Hi, i have very strange problem since 6 months. When the phone CPU is set to its default frequencies (for BIG 2100-800Mhz and LITTLE 1500-400) cpu temp rises up to 75 degrees celsius without doing anything like playing games or browsing, then freezes and starts rebooting every second. The only solution ive found to prevent the reboots is to set up the cpu to 1200-400mhz for BIG and LITTLE, but the phone goes very slow. Is there any fix or it's a hardware problem and the motherboard must be replaced ? Thanks.

A good solution is to flash the stock firmware again without install any kernel on it. Try to see if this helps. Have you change any governor ? When this started ?

I am on stock kernel and firmware(7.0) with root and governor is userspace. Only this method helps. I've noticed something that in recovery or download mode the phone doesn't restart. So i think that the problem could be a corrupted file or something like that but i don't know how to repair it.
I have the exact same problem. Any solution? Cheers

I'm running prebeta 4 - and just wondering if anyone is having there phone heat up on them? It only takes about 5-10 minutes of use and it gets pretty warm? I have gone into the performance settings and lowered the cpu speed to 913mhz? That seemed to help a tad, but it could just be in my head.
Another thing i noticed is that copy and paste doesn't work. Is anyone else able to solve that issue?
Thanks!

It does heat up a bit. You may want to try undervolting your phone. I've noticed that it doesn't get as warm. If you do a search there are a few threads on the topic. No C+P problems for me.
I installed CM7 yesterday too. Haven't had any issues with heating up yet. Idle is around 32C. Performance wise , this is the best ! as enomai said, you can under volt your phone by going to settings>cm settings>performance>"watch out for the dragons ahead! >CPU settings>change the min and max cpu frequency to your desire MHz.
You might need to reflash and wipe everything. Or find out what rogue app you got going.
I voided my warranty and your mum.
had a force close and notice that caused it to overheat, checked set cpu and noticed it sitting at 1300 constantly and not scaling or dropping at all.. had to reboot for it to cool down.

AAhhh ok. Well in that case I would say if it's not a piece of software * like for example do you have TWO overclock softwares installed, like setcpu AND another?*, then it's probably a kernel problem. I would uninstall whatever software you have to overclock, reboot into fastboot, do a
fastboot erase boot
fastboot reboot
, and then reboot into recovery and try flashing the kernel again. wipe cache, see if this works.
Do I need to get Setcpu to undervolt my phone? I'm a bit nervous that the heat will damage my phone. I really love cm7, but I need it to not overheat. This never happened when I ran stock? What do you guys think?

I havnt been running into any overheating issues at all, actually been running cooler on CM7. Im running Faux's 1.3 OC kernal instead of the kernal that came with it though. Try reflashing the kernal or flashing another one of Faux's kernals for CM7. I would definitely install Setcpu so u can moiter the battery and processer temps. Set up a few profiles and try undervolting some.
I think it's just me but I don't know, I have to be doing something wrong cause I keep running into deep sleep/lockscreen problems on ICS roms. what could possibly be causing this? the only time I never had lockscreen issues was passion v11-v12 and now on v13 I have them again, what I am doing wrong??
please any tips/advice are appreciated.
I'm also running into the same problem on v13.. Have you tried flashing the clean up patch?? I haven't tried it yet but I think it's supposed to help.. Personally I think it's kernel related
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
yeah I am running v13 with the clean up patch but it's still occurring, which is surprising cause after the problem seemed to be gone with v11, I thought I'd seen the end of it. And I love passion ics way too much to just let this effing bug wreck it for me. I wil let you know if I find anything out
smartass-based governors are the problem. use any non smartass-based governor and the issue vanishes.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk
I'm using the ondemand governor and the problem still occasionally occurs for me.. What governor are you using???
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
By default my phone was set to ondemand and when i would turn the screen off and then back on it would not detect my touches on the screen i would have to turn the screen off and on again to be able to do anything. I just switched the option to smartassV2 and the problem seems to have gone away.
menu>system settings>performance>processor>CPU governor
(For those looking)
Check what your CPU minimum is set at. It should be at 200. I've had issues with it at 100, and some people said that they needed to increase it to 400.
I've had better success with performance than others, but this issue persists with every kernel, every gov, and every frequency. I went back to v12, where I never had this problem, and it's working well. hopefully they figure out the problem and it's solution as well.
for anyone who wants to stay on v13 (RC1) just use performance and the lock screen of death will be minimal. good luck my friends!
I am not using any governors at the moment...is it impossible to reach deep idle without this?
you're using one of the govs, android can't operate without them, but to change it you need to look in settings>performance

I heard people about this problems, I having this, and I resolve put the Min Processor on 200 (previously I down to 100 better Battery after that, i experiencing lockscreen problems, I reversed all changes again 200)
Hi guys.
I have issued something for a long time now, that my phone reboots.
This happens when I'm browsing on it, and suddently it reboots. I feel that the battery is kinda hot so I take it out, leave it for 2-3 minutes and take it back in and use it till it reboots again.
My phone have rebooted only when I'm running custom ROM and root, I THINK.
Sometimes overclocked, but I have runned stock freq sometimes when it reboots. Maybe the settings, government and those things?
Now Im going to run my phone without any root and see how it goes. But may custom ROM and root cause my phone to reboot?
Sorry for my bad english.
Thanks!
Cant c how root can cause the problem, as this has nothing to do with the CPU. What kernel are you using? with what rom?
Are your bootloader locked or unlocked?
It can be that your CPU frequency is not set properly, make sure it is not running high all the time, eg 998mhz or more. make sure it is also not running to low.
Get Cpu Master and set max to 998mhz and low to around 300mhz and see what that do for you.
I restored my phone last weekend to 2.3.3 now. And unfortunately it still reboots often
Without root and anything!

Which tool did u use?
Try different tool like pcc/seus/ft
If still persists.... Then it's time to get a new chipset... Or a new device.

Yeah, maybe it's time to get it fixed by the shop.. it sucks -.-
Hey Guys.
I recently had a question about going back to stock firmware and kernel. Because my phone had this strange reboot problem and i felt going to stock would fix it.
[Q] Need Help - Can I Safely Go Back To Stock ROM And Kernel?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1978781
I did manage to get myself back to stock in the end
(Lots of thanks to Dzufa for his consistent help)
But now, my problem still persists and I felt it should be in a different thread.
My phone will just freeze suddenly and reboot whenever I do most things.
Normaly always while im using internet, or charging.
Example..
Even simple texting while charging sends me into a bootloop(3 or 4 loops before it stops)
Or using the internet for about 15mins.
If i use the internet WHILE charging. It lasts no more than 2 mins before a loop.
A common side effect of this, is loss of data(which is the biggest problem about it really)
It deletes all my texts, contacts and other info. (sometimes even when i manualy turn my phone off, or when it runs out of charge)
My Question is,
Does anyone have any knowledge about this problem? Any ideas why this is happening? and most importantly, is it fixable?
Thanks anyone who replys!
Oh and, I guess I should mention this too.

Hey dude,
try to check your CPU temp, you can use rom toolbox to do that. See attached sample picture.
Some phones cant more than 45 C, and it will automatically reboot once this temp reached!!!
And then reduce you max CPU Freq to +/- 500 MHz, and check the result.
Also defective battery can produce this kind of reboot.

Hey man sorry i havnt got back to you sooner! Alot of thanks for your reply =D
Ive been keeping an eye on my CPU Temp (Battery temp? I dunno, just finding general temp)
I downloaded Rom toolbox, but i cant see where that attachment is located?
Like.. how do i find out that info? I downloaded something completely different for CPU temp because i had no luck on RTB.
And, Reduce my "Max CPU Freq" to just 500? Wouldnt that like.. seriously lag it xD
Thanks for your help man, I definetly believe your on the right track with it being the CPU overheating.
Ive been underclocking it at 798 or something and trying to keep my phone cool.
Definite progress! Still cant charge at use net at same time tho, but im getting general good internet use now =)
If you could help me out with that RBT cpu part, id be greatful.
Cheers!

Just to be clear.
I can get to the CPU control part (CPU Sliders) Even though it looks completely different(old version i guess)
But, that little popup info box, cant get that? Thanks

For all that have reboot problems with 3g internet I will reccomend to change this line in build.prop in the system folder:
ro.ril.gprsclass=7 and then reboot.
If You do not have this line, just add this.
Normal setting have a value of 10
In some cases some of x10 have a bug with full 3g. It is a hardware problem. Some x10 works fine but there some witch have a problem with this. Changing this value from oryginal 10 to 7 makes less power consumer and less hot your x10. Also change this value make a slowest transfer with 3g network but this is not a problem.
I try defferent values. I try 9,8 and it was still problem and my x10 was hot and reboot. With value 7 is stable. Where Your problem are still in time
Try change value to 6.

Thanks! I just tried it. Rebooting phone right now.
Should this fix just the internet heating it up? Or Internet while charging?
im rooted n upgraded from 128 fw. I gets random reboots. Any fix this issue?
When does the reboots happen? When you do something specific, like playing heavy 3D games? Maybe overheating causes phone to restart. Have you checked temps of CPU?

totaly random
Is that the latest firmware available for your model?
I've experience random reboots as well after I flashed the pre-rooted TWRP with .167 system and kernel. I've also noticed that the phone reboots frequently when downloading apps in Google Play.
i had rr yesterday (always when phone goes to deepsleep) and solved with a factory reset, then installed one by one mods checking there are no reboots
Doing a clean install/flash, wiping dalvik cache, and bumping max cpu clock speed to 1.459 GHz and min to 400 GHz seem to fix the random reboots on my .167. I haven't had a rr for a week now.
Edit:
I was a doing a little more browsing and I think I found the solution over in the general forums. It sounds quite promising and seems like it's stood the test of time (which is 4 days that's been recorded) I'm in the middle of trying this method and I'll get back to you guys in a few days if it actually works.
Find the method here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/m4-aqua/general/guide-fixing-random-gplay-app-install-t3338362
Good luck
Original Post:
I've even had problems with random reboots on the stock 26.1.A.1.112 Commercial & Journalist version with nothing but being rooted. So i don't think it has to do with programs.
In my honest opinion the problem seems more to do with the stock roms having a problem with root on a bootloader locked m4 aqua.
The only thing that I know can almost certainly cause a reboot is updating apps on the play store. I'll usually have at least 1 reboot during that.
I've been fortunate enough this time around only receiving a reboot about once per day which is manageable for me but it's still an underlying issue.
Any new insights into this would be great. Maybe we can collaborate.
Likewise. Although i can sometimes get about 2 days without rebooting. But i do notice that the reboots are usually when updating apps,(though not always) or randomly when battery is fully or almost fully charged.
Currently on 3.111 rooted, xposed installed.

That's awesome. You won't regret it. I gave up on having root awhile ago because of the reboots and I'm so happy that this fix works. It feels so freeing!
If you need any help when you do go for it, feel free to message me.
Good luck!
