Imei gone null!! Please help!! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I own a moto x style (XT1572) (DUAL SIM) and have a problem regarding my IMEI number gone null
I did wait for a long time to receive nougat 7.0 update on my device but since I could'nt resist i went for flashing my device
after i unlocked my bootloader i flashed super su zip which unfortunately was a BETA version and hence my device got caught up in a boot loop.
To avoid wasting my time i searched for a restock tool and immediately flashed it.
It was 5.1.1 stock but for XT1575 *post the flash thing* my sim was not detected (both the sim cards).
i went on searching for the problem and found out that both IMEI and BASEBAND version was null and unknown respectively.
Till now i have downloaded lots of recovery patches and boot images including all other stuff but no positive result.
never ever this happened while flashing a device until with this one.
i hope you guys will help me ?

why don't you download the right one for XT1572?!
downloading and flashing wrong firmware cause issues like you are having now, try downloading the right firmware and flash it with that stock tool you used before.

I did but could not get a stock tool for XT1572
Will I get my IMEI number back after flashing the correct firmware?
When the phone is switched on it shows XT1575 on PC where as it shows XT1572 on PC in recovery mode

Stuck On BOOTLOOP (read details)

it was previously on 4.1.2.
I flashed Omni 2.4 on s3.
It was not showing signals of network (In Pakistan)
went to sammobiles.com for new firmware.
it is international version so i took for south africa (as phone came from south africa) flashed that rom and it is stucked on BOOTLOOP.
i want to go on official 4.3/4.4.
tries searching on google but failed
if someone can help to make it run back
prefered 4.4 or 4.3 with network signals in Pakistan.
Forums says goto recovery . Volup+Home+Power is not working for me
i just can enter into download mode
Regards
Get a stock .tar.md5 package from www.sammobile.com and flash it using Odin. Then boot into recovery, restore to factory defaults, and clear cache then reboot. Everything should be working properly. If you lost network flash the latest NA8 modem file.

Do you have a modem (baseband) compatible with your region?
If yes, is your phone unlocked (to be used with any carrier)?
Think about this last question carefully. Unlocking through software (like the galaxy sim unlock app) can be lost when flashing latest firmwares because of the efs format change. That might be why you get not registered on network.
If your phone was unlocked through imei (with a code provided by the carrier) or if it was factory unlocked (never locked in the first place) then I don't know whats wrong with it, sorry.

IMEI & Baseband Unknown (Null)

Hello,
My redmi note 3 (SD) got bad flash, somehow I had recovered it but now I am facing some major issues which are not solving.
1 - IMEI Unknown
2 - Baseband Unknown
tried these threads, but no change, still same issue.
http://en.miui.com/thread-260943-1-1.html
http://en.miui.com/thread-271552-1-1.html
Due to the above issues unable to use cellular network, if any sim inserted it show No Sim Card/ No Service
Screenshots attached below
Please help me, it'll be very much apreciable.
Does sim work in another phone?
Are the APN settings for the sim correct?

Tried this but no change, still same situation.
I had the same problem and it turned out that I have kate version of note 3 pro, not kenzo.
You can check the version by measuring its height (152mm - kate; 150mm - kenzo) or weight (I don't remeber the numbers).
After flashing kate's firmware everything went back to normal.

Even I had the same problem when I was on miui 6.12.29, what I did is I extracted firmware and META-INF from the ROM zip and deleted emmc_appsboot.mbn from the firmware to avoid bootloader relocking issue and flashed with twrp. Now everything's working. You will restore your baseband as well as imei also most probably.
Try the steps written here: http://en.miui.com/thread-335643-1-1.html
I had the problem with LTE network described in the thread, but maybe it will help you also because you'll flash another QCN to the phone.
Good luck!
Just extract NON-HALOS.BIN from firmware update folder in miui rom zip. And flash it using fastboot by command
fastboot flash modem non-halos.bin
This no IMEI is due to problem that u can't downgrade firmware version once on new firmware and some miui even custom cm rom have old baseband in them.
Regards
PS use only latest rom zip from miui. I have uploaded the file and link is in last 4-5 pages of rr 5.7.4 thread or use search in that thread as non-halos

LG G5 complete debrand from Three UK model question

I'm really sorry if the means of doing this has been posted but I have looked and I cannot find it. I would assume that I am not the only person who would want to do this, so if someone can either point me in the way of a definitive guide or tell me it simply isn't possible then I'm grateful for your help.
Here's what I know:
I can easily flash my Three UK (H3G) LG G5 to the open EU version of Nougat via Uppercut/LGUP
I can easily flash it to the EE version of Nougat for the UK
I can easily flash it back to the H3G version of Marshmallow
In the first two cases I get an error on boot which is related to the cust folder being set to H3G specifically. The only way to get the device to boot without these errors is to flash back to the Three firmware. There is no nougat firmware from Three for the G5 yet because they are utterly rubbish.
My question is, *is there a way to flash the open EU ROM, wipe or convert the cust folder by unlocking the BL and rooting, un-root, flash the normal recovery back on and re-lock the boot loader and basically convert my G5 into an Open EU model with OTA updates and no evidence that I have ever tampered with the device at all?*
Or do I have to accept that in buying a Three branded device it will always be hobbled in some way?
I've always found it incredibly easy to flash Samsung devices with ODIN so this level of PITA-ery is all new to me!
Thanks in advance everyone, and sorry once again if a guide for this has been posted, but I genuinely cannot find a guide specifically detailing the solution to my request.
On a side note, if I flash the Open EU KDZ (confession, I have), will I still get OTA up dates - for example, to 20C - once they arrive, or does the cust folder error on boot signal some borkery that will disable OTA updates from working?
Thanks again everyone
Also apologies but this should probably be in Q&A. Genuine user error!
Just find a European Nougat kdz flash it thro lgup and hey presto ....nougat on the G5 I've been running v20x ever since it was available.
I already did that, but I get an error everytime I reboot because even though I've flashed the KDZ for the open EU ROM the cust folder is still set to Three UK I believe. Was your device network branded?

May be you have to flash boot logo. I have never checked flashing boot logo like I did with Nexus phones.
Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
There is no Three splash screen on my device - it is just running the stock splash screen now. The only issue I have is that I get the errors on boot relating to the CUST folder.

Yes i'm on stock recover.
Let me tell u exactly what happened i restored a backup that was here for my phone and i checked that the backup is for my region, when i restored it asked me for the puk code i entered it but it didn't want to accept, then i checked again the version from about the phone it was correct and it informed me from the updater that there is an update i downloaded but it told me installation failed i then tried to factory reset from both the phone and the recover it did but also everything was the same, so i tried to flash TWRP denied even tried the dload method installation failed also, at the i discovered that the bootloader is locked so i had the lock key and it told me incorect then i discovered that when connecting with ADB it gives a serial number different than mine although when i check through the phone the serial number is my old one. MSMDownloadTool Custom ROM

Hello,
I was installing different custom ROMS for this phone, then reverted back to Stock ROM. It updated itself, and IMEI got erased somehow.
Is there any way possible to flash a custom ROM, or even custom recovery using MSMDownloadTool? I had a global version N10, so it was sim unlocked and bootloader unlockable, and I do actually have my IMEI on the back of my box, but can't put it into my phone as I have to root it. But I can't root it because the bootloader is now locked, and the bootloader is now locked because there is no IMEI......
This leaves me locked out of fastboot, so the only option is edl, which works just fine. However, only MSMDownloadTool is compatible with this mode, and it only installs Stock ROMs.
I tried extracting the .OPS files, replacing the stock recovery with twrp (and then renaming it to recovery.img), repacking the .ops then installing it. It installs, but then never boots and is just stuck in edl mode until I reflash the normal stock rom with the stock recovery.
What Do I do?
Thanks

If your bootloader was relocked, encryption and partition checking were enabled again.
TWRP would only cause your phone to register as modified and lock itself...and due to streamlining of a lot of functions, you can't even use the dialer to enter the menu needed.
Best you can do is totally wipe everything on your phone and generate a new android ID. (You have to do this from the actual OS instead of recovery though. Recovery format uses predetermined instructions. The format option from the android settings panel has a different set of instructions and one of them is to generate a new android ID, which includes IMEI)
Thanks for the reply, although im kinda confused by your answer. How do I generate a new android ID? (what does that even mean lol). I checked in my settings and I can't find any "format option"

Android ID is what determines your phone is the phone it claims to be when pinging google services.
Move any files you want to keep to somewhere safe. Format your phone, android will push you a new id number. It won't fix your IMEI, but it'll keep your phone from being absolutely useless in the process.
After your phone is formated and has booted back into the OS, you can enable adb. Adb into fastboot, use fastboot to determine if your device is still bootloader unlocked using the fastboot oem device-info command

I tried everything you said, reset everything, still no IMEI, and even if the Android ID is different it hasn't really changed anything. Just to be clear, when I flashed the stock ROM earlier, everything worked as intended apart from the SIM card (which doesnt work at all) and the WiFi (which keeps dropping after 5 seconds of connection). Those problems persist even now.
Guess I'll be messing around with the SMT mode in MSMDownloadTool since I've already lost my IMEI, see what I can do from that. If there's anything I do actually end up finding out, I'll post it on xda.
Update
I installed an update by download a zip, installed update via settings. System rebooted to complete update, and somehow the oem unlock option opened!!
From this point, fixing it will be pretty straight forward I think
Thanks for your help

Nice! If everything is working properly besides the IMEI at this point, there's a couple of PC applications you can use.
I'd recommend write dual imei, not gonna post a link since IMEI fudging is against the rules (even if you're just trying to repair your IMEI)
Use the IMEI that's on your device sticker or on your phone packaging specifically.
Either way, hoping you get your phone back up to 100%.
As it turns out, it's not easy at all. My WiFi has exactly the same issue... keeps dropping, No SIM card, no baseband version. What's crazy is that I have rooted, and even repaired the IMEI via a tool. If I read the IMEI via the tool (and different ones just to be sure), they will all show the IMEI the same as the one that I wrote (which were the original ones).
But for some reason the phone still doesnt recognize it. I reboot it. Same story. The tool recognizes, the phone doesn't. I know for a fact that the issue cannot be hardware, at least for WiFi. If it was, it wouldn't connect to any network, but it does, and then disconnects after a few seconds. I think I have been all over every post on the internet regarding this issue, but still no luck.
Honestly, check with OnePlus if you're under the 1 year warranty window. This sounds like an issue that can really only be fixed with a replacement device.

Hi I have a similar problem.. My phone oneplus 8t is stuck in 'SMT Download failed error' mode. I was tryimg out custom roms which has caused this. My phone says can only be fixed via SMT Download mode. Can you help me out using the SMT download mode? I have tried MSM Tool normally to unbrick my phone but it doesn't work.
hello @nightfury04
If you have a Oneplus 8T you have to download the appropriate MSMDownloadTool (specifically for it) and make sure the version is correct too. Is your phone global/ locked to a carrier?
