Is there any stable ROM on KIW-L21? - Honor 5X Questions & Answers

Hey, I would like to ask is if there some fast and stable ROM on my Honor 5X without bugs for daily using? I would love to try LineageOS, but on the thread everyone says wifi doesnt work.... Emui is making my phone slow

You need to be more precise, like dual sim needed, android car needed and so on...
Because i have no issue at all and use my kiwi daily with many roms...
Some have issue because their wifi is 5ghz or they want lte on both sims, ....

Apps
I just need finger print scanner, good camera and good compatibility with apps. Wifi etc. of course is needed

[Q] Ultra with DSC-QX10

Hi,
since the update to 4.4.4 my sony camera DSC-QX10 doesn´t work as it does before under 4.4.3 :crying:
Sometimes it dosen´t even connect to the mobile (no matter if I use nfc or wifi) and in any case it works extremly slow. If I use my older moto g (4.4.4 too) it works perfect, fast and stable connection, fast and stble functions.
any ideas?
thx, Olli
You Can Still Use It As A Stand alone Camera . Until issues is resolved . Or try to rest everything up. I'm speaking blindly here but . That normally first step is start clean

help,in a rush plz advice

hi guys, planning on buying the redmi note 3-snapdragon variant(kenzo,if im right).so is there any stable cm based rom with all the hardware working (ril-3G data, camera -photo& video-- being my priority),xposed compatability is imp too for ui tweaks.i dont mind even if its just lollipop, just want to have the lighter cm based rom, aosp would be too bland for me.hoping for advice frm rn3-sd users,in fact i wanted mi max but development seems to be slow for that device, plz pour in with your advices
I think you can go for it. I am using this devices since the release and I am very happy with the development.
it has official CM
If you want VoLTE you can go for AOSP
I have one and everything works perfectly on CM13 with the front camera fix flashed and Radon Kernel. I love it
You can definitely buy this phone. Most of the cm13 based roms have all the features working, also there's a huge choice between custom roms. And of course xposed is working very well.

Correct. If you don't care for Volte, almost most of the custom roms are stable enough to use it as daily driver. Volte is still not supported in most of the custom roms like CM13. CM14 supports it but it's WIP rom right now.
thank you very much for the input friends,it means a lot to me.i was going thru the respective rom threads(cm13,rr) some users were complaining abt camera,fp sensor, settings fc...something abt newer rn3 having slightly diff h/w and causing problems.anything in particular that i should be watching out for?...i just ordered 32gb ver of rn3 frm amazon india, its pending dispatch.ever since its release i wanted to get one..although seeing some user complaints i was wondering if i made the right decision...thats why i was in such a rush

Well, they are right. All the problems you've mentioned here do exist, but....
As i can see you can use xda search pretty well, and if such a problem occurs you can easily find a way to fix it.
So don't worry ?

Are N ROMs stable these days?

Guys,
So I'll be spending three months abroad, and likely to travel a fair bit for my job in the next few years. I'd like to get myself a dual-sim phone - one sim with my current home phone number, the other for the US sim (or wherever I go). I've been looking at Xiaomi phones for a while now, and the RN3 SnapDragon is the best value, I would think.
My current phone is a Nexus 5X - I bought it because I love stock android. For me, MIUI is an absolute non-starter. (I've also got an HTC One M8, and tried MIUI 7 and 8 on it - can't stand it.) So I'd have to rely on custom ROMs.
Hence my question : Are any of the N ROMs on Kate stable for daily, dual-sim use? I've gotten used to N on my Nexus and would find it hard to go back to MM (but I could if needed). I mostly use my phone as a communications node (calls, texts), as a web browser, and as a music player in my car via BT.
Thanks much!
Camera Bugs and Flashlight are the most popular issues encountered in N ROMs, some apps crashing and like that. So, in my opinion, I'd stick with MM ROMs for now. I'm using the Lineage OS 13.0 ROM as my daily driver.
I'm using Resurrection remix for the last 4 days and since then no reboot was even needed, so it seems stable for me. There are small bugs, like the flashlight bug and disappearing battery information from the statusbar (this may be RR specific bug), but for me it's no big deal.

Pretty much stable for me. The main problem are the incompatible camera HAL driver. But it's not big deal. Just flashlight toogle must pressed 2-3 times for turn on sometimes, and random crash on camera. It can be fixed by flashing google camera from OpenGapps.
Yes, use last cm official nightly. I'm using from 2 months without any issue

Don't flash any custom kernel or anything
OK - so no crashes with Google Camera? Other than that (and the flashlight toggle), pretty stable on CM14.1? (And by CM, I assume you mean Lineage?)
Okay, so BabyTedhu said Google Camera works, so I flashed CM 14.1 with Stock GAPPS (Google Camera replaces Stock AOSP), is it by default that you can't save through SD card? There's no option to save thru SD card.

There's no option to save through sd card. It's set by google.

Try nitrogen os rom. Most stable nougat for now. Camera and fp works fine with stock kernel
Nougat is pretty much stable already, but I would recommend getting a kenzo over a kate so that you can flash custom software easily. Also, it is slightly easier to find accesories for the kenzo.
Ya nitrogen os has no camera bug it is stable 99%. As compared to other Android 7 roms
Using RR nightly, Smooth & rare bugs which mentioned earlier.
Any Other better ROM than this? Nitrogen vs RR ? Which is best ?
Even Slim ROM shows stable build. Any EXP. on this ?
OK, awesome. Good to know. I wasn't tracking Nitrogen OS, thanks to whoever pointed that out. I'm a huge fan of the Slim series in general, really hoping that it'll be good to go on RN3 soon.
Thanks to everyone for the inputs! I was scared for a bit that I'd have to invest in a Mi5 (their Nougat ROMs seemed to be pretty stable, from what I could read), but glad to know I won't have to. This is just for a travel phone anyway, and the RN3 would be fine for that.
Cheers!
Go for Redmi note 3 pro(kenzo) as development for this model is absolutely amazing. Don't go for the (kate) as it's very difficult to mod that device and also can't flash custom ROM easily on it.
But he is getting the kate since he would be travelling a lot. So those extra bands might help him??
Well - my understanding is Kate only has one additional band (20) which wouldn't even be used in the States (where I'd do 60-70% of my travel). The regular Kenzo is still a fair bit better than most traditional Xiaomi phones in terms of LTE band availability. But honestly, LTE band availability is not a big deal to me. Any Xiaomi phone would be fine - I just talk/text, and do light web surfing when I'm using cell data. Most of my heavy lifting happens when I'm home or on a WiFi connection.
AFAIK, you can use Kenzo ROMs with Kate easily. Just flash Kate firmware-update folder.
Oh really?!? That makes a big difference then. But what do you mean : "Just flash Kate firmware-update folder"?

MIUI ROMs contain a folder with firmware for the base band. That's the "firmware-update" folder I'm talking about. There are threads in this forum which provide Kate firmware to replace in Kenzo ROMs.

Best Rom for Kate, Miui is to far behind

Hi all,
I'am quite happy with my Redmi Note 3 Pro SE (Kate).
And Miui is also quite good. Love the battery life.
However,
I run the Global Beta rom weekly, and the version is 7.6.8.
Dating back from June 2017. And it doesn't look like there will be an update any time soon.
So.... I'am looking for an other rom.
But what one to choose?
LineageOS 14.1?
Nitrogen OS?
ResurrectionRemix 5.8.x?
CarbonRom?
ViperOS?
Or... Wait and stay on Miui?
What is important to me.
Stable
Battery friendly
Good Bluetooth (have android wear watch (Huawei Watch) and bt headphones (MDR-1000X))
Good GPS (Sygic)
Good and stable Camera
Good Music
SD card (128GB Samsung Evo+) should work perfectly
4G (LTE) should work stable and fast
Voice recording (in-call)
And ofcourse calls should be good and stable
I don't do gaming, so no interests there.
Please,
Advice me in a Rom to take, and explain why that rom instead of an other rom.
Thanks in advance.
Use Nexus Experience ROM with Radon kernel with performance settings.
For better music use shox audio mod for our device.
For good camera use the HDR and 60fps canera which is recently ported.
Enjoy!
NX ROM with Radon kernel is great (still using Marshmallow though, because of no Xposed on Nougat).

@deepjyoti30 Which ported camera? Do you have a link?

Uploaded today. Pretty awesome. Bdw i think xposed for night is out now.

Is someone running a phh-treble rom?

Hey just wondering if some of you are running a treble rom. Which one and how it compares to TouchWiz.
Thanks
I haven't tried it, but according to the ones that have tried it, everything works, except dual stereo speakers, fingerprint kinda works but there are some bugs, and of course.. All Samsungy tech, iris scanner, aperture changes etc.. It can be a daily driver though if you can live without those features.. The good things is, it's smooth as silk.. The performance and battery life are on par with the stock..
I'm really sure sooner or later the fingerprint bug and dual stereo speakers will be fixed.

Oh cool, thanks for the reply. Hope there will be a AOSP rom soon ^^
Maybe we need a thread to discuss about treble rom and with a guide how to flash with a index of treble rom. I want to made it, but my English it's not so cool. Maybe with the help of a mod it can be possible
The HK models can have project treble roms right?
