I had to reset my phone recently. The phone is setup to automatically use the network time and timezone. And that works fine for apps, the clock, etc. The one problem I have is in Chrome. When I go to a site like espn.com or mlssoccer.com it always shows me game times in UTC. http://whatismytimezone.com/ also shows UTC. I do have GPS on (high accuracy) and Chrome has the location permission enabled. But, no matter what, I see UTC in Chrome. This issue did not exist before the factory reset.
Any ideas on how to resolve this?
I should add that other browsers, like Firefox, render times correctly using the correct timezone.

My Google Maps was working fine yesterday on ICS 4.04 with CM9 nightly. Suddenly, this morning, it started force-closing on me. I wiped the app's data, uninstalled, reinstalled, but to no avail.
Logcat shows that maps throws a Java.IllegalArgumentException (greatest common divisor should be computed on numbers greater than zero), most of it in com.google.android.maps.driveabout.vector.**
Now I've noticed that this only happens when I reach a certain zoom level on certain parts of certain cities. E.g. Sacramento, CA gives no problem on any zoom level, but Kunming, YN, China does it when I zoom in far enough on almost any part of the city (it still seems to happen before the 3D building zoom level, though). Beijing, on the other hand, gives no trouble on most zoom levels except for some parts of the city.
What could possibly be wrong and how can this happen overnight?
Same thing happened to me this morning. Fine yesterday and early this morning, then before noon it started force closing. Tried all the normal wipes but no joy. Finally tried a "uninstall updates" and that fixed it, but some features, like walking navigation, were no longer available. Worked fine that way all day.
Just now I did an app upgrade and now it's working again. No idea what the cause was.
I have a "35 min to Home" card that pops up on Google Now and my watch around when I leave work for home. On my phone looking at Google Now everything looks fine, but when I swipe left on the notification to see the mini map of the route it shows the wrong location. I don't see any of the route home on the mini map. It seems to have picked an area about half a state away instead of my current location, or the suggested route.
I have tried to fix this problem by:
1. Uninstalling Google Maps, clearing data, re-installing
2. re-syncing apps to watch
3. resetting watch to factory settings
Anyone else have this issue or know of any methods to correct it ?
Thanks.
THL 4000, android 4.4.2, kingo rooted (rooted long before problems started)
All of the sudden, some of my apps (not all of them) have started crashing and crashing the entire OS when trying to go online. The logcat shows: E (675) could not open '/data/data/hotplug/cmd' file is missing
This happens with facebook messenger, Gett, facebook itself ( who doesnt crash but cant go online), and more. Browser, whatsapp and others arent affected.
Another issue started at approximatly the same time, where my wifi switch widget refuses to go offline. Turning wifi off through the settings shows to be ok, but the outside widgets stays on, and suddenly finds new networks and the wifi goes live again by itself.
Any ideas or other information I can provide?
Cheers
Hey Guys -
I recently upgraded to a Galaxy S9+ and overall love it despite not being able to root. For the past couple of weeks, I've had a three very annoying issues though. I've tried many things to resolve, but so far can't figure out solutions. Below are thr issues and what I've tried to fix each. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
1. Random ads open in default browser (Firefox) no matter what I'm doing / what app I'm in
It doesn't matter what app I'm in, every 5 min or so Firefox opens on top of whatever I'm currently using without warning and displays an ad in a webpage. I use the Ublock tool in Firefox so sometimes it opens to a blocked webpage
What I've tried to fix:
- Closed all tabs, cleared history / personal data, then force quit Firefox
- Restarted phone
- Tried many malware apps like Malwarebytes but scans come in clean
- Uninstalled apps not installed from Google Play (only a couple)
- Put all apps not needed to run in background asleep
- Disabled notifications for apps I don't need
2. Display configs randomly apply
I have my screen set to turn off after 2 minutes and also have "always on display" enabled during the daytime which is different than simply leaving display on. Currently, though; after 2 min the screen just dims - that's it. If I hit a button to turn screen off it works, but if I place it on charger after doing this, the lock screen appears and it just Dom's after 2 minutes too. Basically, always on display only works after I press a button to power display off
What I've tried to fix:
- Verifying settings we're correct
- Setting configs differently then reverting them
- Disabled all MacroDroid / AutoMagic scripts
- Installed Greenify to put apps to sleep thinking one may be keeping device awake
3. Secure Startup Reverts
My work uses InTune and requires strict policies and settings in order for sync to work - one of these is Secure Startup where you must enter your passcode after reboot. Every couple of days or after a reboot, this setting Reverts from being enabled to disabled this making my phone daily compliance and stopping sync of work stuff. I must manually reenable it, then jump through hoops to get it compliant again. This has been an issue since I got the phone.
Any suggestions for any of the above?
Thanks!!
You could have a malware in your phone. When I had my note 8 I experienced something similar with the ads, it was very annoying. Long story short... I had to do a factory reset
I agree with TonyGzl92. It is probably Malware.
If the problem persist and you have deleted all installed apps and still get the problem you will ned to perform a factory reset and watch the phone after every app you install.
I had the issue with the screen just dimming instead of going completely off, and it was a conflict with an app I had installed. Pretty sure it was a Play Store app, but it's been long enough I no longer remember what app it was.
Hello,
I noticed a problem on my LG V30 H930 on Android 9.
Some apps won't load data over wifi networks (e.g my home wifi, sometimes in hotel), but not all (it works at my college, or in public wifi in shops), or they load very slowly.
For example Twitter : it plays videos or pictures only after 1 or 2 minutes of loading. However there is no such issue when I go on twitter.com in my web browser (on my phone).
Google Play Store : Downloading apps is stuck, it stays pending download for 5-10 minutes (sometimes forever). So I don't get updates whenever they are available.
Some games get stuck at the login step with my google play games account.
I have an Internet Speed widget showing only a few Bytes/s whne these apps get stuck, compared to 2-3 MBytes/s when everything is working fine
I don't have these problems using 4G
So I don't know if it is a network issue or the phone.
Do you have any idea ? Thanks
Are you using VPN? Try with that turned off if possible.
Please do hardware test using *#546368#*930# , kindly check if wifi test returns passed.
