Fingerprint Gestures? - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

Hi!
Im aware that with some app its possible to get some fingerprint gestures for notifications, but I'd like to know if there is anything more advance, I mean swiping sideways to go back or to clear notifications for example. That would be great to have. I do not know if thats even possible hardware wise, but would love to have.
Thanks for any replies.

[Q] [App-Request]Multitasking with Gestures

Hi,
im looking for a App which implements the multitasking gestures from the iPad. I want to switch between apps with a 3 Finger Swipe gesture. I found only this, but it isnt useable with the status bar and smalls the screen for the app.
Can someone pls tell me app, which does this or can a developer make something like this?
Thx,
TearsDontFalls
No idea? Are there any other solutions for multitasking without home button?
No idea how it works on an iPad, but i use Swipepad + tasking for the edge of the screen.
Maybe not really what you want, but it;s something...
Okay, thank you, i will try it.

Skipping the Notification Bell (without root)

I posted this on the ZTE Community forums, and thought I'd add it here as well.
The notification bell on the lockscreen is a major annoyance for many of us. I was looking for some other way to manage this, but lockscreen widget apps don't work, and most lockscreen apps don't support the fingerprint reader, Smart Lock, or double tap to wake. After reading a lot of reviews, I'm cautiously optimistic about Next Lock Screen, an Android app by Microsoft, of all things! This app sort of runs "on top" of/with your built in lockscreen. It shows the notifications, right there, no bell, and it still works with the fingerprint reader and the double tap to wake feature on my ZTE Axon 7. It claims to still work with Smart Lock, but I haven't been able to try that yet.
Google Play Store Link: Next Lock Screen - Android Apps on Google Play
In the Next Lock Screen settings, set the "Screen Lock" option to "System" to keep your double tap to wake, fingerprint, PIN, etc. just as you already have them. If you do this, you will still get a glimpse of your old ZTE lockscreen now and then, when you try to go into the Next Lock Screen settings, and it shows you the ZTE screen and makes you fingerprint scan before changing settings.
The Next Lock Screen is not quite as fast as the ZTE Lockscreen, so you glimpse it briefly before your homescreen, when the device unlocks.
I like the app that you suggest, but is there a way to keep showing ZTE wallpapers? ZTEs setup keeps changing wallpapers everytime the screen wakes up. I kinda like the feature. I know the Next Lock Screen app has a similar feature with Bing wallpapers, but that is only once per day.
I've been using Next for the past week to get around the bell and it works quite well - especially with the fingerprint sensor. Very surprised that it took MS to make a very useful and intuitive lockscreen for Android. Of course, I'd rather have pure Android instead of an app work around.
That bell is truly a feature that i dont understand. So, si annoying and stupid.
Thanks for this but I'm gonna try the root way first

Basically any 3rd party lockscreen, like Next, AcDisplay, Ambient display, etc, will disable the stock lockscreen when the 3rd party app takes control. It's a work-around. People probably want some kind of interaction from the lockscreen anyway, and this is a way to get rid of the stupid bell and get that interactive display at the same time.
Edit: I missed the post before yours. I do hope that someone creates an option in settings on a future ROM to disable it directly though. After root and bootloader unlock of course.

or just shout about it loud enough at ZTEs, so that they will make it an optional feature in coming updates... there is a bunch of optimal features they should integrate:
- optional bell on lockscreen
- optional on-screen buttons (as chinese 6gb versions have already)
- optional black/dark theme (specially with that amoled display)
... will tell more when I got the phone :silly:
I kind of defeated the bell using Tasker to simulate a touch right where the bell is. Unfortunately it simulates a touch even when I use the finger print. Not really sure which is more annoying, the bell or having a touch in the upper left every time the screen comes on. That's how ****ing annoying this bell is.

How's that a root workaround? The method you described can be used without root as well and the problem with it is that it doesn't support the fingerprint scanner.
Does anyone have a stock android lockscreen app so I can install is as a system app and delete ZTE one? Thanks

Are you able to use fingerprint with NEXT and the stock lockscreen disabled? For some reason the only way I can use fingerprint is if I have both lockscreens enabled at the same time.

No, only with both on. It's slightly annoying, but less annoying than the bell.

Yes I agree!:good:
Can someone please make an xposed mode or something similar for those who have root and would like to keep the stock lock screen? I imagine it's not that difficult of a task, but I have little to no skills when it comes to coding so can't make anything like that ? Thank you

Sadly, I think you're limited to setting one wallpaper or using the Bing wallpapers.

Still, that was rather clever of you. :good:
I figured out how to have the bell auto open with Tasker. I uploaded the two profiles that are needed to do this. Probably not the most elegant Tasker work but meh it works. This works by simulating a touch where the bell is when you are on the lock screen but not when you use finger print unlock.
Looks like you need root for this.
To import: Save xmls to /sdcard/tasker/profiles
Load up tasker and long press profiles and hit "import".

I can confirm that this works for me as well. Thank You.
This profile works without root to auto hit the bell and is much faster than my other one. You need tasker and autoinput.

Pocophone F1's Breathing light & fingerprint scrolling function

Is it possible to
1. make notification light to turn into phone's breathing light? which will blink always. (notification blinking will be 2x or 3x faster than breathing blinking)
2. turn fingerprint sensor into scrolling function? like internet browsing scrolling, facebook scrolling and in homepage bringing down notification panel?
I don't understand what you mean by "breathing light", but there are a few apps that do useful things with the fingerprint sensor, in reply to your second query, though this unfortunately isn't baked into the firmware (my previous phone was a Moto, so had pretty handy Moto gestures natively - v cool).
I've been experimenting with an app called Fingerprint Gestures, which I quite like. I only use it to pull up the home screen, which is tricky sometimes, eg when you're using Google Maps.
Fingerprint Gestures lets you select any of a number of commands, by single, long or double tapping. Unfortunately to get it to scroll you'd need root.
Miui (being a royal pain in the hole) seems to mess with the permissions a bit such that you tend to get pestered about the same permissions repeatedly.
There are a few other similar apps I'm gonna try also.
Edit
I just tried 4 other apps, Fingerprint Action Pro, Fingerprint Gesture, Fingerprint Swipes & Hometouch. Couldn't get any of them to work as well as Fingerprint Gestures

I'm using 'finger scanner gestures', tried a lot of apps but unfortunately none of them seem to be able to handle swiping over scanner... Maybe hardware limitation?
Also, i can confirm, permissions that are already given seem to disappear after a while (happens for other apps too)

I remember similar blinking light on my Ericsson gh688 phone to indicate gsm signal was there......would be nice to have that on poco f1

Gesture to switch to previous app

After using native gestures on OnePlus 6 and Note 9 (One Hand Operation+) I'm 100% sure I will use gestures instead of navigation bar even if I have to give up Nova Launcher, but so far all the youtube videos I've seen there is no gesture to switch to last app which is something I use very often.
I was hoping I didn't have to install another gesture app on top of native gestures
Am I missing something is there a gesture to jump QUICKLY to last app? Or you have to swipe+hold/wait+swipe+tap everytime you want to go to previous app?
Could at least knuckle gestures do that or they're just for screenshots, split-scren and launch apps?
Up until now I haven't found a way to quickly switch between the last 2 apps. Hope they will include a new gesture with a future update
I ended up purchasing the app "edge gestures", previous app works really well on the Note 9 if I enable the "force previous app" option and it uses a faster animation as well, what's on the screenshot is all I wanted that is missing on native gestures, I'll see how it goes on Mate 20 pro I hope system doesn't kill the "edge gestures" app every few minutes
EDIT: I was forgetting about google assistant, I guess I'll set tap and hold for that as I will disable the option to launh google assistant with native gestures so it doesn't interfere with the edge gestures app
EDIT 2: okay I think "oneplus gestures" app will be better if ot doesn't interfere with native gestures from bottom center
TIP: Download NCleaner to get rid of constant notification "X app displaying over other apps" use the option "ongoing notification hider"
This is a great tip, thank you for it!
Whenever I have an app lock the screen (Edge gestures or Nova) it usually locks the screen and the phone immediately unlocks itself again. Do yo experience the same? Any fix that you know of?

Happens to me if you have faceunlock on and it detects your face. What I do is point it slightly away from my face when I double tap to turn off screen and its fine.
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Turns out that disabling the Direct Unlock (as opposed having to swipe up again after face unlock unlocks the phone) also resolves this.
Annoying either way, not sure why it recognises face again after locking the screen.

How to disable Hisearch, and debloat?

Guys, got my mate 20 Pro and it's a beast but, that REALLY annoying Hisearch thing is driving me nuts! I can't find a way to turn it off!
To be clear, this is the thing that if you swipe down on the screen brings up Hisearch. Trouble is, it happens all the time when pulling down the notifications. Who thought this was a good idea?!
Also, while I have you.... Is there an easy way to remove some of the stubborn Huawei crap apps? Previous on other phones, I've used something like Package Disabler Pro that didn't require root. Anything similar available that works without root?
Thanks, Pete.
I think accidentally bring HiSearch up is amuscle memory thing.
Providing you start the Swipe down from the sides of the notch (ie from on top of the notifications) then (for me at least) it reliably brings up the notifications only.
If you start the Swipe down from on top of the notch it's a little hit & miss whether you get notifications of Hi Search.
Swiping down from the middle of a screen reliably brings up HiSearch.
Well, I'm new to Huawei, so maybe I'll get used to it..
All the same, I don't like it, and would rather disable it or have the option to turn it off.
Agreed. I have a Google calendar agenda widget on one of the home screens. Every time i scroll down, the hi search come up. It's infuriating.
As far as I know, the only way to get rid of it is to switch the launcher. I use Nova, but you'll have to use the navigation bar instead of gestures otherwise the home gesture animation doesn't work properly.
Thanks, Nova has Indeed stopped it.
TBH, I really should have done that anyway shouldn't I?
I like the traditional 3 button setup anyway, so nothing lost for me.
Thanks again.
HiSearch is horrible. I also used to use a package disabler pro but that won't work on this mate 20Pro.
That HiSearch swipe is looking more and more like a Bixby button that can't be remapped.

Thanks! Just what I need. That warning headline looks pretty scary lol to a guy not adept at command line. :-O
Fortunately looks like everyone is having good success and no side effects of removal yet. I'm gonna break out of my comfort zone and take the plunge. That HiSearch is truly abysmal, insultingly so.
I'm gonna do a little happy dance in the grave of HiSearch once it's dead and gone.

Ok cool, totally understand. Exceeded my thanks quote for the day so here is one instead. :good:
It makes scrolling widgets unusable such as fenix or BBC news.... So 3rd party launcher for me. + I want the dock hiding too
You can get rid of Hi-Search with the surgical removal listed above. So far no-one has reported any side effects from doing so. What drives me nuts is that Android doesn't have the split pulldown as rule of law. Pull down ANYWHERE on the left or right to either swipe down your normal notifications screen or just the raw full system settings icons. Disabling Hi-Search doesn't help if you still have to dislocate your thumb to scrounge around on the 3 pixels that will trigger the pulldown.
it's a long time since nobody wrote here but, hey new stuff for XPERTz:
2 mobile phones: Huawei P9 Lite - Huawei Y7 2018 & no ****ing com.huawei.search package inside to remove! How's that possible? (I got rid of all the bloatware I could, using pm unistall etc... BUT CAN'T REMOVE HISEARCH )
Let me give you the chance to become more than XPERTz...
