Hisense USB audio and Audio Evolution - Hisense Sero 7 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi Friends. OTG and audio recording works on my Hisense 7 but they don't charge while on OTG. I use Audio Evolution with my Sero 7 pro tablets. I installed the Dopa 4.4.4 on one and otg works and charges but the usb doesn't detect t the usb audio interface as it did before with the stock room. All cables and hardware have been tested to work well.
Any ideas as how to get working the Usb otg audio and charge simultaneously?
Thank you!
RL

With Nexus 10 + Focusrite Scarlett 2x4... Recording in Audio Evo requires the Tablet charges in addition to receiving data. Amazon has Inateck Model : HB3001G which has an OTG cable integrated with multiple USB ports + card reader. For less than $10. I also keep the Inateck charged with stand alone power supply that puts out 8000mA [Blackweb Model BWB15TA223]. This seems to record and charge simultaneously.

Usb no audio
Hi Jason :
Yes thank you. , I use the Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 and an Amazon card reader OTG that has power and works very well. The problem is that the original Rom of the Hisense does not allow charge via otg but audio works fine. Now with the new Rom otg with charge works when reading SD cards etc but it doesn't detect the Focusrite or any usb audio device. The problem is getting the Rom or os to use correctly the Focusrite. The driver works fine with the original Rom but no otg charge works.

Audio evolution on Hisense 7
Hi Jason :
Interesting, I just checked and I am using the same setup as you! The Inateck, the Blackweb 8000 and the Focusrite.
The Inateck is great because it does both otg and also SD and USB memory sticks. I got the last Blackweb at Walmart last year.
I like and use the Audio Evolution a lot. I have produced two CDs with it. I recorded this CD with Audio Evolution.
https://raymond-lohengrin.bandcamp.com/album/tomy-rodriguez-canta-canciones-de-alabanzas
I just have to keep an eye on the Tablet as the battery will last two hours while on OTG.
Thank you, Raymond

Funny to find you here. The setup is the same because you were the one who suggested I purchase it
I'm looking to get info from "others" so that when we meet I'm not an "imbecile". I would like to
get the Sero 7s working . I think it is really a question of software, while you insist it is hardware.
Will get with you soon again.

[Q] 11 Pin MHL + USB OTG

Hey there, i have tried gathering information about this subject and it seems all threads always lead to this announcement:
http://www.gottabemobile.com/2012/06/29/galaxy-s-iii-new-mhl-connector-also-enables-usb-on-go/
Short: Samsung have changed to an 11 Pin-out to enable USB OTG and MHL Hdmi out at the same time. I purchased an original HDTV Adapter (EPL-3FHUBEGSTD) which as far as i can reliably count indeed has about 11 connectors inside the USB connector that goes into the phone.
Now, i can get HDMI out just fine, but ONLY when i also connect the MHL adapter to a power source (a PC USB Port will do fine), however i have also read, that the phone is able to power the MHL adapter itself but obviously would not be charged then (no surprises there). This does not work however.
Further, connecting a USB OTG cable to the micro usb port on the MHL adapter does nothing. No notification and no devices connecting. No power either, since the LED on my USB Hub does not light up as it should. Connecting any devices to the hub does nothing to change that situation. If i leave out the MHL adapter and connect the USB OTG cable directly to the phone, everything works perfectly. I have tried this with 2 different OTG cables so they are not the problem.
This is an original genuine HDTV Adapter for our phones, which according to that post should be working fine with USB OTG.
AFAIK, this topic --does-- come up more frequently now as i can find a few more discussions about it, albeit none really helpful:
http://android.stackexchange.com/qu...-of-11-pin-mhl-connector-in-samsung-galaxy-s3
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1743128

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_High-Definition_Link#11-pin_MHL-USB_Connector
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1811435
That wiki entry is the most interesting link as it definitely states that using MHL and USB OTG simultaneously is possible and is also the reason why the 5 pin layout was changed to an 11 Pin layout.
Looking forward to reading your replies!
the ability to use MHL and OTG simultaneously would give the S3 so much more purpose. It is powerful enough to replace a desktop computer used only for light stuff like browsing and watching videos, and even simple gaming. If samsung made a dock like the one for the motorola atrix I'm convinced they will broaden their target group. The atrix got everything right with this but is inferior hardware wise. I love the idea of a one device for everything concept. Unfortunately it doesn't rhyme very well with the growth society.
Love the MHL and the OTG is even better only after I got the correct cables as the cables changed on S3 to the S2 version, unlimited space for watching films on my phone is now awesome and even better connecting it to to the TV just need a good dock,
is there perhaps any expert advise on this? According to multiple sources it should work but really doesnt. Did i buy the wrong mhl adapter?
I think they will only both work together when being used with an MHL enabled tv. That way the power comes from the tv and the usb on the adapter can be used for the usb-otg cable.

But if i connected the MHL with the s3. Would sound come out of my phone AND my TV or just my TV. If it justs comes out of my TV, then can i hook up my bluetooth headphones and listen to my video or it would not allow me?
Thanks

Ah ok sorry! Afaik you should be able to choose your headphones as primary audio source in the bluetooth settings. I know I can choose what I want to be output to my bluetooth headset, but I don't own an MHL adapter so I don't know about that. Someone with one should be able to try it, and if they don't own a bluetooth headset/pair of headphones they could try with wired ones and see what happens.

I have recently received an MHL connector (5 pin type) and the samsung 11 to 5 pin adapter for it. I can confirm that if I plug my OTG cable into it, and then into my powered USB hub, I can get the MHL to work just fine, both video and audio. The OTG cable powers it just fine, but does NOT allow me to use other devices attached to the USB hub.
I am still researching. I suspect you need to bring all 11 pins off the phone with a splitter of some sort, or possibly wire data lines through the MHL. Probably not with the 5 pin MHL connector and 11 to 5 pin adapter, but with the full 11 pin MHL adapter. I am not up to that level of hardware hacking. I suspect whoever does it first can sell a BUNCH of them!
Oh, and I have a Moto Lapdock for my Raspberry Pi, and would love to hook my S3 to it too!

OTG

On my Le Max2 OTG does not work .... and in your?
How can I fix the problem?
I didn't have a device to try that, but I tried connecting a gamepad via bluetooth and tried to listen my music via bluetooth (Car-Media-Device was the output). Neither of them worked.
Bluetooth working fine on 14S ROM. A little slow to connect but I have connected 4 items and all work fine @massymoroboshi OTG is also very good, I think its fast too.
I have used USB type c drive and it just asks to allow
For computer make sure 1 drivers are installed an 2 select media device from dialogue box the phone opens when you connect
ok thanks .. I have tried with an adapter micro-USB / USB-type-C + OTG cable, and is not detected by the phone. The PC connection is ok, I'll try to buy an original OTG cable

Hi there!
I Think I've got full information on the OTG matter now after googling and testing stuff.
tldr; Get a USB (3.0?) Type C OTG Adapter, it will work.
Longer version:
After getting my USB C to micro usb adapter I tried getting my USB Sticks to work, no luck, not even blinking so I guess not even power get to those things like this. Then I started googling to find out that the same issues were already persistent with older LeTv phones.
Then I went out to buy a USB C 3.0 OTG Adapter (cost me ~7 bucks in Saturn in Germany, will be cheaper to have online for sure), got my sticks to work and even my 2,5" External HDD without any hiccups. ROM I'm on is 14S, not on the newest update.
I will attach a pic of my adapter so at least you know of one that is confirmed to work.

Jeah I also got it working. Bought a type c Adapter on Amazon for 3€. Pretty stable for stick and 2,5"drive (drives first startup is Pretty long, about a minute) . But there is currently no support for game Controllers via otg neither via Bluetooth
Successfully connected and paired the PS4-Controller via SixaxisPairTool on my Le Max 2. Now I can finally play games without a problem with my PS4-Pad

USB OTG not working

Hello there,
unfortunately, I couldn't get USB OTG working, even though it should support it according to various spec pages.
My setup is following: LG G5 <-> USB Type C to Micro USB adapter <-> Micro USB-OTG adapter (2.0) <-> USB 2.0 thumb drive (see attached picture)
The light of the drive is not lighting up. So maybe the G5 isn't powering the device?
I've tried three different USB-OTG adapters without success. All three are working on a G4 as well as on a Nexus 7 (2012) flawlessly.
The USB Type C to Micro USB adapters should work as well. Charging (normal and QuickCharge) is working perfectly fine, even ADB does as it should so the data pins should be connected. However, both adapters lack D+ and D- pins for USB 2.0 on one side. This should not be a problem, though. (see attached picture)
Did somebody succeed in using OTG in a similar setup?

Is it because the USB controller needs to be configured to be in OTG-mode by using another resistor value?

Do you know whether they comply with the USB 3.1 specifications?
I have the same issue so i used the usb type c to micro adapter on an usb cable and it connected to my computer just fine and i could transfer data is it still the the adapter?
You do know they have started releasing type c OTG cables and adapters without the need of converting from micro usb to type c, right?
See the pictures below. These are just some of the types you can get, soon enough there will be more types of otg and more adapters for type c usb
If not then see the links provided
According to their titles, it says that they comply with 3.1 specs..

Thank you for your reply .
I am aware of those adapters, I just hoped I would be able to use my OTG adapters I already had at home. I'll try to buy one later that year and will report back which one's working…
Hello, sorry for my english, i'm from germany! But i have found the problem, why you can't connect to the usb storage! If I disconnect my sd card in the settings and connect my otg device, i can find the usb stick! My lg g5 can only connect one device in time!
Not the adapter ...
I was on lineage OS until end of May and did not get the OTG working with any adapter what so ever.
OTG worked with the Stock Kernel and now I am running Resurrection Remix' version of April 8th 2017. Since Resurrection Remix is based on lineageos - as expected - the OTG got broken in later Resurrection Remix releases.
So something weird happened in the firmware between April 8th and now.
This one works perfectly.

Any news on LG G5 and broken OTG?
i have the same issue, i can connect my G5 with Adapters to my PC... there Data Transfer is working
But no usbstick or usb led or usb mouse is running with choetech or anker usb adapters.
i also tried this one

it seems that the usb devices are getting no power from the usb port

Tried many adapters that claim to be h850-OTG-comaptible (have now 8 of those). It can't just be the adapter, because earlier version of Lineage OS and RR worked and still work.
But I am glad that you have found a solution for yourself

I've already poked our G5 maintainer about it and he'll investigate the issue when he gets back from vacation in a bit over 2 weeks. It has to be something that LOS changed upstream and he'll try to work it out when he gets back
The same issue here. When I first time connected OTG adapter G5 showed notification about charging and when I clicked that it could be changed to multimedia device or something similar. It connected the USB key successfully but disconnected few seconds later. Never ever got this notification again when connected any other USB keys. Nowhere in the settings can be found any USB options.. Any idea how to fix this?
I have the same issue.
I have a number of usb c otg adapters and devices. Like cameras (endoscope). Drone telemetry receiver. Programmable LED spinner that uses an android app.
All of these things worked in the past. Connecting to my LG G5 resulted in a popup where I would choose which app to run.
Now when I plug anything into the usb port using an otg configuration, nothing pops up. Nothing happens.
Phone still charging ok via usb.
Hello all
I finally gave up on OTG, after having bought 8 so-called LG G5 compatible OTG adapters for half a fortune
BUT for everybody who is in the same big despare as I was, I - by chance - finally found a great solution for myself.
"SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick" with integrated WiFi (mine has 32 GB), provides copying, streaming and whatsoever to your phone - simple and simply genius.
see also:
https://www.sandisk.co.uk/home/mobile-device-storage/connect-wireless-stick
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sandisk.connect
Plug it into the PC and use it like a normal USB stick and connect to Phone via WiFi and optionally share with other mobile devices.
For home internet you can even use the stick and WiFi at the same time. Whoever invented this gimmik may have been aware of all our issues.
Just works like a charm. Unbelievable!
Instead of waiting "til kingdom come", stop posting, complaining, waiting - at least I will stop, because obviously nothing's going on in this direction.
A little Addition: when you have IP-config (or similar) installed on your LG G5 and you open IP-config
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paksoftwares.ipconfig&hl=en
then connect the WiFi of the PC to the SanDisk Stick and type the gateway-address shown in IP-config into the URL-line of your browser
You can then transfer data between phone and PC directly via the SanDisk Connect WiFi stick ... how cool is that?
Mine works fine. Had issues with certain kernels though...
Bump
Still same Problem in RR.
The Adapter works in TWRP version 3.1.0.0 but in the newer versions also not.
I don't even get a pupup and devices Art n't powered...
Is the typhon kernel capable oft handling otg?
my experience
I am using the stock Android OS 8 on an LG G5 from Fido in Canada, specifically the “LGE LG-H831” variant according to the Google Play Store. I have a microUSB plug↔full-size USB Type A socket USB OTG adapter from StarTech that works with my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 but I needed a USB Type C plug↔full-size USB Type A socket USB OTG adapter now that I have switched from the Galaxy Note 3 to the LG G5. I bought five of this model of adapter (in red colour) on eBay for only around 5 CAD total including shipping from Asia to Metro Vancouver, Canada, which took between 20 and 30 days but buying this type of product on eBay from Asia cost way less than buying it locally:
https://www.ebay.ca/itm/283235483653
Sorry, I got ahead of myself in writing my story because I am tired and I did this USB OTG stuff at least a week or two ago by now. I have two models of microUSB socket↔USB Type C plug adapters, one black one from StarTech and one white unbranded one that may have been included with the LG G5 but I do not know for certain because my father gave me this LG G5; I am not the original recipient/user of this LG G5. I could not get any of the USB devices I tried working with the LG G5 with these two types of adapters connected together. I tried with a USB SSD, a USB keyboard with a microUSB connector (so actually using only one adapter in this case), a USB keyboard with a normal full-size USB Type A plug, and a USB↔Ethernet adapter. That is why I searched the Internet and found this topic. Then the adapters I linked above arrived. With the adapter I linked above, all of the USB devices that did not work (other than the keyboard with the microUSB connector) now seem to work with the LG G5. I was not able to network the LG G5 via Ethernet in the time I had available to spend on that project but I think this was only a software problem because the hardware seemed to be working. When I say the USB devices did not work with the LG G5 with the old adapters, I mean nothing seemed to happen when I connected the USB devices to the LG G5 using the old adapters. With the new adapter, the USB devices seem to work when connected to the LG G5 without any special action. I upgraded the stock OS on the LG G5 from Android OS 7 to Android OS 8 before I began seriously using the LG G5 because I did not want to lose the time customising the software if the in-place upgrade of the OS failed. Almost all of my experience with the LG G5 is with the stock Android OS 8, not Android OS 7 nor earlier versions. I have not and will not try to replace the stock OS on the LG G5 because I had a bad experience with replacing the OS on the Galaxy Note 3 even after I reverted to the stock OS. My LG G5 seems to still be unrooted, which seems to not matter in practice for my use case so far.
I purchased a USB 3.1 docking station model T3527-VIII+ from ineo on Amazon. USB 3 to type C adapter comes with it. I use the adapter with my LG G5 RS988 without a problem. Devices are: regular USB drives, USB keyboards and USB mice.

USB-C capabilities?? USBpens, HDD, HDMI etc??

Anyone who knows the capabilities of the USB-C port?? Is it possible to use USBpens, external harddrives, card-reader etc? And how about USB-C to HDMI, a seller in a store told me he did it with his m5... But I have my doubts to whether that was "salesmens talk"...
Don't have an M5 yet (tomorrow), but the Mate SE (micro usb) port can be used for many things people are not aware of. For many things all you need is an OTG cable (usb-c or micro to usb). I've plugged in usb thumb drives and even a wireless keyboard and mouse using a logitech unifying receiver (first set usb connection to midi).
A quick search turned this usb-c to hdmi adapter on amazon, looks like there are many different ones available. Have never tried this with any of my android devices, but if they make these adapters, well it certainly gives one hope that it *might* work, it certainly must in some circumstances.
https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Supporting-Thunderbolt-Compatible/dp/B00X4S5C7G
I have a HDMI adapter I use for the Nintendo Switch (which also should work with Samsung devices) and that one doesn't work with my M5 8.4.
I also have a USB-C OTG adapter and a USB memory stick works, but I haven't yried anything else.
It doesn't appear that the M5 is capable of hdmi output. Mhl and slimport seem to be absent.
I used a USB c combo dongle , it had USB A female and sd card slot.
On holiday I used it to copy my gopro videos to ssd. It wasn't pushing usb 3 speeds and the system acts a little weird when it is plugged in - movies that are downloading on amazon or Google play would go to the ssd or sdcard plugged in from otg, even though I have an sdcard in the external asd slot

Weird, I've tried it with Hugo 2 / UAPP playing hi-res flac and it seems to work fine. I set it in bit perfect mode and the bit rate indicator LED showed the correct bitrate. I did have to try a couple of unplug/replug to get the tablet to do some permission requests. It also worked with Youtube and the default Android audio system - though I did have to stop UAPP kicking in.
USB C can power external hard drive, and ive got one of those USB to 2.5in adapters that powers a 1tb toshiba laptop drive and that's ok too, the tablet also give me the option to reverse charge, so i presume it is capable of high amp output on the port, maybe up to 1A or more
I've tried an USB type-c to hdmi cable and it doesn't work , the same cable works on a P20 Pro.
Yeah the USB port isn't working correctly. It's supposed to be USB 3.0, but i am copying at 18MB/s (onto an SD card capable of 100MB/s)
Confirmed with Huawei it's USB 2.0
Seriously dissapointed, and I know it sounds silly but this device isn't useful without USB 3.0, I have an action camera and hence I copy video to internal SD card. What use is a device if you can't input/output to it fast enough.

Have same experience. Really regret buying high end Huawei M5 and then realised I could not use it with HDMI cable. Wireless projection is really lag!
For folks with slow USB data issues, it mat be that you need a powered hub for it to work optimally. I've had this issue with a few Android devices over the years.

USB OTG+Charging simultaneously

Does the Mi Pad 4 support OTG+Charging at the same time? So if hook up a Y USB Type-C cable, connect power, connect a usb storage stick and plug it in the tablet. Are you able to charge and use the usb stick simultaneously?
Because I am looking to replace my Nexus 7 (2013) for my in-dash car install with the Mi Pad 4 (dimensions are almost identical) this would be a nice feature

Glad to hear! I'm waiting to buy it. Probably will as soon as you say it works, though. Thanks for sharing, in advance!
Still waiting for mine. I hope that it will be soon but we are still talking about "China Air Mail" so...
Update: I got my HUB and unfortunately it does not charge the tablet. Only usb ports are working. The more interesting part is that on my phone (Huawei Mate 20 X) it is the complete opposite... It charges the phone but the usb devices are not detected...
I'm beginning to think they should remove the "U" from USB when it is about Type-C ...
I also am thinking that the tablet does not support the USB PD protocol and there might not be any hub that will do charge and data on it.
Hey guys,
Success!! .... or at least 99% of one...
Some weeks ago when I tested the first hub I purchased (the one that worked as a hub but not charging) I contacted the seller and the replied to me that they have most probably sent me the wrong model and will send a new one. Today I got that replacement and upon opening the package I was quite skeptical to find the same (at least visually) hub. Anyway I tested it and oh miracle! It is charging the tablet and at the same time it works as a USB OTG HUB!! The only caveat is that it is charging slowly (about 200mA to 500mA) but at least it is working.

This is great.
1. Can you confirm which ROM and kernel you were using when the OTG+Charging was working?
2. Where you able to test a USB DAC as an OTG device simultaneously when charging?
3. Any specific order in which the peripherals, tablet and charging cable have to be connected, in order for OTG+Charging to work?

1. Unfortunately I don't have the tablet anymore as my project didn't happen but I'm almost sure that it was either the Xiaomi dev ROM or the Xiaomi.EU rom. (it was a MIUI ROM and I have not tested any other MIUI ROMs than those two) Regarding the kernel, it was which ever Kernel was in the ROMs.
2. DAC I did not test. Only USB Flash drive.
3. Order I tried first connecting everything to the hub and then the hub to the tablet, and also connecting and disconnecting USB Flash drives while everything is connected.

Thank you. It did not work with MIUI or XIAOMI.EU ROM for me, but it does with the Havoc ROM. USB DAC + Flash Drive were both working plus the Pad was charging as well (upto 750mA)
