Looking for a way to automatically connect to a VPN whenever a I connect to specific WIFI networks. If it matters I currently have OpenVPN based options & TorGuard but I'm completely open to others. Ideally this VPN session would close whenever I disconnect.
Yes, I could leave the VPN up all the time but I'm just looking to secure my first hop (work & public networks) and not worried about cellular data snooping and my own personal WIFI.

I found several utilities to connect WIFI to a choosed hotspot, WIFI scanner like, but none having IP settings switching feature, at the same time (like Mobile Net Swith for XP).
Does someone know such a product? a utility? a script/batch?
Or, you keep your WIFI settings to DHCP provided IP & DNS ?
Thus allowing kinda easyness when roaming thru unknown public hotspots.
I'm interesting by any suggest too
I use a program called Hitchhiker - by Kasuei. It's free to use, nice graphics + you can make a donation if you like it.

I've set up a private network wireless with a webserver for a project I'm working on. I do not (and cannot) have internet connectivity on this network. Whenever I bring up the web browser on the TP (3.04) it spams me with "Error: No Internet Connection" messages and I can't access the webserver. I do not believe I had this problem with spamming on 3.02.
Does anyone know how to disable this or at least know the mechanism that the TP uses to determine if it has Internet connectivity? Maybe I can spoof it.
Ok, so, I have a VPN setup at home, and I'm connected to it with my phone (AT&T Infuse 4G). Does every single packet go out through the VPN or only the ones destined for an IP on the private subnet? If it indeed passes every packet over the VPN (as with others I've used), why couldn't one just tether it after that? Would all data not then go over AT&Ts network and out to the internet via my home connection?
I've actually been musing about this for a while, but never bothered to actually connect my phone to my home VPN until now to even think about trying it.
Anybody have any unique insight on this?
Occasionally I want to connect to a WiFi network that doesn't have a decent DHCP service. I can connect to the AP but I do not get an IP number, DNS server and so on.
Is there a way (an app, maybe) that allows manual configuration of a WiFI connection?
I'm running UrukDroid on Archos 101IT.
Under advanced wifi settings you can manually configure your connection. No need for a special app.

I want to host an INFRASTRUCTURE (not AD-HOC), otherwise known as a SoftAP (Access point) on wifi. This is possible with many applications, but they all want to use a mobile data connection. Is there any application that allows you to host a SoftAP WITHOUT a 2G/3G/4G connection? This is just for playing over WIFI between a samsung galaxy s3 and an older android 2.1 tablet. These cannot see AdHoc networks.
Anyways, I'm interested in any application that allows hosting of an infrastructure WiFi network without tethering to just host a wireless lan point.

I am also very interested in a solution/app like this.
A photo app (MoPhotos) will work with my EyeFi WiFi card to transfer photos from the card in my camera to my computer/Android device via Wifi.
Currently, the card has to go through the home router as that what it looks for to give it a IP Address and network to connect to the computer/Android.
If there is a way for the Android device to be a Wifi HotSpot without the mobile tethering, I can configure the card to talk directly to the Android, which would be *very* helpful when out and about.
