Redmi note 4 lte support in usa - Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 Questions & Answers

If I buy a Redmi Note 4 in India, will it run LTE in USA? If yes, which carriers?

If you say India then that would probably mean the Redmi Note 4 or 4x. I am not sure so I will answer for both. The main difference between the two is the LTE band support anyway.
So what the 2 versions support:
RN4: 3(1800), 5(850), 40(2300)
RN4x: 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500)
Now in the US there are a lot of carriers so if you want to have a more general idea of which bands are in work in each case then you can check the list in wikipedia. I will list only the 4 major carriers.
AT&T: 2, 4, 5, 17
Verizon: 2, 4, 13
T-Mobile: 2, 4, 12
Sprint: 25, 26, 41
Short answer is more or less no, no LTE in the USA.
HOWEVER, if you don't mind tinkering a bit then you can actually unlock bands for your chip. Just google "unlock lte bands qualcomm" (sorry I am not providing links, cannot do so yet). Be careful and read a bit before trying the methodology though because you can cause permanent issues to the phone.

So this means that it *might* work on AT&T, right?
And I meant RN4. Thanks!

Sorry didn't color that.
Your possibility, with RN4, is AT&T because of that 5 band. Problem is you cannot know if all areas are covered by that band. But yeah, AT&T takes a "might".

Get the Redmi Note 4 Global Edition (Yes this is another variant of the 4X from what I can see, confusing, I know). It supports the same as the Redmi Note 4x, except it also supports Band 4 and Band 20, which will work on most major carriers in the US.

+1 from me. Just found that the "Global Version" (go figure at this point with versions!!!) actually supports B1, B3, B4, B5, B7, B8, B20, B38, B40. So if you manage to get your hands on one of those then you will have no issues!

[Q] The EXACT bands of Nexus 9 LTE

I searched many times of websites on the lte bands of nexus 9 lte, but no, I've not got an exact spec of the lte bands that Nexus 9 LTE supports.
Until now I've got details of it from ht##tp://ww##w.bh##photovideo.c##om/c/product/1087410-REG/htc_99hzj002_00_nexus_9_volantis_32gb.html which the bands are
2.5G (EDGE, GSM/GPRS) MHz:850, 900, 1800, 1900
3.5G (HSPA+, UMTS/WCDMA) MHz:850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100
3.5G (CDMA2000, EV-DO) MHz:850, 1900
4G (LTE) Bands:1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 17, 19, 25, 26, 41

Now I'm sure whether this is right, are they the exact bands of Nexus 9 LTE?
I've got a Nexus 9 LTE from US to China, all three carriers have deployed either TDD-LTE or FDD-LTE, so I'm wondering whether I can use the LTE network with Nexus 9 LTE in China.
According to the specs above, it seems that it would work at TDD-LTE band 41 which China Mobile supplies, but I only got an EDGE with the 4G-SIM card inserted.
However China Unicom gives FDD-LTE band 3 network and China Telecom gives FDD-LTE band 1 network. Only lack of experiments.
The supported bands might be different depending on where the device is bought.
From the HTC site: http://www.htc.com/us/tablets/nexus-9/
Network (see note below)
2G/2.5G - GSM/GPRS/EDGE:
850/900/1800/1900 MHz
3G - WCDMA:
850/900/AWS/1900/2100 MHz with HSPA+ up to 42 Mbps
4G - LTE:
Bands 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,20
NOTE: Network bands in regions may be different, depending on the mobile operator and your location. 4G LTE only available in select countries. Upload and download speeds also depend on the mobile operator.
Built-in memory and connectivity vary by model. Wi-Fi only Nexus 9 features 16GB memory, and LTE Nexus 9 model features 32GB. Please see your local carrier for complete details.
data point for you: i have t-mobile spec nexus 9 bought in us. in hong kong a csl sim shows lte data status. speedtest showed 20mbit up and 20mbit down so i think its working fine. csl web site said bands 3 and 7 iirc.
csl web site: https://www.hkcsl.com/en/index.html
I actually clicked more than one website to bring you this info.

Looks like it's back in stock at store.htc.com for $359 for the LTE.
http://store.htc.com/store?Action=C...104_G - US - NAM - HTC - PS - Tablet - B&Ps=1
So from my Internet searching, here are the differences between the Nexus 9 LTE International vs. the USA device.
Nexus 9 Part# 0P82200 (EU/ASIA) handles LTE bands 1,2,3 ,4,5,7,8, 20
Nexus 9 Part# 0P82300 (US) handlesLTE bands 2, 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 17, 25, 26, 41
What does this mean to us in the USA?
It means that if you buy the USA Nexus 9 then you're good to go for all USA major carriers.
But if you buy the International Nexus 9, then you're hurting yourself as follows:
Verizon missing band 13 (which it uses for most of its LTE).
AT&T missing band 17.
T-Mobile missing band 12.
Sprint missing all LTE bands.
US Cellular missing band 12.
Here is a list of what USA carriers use which bands:
http://www.droid-life.com/2015/02/0...sm-cdma-wcdma-lte-verizon-att-sprint-tmobile/
Oddly enough, the HTC USA website indicates that the Nexus 9 LTE it sells is capable of only the International bands listed above.
So I called HTC @ 866 449 8358 on 12/26/2015 @ 12:30PM CST and spoke with "Daniel" who advised that if I'm in the USA and purchase from the USA HTC website, then I will be shipped the USA version of this tablet.

[Q] Intl vs ATT version?

I live in the California AT&T service area. I have been trying to find out the 4G and LTE bands on the intl and ATT Versions. If I buy the intl version will it be compatible with AT&T LTE bands? Ideally I would like to buy the intl version so that I can get the OS updates when Samsung releases them without waiting the extra time for AT&T to release the upgrade. I also dont want the AT&T bloatware.

International variant, as long as it supports the LTE bands. I even converted my M8 into Developer Edition because I disliked the bloatware from AT&T and because OTAS take soooo long to appear with AT&T branded devices.
Does anyone know if the intl version supports att lte?
Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
I'm thinking about doing the same thing and buying the international variant. I have a Moto X Pure Edition, and I love not having carrier bloatware.
Sent from my ATRIX HD using XDA Free mobile app
Does anyone know whether the radios for AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and international version are different, such as with the LG G3? Normally gsmarena has info on the frequencies, but nothing is on there yet. Thanks
The unlocked international version supports the following AT&T LTE frequency/bands:
850/5
1900/2
The following are all of AT&T frequency/bands:
700/12,17
850/5
1700,2100/4
1900/2
I do not know if the model specific and locked to ATT supports all of their bands or remains identical to the international unlocked version. I do know different bands can be activated via firm ware update, like Moto did with the 2nd gen Moto X. The pure edition got updated to support all of ATT bands instead of just a couple.
From the T-mobile website for the Galaxy S6 Edge:
Quad Band GSM;
LTE: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 17;
UMTS: Band I (2100), Band II (1900), Band IV (1700/2100), Band V (850), Band VIII (900)
From the AT&T site for the Galaxy S6 Edge:
4G-LTE Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 20, 29 and 30
3G - UMTS 850/1900/2100MHz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900MHz
So the AT&T version seems to cover more bases in terms of LTE coverage e.g. for those wanting LTE coverage in the UK too, the T-mobile version will work on 3 (3) and EE (3 and 7), whereas the AT&T version will work on 3 (3), EE (3 and 7), O2 (20) and Vodafone (20) [LTE bands shown in brackets]

You can buy from
http://www.expansys-usa.com/
The International Unlocked version is a UK version that is Sim Unlocked and not attached to any carrier (no bloat and no carrier branding). You can't buy a US version unlocked anywhere in the US. Even the stores in the US that sell unlocked International versions are selling the UK one.

I just called an ATT tech and he told me that while I could get the UK/intl version IT WILL BE COMPATIBLE WITH ATT LTE. BUT since not all the bands are supported the intl version will have limited LTE coverage in the US.
For example the intl version only supports 2 of the 4 bands in the US. (Bands 2 and 5, when bands 2, 4, 5, 17 are available). So if the towers near your house are only using bands 2 and 4 you'll get less coverage/signal as if the towers near your house supported more bands.
What? T-Mobile version doesn't support band 12 LTE?

Hmmm... That's interesting because looking at the "Tech Specs" section for the Galaxy S6, as listed for ordering directly from Samsung in the UK, the Galaxy S6 appears to have support for all of the LTE and UMTS bands that are used by AT&T, here in the States:
http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/mobile-devices/smartphones/android/SM-G920FZKABTU
This info is listed on the above link for the Galaxy S6 (model SM-G920F), but (oddly) not for the Edge (SM-G925F) model. It shows the following bands as being supported:
2G GSM
GSM850, GSM900, DCS1800, PCS1900
3G UMTS
B1(2100), B2(1900), B5(850), B8(900)
4G FDD LTE
B1(2100), B2(1900), B3(1800), B4(AWS), B5(850), B7(2600), B8(900), B12(700), B17(700), B18(800), B19(800), B20(800), B26(800)
Unless there's something different about these bands due to the preceding "B" designation before the band number, it looks like the UK version should support LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 17, which is what AT&T are supposed to be using here in the States...
Not sure why Samsung doesn't list the "Tech Specs" on this site for the Edge model, but I would presume and hope they are identical to the Galaxy S6 SM-G920F model they list on their UK site.
Anyone have further details or insight into this? Hopefully I'm not misreading something and spreading erroneous info here!

That doesn't sound right based on what I've read. This page says what AT&T uses:
"AT&T 4G HSPA and HSPA+ use 850Mhz(Band 5) and 1900Mhz(Band 2) bands but it all depends on area if they own a license. LTE uses Band 17(700Mhz), Band 5(850Mhz), Band 2(1900Mhz), Band 4(1700/2100Mhz) currently"
Then according to this page the SM-G920F version in the UK does support LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 17. This page (pdadb.net) here seems to show that the SM-G920I also supports those LTE bands. Then in comments on Android Central this page gravage says he owns a G920I and it works without a hitch.
Thoughts? I'm looking into getting the international version as well so I can avoid AT&T's crap.

Correct version for Canada?

Hey everyone,
I'm looking at getting this phone (currently using a LG G4) and I wanted to make sure this is the correct version for Canada:

There are just so many different versions of this and so many sites list different bands for LTE. I'm looking to unlock this and flash Lineage OS... just making sure I'm buying the correct version!
Any help is appreciated.

4G bands LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500)
Then the Redmi Note 4X, which is the same as above, but with a Qualcomm processor.

4G bands LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500)
Then there's a third variant, Redmi Note 4 with qualcomm processor and limited bands for sale in countries like India. Don't buy this if you're gonna use it in Canada.

4G bands LTE band 3(1800), 5(850), 40(2300)

Does Redmi Note 4 SD work in US?

I would like to know if Redmi Note 4 can be used with US carriers? I am moving there and was planning to buy a phone
Redmi Note 4 Supported Bands:
2G bands GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900 - SIM 1 & SIM 2
3G bands HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100
4G bands LTE band 3(1800), 5(850), 40(2300)
US Supported Bands:
2G capabilities GSM 850, GSM 1900
3G capabilities UMTS 850, UMTS 1900, UMTS 1700, UMTS 2100
4G capabilities LTE 700, LTE 800, LTE 1700, LTE 1900, LTE 2100, LTE WCS 2300 (30), LTE 2500
Doesn't look like it but I wanted to know, since some users have claimed that they are able to use 3G despite the band being unsupported.
Get the ZTE Axon 7, Supports USA bands. I wish I did. To answer the original question. The note 4x works on at&t in the US, only one band. Band 5, sucks. So its not as fast as it could go but it at least works slow.

Where did you buy it?
Is the LTE just as good as any other phone or is it ****tier in some way?
I don't understand why more people don't use them here if they work just as good, since it's clearly the best phone out there under 200 bucks, as far as I can tell.
I ordered a global version, but I still don't have any confidence that it's gonna work based on what little information I can find on the internet.
I'm on T-mobile US, using a Redmi Note 4 Global, and I've had no issues with it. Good LTE speeds, but I can't get VoLTE to work though.
Screenshot of my speeds here: http://imgur.com/h7So6Sj
yeah, I've been looking at apps like LTE Discovery the last couple days, and it looks like there's plenty of Band 4 in town where I'm at, so I guess that's good. Usually the places I go when I go out of town have no lte anyway so I doubt I'll be missing much.
I don't mind not having VoLTE since I use like 10 minutes of voice calls a month and I don't think my current phone uses it anyway.

you're right, it should work on AT&T, only the LTE band 30 is missing here but it'll work and that's pretty much it if someone tries to use it on other carriers, like Tmo etc...

Haven't set up yet. Just waiting for case and rooting. Don't want to start over after root and format data.
Didn't even think about eBay, thanks for the tip @cline2. Just ordered a S10e exynos from another seller for $697. Paid for the next day shipping and should have it Thurs.
Got my S10e G970F/DS, in the US today, currently working well on Mint Mobile, excited for rooting!

The SM-G975F/DS is factory unlocked but it looks like it has limited LTE bands to be used on US carriers w/o problems.
The Exynos SM-975N is the one you need to have a global range.

Where do you see the LTE Band coverage? I've clicked on that link and there's no information on LTE Bands.. might be because I'm viewing it on mobile. Are you stating that the G975 F/DS does not support band 12/66 like every eBay seller claims it does?

it's all there
https://www.techwalls.com/samsung-galaxy-s10-model-number-sm-g970-g973-g975-g977-differences/
and when you open that link you'll see 3 more links for 10e, 10 and 10+ with listed model variations/ltebands,etc...
G975F/Ds :
SM-G975F/DS (Dual-SIM Unlocked) Exynos 9820 Asia (India, Singapore)
2G GSM: 850/900/1800/1900
3G UMTS: 850/900/1700/1900/2100

Exynos 'N' has 12 , then all UK exynos models have 12 and 66 but aren't listed as F/DS but rather as "hybrid sim" F only, I guess that counts as a DS but isn't specified that way.

Damn, I'd be curious to see how this information was amassed.. either way, I'm hoping that the Exynos version that I'm getting is the UK version.. it's coming from a seller in Miami so I'm gonna say it's not lol - most likely from South East Asia.
