Yeah you can install XPOSED in both lp and mm.
Flash GApps again (before installing Xposed) from TWRP to fix the problem of crashing of Google Play Services in lp.
In mm Xposed will work flawlessly.
If you see black screen after flashing GApps, then clean flash the stock ROM again and then flash GApps, it will work.
Download the Xposed installer app from below.
Don't worry if a warning is displayed alongside my attachment. It is because I am new to XDA.

Xposed always breaks safety net. There is no way around it. Some apps like Netflix, pokemon go won't work when safety net doesn't pass.
However you can pass ctsprofile(which is needed for magisk hide to work) in safety net by installing the xposed module "No device Check". Passing Basic integrity is impossible due to zygote. Refer google or @topjohnwu's thread for more details.
Are there specifiy types of ROMs where Magisk and Xposed are working flawlessly or it doesn't matter, any ROM is suitable?
I'm thinking about differences in Android 7.0/7.1 vs 8.0, or MIUI vs. Lineage etc.
Thank you!

If you want ROM with Magisk integrated I'd suggest Resurrection Remix ROM, lovely ROM with exactly what you're looking for!
@ArK96
I installed RR 5.8.5 (in dualboot), flashed the latest Magisk and its Manager. Sucessfully imported and installed the latest Xposed (SDK25) but then how can I open Xposed and use a module IN Xposed? There was no icon or app, just a module in Magisk which said "everything is ok". I used the Framework on my prev. Samsung phones, it was totally different, it had an icon and own UI.
Thanks!

Working Xposed on Redmi 5 Plus?

So, I've tried the latest v90/v88.2/v88.1/v89 and flashed the olt verify zip. But I'm just keep getting stuck in bootloop. I'm on MIUI 9.5.2.0 NEGCNFA(China) Nougat.
Is there anyway to get Xposed to work? I've dug around the forums for resources, but none of them seem to work. Any possible resources for me to try out? Thanks for any help in advance.
P.S: I do have the latest Magisk installed, which means I have full root over my device.
Hello
Xposed installer 3.1.5 working fine with version 89 without flashing the olt verify.zip
Thanks you
xposed does not work with Global stable ROM
Works on Global Rom
Can confirm what mrbelou at #2 said.
I use the Xposed installer and Version 89 normal install (without Recovery) and it works on Global stable ROM !
I'm actually on Miui Global 9.5.4.0 Stable.
i do that but still get bootloop

I second that, after installing had bootloop, then restarted again and runs perfectly
Do not work in Miui.eu. Hard bootloop.
i installed xposed from magisk.
For both Xposed and Xposed Systemless/Magisk on MIUI goes:
1.) Install Xposed Installer APK first
2.) IMPORTANT: Disable resource hooks in Xposed Installer to prevent bootloop
3.) Reboot to recovery
4.) Install Xposed Framework in recovery
Do not boot with Android 8.1.

no, i didn't face battery drain.
i use this rom builder there is last version of magisk can be merged in the rom that you build.
http://mi-globe.com/rom-builder/
battery drain often related to kernel, i use agni kernel. and this is history of ampere and voltage of battery : http://s8.picofile.com/file/8323878076/Screenshot_2018_04_17_01_17_42_679_ccc71_at.png
