I'm wondering if there are any other ways to domestic unlock a Sprint Galaxy S8+ beyond going through Sprint?
I know there are sites like theunlockr but I've looked at like 8 of these type of sites and I believe they are international unlocking or just don't support CDMA unlocking at all.
I'm sure after some time, idone & others will figure out the DSU. Root may be required first, though.

But do these methods domestic unlock so you can use it on AT&T and Sprint? My understanding is that there is international and domestic unlocking and international unlock would make it so you can't use it in the us.

If there is a root method available I can do remote unlocks on them , shoot me a pm
So, the cat's out of the bag. I've personally unlocked 3 s8 and s8+ phones since yesterday.
I can post the links to the files needed, but i don't know if that is allowed or not.
Its pretty easy to do, but you would have issues with battery drain and some instability unless you flash the stock odin files again.
Unlock will persist, however.
how to make the unlock clean
Hello. I've unlocked my S8+ from Sprint. G955U. I am in Europe and Now I can make GSM calls and etc. But The system tries to make settings for Sprint, then it sends me system message as Sprint OMADM "Configuration not completed". It doesn't disturb me but I don't want it be shown. How can I remove it? Can anyone help me?
Or mabe I can flash the phone with other firmware?
What firmare can be used for G955U to make it international, i mean with many languages?
I am sim unlocked too, my question is when taking software updates will it effect the unlocking from what i read it shouldn't but i thought i would ask in the Sprint s8+ forum because thats what i have. i did the eng root method

I think performing a Profile Update undoes the DSU. At least that was the case for the GS7E.

Yes and yes. You will lose root and you will get locked. Unlock it the same way you unlocked it now....If you buy a unlock code from your service provider than it will be forevermore...

Try Settings -> About device -> Software update and switch off Auto update and then reboot. Might work though I'm not positive because the phone already knows there's an update now. Alternatively, install it!

As far as we know, no one's tried to flash the Developer Edition RUU onto a retail HTC One. We wouldn't recommend it.

This is a probably a good recommendation as far as I understand it anyway. Without super cid (which most current methods require s-off) this probably won't be of any use to att branded devices unfortunately
I can't believe the att base ruu hasn't popped up somewhere yet... It's almost crazy to me..
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2
Don't see what would really matter... The developer edition isnt different from the international or att. Just has more radio bands enabled and came with an unlocked boatloader/SIM and a different CID to identify it as the developer phone...
Flashing an RUU wont work, but flashing thru recovery the system and boot wouldn't brick the phone.

Well they effectively did nothing then haha. The 32GB unlocked already runs the exact same software as the dev edition (1.29.1540.3). Only difference is the unlocked bootloader, but that can be done from htcdev.com on the 32GB unlocked.

The S-OFF is the part that interests me.
If he's s-off and super cid then he'd be able to flash any ruu he wanted. There are usually a handful that accidentally come that way, and they usually pop up and are key to the rest of us getting it.. so hopefully he's sharing his system info with the correct people

Hmm, wonder if it shipped like that or if flashing this to his 32GB unlocked gave him S-OFF. US 32GB unlocked comes with S-ON.

This device can only be SIM unlocked by having it actively using it for 1 year (so basically you would have a 12 month plan with Total Wireless). After then, you can call customer support and you would get unlock codes to unlock your device.

I'm afraid that is impossible, Because the radio built into the phone can only tune to CDMA bands. It's simply impossible, without Switching out the radio, and that is pretty much impossible without turning the device into a paperweight due to incompatible device drivers. Sorry.
Feel free to correct any inaccurate info.

The unlocked version is bootloader unlockable (it's the one I have). Can't speak strictly about the other ones and not sure if the Verizon one is the Verizon model, which if it is probably can't be unlocked. But others can chime in more about the other two.

Think back to when our Pixel 2 XLs were our daily driver. We never recommended Verizon models simply because they couldn't be unlocked. The same applies here, with the only advantage the Verizon model having is mmWave 5G to go with the Sub-6 5G found in the unlocked.

Yes, I know you can't unlock the bootloaders on the Verizon models. I just wasn't absolutely sure if that particular one in the Google Store was actually a Verizon model, having always bought the unlocked ones.

Do you think it's now possible with dirty pipe in the wild? I read this morning that the exploit can bypass Samsung's something or other and attain root so what about the Verizon models all the way back to the P3 and above? From my limited knowledge of these things it seems at the very least temp root which might allow the OEM switch to be unlocked, flip it and unlock the bootloader. Wouldn't that be a kick in the ass to Verizon / Google.

Not really meant for you specifically. I know there were a few folks on the P5 forum trying their darndest to get temp root to allow the OEM switch to toggle. I just didn't think we needed a new thread for this. I'll try to find the guy trying. It might have been a bounty thread.

Nope. you can switch between U and U1 firmware but nothing really changes but if you try to flash other model firmware you either get an error or possibly brick the device. Samsung made sure the north American models wouldn't be able to be unlocked to be able to unlock the bootloader ever.
