So this is kind of confusing. I bought this phone from a certain E-Commerce site called Lazada in December 2016. The title says "Redmi Note 3 Pro 16GB" which the Pro version has the Qualcomm SOC (Kenzo), so I bought it. And, 3 days later I got the phone. Checked the system Information, it says Mediatek. Take a look at first Attachment.
Now that we know it's Mediatek, I am about to download the Hennessy ROM. But, things strikes me again when I was checking my device have FPC or Goodix. Downloaded AIDA64, and guess what? It shows as Qualcomm 650. Take a look at second Attachment.
I was be like "You gotta be kidding me", so I downloaded another apps, and look. It's still Qualcomm 650. Take a look at the rest of the Attachments.
Now that you know about my situation, which ROM should I flash? Should I flash ROMs for Hennessy or Kenzo? Or this is a very common case where you can fake a hardware information?
Note before: I know you may probably think that why I didn't return the phone back to them. My previous phone dead from a Motherboard failure and I didn't have any phone at the moment. So, I don't think twice about the MTK or Qualcomm. I need a phone asap.
Thanks. Hope my information helps.

You have the snapdragon version, I can't see the word mediatek anywhere in the first attachment [emoji28] it only says hexacore which is the snapdragon, mediatek is an octacore

Hexa-core 1.8ghz is enough. It's Snapdragon. Go download kenzo ROM.

Hey... Got my Redmi 3 Pro last week, this is a fantastic device!
I read a lot about it before I bought it but there is one question left: does it support Qualcomms Quickcharge 2.0?
Read about it in another forum, they couldn't give an answer. Also there is a list made by Qualcomm about the devices that support Quickcharge, there are some Xiaomi devices but no Redmi.
Is there anyone out there who can say yes or no?
Thanks

No.
So, yes and no like always.
Well, as far as I know, the thing is like that: the soc (snap 616) does support Qualcomm QuickCharge, but the device itself doesn't, because it isn't just about having a specific processor.. It requires also a certain level of quality in all the other components (and Redmi3, being a low end device, doesn't have it)
Redmi 3 only supports the "standard" 2A quick charge.. I have never tried checking the actual charging time.. I believe it is around 2,30 to 3 hours

What do you want? OF course it does not support! Just read about that phone before asking this question .... Do you really think it would have never been written? @volpe96 gave you a answer.

Thanks... The phones price tag is low end, the specs are midrange. When you look what devices Qualcomm Quickcharge 2.0 support, then the Redmi 3 Pro could also support it https://www.qualcomm.com/documents/quick-charge-device-list
Even the bigger brother the Redmi Note 3 supports it.
@MTK6589 If you don't want to answer then let it be. I'm no noob who buys a phone, crashes it and asks in different threads how to repair it. I read a lot about the Redmi 3 Pro, but that is the only thing that wasn't clear. You're very unfriendly in my opinion, don't know why!

I know the specs are midrange.. But the quality of the materials (probably) is not.. And i am talking about the USB connector, the battery, inner filaments, and so on.. Not every piece of metal is capable of tolerating a big current through it without being damaged

Hey,
I'm about to order Redmi Note 4 or 4x, but I'm not sure which one. I live in Croatia and I don't know any better site. Maybe GearBest or GeekBuying but I don't know, recommendations welcomed
Here are 2 devices I was looking

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Glo...Snapdragon-Octa-Core-5-5-FHD/32796560515.html
I'm looking to buy black one, and I was trying to find 4gb/64gb model (SD625), but black color is not available.
Which one should I get?
Sorry if this is duplicated thread,

The 4x has fast charging and comes with a snapdragon 625 processor. The note 4 has no fast charging and comes in 2 different processor options. The faster mediateck processor and snapdragon 625. The 4x is cheaper because it comes with a slower processor. Antutu benchmark has 60,000 for the snapdragon and 80,000 with the mediateck processor. Also there are different global versions with different bands that will work for your country. Go to willmyphonework.net to check compatibility. There are other sites you can try to buy from geekbuying.com and AliExpress.com. Also you can see the different variants on kimovil.com. this site will also tell you prices benchmark scores and a lot more.
Nonsens 4x and 4 are the same.
4X may got diffrent camera sensor.
And its not support fast charging.
And is a Snap Dragon 625.
Get original Redmi Note 4 only.
I also think I have read that they are the same, and only difference is that LTE band or something?
I'm only looking for SD processor because it has more custom roms if I'm not wrong. And I've read that some people have problem with flashing roms on 4x or something
And yeah, I think its Snapdragon 625, not 652
There are 3 different versions of the Redmi Note 4:
1) Redmi Note 4 with Deca-Core Helio X20
2) Redmi Note 4 with Snapdragon 625
3) Redmi Note 4X with Snapdragon 625
Option (2) is imho the "best" of them all as it has not only the better battery compared to its brother (option (1)) but also has more bands (at least LTE Band 20, I think also Band 8 and Band 4 is a difference; you miss out on Bands 39 and 41) than it's cousin (option (3)).
I purchased myself option (2) and am hoping it will arrive soon. Of interesting observation is that (1) and (2) share the same root of name (being "Redmi Note 4") but option (2) is sometimes called "Redmi Note 4 Global Edition" or "Redmi Note 4 International Edition). But some sellers use that name as well for option (3) so please be extra mindful when selecting the option. What is more curious is that (2) and (3) seem to share the EXACT same dimensions and hole-setup, so when looking for a case you may be better off searching for Redmi Note 4X compatible ones as the IR-blaster share the same location amongst both.
As it seems the 64GB version seems to only be available in White+Gold as of now but I decided to not care and if I should care too much exchange the back of the phone for a silver coloured one. Obviously that voids the warranty, but I think international warranty repairs will become more expensive than a new phone will cost. I believe the back from option (3) should fit but I give no guarantee on that as I have had neither phone in my hand nor disassembled either and tested it out.
Further, no devices seem to support quick charging and I would not worry too much about it. The battery is quite large and using the SD version one should have quite a power efficient SoC.
The camera sensor seems to be largely based on Samsung's ISOCell technology these days, so no love from Sony IMX. I hope that noone gets the OmniVision version in here---they are said to be the worst.

Thank You very much for detailed description. I think I've read somewhere that 4x SD version has Sony camera sensor, but I can't confirm that.

And yeah, lets hope for no OmniVision

Cheers,
the 3 sensors are not only restricted to the Redmi Note 4 Global Edition but also the 4X apparently. Best of luck on the sensor for you in any case.
Regarding LTE: Check with your local provider and the general setup of countries you plan to visit for best coverage information. This may change in the future but unlikely for larger changes as 4G is the de-facto standard right now and mature enough to have settled mostly.
There are several Redmi Note 4:
1. RN 4 (mediatek)
2.RN 4 (normal, sd 625) (ex. Indian Version)
3.RN 4 GLOBAL (sd 625, has LTE Band 20 - sometimes very useful depending on wich country) - Croatia you need this for some operators
Please do check this article on wikipedia : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks_in_Europe , apparently in Croatia you need LTE B3 and B20 - hence get the RN 4 GLOBAL
4. RN 4X (sd 625, identical to normal version but with more Lte band only for China, also has BlueTooth 4.2 wheres all the other versions have 4.1)
As of camera sensor, it is like a lottery, you either get the Sony IMX258 or the Samsung S5K3L8. Please note that another NEW version of the phone is recently introduced to the market - RN 4X 3/16GB (please note the 3gb of Ram and 16 (sixteen) GB Rom) - DON'T get this one - it has a new Camera Sensor - Omnivision (chinese!). Imho both Sony and Samsung sensors are somewhat on par, but have been reports where the Omnivision senor has had problems.
If you need more info quote or PM me.
EDIT;
from the link you provided i suggest the second one because it clearly indicates the presence of B20 in the description: https://it.aliexpress.com/item/Glob...Snapdragon-Octa-Core-5-5-FHD/32796560515.html

Ok so long story short, I'm looking at a new phone somewhere around 200 eur. The note 4x stands out to me as being good. However, I'm really confused about the different versions (CPU and stuff) and am wondering if anyone can help me out.
I've found these 2 phones. One has the Qualcomm CPU whilst the other seems to have the Mediatek helio. Which one is better/what are the key differences between them. Also, do they both ship with the Chinese MIUI or global? (sadly can't add links yet).
(I'm aware that this is sliiiightly off topic but is the note 4x the best Xiaomi phone under 200? What about the redmi 4x and others?...)
Thanks in advance, a noob who's way out of his league.
Edit: I'm stupid, both phones have the same CPU. My other questions still stand though.

YO,
Get the qualcomm snapdragon variant if you're into modding, tweaking.
Dunno about what version the device shops with, it's depends upon the regions too I guess as mine shipped with global stable (Indian variant of Redmi-note-4 (snapdragon)), you might get different version of miui installed on your device, I dunno much about MIUI version tho.
Yep, it's the best device under 200 atm.
Redmi 4X is also good one, but it has snapdragon 435 and it's better to get Redmi note 4.
hey guys when the global rom is installed is it normal for it to show up as a redmi note 4 not the 4x?
also if that is normal will it affect anything like apps working or OTA updates?

The seller of the note 4x I'm buying from pointed out that exact thing. It's normal from what I know.
I don't think it affects apps and updates since under the skin, the 2 devices should be the near same.

Thank you. I just wanted to be sure since Xiaomi.eu lists Redmi Note 4 Qualcomm,Redmi Note 4 (MTK version I guess?),Redmi 4x,something called Redmi Note 4x (?) is avaliable in my country as well.. It is more confusing than 3 models. But is Mido the variant with international LTE?
If my Note 3 Pro isnt in this town on Thursday (in my country, Retailers have 30 days for RMA including holidays and such, quite nice), I will try to get my money back and get 32GB version of Note 4 (Mido). I really do not need 64gig model, since I have 32GB SD card for ROMs and music.

Ah, yeah. Xiaomi's naming scheme completely sucks!
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x considered as Mido on their website, you've to DL note 4x's EU rom, it'll works for any snapdragon 625 powered Mido, doesn't matter whatever they call it. Ie; in India they sold snapdragon variant of Redmi-note-4 as redmi-note-4 only whereas redmi note 4X on most of the places.
Don't worry, just dont get confused, get the Redmi note 4 /4x which ships with Snapdragon 625 in it, good to go. And yeah, it has storage expansion too.
So Redmi Note 4 with S625 is Mido.. Confusing as hell. Different market, different naming.. Not surprised retailers are confused. I was originaly thinking about 5.2inch Redmi 4,but after seeing how little is community working on it,I will have to live with that giant 5.5inch display.

Hi,just one more thing. Were you able to find tempered glass screen protector that would fit? Note 4 has (unfortunately) 2.5D glass. At first I was hoping a Note 3 screen protector I have extra would fit,but now I´m really not sure.
Now I´m confused even more. What is Note 4x? Is it Mido as well? I havent found anything about it on Xiaomi.eu phone list. XDA also does not list that phone. Is it Mido as well? I dont want to end up with wrong phone since Czech Resellers are confused as well.

If it has a Snapdragon 625, then it is Mido. My phone is a Note 4X, with SD625. Mido ROMs are perfectly fine on it. Just make sure that it does not have a Mediatek chipset, and you will be fine.
So Chinese version (with "Global"/ EU LTE) is Note 4 and Indian version is 4X? I cant even buy Mediatek version (fortunately) in my country. I´m asking mainly because some sellers on Aliexpress are warning that screen protectors for 4X wont fit 4 etc. Thanks guys! Lets hope I can get my Note 4 in few days.

Ah man... Lemme make this very clear!
Indian version of Redmi-note-4 is of Snapdragon variant (SD 625) and Xiaomi called it ad redmi note 4 only!
Indian variant of Redmi-note-4 is nothing but Xiaomi's all Snapdragon versions of Redmi-note-4/4x with Snapdragon Soc, except some bands / hardware things. You can install redmi note 4 (SD 625) Roms on any Xiaomi's redmi note 4 / 4x variant if it is of Snapdragon 625 soc. (I'm not writing about Chinese variant of Redmi-note-4x here)
All I can say is, don't get confused, just get the one with Snapdragon 625 on it, you're good to go.

When you get yours, you will see where your screen protector needs to have all its perforations. I have not found it difficult to get tempered glass screen protectors for my 4X (from ebay).
Thanks. I rather ask twice since our Czech Resellers are confused. Thanks! Hopefully I will be able to order mine today or tommorow. And are you using custom ROM or MIUI? I would like to try MIUI 8 on 7.0 Nougat first (Splitscreen)

I'm running custom ROMs from the very beginning! I don't really like Miui... Well that's depends upon the taste xD
I have a Vertu Aster P Chinese clone, purchased from here https://www.luxuryvertu.cn/ProID473.html and since buying it, I've been desperate to try and update it from the Vertu-themed Android 6.0 Marshmallow that it came with.
They lie about the phone specs on their site that I got it from. It doesn't run Android 8.0 and it doesn't have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC .The genuine Vertu Aster P runs on Android 9.0 Pie, which is what this clone should have really come with, being a late 2019 phone and to stay true to the genuine Vertu. Trouble is, being a Chinese replica, and having an MTK SoC, there is no support for it. The manufacturers refuse to provide me with the kernel source code, so I'm at a dead end in terms of any Android development.
One thing I did notice is that the 'Device Info' app shows the device as being a 'gionee6755_66_m'. See the second attachment that I've uploaded. Does this mean anything to anyone? Is it the model of a specific Gionee handset? Could this be a clue as to what the Chinese clone makers based this phone off? If so, I do know of a few threads here and there on XDA related to Gionee development.
Also, in the third screenshot attachment that I've uploaded, you can see that the icons for data connection and aeroplane mode are rubbing up against each other, suggesting that someone has made a 'quick and dirty' fix to try and get both of the icons to fit the width of this phone's screen. Which also might suggest that this ROM was actually pulled from another device. Any thoughts?

Note that you on every Android device can fake its brand and/or model: you can even make it think to be an Apple iPhone 11 Pro. You also can fake its version of Android OS. What you can't (easily) change are descriptions of installed hardware components .
So one can't really say your device is a Vertu Aster P or Gionee6755_66_m or whatever.
What I think happened is that you got screwed.

I wasn't 'screwed' as such. That's a bit of a crass term. The device is of premium quality, feels as heavy as a genuine Vertu and really does look the part. And it performs perfectly fine on Android 6.0. The phone is fast and responsive and does whatever I need it to do.
That said, it wouldn't have caused them any more distress in putting Android 9.0 onto this phone. The MT6755 Helio P10 chipset that this clone has is more than capable of running 9.0. Why they didn't is a mystery to me.
