f2fs - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

what version of twrp is the best for f2fs?
i use the m4 but it crashes when formating f2fs partitions in f2fs, amongst other things.

This is working good.

Use twrp 3.1 by strix, and if wiping gives you error check rm-rf in seetings,(you have to use some other recovery to format to f2fs , I used zcx after that flash twrp 3.1) ,hit thanks if this helped

Problem with encryption

Hey Guys!
Got my F1 Bootloader unlocked today and flashed then crDroid.
But when I reboot I get that encryption unsuccesful message. (So I cant get in the ROM)
I installed everything exactly in this order:
1. Vendor and Firmware
2. ROM
3. Kernel
4. Gapps
5. DFE (Zip for disabling encryption)
after that I rebooted
Here is a picture of the message I get when I boot:

Yeah uhm well I had /data still as F2FS formatted. So /data & /cache need to be formatted as ext4.
Strange that LineageOS and crDroid dont support F2FS

can you please elaborate on that?
never mind, i fixed it.
in my case i was trying to flash LineageMicroG 16 on my Device and i kept getting that error and i did the following to fix it;
wiped everything and wrote "yes" to format the date and swiped for a factory reset through recovery wipe option then i booted into recovery and flashed LineagemicroG 16 after that i flashed optimus drunk kernel and booted into system and everything seemed to work fine, the kernel is what fixed the problem.

F2FS /system not working

To try to use F2FS on /system I did these steps
1. Installed F2FS compatible kernel
2. Took TWRP backup of /system
3. Formatted /system as F2FS
4. Enabled use rm -rf instead of formatting in recovery
5. Restored /system backup to the newly formatted F2FS /system
6. Edited /cust/etc/fstab.qcom to mount /system as F2FS
7. Rebooted but phone shuts down during mounting/kernel boot probably due to ramfs trying to mount as ext4 instead of F2FS
ROM is Pixel Experience and kernel is KudKernel.
I don't know how to obtain boot logs on this device since it doesn't have a UART and it crashes too early for ADB to be usable. Being able to obtain logs would be really helpful for this
I'm on AOSP extended Pie (latest) with Englezos kernel.
My cache is f2fs.
I had data as f2fs as well but kept encountering problems, most significantly, Magisk would not function normally.
On my next clean flash I'll just go stock file systems since from what I've read and experienced, the difference in performance is negligible to minimal.
not recommended use f2fs on mido. which is unstable

Question Is it possible to change the file system to ext4 with MIUI 12.5.5?

Hey,
basically the title. I have rooted my Redmi Note 10 as i am doing some analysis using autopsy. Surprisingly, i was unable to analyse the userdata partition as autopsy does not support f2fs. I was not expecting a f2fs data partition as the system partition is also formatted as ext4. Without switching to a custom ROM, is it possible to force MIUI 12.5.5 to use ext4 by re-formatting and re-flashing the device?
in my humble opinion you shouldn't mess with partitions
Well, that does not solve my problem^^ I tried to change the partition using TWRP. However, whenever i flash the MIUI ROM, the process formats the userdata partition back to f2fs. Even TWRP will reformat the userdata partition to f2fs when i format the data. Where is defined to which format TWRP formats the partitions? Has anyone an idea on how to solve this issue?
