i tried to boot my phone back to stock as it needed to be sent back to tmobile (still does) and ran the back to stock stuff which did not bring up any issues. I tried booting it afterwards and it only went to recovery. noticed when i went to the format section that it showed no storage space (0 of 0 for system) i formatted it as ext 3 (showed proper storage) and 4 (when trying to instal some form of a rom) and nothing. i have tried every rom i could think of. any ideas? i would really like to send this back functional.

Device: Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, P6200.
ROM: CM9.
Started with the device rebooting every time I tried to do nandroid backup when it got to backing up /data. I attempted to factory reset but then CWM (6.0.1.0) just hanged at formatting /data.
Then I attempted to do factory reset from the ROM (CM9). The device got stuck in a bootloop of trying to format /data and just hanging there. The device kept turning itself back on when turned off to go into this ridiculous loop.
Is my on-board sdcard fried or something? Anything I can do?
UPDATE: Fixed it, I hope. . . Ran f2sck from recovery on mmcblk0p10, needed three rounds before all the errors were gone. Then could successfully do factory reset and reinstall ROM. Restoring from backups now, hopefully nothing borks again,
try to get back to the stock rom via odin it will overwrite the data partition and of course the recovery image so ure back to 0 than and are able to continue what u wanted to do
Hi all
Dad's I9300 (international) started making problems booting up a week ago (sometimes it did and sometimes it didn't for a few hours). Begged him to bring it in for me to backup. Of course he didn't and today the device refused to boot permanently. It simply gets stuck on the logo screen.
When boot into recovery I got lots of E: failed to mount /cache. After wiping the cache and rebooting into recovery I now get only E: failed to mount /system (see attached image).
Download mode also seems to be working.
Device is 4.1.2 with stock ROM and stock recovery.
The main concern here is to recover all personal data. After that, I don't care if the device gets bricked. I searched the web and came up with two possible solutions:
1) Reflashing the same stock ROM I flashed a while ago (hoping that what I have stored on my PC is what is actually flashed on the device.....), and not wiping the data. As I understand, flashing a stock ROM without wiping data shouldn't cause the device not to boot.
2) Flash PhilZ Touch 6 Recovery using Odin and use Aroma file browsing to copy internal memory files (pics, mp3, WhatsApp data, etc.) to an external SD and then start messing around with the phone. (as described here)
What's my best option here? It sounds to me that the second one is better, but I'm not familiar with flashing a recovery and possible consequences.
Can someone kindly advise? I'll greatly appreciate any word of wisdom...
Solved.
Ok so I messed it up and I need some help on this ASAP, Please.
So I was running the Latest MIUIPro 8.3.8 on my Redmi Note 4 (mido). Then for some stupidreasons, I decided to switch to the oldest ROM my phone came with, MIUI 8.1.10.0. (I have a habit of switching between ROMs every other day). So I put the zip file on my storage and went to flash it. Though I had flashed that same firmware few more times in the past and nothing as such had happened but this time I think I ran out of luck. After it flashed, it seems it replaced my recovery which was latest TWRP and rebooted abruptly (After the flash was over). On the first attempt, it was stuck on MI logo, then I manually rebooted it. This time it shows me "Encryption Unsuccessful". For some reason, it was encrypting the phone and no, I had no encryption on my phone. Just a simple pattern lock.
I do not want to lose my data, so I didnt pressed the 'Erase' button. Since I was now on the stock recovery, I flashed TWRP again. I thought I could extract my data from recovery but TWRP is also asking for encryption password. (Which I didnt had 'cause I never set it). I skipped it and went into the recovery but now TWRP could not mount any partitions. It shows all the partition as 0 MB in size. Even my Internal Storage (/data) partition. (Which I'm trying to save and dont wanna lose at any cost.)
However, after little research I found a default password for TWRP as "default_password" (Without quotes). After I enter it, it shows as storage mounted to "/dev/block/dm-0" But still I cannot find my files in the Internal storage. Even MTP shows no files. I can't mount /dev/block/dm-0 to /data as it says resource busy.
Can someone please help me?? I dont want to lose my data, is there any way to preserve it and decrypt it? Any help will save my life and the million dollar data on my phone.
Can't help yourself
see i am new here and i dont have much of the knowledge to solve your problem but i have face this 0mb internal storage but truth is we can do nothin you have to hit up the nearest service centre and tell them truth that how you ****ed this **** up in first place and tell them to get you back to your stock rom and they will eventually get your phone back runnin but the simple truth is that you now no where gonna get your data back :good:
Change your recovery to orangefox and then flash e stock android rom.now backup your all data then erase device and flash miui pro
Hi,
My current problems are: my internal storage is completely deleted somehow and when I try to start the device it's bootlooping.
What happened before that was:
1. I was in MIUI 10 globe rom and had the regular TWRP (before treble thing I think)
2. I installed orangefox recovery so I could install a treble RR rom.
3. I backed up my MIUI rom and installed the RR rom without problems
4. Then I wanted to go back to MIUI rom
5. First I installed normal TWRP img into my recovery, because I couldn't recover the MIUI rom in orangefox (couldn't find the file)
6. Then I tried to recover the MIUI rom, but I didn't factory reset before i recovered. I thought that would happen anyway if i recovered a rom. But my recovery file didn't include bootloader and firmware. I had 2 recovery files in my internal storage. One of everything except the bootloader and firmware and the other recovery file was of the bootloader and firmware (i forgot to include them the first time i backed up)
7. So anyway, I recovered the first file and everytrhing was fine, but then immediately i also recovered the second file (the bootloader and firmware only). But the second file failed to recover.
8. I tried to boot the device, but it bootlooped at the MI globe image, then went back to MI logo, then mi globe image, etc. And finally it goes back to TWRP automatically.
9. Went back to recovery to see what's wrong. First I did a normal factory reset (only system, cache and dalvik, no internal storage) so I could install the RR rom I still had in my storage
10. Suddenly I see NOTHING in my internal storage in TWRP. Shows 0 gb.
So can anyone tell me what went wrong??? I never touched the 'format internal storage/data' thing in TWRP, but somehow it deleted it??? Wth happened?
And more importantly, what do I do now? Do I treat this as a bootloop or a bricked device? I know I have to use ADB and stuff to reset the device, right? Or Do I have to do something else?
Anyway, thanks in advance!
Edit: wait, i formatted /data now in TWRP and it booted into MIUI 10 after but with internal storage gone now of course. But I'd still like to know what went wrong.
So, I managded to completely mess up my phone, it WAS working on a pie GSI, then it wasnt, decided not to boot, nothing... so, wiped everything, tried re-flashing the GSI, still nothing, so... i though, ok, fine, ive got the dload folder on my sdcard, i used it 2 weeks ago...
Tried dload, got message 'install failed, incompatible version, please download a compatible version'
so, i rebooted into fastboot, flashed the stock kernel, ramdisk and recovery, and tried again, still no success, so reflashed TWRP, tried flashing a pie GSI i know worked, nothing, just a black screen on boot, so i've now flashed back to havokOS oreo (which boots) but i cant do anything else, im stuck, i really need to reset my phone to its factory OS and start from a clean slate...
Anyone have any ideas on what to do?
--- edit ---
internal storage is reporting back as 3gb.... so either partitions are messed up, or my flash chip is dying
have you trie the official factory firmware . Theres instructions in it too on how to flash it
https://androidhost.ru/6er
Your sdcard or USB-OTG flashdrive MUST be EXFAT formatted.
Test you have a working sdcard or USB-OTG with windows app 'h2testw'.
I sorted it out, wiped sdcard, copied dload files out of the zip back onto it, and it worked, somehow the files on the sdcard must have become corrupt
