Alcatel Ideal: Switching Kingroot to SuperSU? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I have a question. I have an Alcatel Ideal (Runs 5.1.1 LP) rooted with Kingroot. However, some of the apps that I have installed on it, for example, Device Control by Alexander Martinz, recommend I change to SuperSU so that it can control the phone better. How do I go about doing this conversion?

You can Easily Do so by using an app called SuperSume pro which you can find on play store easily. Unfortunately it is paid.
However google it, for sure u'll find it for free somewhere.

The very easy but long way I personally use is to 1st rooting the device using kingroot. Then flashing custom recovery (I suggest TWRP) using any flash tool. Then completely unrooting from kingroot (no root backup).
But then you'll already have a custom recovery working in your device. From there flash supersu.zip for your device and you are done. Now if you want you can reflash the stock recovery.
I recommend you creating a backup of stock recovery before flashing a custom one.

ANZ goMoney Warning

Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this app (Australian Banking app) or any like it.
Basically I installed a custom 4.4.2 rom (SlimKat) and I rooted the device and use SuperSU, when I load the app it gives me a warning about my phone being modified, I tried to remove the root with SuperSU (I used to use Voodookeeper OTA when I was on stock 4.2.2 and below) but this made no difference (regardless of trying temp or the full unroot option) and I still had the message.
So does anyone know if I can actually fool the app into thinking my device isn't modified? Or is it the fact I have a custom rom and is there no way to hide that fact?? Has anyone had any experience with a similar app?
Thanks.

That worked perfectly thankyou very much.
I would have much preferred something by Chainfire or the Voodoo OTA app, seeing as they are so heavily used it would have been nice for my peace of mind, but beggers can't be choosers and the solution still gets me what I wanted, so thanks again.
No problems, glad to have helped

[Q] Custom ROM for Gigaset QV830

Hello guys,
Has anyone of you started any work or done any research on this cheap, but good tablet?
I'm willing to create a custom ROM for it, but I'm quite new in ROM making area, although I have experience with Linux, software development, etc.
So first of all I would need to root QV830 somehow, then copy current ROM, as there are none available to download, and then play long time with, say, Android 5.1 version and get it working on QV830, if possible.
This thread could be like knowledge base for this device or something.
Where would you recommend to start looking for rooting solution? I could try to create my own rooting app/procedure since I couldn't find anything for QV830 on this matter.
Thank you!
Hi,
I just bought a second-hand QV830 and I am in the same situation as you, wishing to get a custom ROM at hand.
So I thought about making a custom ROM but this is obviously a huge amount of work, especially if you have no experience in that.
From what I understand, one to compile a kernel with the right config. CM seems to have kernel for every device. I don't know if it's just different config or patched ones. Then integration of CM/android.
As for rooting, I simply used framaroot and choose Boromir, I think. Done ! I didn't even fear to brick it as I guess it just works or not. Am I wrong ?
To get a backup of current ROM, you just need to install a custom recovery like CWM with may be RomManager (?) (You don't even need root)

Thank you, zebul666 I managed to get the tablet rooted with Framaroot and Boromir setting, just as you said, but I'm still struggling to backup the current ROM. ROM Manager reboots into boot menu, but there are no backup options, only reboot device and reset ones.
Flashify app backs up current kernel and current stock (both weights 6.0 MB).
Also tried to copy /system folder with ES File Explorer with root permissions, but it always stops copying on run-as file.
Will keep trying, but if/when I will succeed, I have no clue what I'll be doing next
I understood that if you flash CWM with ROM Manager, this new recovery should enable you to make the nandroid backup. Has it failed for you or you did not do it ? I have not.
Now that you have root, you can already directly tweak the setup without custom ROM. For example, i have removed that annoying loud sound when it boots by renaming /system/media/bootaudio.mp3
If you wan to go the custom ROM way, there is tutoriel in this forum on how to compile a kernel and customizer rom

have you or anyone else installed Xsposed framework on these little qv830?
New to this. Any way to get 5.0.2 on this gigaset

I'm also interested in getting a more recent version of android installed.
Has anyone found anything out about installing a custom recovery yet? I think if that could be established then rom development may begin.

Yes, I have had xposed on this device and it works well but you have to be cautious as to what you do because if you happen to mess it up, the fact that we haven't figured out how to put CWM on you can't flash the xposed recovery zip. So min short yes but be careful.

To install stang5litre's rom you don't have to downgrade anything or install a custom recovery. All you have to do is install the app called FlashFire. google how to do it or on xda

Kingroot dosent want you to root your phone uninstall kingroot, and use supersu
They are wanting to keep their
Super in control. They maynot
Allow you to use their app to reinstall. Not sure how they know but they will not allow me to use their apps.. they fail
To root on all three apps. . Ps they asked me to email them my error logs on the desk top version and they told me they cant root my phone for now . They will email me when it works...??????...

Advice

Hello,
I'm kinda new to the rooting scene and looking for some advice. I had recently rooted my phone using this method
- CF-Auto-Root-zerolte-zeroltexx
This method installed SU which at the time I didnt know wasnt the better of choice compared to the likes of Magisk. I am just wondering what I can do to get Magisk installed.
Any advice welcome.

Flash twrp first. Search google/xda and you will find the instructions.
After you have twrp recovery installed you just flash the magisk zip through twrp and that's all.
Thanks for coming back to me but yeah some google-fu and a little more understand on how it all works and I solved it myself. Been an interesting few weeks learning about ROMs, Firmware and rooting.

Working root method for the SM-G850A AT&T device

EDIT
I've changed the title to be something informative now, rather than a question.
Ok, so I finally got it working using KingRoot from here (it's probably the official version, but I'm not sure). Since it's an online-based root, you need an active internet connection and that's all you need. Device will reboot twice during the process, in my case, on first reboot, I've re-opened the app and the progress continued. KingRoot conveniently handles the root authorizations itself, but you might want to install your favorite superuser app later on...
Tested on KitKat 4.4.4 version (see attachments)
That's pretty much it. Hope it helps

I tried some of the rooting methods I found in the wild (including the NewKingroot + SuperSU Me) related to the samsung galaxy alpha sm-g850a, but with no luck at all. I know that this is an old device, but I still wanted to have root access for testing purpose.
OneClickRoot claims to have support for the KitKat 4.4.4 version, but I haven't tried it because of a membership requirement.
I hope someone create a new rooting method for this device

Thank you for your reply. I also tried that, the one for SM-G850F (sltexx), but it failed. Also, there's no support for SM-G850A in chainfire's web page. Do you know other working root methods for this specific device?
