I'm tempted, but my guess is that I'll just end up disappointed that HTC capitulated to Big Red and locked up the boot loader. Other than the far superior design and build quality, neither of which matter to me as much as performance does, I'm thinking there's not much of an advantage to switching over

I'm just curious....How do you guys switch phones? Do you guys sell the S4 for close to retail price (600-700) and then buy a different phone at retail price? I am just curious as to how hard it is to switch phones without losing a bunch of money.
I will be staying on my S4 most likely...even just stock I think the phone works great, but I thought I would ask how you guys do it.

Interesting...well if a really good phone comes out (better than S4) and it will be able to keep an unlocked bootloader maybe I will consider that...as long as the S4 is still worth a good amount of cash...

Nope! My household is finally HTC free since switching out the 4th replacement Rezound for a Motorola Razr M for my wife. The lack of support for HTC phones is mind numbing.
Currently not being productive on my S3.

I hate how it takes away from the screen real estate. Pretty much turn a 4.7 into a 4.3...

Or you could have a 4.7 inch screen that becomes a 5 inch screen when the buttons hide in certain apps.
Perspective man. And now that we are starting to slim down on those bottom bezels (moto x) on screen buttons will become more and more attractive.

I'm not a fan of on screen buttons either. I see them as wasted space. I actually used GMD Gesture Control on my GNex and set custom gestures from the right and left sides of the screen. You could also root and flash a ROM with Pie Controls.
I'm not sure if AOKP still has it, but the nav bar widgets and customizations would probably be the only reason I'd have a nav bar.

I'd like to have the HTC One for its FM Radio. But to take the place of the S4. Nope! The S4 battery is tiny (for LTE at least). The One has a 2300mAh battery. Not enough for a full day. Plus non removable.
The only phone I would (and am buying) with a non removable battery is the Motorola Droid Maxx (new one) 3500mAh for non removable is great. 2300 in the One is horrible. Plus don't get me started on the 4MP camera. Might be great for low light. But resolution and clarity. Nope.

So I went to AT&T today and messed around with the g2 and found myself returning my moto x I just bought on the 11th for it... I love this phone... great battery life so far.. really like the button placement. ..and great camera and screen size...

I have the Verizon version and I LOVE this phone. 6 hours, battery is at 95%! Amazing customizability. Already rooted. Sweet sweet phone. :victory:
I'm tired of Samsung phones and their bad reception. I have more bars with this phone.
This is the best phone I've used all year, way better than my S4 and Note 2, and I tried the MAXX for a few days and didn't really care for it. Go LG!

Amazing phone
I went through several phones before I got this. I had the Moto X, HTC One, Galaxy S4, and the G Pro. This blows everything away!
I had the s4 One i5 note 2 and nexus which I'm currently using and I messed with the moto x I'm so glad that everyone thinks this is the best I get mine in Tuesday and this just rekindles my excitement lol

I've had all the same too and definitely happy with the switch to the g2... got my root and got rid of the bloat.. figured out how to turn off fast dormancy cause it destroys my battery life on any phone when I'm home... good to go now lol

Absolutely love this phone. I've had all the flagships and this is fantastic. My only gripe is the battery isn't very good on mine. Falls fast even when sleeping. Coming from an N4 I'm used to bad battery, but I was hoping for results like the rest of you. Oh well.

I have to say I owned the s4 the HTC one the Moto x and just yesterday traded the X for the LG G2 I love this phone Screen is fantastic Battery life is incredibly as far as UI it's like touch wiz but no lag. Also we have achieved ROOT I'm on verison. All in all this phone is superior to all devises out. Just my opinions. Android Rules!!!!#####

Then settings then scroll towards the bottom fast dormancy... you can enable and disable from there... I don't have the best reception at my house so that really helps me

You're kidding, right? The camera is better than the S4 and one of the best out there right now. Aside from the numerous reviews confirming photo quality, I have done my own comparisons with the GS4 and Lumia 1020 and it's right on par. If you're getting bad photos, you're doing something wrong.

I had the Note 2, then went to the S4 then tried the Note 3, but it is just massive. I have big hands and is still very awkward to hold. I ride a bicycle so I like something on my hip, holster wise. So this LG is peppy, is all around fun and good. I have no complaints.

Nice. I got the note 3 today and like it a lot but at the end of the day its the same experience as the Note 2 eith a better display and faster. I read a lag thread for the G2 and it has me worried cause I really wanna try that phone. Does your G2 lag?

When the first time I see the G2's screen and watch demo clips on it, I was impressed... "Oh my God, never see a beautiful cell's screen before. I love it, I must have it".
When the first time I turned on Note 3 screen, I even thought that there is crap on this phone (sorry). Screen looks dirty, and colors are so... far more than enough. Red is too red, blue is too blue, green is too green... and it makes the screen like a mess.
If u care more about the display, you must see this G2. But if u want something big, more performance, document applications, stylus, u can keep your Note 3.
My G2 is not lag in anytime (I think Note 3 is stronger), but Iam not sure that Note 3 battery can last long like G2. With G2, I never need to care about the battery even I spend half day in a Internet Cafe.

Lag? God no, this thing is blazing. I was worried about the OS and leaving touchwiz but I actually like the LG interface and with Nova Launcher, I can't be happier. I rooted the phone within the first hour and the mods available make it even better.

This is built into Android. Long hold on notification, App info, and then untick show notifications. However, there may be side effects such as disabled toast messages as well
Hey fellow members I currently have a note 3 on Verizon... U know spec wise the note is more powerful but my girlfriend recently got a one max and I'm liking what I see.... Anybody here coming from a note 3.. Can tell me.... How's battery life... How's the experience will I miss the slightly newer processor.. Is the radio reception on par or better?... How's Ron development?... I just need feedback so I'll know I'm making a good decision... Thanks guys
I had a Note 3 too and I don't really miss it at all. The battery life is about the same. I have yet to find anything that I can't do on the One Max that I could do on the Note 3. (Subtracting all the S-Pen stuff, of course.) In my personal opinion, radio reception is at the very least on par with. ROM development is growing and you don't have to worry about KNOX blowing out any chance of a warranty. All in all, I'd recommend the move.

I've got my note 3 since two month now and it's really a great device. But every day I think about switching to the max.
Before the note 3 I got the very first note and now I think it would be nice to have something different.
This spen stuff is not bad but to be honest I don't really need that. Sometimes it's quite useful but I think I can live without that.
I hope that the community will grow in the next weeks.

Same here man had note 2 and the galaxy s3 before this kinda burnt out on Samsung it's a wonderful device but I do wanna try something different with the max.. And from what I've seen the max is an impressive device

I think i can tolerate it I don't take many pics with my phone and I did a brief comparison with my note cam and my girlfriend's max cam and the note was better in the day time (not mind blowing though) but at night and in dim areas the shots looked more natural with the max... So i think I could deal with the camera downgrade..
