does have a cortexA53 chipset with Qualcomm Ardeno 308 GPU.
And it does have a fingerprint sensor
And its 16GB and it has 2 GB of RAM.
How about that?

if hardware is the same possible, look at the porting threads to know which folders/files to swap. And same android version. Plus debloated. Plus make sure the partitions are the same size. Just back up everytging first with twrp.

Which rom u r going to flsh ??
Can i get the link

# Did you ever try the flash? Possible to very slightly modified some syztem settings I would imagine. Ofcoure I wouldn't even think about it about trying it because I'm still a little new with Customization.

[Q] Different Processors ? Different ROMS ? Developer Support ?

Hi,
The news is out that most probably, Samsung Galaxy S IV coming with two SoC variants, Snapdragon 600 and Exynos 5.
My question is that suppose at some places Snapdragon 600 ( i.e for LTE ) is launched and at some Exynos 5 Octa, does it divide the developer community as then they have to build 2 ROMs for their Custom ROMs ?
Will the same ROM run on both variants or is it otherwise ? How tricky it is to run the same build on both ?
Thanks
Shubham
They will need to be built for each chip. They are not cross compatible. As for the developers. Many have already stated they will not get any Samsung device with the exynos chip. So you will see more go for the qualcom device.

A 2015 Series to Get Nougat Update

2016 series would be obvious, but 2015- from 4.4.4 to 7.1 possibly!
http://www.gsmarena.com/original_sa...id_70_nougat_update_in_january-news-22319.php
EDIT: The source carrier that "accidentally leaked" the update seems to have made a mistake on their data inputs. No nougat update for 2015 series.
Hypothetically, the A7 (2015) can get Nougat since it runs on Snapdragon 615 processor which is the same processor used by the Hong Kong/ China model of A7 (2016). Maybe developers can port it...
What?! OMG! That would be awesome. Although, I can't get my mind around it, A5 didn't get fresh Marshmallow either, with the new white-UI. How would it get Samsung Experience UI?
Cool, anyways I'm waiting for Sammobile to confirm it.
wow, i love samsung
i highly doubt, that samsung would choose to support exactly this phone to create a long-term solution for updates
We should be more then happy with marshmallow, although it looks like they've done a **** job with it though.
What about A3 2015 can't get update
Sent from my SM-A300FU using XDA Labs
I hope it's true
Someone must have made a mistake there...
It's more interesting why they thought the 2015 series would get Nougat, they didn't even specify it.
I think Sammy ended releasing updates (hopefully we still can get some security patches, though).

Yeah someone misunderstood something. Some sites said it would come to the 2015 series, some of them said just for 2016 and newer. Logical, though. But we don't get mad, do we? We have amazing ROMs to try!
Yep, I edited the OP.

According to this, there will be a Nougat update for the A8. But it doesn't mention if its the 2016 version or the 2015 version, can somebody confirm?

If Samsung doesn't forget about the 2015 version, probably it will get it, too. According to gsmarena, the original A8 was released in August, 2015 and launched with 5.1.1, so the one with newer UI.
I would say the 2016 version is sure to get it and the 2015 is also, likely to get it. However, Samsung cares about how much device can be sold in countries and continents. So if it wasn't a successful phone - like A5 - it's not sure. Check confirmation sites later, like Sammobile, Gottabemobile and other certification sites, like bluetooth and WiFi. Keep your fingers crossed!:highfive:
In my final sadness, I rooted my phone and installed a custom ROM...
As we said - according to the sources - Nougat won't reach our beloved A5s.
WHAT NOW? Optus confirmed it AGAIN that the first gen A5 will get Nougat update in this month!
Source: http://www.gsmarena.com/nougat_upda...xpected_to_roll_out_this_month-news-23109.php
Checked it now! Optus removed it AGAIN from the list! https://yescrowd.optus.com.au/t5/Blog/Android-Software-Updates-31-01-2017/ba-p/196166 ARE THEY TROLLING? :crying::silly:

Every phone comes with 2 version support generally, especially when its Samsung / HTC etc. So 4.4 will only reach 6.0 and that would be EOL.
Peace,

It's three then. My advice: buy a phone which is launched with a fresh Android (like S8 with 7.0) so it's sure you can enjoy the fresh Android-feeling through two years in three major versions.

Galaxy j3 2016 android 6.0 cormfirmed!!!!

Android 6.0 for j3 2016 sn-j320fn has been cormfirmed!!!!
You kidding me. Now when we have 2 Custom ROMs(LOS, RR)
Samsung now remember J3 users.
Arghhhh
Also 320F marhmallow rom port close to final!
But confirmed commimg can mean many weeks, or?
Samsung has too many 320 modell types i think. Even some very same as F and FN differnet Rom... i cant understand doing such minimal diff phones!

Maybe Samsung lies again.
It's not first time...
Nevermind we have LineageOS 13 and if djeman(we) fix HW Composer djeman continue porting LineageOS 14.1 :victory:
Sometimes people who work there doesn't have knowledge and with all the different versions there it is not very clear which phone is mean't. I look at the latest firmware at sammobile weekly. And until now there is not a single version for F or FN with marshmallow. Since this is a low budget phone there priority lies on the expensive phones.
Hope never dies.
But I how there will be at some point official Lineage versions which are updated frequently.
Xaxaxaxa Samsung and OS upgrades.... :laught:

Hey [email protected] there is mentioned J3 (2016). But there are so many different version: some run stock marshmallow some lollipop.
I don't know if update means one version higher( MM-> N, L-> MM) oder just every version to MM.
To many different phones named J3 (2016)...

MM runs only US Verizon version of J3 6 with Exynos soc
Our version on European territory running Lollipop and it has SpeadTrum soc.
That's difference than J3 6 with MM and J3 6 with LL
Maybe Samsung push MM update but that's maximum from Samsung and we don't know when we get it or did we get it...
Only Samsung S models get latest major OS updates but only 2 on eg. S6 won't get Android O.
MM TW ROM is great but nothing better than AOSP Android :victory:
J3 6 is low budget phone so Samsung doesn't carry about them, important are S models because they cost 3X more that J3 6.
For now latest patch for J3 is 1 may 2017. we can wait for Samsung and he's TW MM ROM for J3 6, but I think that we get Nougat ROM for J3 6 before than Samsung Upgrade
J3 prime is only $50 and runs Nougat. Buy it off amazon if your to lazy to wait for Nougat on a J3

Where you got ROM for Samsung Galaxy j3 (2016) sn-j320F ??
Hi, I contacted Samsung several times that confirmed me the update to android 6. Yet my research on the internet seem to contradict that. So what is it really like?

Are there any roms for exynos 4412 ?

I have a "knock-off" phone with exynos 4412 cpu/chipset, only 1G ram, running android 4.22. I want to upgrade it to 5.1 or above. Is it possible?
Thanks

Samsung who can get Oreo

Only one J5 can get Oreo:J5 2017
J5 prime has 7570 the SOC supports Marshmallow and Nougat (J3 2017 too can't get O)
And J5 2016 has Snapdragon 410

MSM8916 is pretty much dead now on official support
Its predecessor MSM8226 ended with MM so i think its the same with the 8916....
But hey you have MIUI9, LOS15"Broken", TW-NN and many more ROMS to enjoy
Also J5 2017 is an Exynos 7870 phone :b(Its a J5 series phone only)

And? J5 2016 has much lower lifespan than the 2015 model and also Samsung has never EVER fixed bugs or wrote any code in their sources by themselves(Samsung hasnt even created Touchwiz :b). They are taking Nougat patches from Qualcomm and if Exynos from partners and if Qualcomm kills oreo support for MSM8994/8996 then they wont really get their time porting it for J5 2016/2015

If support is stopped we can port Lineage (J5 2015 has already LineageOS 15)
MSM-8916 development is stronger than ever, you clearly don't know what you're talking about. And LOS 15 is not ported is built from source like 14.1. For J5 (2015) we have great devs.

Support is stopped officially
Oreo can be ported for J5 2016 but is not that easy to fix the bugs because you don't have the right libs to use, not all the libs from N are compatible with O and there are so many missing. An example could be the RIL bug (sim bug), you need to replace the new main RIL lib but you can't find it in any other N rom... If you try to replace it or any other RIL file you will get a bootloop...
I like your question.
I think all Samsung brands should be accepted it.
