I need help rooting my Samsung Galaxy S6
I have tried Kingo and it failed on both android and pc
My model number is M-G920F
My build number is MMB29K.G920FXXS5DQC1
My version is 6.0.1
CF Auto root might work but can't find info on that specific build. My preferred method is to install TWRP recovery and then use that to install SuperSU zip. This has to be done by PC using Odin. Plenty of guides around for it.
I'm trying to avoid manual rooting since I've never done it and don't want to brick my phone.
Unless theres any guides for my specific build
Does any SuperSU.zip work or do I need one specific for my build
Also I'm having trouble unlocking my boot loader.
There is no OEM unlock option on my phone.
Or any tutorials on how to do it

Managed to get my hands on a cheap second hand TabZ in good condition. And although Sony's Lollipop firmware looks and feels nice I really want to go the custom Rom road as it allows me to tinker more with it.
Now is when the situation gets complicated as it seems there is a plethora of versions, some more complicated then others, to root the device and install a recovery on it. My questions to you, anybody willing to clear these things out, are:
1. Does the bootloader need to be unlocked in order to obtain root for a tablet already running Lollipop? (I read in one thread that starting with Lollipop this might not be required anymore)
2. What is the best way of getting root?
3. How do you install recovery? I understand the XZDualRecovery to be really popular but some of the instructions can be mind boggling (the use of Kernel Builder to repack the kernel in order to replace the built in recovery with XZDualRecovery). Is this the same as flashing a recovery every time I install a new ROM before rebooting if I want to still have one (basically there is no permanent one, but changes with the rom you are flashing?! )
Any help would be much appreciated as I am stuck as I have never been with rooting and installing recovery on a device. Thanks!
1&2. Bootloader is not directly connected with Root. Unlocked bootloader allows you to install custom ROMs like FXP, cDroid, CyanogenMod and others.
For rooting stock Sony Rom rooting doesn't usually need bootloader unlock.
For example for 4.4.4 and 5.0.2 firmwares KingRoot will help you to root device. For other firmware, other tools exist.
3. For installing Custom Roms like FXP, CyanogenMod and others you need unlocked bootloader.
XZDualRecovery is mainly used for stock Sony Rom and based on stock roms.
For custom roms you can flash TWRP recovery to FOTA partition which will be permanent and will allow you to install any custom rom.
Also before bootloader unlock, get root and Backup TA partition of your device.
So, here I'm stuck with the z3v after my 6plus sold to my uncle. Running E.44 and the root method seem not working, I already install the king root and can't replace with the superSu, keep saying "fail to update, reboot"... and trying to degrade firmware and the flash tool keep said "can't reconize device, check the driver....." Saw topic with instruction to kkng root temperary and "dual recovery" what's the dual recovery is it?
Is it possible that verizon will open bootloader for z3v??
install kingoroot and then recovery and then install prerooted firmware through recovery
no need to unlock boot loader... it's direct method

Follow my guide as worded. You've done the first step in rooting it with Kingroot. Now you need to use the dual recovery installer to install the custom Android recovery, TWRP. Then you flash my prerooted Lollipop.
Hi community,
I stuck on rooting and/or installing a recovery on my new SPG611 after hours of reading and trying. I need a guidance with working downloads.
What I have:
SPG611
years of knowledge with HTC and Nexus - rooting, recovery, ...
fastboot, adb working
flasher used to flash ftf
unlocked bootloader
What doesnt work until now:
on 5.1.1 and 4.4.4 - towelroot, kingroot
booting TWRP 3.0.2 FOTA-kernel - stays on SONY-screen
I've also build a PRF but don't see a way to use it without recovery.
I don't find a ftf for 5.0.1 to try these things with it.
Tried so much things, I can't eliminate that I simply missed something.
Thanks
Stephan
I've done a lot of research about custom ROMs and recoveries on Samsung phones and I'm coming here to confirm what I've found.
There is no way for me to flash twrp on my Verizon SCH-I545 Galaxy S4 even though it's rooted and I have twrp manager installed.
Rashr says "partition flash successful" when I flash twrp recovery, but then when I when I reboot it says Odin error. So I'm guessing rashr cannot help me either.
I also can't make a nandroid backup because I can't flash twrp. And I can't use Android SDK Studio to unlock the bootloader because then it would brick my phone.
Is there any known reliable way of unlocking my S4? If not, I wouldn't be surprised.
Thanks in advance.
Unfortunately not. After the 4.2.2 MDK update, the bootloader was locked down and there was no longer a way to downgrade to that update or unlock the bootloader. So you'll see recent roms for it, but they are only for the people who managed to root and stop the official updates and updated manually instead.
Hey I just picked up this phone and decided I would like to maximize it to its fullest potential, and root it as I have done with previous phones. This ones giving me a hard time, and I just can't seem to find the proper info for it.
I have unlocked the bootloader, flashed TWRP 3.1.1 and want to gain root access. I have followed several guides, used every possible one-click unsuccessfully, and tried installing SuperSU with TWRP. After I reboot, SuperSU is installed. I'll open it up and it tells me the binaries are occupied. I've tried downgrading and updating the binaries but I get errors. (I believe this is because it must be rooted first - of course.)
So I'm stuck unable to get any further. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it. Is this phone with this configuration unrootable? There must be a way if I have recovery right?
Asus Zenfone 4 Z01KD/ZE554KL
Android Nougat 7.1.1 - 14.1060.1708.63 (NOT 1708.70)
TWRP 3.1.1 installed
One thing I have not tried is using Magisk. When I try it, it stops because I already patched with SuperSU (even though it failed). I never backed up before I did it with SuperSU I really thought it would work.
I read of people doing it with Magisk after updating to Oreo. I want to give that a try but I can't OTA or flash from TWRP. All attempts result in error 7.
I can't find a stock recovery to flash to do the update either. Is there a way to undo this, OTA and repatch with Magisk? Even if I don't bother updating, I would like to find a stock image to flash so I can try patching with Magisk.
Stock rom recovery.img anywhere? Am I alone?
i dont own this device but i read this and it might apply to you. also did you flash the supersu uninstaller and them try magisk?
