I want to use my first sim for 3g texting and calls and 4g texting and calls (something a few operators in the uk are doing now).
I want to use my second sim for 3g data and 4g data for google maps, browsing and whatsapp (4g coverage isnt amazing in the uk)
I still want to use the first sim for 3g and 4g data but only when I can't get signal with the second sim, but I want it to signify it's doing so or to ask for permission.
I still want to receive calls and texts on the second sim using either the 3g or 4g network, depending on what is in range. I still want to make calls and send texts from the second sim, but only to contacts who are saved under that particular sim, and not very often.
If someone is saved under the contact of sim 1 or 2, I don't want it to message or calls them from the other sim without consent.
When i'm browsing I still want to be able to receive calls and texts on either sim, interrupting the browsing if necessary.
Is this something I'll be able to do easily without having to constantly switch the settings of the sim cards or the settings of the phone?
The thing if I've ordered one but I haven't opened it yet. I was hoping to make sure that it works the way I was hoping it works before opening it, or if I should just return it.

Trying to use my new Poco.
I have a dual sim set up, both sims are switched on. But I fail to send SMS messages (But I can receive them)
Also I can't get any cellular data.
Do I have to activate something?
My sims work fine in my old phone.
Please help other wise this phone is useless as it is.
Try different sims on your Poco. If they work, it's your sim cards otherwise RMA your phone.
Copy the access point name APN from your old phone. You will find it under network settings / data or similar. The APN will probably include the name of your service provider. Then transfer to your new phone.
Thanks
My sim card wasn't that old, but I tried a new one and it's fine now
I have dual sim phone - SIM1 personal with calls/data and SIM2 for work with calls/data. The phone forces me to define one of the two SIM cards as default for data (aka browse the web). The problem is that if I define SIM1 as default data card, if I receive or make a call from SIM1 I can browse the web using data during the call, but if I make or receive a call with SIM2, during the call I can't browse the web (because it is dual standby). In settings menu I tried to change the default data SIM card during the call to SIM2 to continue browsing the web during the call with SIM2, but the phone tells me that" Can't change the default data card during the call". The problem is the same if I define the default data card to SIM2, so during a call with SIM1 I can't browse the web. So, resuming, the annoying thing is that I have a dual SIM phone and I have 2 SIM card both with calls and data plan, the phone forces me to define one of them as default to data, but during a call with the SIM that is not defined as default data card I can't use the web. If at least I could change, in settings menu, the default data SIM during the call it will solve my problem but the phone doesn't allow me to do that during the call. This is ridiculous!! The only chance is, if I need to access the internet during the call, to say "I will shut down this call to swipe my default SIM card to access the internet so I can talk to you while I can browse the web and read the email that you are refering to and call you again", this all in 2019, simply ridiculous.
Anyone can help me? I tried in some phones of some of my friends and it always happens the same (I tried in Asus Zenfone 3, Samsung S9, Xiaomi Mi9T). Please if anyone can help me because this behaviour makes no sense and makes dual sim completely useless nowadays.
Just what the title says. My phone tells callers that I'm not accepting calls and when I attempt to make calls it simply refuses to do so or displayed a "call ended" message without ever dialing the other person. Everything else works fine and I can even make voice calls if I use duo mode instead of mobile. I can also receive calls if the caller uses duo mode.
Have been through everything except an actual reset. Unable to do that since the phone was a hand-me-down and I don't know the PIN. I've about reached the point where I do a hard reset manually but I hate to lose my data. Does anyone have anything I could try to either bypass or recover the PIN or something I could use to get mobile mode to work again?
Your sure you have service? If you do, do you have credit? Both of those would prevent you making calls. You can still use Duo if your on WiFi or you have a data only service. If you are showing that your connected to the network and you are certain you have minutes in your plan or credit available then you will need to call your network provider so they can see if there's any network issues preventing your calls. Check the network operators status page to see if there's issues in your area.

It appears that when using a Galaxy S9+ with ATT service the phone is unable to do VoLTE
The way that I was able to have internet on the phone and voice calling was to go into the APN and set the Network Mode to 3G/2G (auto connect)
That fixed it for me. Still pissed off that I can't use LTE but oh well it will work until I upgrade the phone.

Hello, I have an unlocked s9 that is going through a similar issue in not being able to make or receive calls. Can you let me know how you got the APN settings for 3G/2G? Going to APN settings I only see the nxgenphone setting open and active, which I heard was for LTE.
Also, can you let me know what setting it has to be in the 4636 mobile network settings in order to restore data? Thanks
Hello all!
I have a Samsung A01 (SM-a015AZ) unlocked from Cricket, being used in Pakistan. Internet over LTE works perfectly, however the phone does not support VolTE and so it is only possible to send sms or call over 2g/3g. There's no problem when making a call as the phone automatically drops from LTE to 3g, however that does not happen when someone else tries to call me. The phone does not drop from LTE, nor do I even get any missed calls/sms notifications, but to the person calling me it seems like my phone is unreachable.
There are 3 options present in the preferred network mode (LTE, 3g, 2g) If I set it to 3g, all calls work fine, but with really really bad internet (EDGE). I have even tried to see if any settings in the advanced network configuration menu (By dialing *#*#4636#*#*) would make a difference, however I've had no luck so far. I would really appreciate it if someone can help me with this.
tl;dr Samsung A01 drops from LTE to 3g to make calls, however does not drop when someone else is calling and so does not receive any calls.
Hi all,
I'm gonna buy an e-Sim, never had one before.
Wondering if, while waiting for my phone number to be moved to the new company E-Sim, if I can set voice calls to Sim and mobile data internet to E-Sim.
Thanks!
Your knowledge about esims is totally wrong they are not what u think about them esim is inbuilt in new smartphones which prevents the use of physical sim card and u can use multiple esims in one device like profiles they just need one time setup
Thanks for your answer.
I don't have knowledge about esims, and that's why I asked esperts.
In any case, I know about profile, multiple profiles (and one profile at a time use on certain devices), my question was a little bit different.
When I had a dual sim phone, I set the first sim for voice and messages and the second sim for mobile data. Second sim had a much better signal and many more Gb plan.
Now I have Pixel6, I have a phisical sim (and my phone numer on it)m and I'm going to buy an e-sim from a different operator. They'll give me unlimited GB, so I thouhgt, while waiting for the old phone number to be transfered on the new e-sim, to use the esim profile for mobile internet data only.
Basically: voice calls: sim 1 (physical sim)
messages: sim 1
Mobile internet data: sim2 (e-sim).
That's what I was asking, is it possible?
Yea everything is possible
U can do it
i am using a esim for voice and a sim for data.
and it pisses me off that i can not talk and surf at the same time.
for me the voice cannot be active and have the data in use at the same time
Is it activated

Strange, my wife is using a P6 with voice on e-SIM and data on physical SIM. So it's possible.
