backup apk only with titanium backup? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i dont find the option to only backup apks without including data? i only want my apks to be backed up without including any data
cheera

When you choose to restore with the batch option, then you can choose to restore app only. You also have an option to clear user data under the batch Manipulate option.

I need to backup apk only in batch actions...
Tried using the option "backup app external data"
Then chosed "enabled for apps within a chosen label"
Then I chosed a label
And it keeps backing up data for ALL apps

If you try to backup an application and then remove the .tar.gz file, it will not be detected again.
So, only way is gunzipping first, deleting files using tar, and then gzipping again.
Remember to keep the folder "data/data/./app.package.name", because it is created on application install.
If you delete it and then restore using titaniumbackup, your application will not work.
Good luck

[Q] Titanim backup - how to resore an app from .TiBkp

I've created a backup called "app +data (easy import)".
Now I can't find any option to restore an app from this backup.
Not from dropbox nor from a titanium backup folder.
Titanium does not see this file and says there is no backup for that app.
So how to restore an app from this kind of backup??
Try clicking on the backup file either in Dropbox or the local file system and running it. Titanium Backup will then ask if you want to restore the app and or data. I know I saved my backup in Gmail, and after downloading, I just press view in Gmail itself and TiBackup will show that dialog.
Sent from my HSPA+ Nexus Prime using Tapatalk 2
it was enough to update to the nevest verssion.
Now I have a bigger problem.
It does not restore any data of system apps.
Not Go Launcher, nor Go sms, or rom settings are being restored.
I've tried to flash the rom again an then restore - no result.
How to force titanium to restore system apps data?
ps. I was able to do it before. It's just stopped working.
Hi I am having similar problems, backed up using easy backup apk & data, sent via gmail to my other phone with Titanium backup on it, when I open it TB recognises it and says please wait, but nothing happens the app does not install. It is only a widget that I want installed but its not having it :crying:
Also I have a tf101 which is not rooted is there anyway I can unzip without TB to use this free widget as its not on the general market, I have a paid version of TB and using the latest release, but obviously not on the tf101.
Any help appreciated as it is frustrating I cannot save apks to other phones.
Thanks

I never found the correct answer to this question, which - from my experience - is a rather improbable one. This is the answer:
Find your TiBkp file with some kind of file explorer. In my case: I used "root explorer", probably any other one will do as well. Tap on it.
You will see: "No activity found to open this file."
Your options are
a) cancel
b) open as.
Choose "open as".
Now you get a lot of options (I see seven). One of them is: APK file. Choose it.
Now you may select an "option for null" (probably the null refers to the unknown file extension TiBkp) .
The options are: cancel, view and Install.
Choose install.
Now you get the option from Titanium backup to restore your files. And that works perfectly.....
Cheers :victory:
Hello, i Know this thread is old, but i seem to have run into the same problem. My tibkp file is grayed out and i can't access it. and when i navigate to it and try to open it, it won't give an option to open it with Titanium. Help please. Thank you
PS I have a rooted S7 Edge. Thank you
Hm.. I'm having a similar issue: I can't import .TiBKP files anymore; two devices, S6 Edge running SuperSU-rooted nougat, and Tab S2 running magiskSU-rooted nougat (in both cases the nougat itself is from samsung)
Hello im having troubles backing up an app.
Whenever i back up i get three files (.apk .tar and one PROPERTIES) instead of the .TiBkp. I cant restore said files.
Help please.
New phone, Old problem. Trying to use .TiBKP files to migrate apps&settings from my old phone to my new one, rather than just simply copy everything using smart switch, but opening them in Titanium Backup is NOT an option for .TiBKP files.
Any hints?

[Q] Corrupted Titanium Backup. How can I restore my apps?

I just flashed a new ROM on my phone but when I tried to restore my apps with Titanium, only 1 app is showing. A few days ago I had also made a copy of the Titanium Backup folder in my computer but I don't know how to (if) I can restore my apps with only the folder.
Any help?
Did you get some kind of error message? Did you reboot? Maybe the apps are there but just not showing up in your app drawer?
To use the backup on your computer just copy the data back on to your phone then restore them. Since the backup on your phone is bad I would delete everything in the backup folder then copy the data from the backup folder on your computer into the same directory so you don't need to change the backup folder settings in TiBU.
Hi. I did try that. I tried using both folders from my phone, but even though they're both the same size (about 1GB), only one app was restore. And even the data for that app wasn't. I tried using Restore>Restore apps+data. So I wanted to know if there was another way.

Instead of doing a batch restore try to manually restore an individual app and see if that works.
Check your titanium backup location. It probably changed after the rom install.

Tiatanium Backup issue

I have TiBu Pro installed, and I have my user apps Backup saved to my extSdCard.
After installing the ROM, and then TiBu, the number (58) of User apps are showing in the Batch actions - ALL seen under:
Verify all your backups,
Recovery mode,
Delete backups
But they are Not showing under 'Restore missing apps with data.'
How to I direct TiBu to Restore the User apps from the extSdCard?
The Backup folder in TiBu is showing:
/storage/extSdCard/TitaniumBackup
and my User apps are there.
Thanks
Does the folder name on the ext sd card have to be a specific format?
I'm holding off on using My Backup Pro to Restore
Update:
I got the user apps to appear. I'm not sure how, but this time I was asked if I want to install the previous ID, which I did. I'm not sure if I was prompted previously.
In addition, in Preferences, I couldn't use Hypershell, as the apps wouldn't install. I had to choose Interactive for the apps to install, and give Permission to each app individually, but at least I got them to install.
Auto: Indirect
Auto: Direct
Wouldn't install,
But choosing:
Interactive
did install the apps.

Manually restoring apps from CWM backup

I've been testing some custom ROMs for my Sero 7 Pro but have to go back to stock for various reasons. That's not a problem but I want to avoid having to manually install all the apps for the umpteenth time.
I tried a custom restore from Recovery of just the data partition but then the tablet couldn't boot, so that backup must have been made with the custom ROM installed and something is therefore incompatible with stock.
Nandroid Manager doesn't work for me, as it force closes whichever option I select under Restore Apps+Data, whichever backup I choose from the largest 1.46GB down to the 252MB one.
Yaffs Explorer won't work for me either, as it says my CWM tars are in the wrong format.
I've got a Titanium Backup of the apps but using the Batch Action "Restore missing apps with data" requires me to answer the install prompts for each app as if I was installing it normally and that's obviously a pain when there's a lot of apps to reinstall, as it can't be left unattended to get on with it.
So I was wondering if I could just open the data.ext4.tar in 7zip on my PC, extract the app, app-lib and data folders and then copy them to the tablet via USB and then move them into / with ES File Explorer (/ isn't visible from my PC so I can't copy them directly there)? I'm not sure if any of the other numerous folders might need to be copied also but app-asec and app-private are both empty in the tar and everything else doesn't seem to be app related, more like system files. I'm also confused as I thought a lot of app data went in /sdcard/Android but that folder is nowhere to be seen in the tar.

help with Titanium Backup?

hello! I've been using titanium backup all this while, whenever I flash a new ROM, but I recently did a batch backup of all the apps+system apps with their data (total size around 1.5gb) and then after flashing the ROM I open titanium backup to restore it, and It recognizes none of them!
please note that,
I have all my backups in the backup location, there are no permission issues as I can create new folders while making backup, I tried clearing data, uninstalling, installing a different one...
PS: I tried making another backup of an app in the new ROM and when I try to restore the backups it shows only 1 backup found where as the folder has 1.5gb of older backups which are not being recognized?
Open the Preferences and search for the backup folder location. Also, don't restore system apps / data. Typically a bad idea.
doesn't work... it just shows 0 backups found...
I've had this happen once or twice before, I believe this is what I did:
Go to preferences, then backup folder location.
Click the line of text that talks about file system.
Select document provider.
Click the menu button and click show internal storage.
Navigate to the PARENT folder of your Titanium folder, not the Titanium folder itself. Select it...it will then say you have permission to view it and go back to the familair TiBU folder selection screen.
Then select your Titanium folder. Press back to reload then proceed as usual.
don't you try to root it again?? or did you try to check it again in your storage, if the file is missing?
The root access works just fine... And I have 3 files for each backup ( 2 compressed files and 1 text)
