Redmi Note3 Pro Kenzo WLANMAC Lost - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

In the process of using dualbootpatcher, my main system with the miui8 development version, the third party with the system 7.x rom, such as Lineage OS, etc., I will switch between the two systems will lose WLANMAC address, resulting in WLAN can not open, But the data is normal. Clear the sub-system and re-brush the main system rom can be retrieved, but once this method is invalid. Is this where is the problem? How can i solve?
I am not good in English, with Google translation, come here to post, if any mistakes please pay!

Hello esteemed developer add please support dualboot Patcher on the tablet Xiaomi Mi Pad 1 code name Mocha, when you add or have already a new version of this application? If there is where you can download it? Write me please. I very much appreciate your answer.

Duo Mobile (multi factor authentication) issue

Hi, sorry if I am posting in the wrong place.
I have the OnePlus 2, recently installed the latest build of Resurrection Remix after the update of Oxygen OS 3.5.5. I did a full wipe, data partition included.
There is one app that doesn't work right anymore and I can't tell if it is because of the update to Nougat or if there is an issue in how it works with the rom.
The app name is Duo Mobile, support Android 4.0 and up. I am not able to add the different services by scanning QR code or links by SMS. This was working fine on Oxygen 3.0.2.
The official answer from Duo support is that they can't guarantee support for custom roms.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Anyone having the same issues with this app?
Any logs I could gather to troubleshoot?
Without the proper troubleshooting done on your part there is little anyone will be able to tell you. Spend a few days and read up on log cats and other troubleshooting basics. Mainly when asking questions in a developers forum.

ROM Suggestion

Hello,
I'm a new purchaser of a Redmi Note 4 Pro (MediaTek), and was just hoping to get clarification of what ROM class I should use.
Currently my phone seems to have a Chinese Stable Rom installed (it has MIUI 8.5 | Stable , 8.5.2.0(MBFCNED), as it does not have the Google Apps by default and it has the Mi App Store, mostly in Chinese.
I'm looking probably for a Global rom, I'm willing to try a custom, if reputable ROM. I specifically need both English language and Korean language input capability, and if the system can be in Korean too that's a plus.
Thanks for the advice, and if any more information is needed please advise.
Mediatek = no custom ROMs, except for MIUI ports like those in Xiaomi.eu (that includes Korean too). Use the nikel custom ROMs, not mido (mido is Qualcomm version).

Upgrading to a 9.0 GSI Treble "A/B" partition style device?

Hi everyone!
I've bought a Mi Pad 4 LTE from Aliexpress and haven't already received it. (Specs says Oreo is installed).
I've read FAQs about Treble and still have questions :
1) From my understanding, I will receive a "A" partition style device, correct ?
2) When I get it, if I connect it to my WIFI Lan and update it to the latest online MIUI, will I be able to choose to upgrade to an "AB" partition style device (or not) ?
(FAQ says "For devices upgrading to Android 9, "system-as-root" is not mandatory"... )
Upgrading it to "AB" seems to be better as it supports seamless OTA updates & "A" is now considered as "old/legacy", isn't it?
3) Is it better to install a compatible ROM from "xda-developers / Project Treble / Treble-Enabled Device Development A/AB ROMS"
examples: [9.0][GSI][Treble][ARM64/ARM][A/AB][Official]OctopusOS[20/11/2018]
[9.0][GSI][Treble][Enforcing][VoLTE][Official]HavocOS V2.0 [27/10/2018]
** OR **
a ROM from "xda-developers / Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 / Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other Development"
examples: [ROM][9.x][UNOFFICIAL] CarbonROM | cr-7.0 [clover /MI PAD 4]
[ROM][9.x][UNOFFICIAL] Havoc OS v2.0 | [clover /MI PAD 4]
4) What are the rooting possibilities apart from Magisk? Can I trust Magisk?
My criteria:
Low draining batteries, GPS, BT output, phone, LTE/4G, sms, dark theme, 802.11ac simultaneous dual band 2.4/5GHz wifi, no bloatware or google spyware stuff, unlocked/rooted, open source ROM.
Any recommendation is welcome!
Thanks & Merry XMAS!
Ad. 1. You are correct.
Ad. 2. The device ia A style or A/B style. You will have to modify vendor, boot and add additional partition for B.
Ad. 3. Do you ask about... What is better ported rom or rom created for device? I suggest to pay attention to the no-gsi aicp mordiford. It is rom created in Japan by mi pad 4 owner for mi pad 4. Ported roms creates devs not owning pad 4.
Ad. 4.? I do not know. Do you know, your tablet has 20+ partitions. If you install custom rom you will have many apk from xiaomi on the not touched partitions. We have to trust the aps will not work and will not spy us. The magisk is 1000% more trustable.
Thank you for your answers Tomek0000, I really appreciate it.

1) What do you mean by "B"? (In the FAQ, they only talk about "A only" or AB). Is "B only" another type or it's just short for AB?
2) Do you think it's worth changing from A to B/AB?
3) Is there a procedure somewhere that I can follow "to modify vendor, boot and add additional partition for B"?
(since I assume that the MIUI online update from Oreo to Pie won't change my device from A to AB...)

Not really, I guess that this rom is "created for device"? : [ROM][9.x][UNOFFICIAL] CarbonROM | cr-7.0 [clover /MI PAD 4]
I've just read that "Porting" means shifting & modifying another android phones OS (Operating System/ User Interface) to your own phone.
For the moment, I don't see the point in choosing a ported rom.
I'm just looking for the most up to date vanilla pie ROM with maximum hardware compatibility inside a Generic System Image (no apk bloatware)
This rom isn't a "ported rom", is it? [9.0][GSI][Treble][ARM64/ARM][A/AB][Official]OctopusOS[20/11/2018]

The less apk bloatware, the better. Good to know that we can trust magisk.

Take Care
A/B has sense of 2 partitions for the same. You can fail during flashing A but you will have all time working B.
You have no option to change if you have A only device.
You have rom for device X but you want it for Y. You compile it and run on Y. Many things does not work. You fix it. If you have Y, you do it good if you do not have, your fixes will be blind, only with info abot results from forum.
The other way is if you own Y and want to prepare rom for your own use.
Ported rom brings only /system. Aicp comes with kernel. It will not replace all partitions, no chance. Especial vendor for treble is xiaomi's interes. We will have always some partitions not touched with xiaomi's content.
Sorry but this time, your explanations are not clear.

From my limited understanding, if a device is A only, it cannot be "upgraded" to an A/B device, since the partition scheme is completely different. Since the Mi Pad 4 is an A device, that's what we have and that's it. That's still not the end of the world, since we can take advantage of GSI's.
The other point I think he was trying to make was that it is usually better to use ROM's that were created by someone that actualy owns the device, since they have more motivation to try to fix the smaller things, compared to someone who ports to a device they don't own. GSI's are an example of this, and although they seem to work pretty well, they are still not perfect. The best way it to test and see for your self! Happy flashing!

No, you can force AB partition scheme by flashing MakeMeSAR.zip. Just do a Google search on MakeMeSAR.zip.

original Mi Box S (MDZ 22 AB) Oreo 8.1 firmware?

can anyone provide a link for 8.1 ? for people who want to down grade from Pie 9?
I do not encourage you try to downgrade from Pie to Oreo.
If you are having difficulties with the upgrade, the most effective interim solution is to perform a full system reset initiated from the Settings menu.
For those adventurous souls.............
Here's the official link for build 699 Oreo 8.1, which is the original rom shipped at intro.
https://android.googleapis.com/pack.../cf1bcb02c65dae169a2313ef62d9d0c63a91588d.zip
CAUTION: You cannot downgrade from any version of Pie without some complex manipulations of your firmware.
I will avoid linking to these instructions for the following reasons:
One necessary step involves opening your MiBox's case.
Careless users can inadvertently destroy DRM critical partitions, with ZERO chance to recover. This can impact your ability to use Netflix and other commercially licensed streaming services.

bigtalker,
thanks so much. fortunately (or unfortunately) i "am" an adventurous soul and i know of those links you speak of about changing back and forth between 8.1 and 9.0. and i am doing so seamlessly. this is not the problem.
the reason why i ask in this thread for the "original stock" 8.1 firmware is because of varying file sizes of such 8.1 DL's that i have taken from the Net...i dont know which one is original. yours is the smallest 8.1 file size so i suspect it is true. the others are larger which is dubious. that said, all of them boot up successfully (the 8.1's including yours and the 9.0) HOWEVER it appears i have ANOTHER separate problem (?) with my remote. which i would like your feedback on if possible on the thread below.....thanks much!

After upgraded to Android 9 last week, my Mi Box 3 can only output 5.1 surround sound channels instead of 7.1 which I have been enjoying on previous version Android 8.1. Any suggestion fix this issue so that 7.1 is working again? Else I may have to revert to 8.1 via the posted complicated steps.

Huawei Matepad T8

Dear Friends
I have bought a Huawei Mediapad T8 and I am trying to find a custom ROM to flash it. Unfortunately there is nothing on Cyanogenmod site.
If anyone has any reference site where I can find ROM s for this model please share it with me.
Sincerely
Konstantinos
Mediapad T8 has android 10 - so it can be part of Project Treble since it is 8+ - it means, you can flash GSI (generic system image) of many of custom roms and no need for certain full rom.
But, I guess, you will need to unlock bootloader and got permissive kernel and probably need to remove encryption for user data before got bootable custom rom.

Dear Friend
Thank you very much for replying to my thread. I admit that it is the first time that I heard about GSI (Generic System Image). I am looking for a custom rom so I can use the Play Store that is now missing from most Huawei devices. Unlocking bootloader is not so hard , I can get the code from Huawei in 7 months from now. Dealing with the GSI is something that I can not manage to be honest. I will wait for a custom rom. Thanx again.
Sincerely

@coa00kt
Actually there are more than 10 Custom ROMs available:
https://fossbytes.com/android-custom-roms/
Dear Friend
Thank you for the link. Which one is for Huawei Matepad T8? I can't find anything.
Please help

@coa00kt
Take note that any Android OS ( Stock ROM and/or Custom ROM ) you intend to install isn't device's model/brand dependant, but on device's CPU architecture. Almost all Android device's are powered by an ARM CPU.
Dear Friend
I am a noobie. Which ROM do you suggest for Mediatek MT8768 chipset (Octa-core 4x2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 & 4x1.50 GHz Cortex A53)?
Sincerely
Konstantinos
@coa00kt
Can't recommend any because I never used a Custom ROM: I have reasons for this.
Dear Friends
The main reason that I am looking a custom ROM is the advantage of using "Play Store". Otherwise Huawei Android 10 is just fine. Please help me find something that will work 100%. Otherwise I will stay with Huawei Android 10.
Thanx again

Dear friend,
In the meanwhile you can use GPStore alternatives like Aurora store or ApkPure or ApkMirror for apps that can not be found on Huawei's AppGallery.
On the other hand, you can install about 8 to 10 apps from Huawei phone/tablet (before US sticky fingers) in the form of backup and restore them to your tablet. Tutorial like this is simmilar for all phones. Also found some backup on GDrive for HiSuite or usb restore.

Hello Friend
I have installed APKPure , it is very usefull. About 80% percent of the applications are running fine. Unfortunately about 20% require the Google Play Services. I will stick to this solution until Huawei provides me the Bootloader Code (After 12 Months) and a custom rom is created .

Hi
You can just flash GApps pico. It installs Play Store and Google Service.
Do you know if Google apps pico require an unlocked bootloader? What is the process? Do I have to install custom recovery?
Hello.
Please, can someone extract the original apk from the notes and post here? I accidentally deleted mine and now I can't find it. Thanks.
Hi there, i managed to install a google account and a working playstore via this youtube tutorial, and google services is working outside of an irritating notification which you can turn off.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZVF9W-H228
The only thing is i don't know if i can upgrade firmware with out losing google apps again i'm on firmware 10.0.1
How to unlock the bootloader?

i wouldnt recommend installing a custom rom that is not specifically for your device, especially if you are a noobie. the devices appart from the SOC have many components that require specific drivers. in any case, you have to be extra carefull in following the instructions otherwise ou ll end up with a brick. your best bet is to find a recovery (again for your device) and flash open gapps.

But huawei doesn't provide bootloader unlock codes anymore
Is it possible to root Matepad T8 ?
I think you no longer need Custom ROM to use GApps into this device. I have bought this device few days ago and found a way to run GApps. Just open Huawei AppGallery and look for "GSpace", it will solve GApps issue.
