Problems with flashing offical roms on Redmi Note 3 (SnapDragon) - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Firstly, I try to unlock the bootloader and flash cm14 rom with the unofficial method (without applying from the mi.com). Unfortunately, it becomes soft brick. then I make the deep flash cable to enter the 9008 mode and use mi flash tool to flash the miui rom in it. However, after successful flashing, the mobile either cannot open or just showing mi logo for forever. I have tried at least 10+ miui rom (global, chinese and develop with different versions). Even I exchange the recovery .img to try to enter the twrp, it still cannot enter, I duno what is the problem, finally, i download a Rom and flash it, I can enter the recovery (twrp) but still cannot enter the miui. Now I can flash cm14.1 in it. But I just wanna know why? i have searched many posts saying taht just enter 9008 mode and flash the miui rom and everything is ok, but what i get is bootloop or dead.

I did turn off on several trial of flashing, and the result is the same.
i am wondering if there is any lock by xiaomi to prevent flashing with the latest rom. That means after flashing the latest rom, your phone will be locked and no more other official rom can be flashed using 9008 method.

Problem! Back to MIUI from CM13 with unofficial unlocked bootloader!

Hi guys,

Nope, it's not a problem.
1. Download the fastboot ROM and MiFlash
2. Enter EDL mode.
3. Flash the ROM with MiFlash (if u have problems with stable version, just install the beta one).
I dont know why...but it not work!
When i go in fastboot mode and flash with miflash the official developer rom it says "Critical partition flashing is not allowed"!
When i go in edl mode and flash with miflash the rom it says "Open Serial Port COM 3: Failed"!
The adb driver is correctly installed but in device manager it is a yellow error on the device.
I think the reason is because i have now a marshmallow bootloader from CM13, and not a lollipop bootloader from MIUI. Is this correct?
What can i do? Please help me!

unlock boot loader-->flash twrp through fast boot-->restore backup
If you are coming from MM do not directly flash MIUI 5.1 first restore the old backup of MIUI because some users had lost their IMEI.TC

[HELP]*Strangest Bootloop Ever xiaomi redmi note 3 pro (Snapdragon version)

Hello and first of all thank you for reading. I've a strange problem with my redmi note 3 pro.
i was chatting with it but suddenly it starts to have bootloops (mi logo flashes). I tried to restore it with recovery (it was still not unlocked) but nothing to do. So i flashed rom with the miflash and in edl mode (i tried latest stable, latest developer and first developer fastboot roms) but the bootloop was still here. So i tried to unlock bootloader with unoficial method (official says that my phone is linked to another account, absolutely false but i will come to this point later). Tried to flash zip with TWRP but still bootloops. I was tired and i tried cm13. It worked, phone boots and i was absolutely happy but dialer crashes when i receive calls. So i understand that my phone wants the boot.img of android 6.0 to not go into bootloop. I flashed (via TWRP) latest 6.0 based miui rom and it worked but still with dialer problem. I tried to unlock it but still no go. So i decided to try to sign out of my miaccount (yeah it was still there after flash with miflash in EDL mode, don't know why!) becasue it asked me to enter my password to use the phone when i boot miui 6.0 for the first time.
SO i Have absolutely no idea on what i should do. Phone bootloops when i use a 5.1 based rom, and with 6.0 dialer crashes. That's the strangest thing ever.
I tried many fastboot roms in edl and in fastboot, i tried custom recoveries and stock one, tried to unlock and relock bootloader. I tried basically everything (wipes, system-data-cache-internal) EVERYTHING!
please if you hava any idea i will be glad to try!
I've tried to restore a backup from another RN3P but still bootloop. Maybe is somethig related to the boot.img? changing it makes the phone boot.
Go to a Mi service center. They might be able to help you.
Which gapps you installed after you flashed cm13...
When i used stock package, my dialer was also crashing but when i used micro package, the problem was solved....

I had a similar issue a while ago with a friend's Samsung. The service center people said that it was a RAM issue..
. If you can return the phone to wherever you bought it from, Do it ASAP and get another model...
Otherwise you might have to go to a service center and tell them exactly what you are facing. Before that i must suggest
Try installing a custom Kernel perhaps and see if it still bootloops
For every worst case software/firmware failure, full rom flash would be the one to solve it. Based on your story, it must be the hardware problem. So if possible, bring it to your nearest service center..
i really thank you for the reply but this phone comes from china and i'm in Italy so I have no warranty at all (including the fact i changed the screen) I think i will use it as an ipod. I've posted a log of the kernel bootloop so maybe someone with skills could help me!
that's the log! http://pastebin.com/b3CVcBAT

HOW TO SWICH BETWEEN CM13 OR CM14 TO any NON STOCK MIUI ROMS NO PCCC??

lease i need to know now i have unlocked bootloader and twrp and i am ready now for custom roms
i want to use cm roms and miui roms without going back to pc to flash stock miui again then unlock bootloader again blalalala
how to use miui UN official ROMS rom twrp directly withou going back to pc to flash stock miui ?
and from where we can find these roms ?
how can we swich from cm13 or cm14 roms directly from twrp to any MIUI rom (not stock) ( like i was doing in my old lenovo or LG ) all from TWRP NOOOOO PCCCC?????
thanks in advance
You can flash latest miui EU weekly to go back to miui (it doesnt lock the BL), you can flash almost anything (Lineage OS, RR,...) and flash eu weekly to go back to miui. BL will get locked upgrading/downgrading android LP to MM or MM to LP will lock BL and some roms also lock BL (like multirom stable 8.1.0.0, some custom roms, firmwares)
I always ended with brick if flashed official miui tbrough twrp and have tried cofface twrp,zcx,..

OK ... what you say is i can use twrp to flash CM 13 OR CM 14 Or AOSP ROMS or MIUI EU ROMS all from twrp any time and every thing will be OK as long as i will not flash OFFICIAL MIUI
and here i will not need any PC even when i am on CM 14 OR CM 13 then flashing any MIUI EU from TWRP ZCX
AND what about if i restored my STOCK OFFICIAL TWRP BACKUP ??? will it be OK ??
Thanks in advance
Yeah you can flash CM13,CM14,Lineage OS...
But some custom roms also locks BL(it would say so usually)
Also multirom 8.1.0.0 locked BL and official ROMs...
I do that: Use ZCX twrp, clean flash always (have all partitions backed on sd and all files for flashing on sd)
Wipe all except sd, flash CM13/14 or any other rom that doesnt relocks BL. Then if I want to go back to MiUi, just wipe all again and flash EU ROM (it does not lock).
So that way you can switch ROMs without PC...
If it flashes and turn off after flashing it means BL got locked, you must go in fastboot and unlock it with MiUnlock.
I think restoring official will also relock BL...
Just be sure to have backup of all 44partitions (EFS,Modem,radio..) in case you lose radios or imei...

How to do that i did full backup from zcx from my first stock miui once i flashed it ... is this what you mean or zcx can't make this special backup?
and can i make this backup from any rom that is working with me or i should return to stock again ?
AND If it flashes and turn off after flashing it means BL got locked, you must go in fastboot and unlock it with MiUnlock.
can i do this once i put the phone in fastboot and use miunlock and open twrp then flash another rom - or i have to first go back to stock miui then RE unlock bbotloader then flash new recovery ...... bla bla bla
Yeah I use zcx to backup all partitions also Alka can do this too. So if you did full backup with Zcx you are good to go
If it blinks and turns off, BL got locked. You must only go in fastboot, connect with PC, log in to MiUnlock, click unlock and reboot. No need to flash stock miui with MiFlash...
When i try to restore the backup, on rebooting, it shows wrong password. Same problem with both CM and MIUI roms.
Try without restoring data
Error "Couldn't check device security info miui.eu ..... how can i get over that
and i can't enter twrp again
You must be connected to internet while loging in on initial boot up...sometimes server is offline, try multiple times, reboot... Or try flashing miui eu weekly 6.11.3 first
How are you booting to twrp?
You must turn off device
,hold power and volume up, when mi logo appears, release power and keep holding volume up until you see twrp.

i think my bootloader is locked and i did restor flash from the beginning edl mode and i am booting now from stock again ... nice to do that and thank you for your concern
i will unlock again and flash twrp again
the question is why is that happened i was in rr 6 then i wipped and flash miui.eu ( i flashed the same version before and it worked fine )
any way thanks a lot you are my teacher here >>>>
edit its OK now i am on stock MIUI 8 .
So what now
What should I do to flash cm 13 and cm 14 Roms and flash miui.eu Roms without mistakes I will go and try again
my problem was i forgot to reset factory settings after each change from cm to miui
but i think there is another solution instead of wipping all internal data every time i change cm to miui and miui to cm romsss

Bricked? Mi logo shows up for a second and then phone shuts down

The plan which lead to the situation was like that: install the lastest miui developer's rom in order to get the latest firmware. Then install the LineageOS 14.1.
So i downloaded the latest miui developer's version from here: miui download-301.html#438
Downloaded the final LineageOS from here: lineageos.org kenzo
and the google apps for Arm64 7.1 from here: opengapps
(I am not allowed to post links)
Steps i took:
1.Boot into recovery
2.Factory reset
3.Install miui rom
4.Factory reset
5.Install LineageOS
6.Install google apps
7.reboot
Is there any screw up here?
After those steps my phone on start up flashes the Mi icon and then shuts down.
I can't get into recovery but i can get into fastboot
I have tried installing MiFlash and flash the original version but i get "MiFlash Error. Critical Partition Flashing is not allowed."
I have tried getting into edl mode but windows 7 x64 cannot find the "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008" drivers. (I have read that this may fix the MiFlash error)
Have anybody experience anything similar, how would you suggest me to proceed?
Thanks
Your bootloader got locked.
You have to unlock it officially via fastboot and Miunlock or you can flash fastboot ROM with MiFlash via this guide:
http://en.miui.com/thread-235865-1-1.html
Firmware only gets permanently installed with fastboot rom flash, you were installing recovery rom, which deletes firmware after a factory reset i believe.
Just flash by the guide provided, it will definetlly work if you do it the right way.
Then you can wipe all and flash LOS+arm64 gapps
Just dont wipe microSD or if you dont have it then leave internal storage where you keep that.

Thanks for the link, i will try the steps mentioned and reply back tomorrow.
Regarding the reason of this situation, i think the recovery program stated that factory reset was wiping data, system and dalvik cache. Those partitions wouldn't flash the firmware right?
edit:
The description in the link provided by denistina solved my problem, i have managed to install the fastboot rom. My problem was that windows did not recognize the qualcomm drivers, but when i set the update path of the driver to "MiFlashInstallationDir\Source\ThirdParty\Qualcomm\Driver" i got it solved. (as it's described in the link, the signature verification should be disabled)

if yr phone is still bricked, unbrick it via edl method.
then unlock recovery officially

I had the lollipop or something like before the upgrade. So i wanted to get the firmware up to speed. The LineageOS doesn't include one if i am not mistaken.
But even if it was pointless, why did it created those complications?
It was not pointless, its the only way to update firmware and bootloader permenently if you flash EDL fastboot ROM and officialy unlock it. Its the only right way, especially if you never flashed with MiFlash before.
Nice that I helped you enjoy

in the miflash the default option is to relock the bootloader. (flash+lock)
I didn't realize that when i did the procedure, so i think if i wouldn't have selected that option the bootloader would have remained unlcoked.

Yea, you can choose flash all and lock or only flash all.
You can manually unlock like you did if tou have permission, so no problem that way

Get a custom recovery to wipe all partitions out. There might be an easy way out but you'd want to prefer a clean flash after this. And did you use EDL before unlocking?

That is quite a bad state that you have gotten yourself into. If you can reboot into bootloader, you can wipe every partition and flash a fastboot image of MIUI ROM to get it back to work. Remember to be specific about IMG files as they can make/break your system. You have a soft brick now but selecting a wrong IMG file can result a hard brick.
Any Updates ?
