I have an old phone laying around and I want to repurpose it.
First thought was a media server, because it has an SD card slot and WiFi connectivity. But it's relatively slow (1ghz and 512mb ram). Would this work and with which software / ROM could i achieve this?
Then i thought i could use it like an arduino but unfortunately we don't have output pins on there.
What would you use your old phone to?
PS: I thought about security cam but nah i dont need that
1GHz 512Mb ram could be enough for a Plex server. What phone do you have?
I use a Galaxy Tab2 as a "HTPC", it can stream 1080p up to 16Mbps and the wifi is the bottleneck: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-2/general/galaxy-tab2-htpc-linux-plex-media-t3596167
Or you can use it to monitor your PC's health status:
- build your own touch screen front panel:
- put the phone next to your keyboard

I previously (a few years ago) had a Sony Xperia RAY (1GHz, 512mb RAM) as my primary phone. I had a 64GB SD Card & Viper 4 Android running a custrom KitKat ROM, so it served as the media player in my car. I also ran navigation software on it, even at the same time. and it was also my phone. It did struggle if I tried switching to another app while navigation was running. I also used it to watch movies (with subtitles on a <4" screen) on my way to work.
I have also used it with a Bluetooth dongle to connect to my ODBII interface of my car, and use it as a real-time monitor of my car.

Might of of some use to a clever bod.

Not mine, honest.. reckon with his feedback you'd have to collect it though
Looks really fake:
Can't really get excited about MIDs (Mobile Internet Devices)? Same here, but that doesn't mean this leak of Dell's Streak isn't very intriguing and not just because the handheld looks pretty good. What you see below is based on Intel's new Pine Trail platform and boasts an Atom processor, a 5-inch (800x480) touchscreen, a 5 megapixel camera with dual LED flash, WiFi, 3G, and Bluetooth connectivity, and a microSD card slot.
Dell's Streak MID is equipped with a 1,300mAh battery and is loaded with the Android 2.0 OS.
It has memory card of 16 GB .
Yeah im guessing its just someone whos got it wrong, its not exactly unknown on eBay. There is no reason Dell would have developed the streak with x86 because the software and hardware would have nothing to do with the final version!

1. Never heard of tineye.. it's now my new favourite toy. Fantastic.
2. I will message the seller on $bay and inform him that he is nothing other than a donut puncher.
Cheers..
Hey guys,
So I always used to stream my audio from my SGS2 to my laptop, and I kind of miss it now that I've moved onto ICS. I recently tried moving back to a GB rom to see if it was infact the phone causing the issues , and that seems to be the case.
When I pair my laptop to my SGS2 with GB installed, it installs all of the bluetooth drivers necessary for streaming.
However, when I pair with an ICS ROM, it installs nothing. I can still do file transfers, but no audio connection whatsoever.
Could this be a problem with the bluetooth stack or ICS drivers?
Has anyone got media streaming from ICS -> Windows 7 working?
I have included some pictures to indicate the difference.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Bumpity bump bump bump
Has anyone else run into this problem, or am I the only one that likes streaming audio from android to windows 7?
That maybe because ics does not come with bluetooth rsap (remote sim access profile). I guess streaming audio also comes under it

Same Here!!
I'm having a similar problem with my G2X. I can't stream bluetooth music nor can I transfer files. I'm looking for some drivers for this cause I normally download music to my laptop then transfer stuff to my phone. I have Hellfire Sandwich 1.6 and running Windows 7 on my PC.
Hello,
I have Lenovo Yoga 2 13 model 20344 wih I5-4200U and 8GB RAM, integrated intel gpu, and upgraded to m.2 ssd. Windows 10 are flying without any issues. Tested even Ubuntu, works great.
Remix OS 3 is installed via official installer to NTFS partition on M.2 SSD with 32 GB .img for data.
ToucScreen works, wifi works, hotkeys are working also.

Yet there are few issues:
1. Screen rotation is not working, it simply does not rotate. Is there known app which could rotate it by clicking a button? Tried few, none of them worked. (Same issue on Ubuntu but I can rotate screen with scripts). This is a minor issue.
2. Main problem is sound stuttering while playing YouTube videos on 720p or higher, it plays ok on 480p.
Laptop has enough juice to play it, but on Remix OS it simply does not do that. Is there some fix/tweak available?
Ditto
I too would be curious. I have the same laptop except I have the Intel I7-4500U in mine. Stock install. 32gb partition as well. I do not seem to have the audio stuttering issue. I do however have the screen rotation problem. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Hi guys!
Thanks for having me.
I'm looking for an APP or method that will power on my Rooted S8 when power is applied to the charge port.
Can anyone help or suggest?
I am using my S8 as a data interface to the computer in my car and want the phone to AUTOMATICALLY turn on & off when the car does.
I have successfully rooted my S8 via TWRP and loaded Magisk, am running Noughat/9.0
Any suggestions or help very much appreciated.
**NOTE: S8 doesn't run a boot loader I believe so that hack wont work on my phone **

Hi....Universal Android Root is another application accessible for Android gadgets that allows you to root your gadget without a PC. In contrast to Methods 1 and 2, the application isn't unreasonably well known and it probably won't work with some Android gadgets. That being said, if Methods 1 and 2 didn't work with your Android gadget, maybe this one will.
As the application is old, it should work with more seasoned Android gadgets and firmware forms. Like Framaroot, this application likewise includes an underlying alternative for unrooting your gadget. The application can establish upheld Android gadgets in five to seven seconds.

Box seems "HS 9 PRO", not sold anywhere ... I was able to flash another firmware (In fact, 5-6 firmware "works" for those looking H6_4_32_20191114, X10puls, Tanix H6, Qplus H6) *BUT*
1) Wifi XR819 doesn't work (can live with that)
2) Remote doesn't work which is a pain for ON/OFF (mainly "ON" lol)
Supposed to be, Quad Core A53, Mali450 or Mali720 GPU... I used PhoenixProUSB to flash the images, as said, quite a few worked (I've been trying for 2 days zillions of IMG)
I would gladly put back the original firmware but I have no clue where to get it... Anybody know this box? Underneath, nothing relevant "STB model: HS_PVR_Pro_Dec_2020"
Here's the box (works with X10Plus firmware) and remote (that doesn't work). I can use a USB keyboard but can't turn ON the box.

Also, found out the remote is controlled by a chip "MT908" if I could do something with this, would still be happy (mainly for ON/OFF button lol) but I think it's just the chip and not related to the config of it :|. Anyway, any help is welcomed otherwise it's a bit useless my "4k pro" box
Looks like i'm out of luck :|
any idea on what the remote could be? I could at least use another firmware to enable the remote. Also, possible to install the wifi card in any way? I'm rooted but stock Android 9.0
