Hello!
You can try the following:
1. search and download sp flashtool. Actually you can get this from official SP Flashtool official site.
Assuming you are running Windows, also download MediaTek USB VCOM drivers and Driver Auto Installer v1.1236.00 from the same site.
2. have an S580 rom ready.
The Process:
1. Install the windows drivers you downloaded
2. Open the folder you extracted SP Flashtool and run it as administrator.
3. Inside the folder of your unzipped rom file, look for a file similar to XXXXXXXXXX_scatter_file.txt
4. Load this in the SP Flashtool (click downlad tab, then scatter loading, load this file in there. It should load your rom you will see some colours, etc...
The tricky part:
Assuming you have correctly installed the drivers:
1. turn off the device (well if bricked it is turned off all ready) just make sure, and if possible remove the battery.
2. Click the green download button on SP Flashtool.
3. Hold down the Vol down key on your s580 and connect it to a usb port.
4. If you see a red line and continue to yellow, all is probably good! Don't let go of the vol - button until yellow line reaches 100%
If it fails, try again by removing the mediatek drivers, and by installing the latest lenovo USB drivers you can find.

My phone has a Qualcomm Snapdragon will mediatek drivers work on Snapdragon chipset

You have nothing to lose by trying! I cannot think of any further damage you can do to the device. If you want to be cautious, trying installing only the lenovo drivers and following the steps.
If your phone is not recognized and the process does not either not complete or initiate at all, then also install the mediatek drivers. The mediatek drivers are to facilitate communication between device and computer, they are not going into your device. What your device will get is whatever is in the scatter file in the rom you should have downloaded.
Googling about your problem, turned up using SP Flash anyway, you can google it too.
Hope I am helping, let me know how it goes! I recently revived my Lenovo Tab 3 8 Wifi following the steps I described!

qualcomm specific info
Hello Adrenoaak322.
You never posted back whether you were successful or not in reviving the phone. Anyway, I found some qualcomm specific information. I will pm you the links, if you want to take a look. Hope it helps.

Definitely worth trying. Perhaps even better from SP Flashtool, since QFIL is qualcomm specific.
You will need to do a little research on how it works, if it needs some kind of file similar to scatter file for SP, etc, etc. I sent some links to your PM that maybe useful in the process.
Maybe other users, around here, with more experience can help out?!? Anyone???

boot to "recovery mode" by pressing the volume up and power button after the lenovo and android logo appears release both buttons and immediately touch the Home button. Do clear wipe data after that select reboot now. in which case it will take a while but do not worry just wait until your lenovo returns to normal.

MediaTek DA USB VCOM Port - Help me fix Code 10 problem

PLEASE! I need to load a new ROM into my MT6575 phone using Smart Phone Flash tool.
I've installed the Mediatek drivers on 4 different computers in my house (Vista, Window 7, Windows 7 64bit, Windows 8) and I cant get ANY of them to work!!
When I look under Ports (COM and LPT) in Device Manager, I ALWAYS get: This device cannot start. (Code 10)
WHAT is going on!! I've wasted so much time with this problem.

your not the only one with this problem i have it too with same mt6575 someone help please
Need to uninstall device and reinstall drivers
If you google, "Code 10", you will find that on a Windows system it is an error code generated by the Device Manager "because it can not start a device". In a nut shell, the most likely cause for this is because the device was not properly installed with the right drivers.
If you are running Windows, you can try to use the attached file called USBReview to see what device that is as you know it is your phone. Basically, with this program you can remove all the old drivers and start all the driver installation again.
Try to find your phone either here on xda, on the web or contact your phone's manufacturer - you need drivers!!!
Good luck, Mr. Phelps.

This is what worked for me after lot of experimenting and searching:
- get MTK6575 drivers (for instance from Bruno Martins where he writes about flashing mtk6575 - google: MT6575 flashing tutorial bruno
- Start c/windows/system32/hdwwiz.exe (as admin)
- Click next
- Manually select hardware
- List all devices
- Select the driver (for example usb2ser_Win764.inf)
- from the List select "MediaTek Preloader USB VCOM Port"
(or you can install other drivers from the list if Preloader is not enough..)
On another computer I solved it by installing whole Android SDK, checked my android system and installed updated for SDK (approx. 2 GB) and it installed correct drivers automatically.
Also you can experiment with using another usb port..
Please write here if it helped.

Did you ever get this problem solved as I have the same issue with an MTK 6592 chip based phone?
I have the same problem too.
Installation of Media Tek preloaded drivers gives me Code 10 error.
Has anyone found the solution?
my phone is totally dead without power now after I tried to flash with SP Flash tool using correct ROM. I noticed in device manager that there is a CODE 10 error in mediatek preloader usb driver.. is this the culprit? my phone can no longer be detected now in SPFlash or MTK Droid tools... so hopeless... this is a brandnew phone I bought to be given as gift to my cousin...
I did it! I did it! I did it!
The solution is... we need not MediaTek USB VCOM (Android) (USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0005&MI_02), but PreLoader USB VCOM Port (USB\Vid_0e8d&Pid_2000) !
I have MTK6582 (KingSing S2), the host - WinXPx64.
It looks like my phone (and, maybe, other MTK devices too) have several engineering modes.
I have spent several hours trying to get working VID_0BB4&PID_0005&MI_02, which is exposed, if device is turned on while holding VOL- pressed. In this mode some strange factory mode with nonfunctional menu items is displayed on the screen. But to activate mode with Vid_0e8d&Pid_2000 some trickery is necessary.
Sometimes this USB interface starts repeatedly to appear and disappear every half-second in infinitive loop. I had such situation once, when connected turned off phone to USB cable with battery removed.
I just literally catched MT65xx Preloader by double clicking on it in windows device manager and pressing "install drivers" in it's properties. I have used Driver_Auto_Installer_v1.1236.00\SmartPhoneDriver\x64\Infs\usbvcom.inf from http://spflashtool.com/download/Driver_Auto_Installer_v1.1236.00.zip. DriverVer = 12/24/2011, 2.0000.0.0
After clicking "Read Back" in Flash Tool this insane loop stopped and program started to function as intended.
This interface could also appear once and for very short moment, if turned off phone (with battery inserted) is just connected to host. Also it could be seen again, if power button is pressed. If "Download" or "Read Back" is not pressed in advance in Flash Tool, than boot will continue after smaller than a second pause (if device is functional).
I don't know if running Install.bat (from archive I have given above) is necessary. It didn't installed driver when Vid_0e8d&Pid_2000 wasn't active, but, I guess, running it during short blinks would give the same effect.
Also, I don't know, if advice given in comment#6 in this thread four years ago would work. Maybe, the fault was in older version of driver (DriverVer=05/30/2011,1.1123.0).
Another reason could be that necessary USB interface disappears before windows manages to install driver for it for the first time. Possibly, only if "catched" in device manager, user could manually assign driver to it.
I've been struggling with my UMI Rome for days. It has/had the black screen problem, sometimes won't enter recovery mode, sometimes wouldn't allow charge, sometimes works just fine (yesterday). Last night i mistakenly cut off power during a battery recharge. -- today it has all the above problems (bricked) so I am trying doing a flashing again using the tutorials and tools on the Tehnotone.com site. Sintetix's reply above helps me at least have a better clue on what is going on. Wish me luck! BTW, I am using a Dell Windows 10 pc. (Results to be reported here.)

I tried what you said. It wouldn't install properly. It kept saying error (code 10) and showed in device management with a caution sign every time I installed the driver. I disabled the forced driver signature thingamabop but it still does it. I guess I'm screwed. Has anyone else fixed this?

Preloader MT65xx is not visible in device manager

Hi guys,
I was recently trying to recover my IMEIs, I have formatted my device using SP Flash tool and when I tried to flash stock ROM after format, my PC is unable to recognize my device, I went to device manager and when I disconnected and reconnected my device to PC it is not showing any Preloader MT65xx, some "Alcatel .................." hardware is showing.
Please guide me how can make my Preloader visible in device manager. Please do not direct me to a tutorial of Installing VCOM driver, I know how to install VCOM driver, here I am unable to see my Preloader in the device manager.

I even plugged out the battery (its not removable) without damaging the phone...

Hi. Because you have formated your nand you must reinstall your drivers, because your preloader now is messed up.
In order to do that you must do this:
1. Install drivers.
2. Go to device manager and let the window open.
3. Connect your phone and new hardware should appear for just a seccond or 2 max, something with MTK 6.5.XXX.
4. Click very fast on the little new thing that appear there because will desapear.
5. Now press the button to update drivers hardware. In one of my posts you will find an archive with the right drivers. Drivers are on the archive uploaded here.
6. After the drivers are installed your PC should recognize the phone.
7. After this the steps should be the same to flash your ROM. Oh and by the way: Press Firmware Upgrade button not Download. And dont forget to check DA/DL With Checksum... option
8. Waiting for feedback.
9. Good Luck.

Help with unbricking

Hello,
I flashed a ROM with sp-tool but the phone does not open. I power it on but nothing happens, no vibration, no screen flashing nothing.
Now I try to reflash the stock ROM but:
If I connect it it to PC it is recognized as MTK USB Port instead of MediaTek Preloader USB VCOM and SPTools returns DRAM failed error.
I tried removing the battery and connecting it, pressing VOL+ etc but the same happens.
I read this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943442 but I could not do something. I found in the guide a link in a Russian forum where they talked about flashing the preloader using the board's PINs, but the translate does not give me quality information on how to do this
Any ideas?
Thank you

Hi. What you did is to brick your preloader. It seems to me that your phone is made after 03.2014.
What you have to do is:
1. reinstall the driver. Follow the tutorial from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-p780/help/lenovo-p780-mt6589-device-hard-bricked-t2890675
2. download the good preloader from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/len...cked-flashing-wrong-rom-doesnt-t2749683/page4
3. replace the preloader from your downloaded ROM with the one from step 2.
4. Start SP FLASH TOOL and load scatter file
5. Check DA/DL WITH CHECKSUM
6. Flash it normaly now.
7. Good Luck
8. Waiting for feedback....

.. Connect-disconnect repeatly. And SPFT can't work.. Can't format, can't readback, can't flash.. And ERROR : STATUS_EXCEED_NUM_MAX for rom global dev and china dev..please give me solution :crying::crying:
Thanks..
Can you get into the bootloader to use fastboot? Does that much work? If not, you may be in trouble
Also, are you positive you have the MTK driver installed correctly? I remember there being driver verification issues with Win10.

Can not enter fastboot or recovery mode .. I am using win 7 64bit .. And for the mtk driver I've tried to install repeatedly from various sources and in various ways but the result is the same.

If your repeatedly getting disconnect/reconnect I would suggest you use another USB cable or USB port because that's not normal.
If not then it may be a driver/PC issue.

Ok..I'm going to buy a new cable.
Still unresolved. I try memory test SPFT can run normally. Device manager detects as MediaTek DA vcom usb .. But if I format or flashing error message appears again .. STATUS_DA_HASH_MISMATCH.
Perhaps try downloading different firmware if you're getting a hash error?
I still think getting into fastboot is important...Since Official MIUI doesn't have a real recovery, you're better off installing TWRP and seeing if you can do something from within recovery.

Is your Rn4 a mtk device or snapdragon device???? Please check.
If it is mtk then u would require scatter file along with correct firmware.
And if it is a snapdragon device, u can flash most of the things through bootloader mode.
Hope it helps.

Working with MTK devices is bit tricky.
though you will get success, i Hope
If you are sure that your device is MTK, then ofcourse your bootloader mode will not work. So try to adopt this solution:
1. Get SPFlash Tool, the latest one. http://spflashtool.com/
2. Get MediaTek USB VCOM drivers. http://spflashtool.com/
3. Now most important Get your Original Firmware along with the Scatter file. The SPflashtool only recognizes the scatter file. So you need ROM along with scatter file.
check this link and follow the instructions http://en.miui.com/thread-370620-1-1.html
check your ROM if it is here. Only Use the correct firmware for your devices otherwise you may do a permanent damage to your device. http://en.miui.com/download-309.html#454
Hope it helps.
Hi i have the same problem, spft always give me an error, i cannot enter in fastboot or recovery, did you solve the problem?
have you flashed preloader or had you selected "Format all and Download"? If not, or maybe yes,, try to flash custom cust.img and just plug in your phone without holding vol-down button. Also make sure that you disable driver signature enforcement. Anyway it sounds scary as I reflash my fastboot firmware on SP Flash Tool ocasionally after using twrp.

If it doesn't work,, have a motherboard replacement
hello i managed to flash with sp flash tool but after flashing it is not charging and couldnt be powered on. i have held the power button for more than 20 secs

are you able to go to VCOM mode?
you have to go to VCOM mode in the MTK device to use the SP Flash Tool.
1. Install Vcom drivers from internet.
2. Phone will get detected. Then the SP Flash Tool will Run
Hope it helps.

I has scatter file from en. Miui /a-234 with codename nikel, I used spf tool the latest version.
Otherwise, my phone can not detected in my pc, neither unknown device or Vcom statuse. How should I do again? With test point or DFC can work??
Really my phone is Deep Death, before DD I flashed with snap dragon rom, result is DD

Have patience, it should not be problem.
Is your battery removable?
If yes, take it out. Unplug usb.
Plug usb again with battery out. Press -vol to detect vcom driver.
Most important , adb driver or usb debugging mode should not be enabled. Otheewise the vcom drivers will not install.
Once vcom mode works. SPFT will work on its own.
Hope it helps.
