I have a Kate model, running the latest nightly of lineage OS and my phone keeps losing root, with magisk or SuperSU, it always ends up losing it. Wat do?

What do you mean by losing root? I think you have the same "issue" like everyone, after every update of LineageOS you have to install addonSU package, it is prepared from LineageOS devs.

I've been flashing the SU or Magisk binaries, but I guess I can try with the one's provided by LOS, I'll report back in a few hours if it doesn't work
Bro try this steps
1 reboot to recovery
2 flash magisk zip
3 disable magisk busybox in settings
4 reboot
If you want busybox try the one on this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/collection-magisk-modules-t3445257
Using the binaries provided by lineage OS seems to be working, I'm not a fan of their root manager but I'm not complaining. The only thing that annoyed me was the pound sign on the notification, but I found a way to disable it.

Hey guys, I want to switch to LOS14.1 by TheStrix, because it is now stable and bug-free.
There are some other things i want to flash too, so I just wanted to clear things up a bit.
I want to flash radon kernel, Arise sound mod, and magisk, because apparently magisk will allow me to use banking apps.
From referring to other people on the forum, i have the following:
1)Flash CM14 Firmware
2)Flash ROM
3)Flash GAPPS
4)Flash Radon Kernel
5)Reboot and setup phone
6)Flash magisk
7)Enable hide root
8)Flash Arise sound mod with arise magisk compatibility module.
So I have some questions regarding this procedure.
Do I have to flash supersu before flashing Magisk?
Is it worth it to switch data and cache to F2FS?
Do I need to switch recoveries to do this?
Is this the right order to flash the ROM and accompanying zips?
I am using the snapdragon redmi note 3 with fpc fingerprint sensor.
I have an officially unlocked bootloader.
I am currently on RR_MM official.
I would test it out myself, but i'm in college, so i don't really have time to do that.
If anyone would share their experiences or give me some pointers, it would be much appreciated.
No you must switch to RR n

Why is it a must to switch to rr n over los?
I actually don't really mind using either ROM, but I wanted to test out LOS for a while.
No its laggy too much
what i just did in the beginning was to wipe everything except the external sd card.
i would suggest to run the rom the rom first time without new kernel. i just updated my RR Nougat to todays release and wanted to flash radon just ahead, had some errors in recovery doing so. did a reboot, new rom was there but no radon. again flashing within recovery and no problems. with arise i have no clue, i dont use it
Quote from the Radon kernel v4.3 changelog, applicable to your step 4, 5 and 6.

If your rom uses magisk root, then don't flash radon immediately after rom, first boot to system once.

Hello. Has anyone got Magisk to work? I've installed Magisk in recovery, downloaded Magisk manager, removed su completely. Also turned off debugging, But get safety net fail (cts profile mismatch).
So just wondering if anyone else has it working with z4 Tablet?

I am also trying to get Magisk to work. After flashing Magisk 12.0 it will boot and let me log in with pin code, but after about 10 seconds it will reboot itself. So you have Magisk 12 working without this reboot loop?
Yes it seems to work. No bootloops,
But as mentioned I can't pass safteynet, I guess it's not compitable with the Z4 tab.
Flashed latest version in recovery and downloaded Magisk manager from playstore.
Even 13.3 and some beta works:they install well, but no root...
Is anyone using Magisk on a stock ROM? The latest Magisk version I have got working is 12. Every version after 12 just gives me a bootloop. Has anyone come up with a solution for this?
Thanks!

Didn't make any modifications. Don't have magisk installed anymore.
Support for this amazing tablet is not so good anymore, so I'm thinking of selling it ?

I have tried with clean stock boot.img.
Tried modfied kernel using ta_poc.
tried modified kernel using rootkernel tool. And it works with rootkernel saying yes to all modifications, but the touchscreen is not working....
I am trying to get magisk working on stock .154, the latest one.
Can you remember what stock version you got magisk working?
thanks in advance
FWIW: I have the latest LineageOS on my pollux_windy.
Magisk 16 works fine.
SafetyNet test:
ctsProfile false (I do not bother but have ideas how to fix it)
basicIntegrity true

I´ll never got stock firmware working with magisk.

After that i flashed supersu.
That is the only way i got stock rooted.
I am using lineage os and that work with magisk.

Thanks for the info. I'm tempted to switch to LineageOS but for the battery drain when using WiFi. Is it still bad for you? It was fine for DHGE.
I am not sure to be honest what causes the heating.....
I have removed som apps.... And it is a little bit better, i think that macrodroid has caused some heating.
I still think that stock has less battery consumption when tablet is used.
But stock is much more battery consuming compaired to los when not in use.....
I love los, it is fast.
So maybe you should give it a go and see if you have the same experience as i have.

So, I have the same experience. Battery drain when in use is significantly higher that the stock ROM I was running: 32.2.A.0.305 (Android 6). That was the best one; the 32.4.A.1.54 Android 7 build was a big step back battery wise from what I've heard.
On topic: Magisk is running great on LineageOS, of course.
I have magisk installed on stock 32.4.A.1.54.
I prepared tk kernel using tapoc. After taht i disbaled RIC using rootkernel tool .
And i finally flashed this magisk.zip
https://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/patched-magisk-v12-sony-devices-t3582331
And updated magisk.
Kind Regards

Thanks .. rooting with Magisk worked!
Been a user of CM and then Lineage for years.
Unfortunately the lineageOS in Oreo we have at the moment are not quite working entirely.
Are there any long established roms, on Oreo, that work 100% and receive updates?
the only other I've tried is Nitrogen, where I had issues with an encryption error (where I wasn't encrypting) and not sure was getting updates at that stage..

Official LOS is not updated anymore with fixes.
Use oficial Aosp extended rom. It has official inbuild updater like Los. its very customizable and best rated rom.
Flash latest twrp 3.2.3
First Format data
Then. Wipe data reset
Flash Aex rom 5.8
Flash latest august open gapps nano
Reboot

Give Omnirom a try. May not be the most feature rich, but its one of the most stable ROMs that I've tried. Updated regularly as well.

You can use Mokee, only issue Xposed pre installed and not systemless. Hence won't pass safetynet even if you use Xposed uninstaller

You should check laggyness without magisk.
Hello. I have already asked on Reddit and Quota but I have not received an answer. I have the original global MIUI 10.3.8 with official TWRP and root by Magisk. I received a notification on the device that an update to MIUI 11 is available. As for root, I didn't make any changes to the system. I only gave Administrator permissions for four applications. What do I have to do to install the official MIUI 11 update?
Just download the .zip of MiUI 11 and flash as usual. Dirty flash works, don't need to wipe anything. Magisk 20.0 is working, no Disable Force Encryption needed. I tested with the miui.eu ROM...

For upgrade no, you don't. Make sure you have the latest TWRP (3.3.0.0 or 3.2.3.2) as some people are having issues. I didn't tested on official Global zip, only with the miui.eu variant

TWRP will stay? After uploading the rom do not restart the device and do a TWRP flash? I have 3.3.0.0. Another thing is that I use global ROM.

Do you have experience on flashing custom roms on TWRP?! Maybe you should do some reading first...
But it's just a matter of download the miui.eu version of MIUI 11 at https://sourceforge.net/projects/xi...files/xiaomi.eu/MIUI-STABLE-RELEASES/MIUIv11/ and than install via TWRP. You'll need to download the Magisk TWRP Zip and install it as well.
