Hello,
I think this is really weird.
After a few days I´m not able to charge my phone anymore.
not on: Aukey QC3, IPhone 5se, motorolla, no name charger, original, my work notebook USB port.
Nothing charge it.
Until I plug it into my home desktop PC.
Can someone explain what is happening?
I think it is a ROM bug, since I could open fastboot and the mi flash tool does detect it. And it is now charging (again) ... this happened the second time now...
Any tips?
strange....

Yup, very strange. I think I read something somewhere about a similar issue.
Most people think there USB port is broken. But I think they have the same issue but just no PC which works (as noted my work notebook does not work, but my desktop PC does...) it was also detected in in fastboot mode on my work PC (just to low on power to try) ...
I had a simmilar problem (well, I still have). I removed the back cover and removed the battery cables - and plugged them in again. After a couple of tries it started charging again. But yesterday my phone fell and since then I can charge it only via a huawei charger. The Xiaomi one doesn't work. One thing is for sure... If you get a red blinking while the phone is turned off and charging, you must let it rest for about a minute in order to plug in an other charger and start charging again ...

Exactly, but I dont have a huawei charger... Just my desktop pc... which produces basically the same result. So I guess it is a Kernel / ROM issue?

it should be a hardware related problem. I managed to fix it for about 2 weeks, till yesterday when my phone dropped down ....

Hi ,
Some people got this issue fixed by returning back to stock ROM.
You can try that.
In my case the charging port was busted so I got it replaced from service center
Thanks

I was on stock, after the second time I switched to global developer version. Let's see how it goes...
But why should a buster charging port only work on PC? And after that normally? (for a week or so)

Yes in my case no charger was able to charge my phone only USB was charging.
So I went to global dev ROM using EDL mode and then went to service center. They replaced it in 30 mins. Also my charger was not working so they replaced charger as well.

Can you try with MIUI stock ROM and tell if you are still facing the problem? This should mostly be the ROM problem like you said.

I have had this s2 for less than a year so the battery should still be good and has been up until today. I plugged my phone in last night to charge over night as I usually do, but when I woke up it was completely dead. I tried 3 different cords and many different ports and wall sockets and it still does the same thing, which is nothing.
The phone seems very sensitve as to how I have the cord plugged into its port. I have it plugged in now but I have to keep watching it because it will randomly stop charging. Well, it's barely even charging anyways. It keeps going back and forth between 6% and 7% charge. Would replacing the port fix the issue or is it a problem with the battery? Any help or info would be appreciated.

I suppose I could try that. Suppose it's not the battery. Could just replacing the port work or would I be able to exchange it for a new one at ATT since I have insurance on it? (I'd rather ask you guys first than deal with ATT customer service lol)

I just got the replacement port board in the mail and the phone charges fine now. However, once I put the board in the phone is saying "Emergency Calls only."
I've tried taking the sim card in and out and restarting it and what not and it still says the same thing.
Is the phone recognizing that it's not the original part or something?

I think that could be part of the issue. However, my phone seems to be stuck in a boot loop after I did a factory reset and I can't get it into recovery mode for some reason.

According to this I ordered the wrong REV number
I did put the new board back in before it started having the boot loop issue and it was still saying "Emergency Calls Only"
Also the old board started charging again for some reason....
This whole thing is just getting worse and worse!

You weren't on 4.0.4 were you??
This looks kinda messy.
If you were in 4.0.4, as rat said, you could be lucky as you probably have a brick due to the brick bug.
Of course, your warranty must still be standing.
Why? Because it's Samsung's fault, not yours (of course it is, they don't need to know tho).

So, anyone having the same problem here? I already reported this issue to Sony support forum. And yeah, theres alot of people having the same issue like this. The LED will start blinking right after it reach 90% above. Its very annoying to check it all time.
This is happened to me almost everytime i charge my phone. This is kinda software bug, or something to do with rooted or recovery installed? Since i have a rooted and recovery installed on it. Or maybe the problem is with the magnetic cable usb?
Nopee.. Nothing of that sort for me ...

Happens to me aswell connected via USB on my pc.
So, i bought a new brand magnetic charging adaptor called "MAGNECTOR X2". This solved the blinking charging issue. Yeah i was right, theres nothing to do with lollipop update or software. ROFL! I recommended for u guys also.
Stronger magnet
More stable
Can be used with all type micro usb cable
Easy to carry
*Search at youtube "magnector x2" for more detail.

The docking station isn't original, however it was charging fine on kitkat.

I suggest u try with another diffrent magnetic charger, if the prob still there, do a clean install by using flashtool. Hope that will help, since my problem already solved by changing the usb cable/magnetic charger it self.
For your information, charging your phone to 85% or 90% rather than 100% doubles it's battery life cycle (as in amount of discharge/charge cycles it can survive through). This is something you should care about as the back of the phone is not openable.
I'd want mine to blink after 90%

redmi note 3 charging fix
I too had the same problem and I tried flashing in fastboot and other things stated in internet. But I replaced charging port newly purchasing online. If your mobile is still in warranty period fix it in service center or replace it yourself. Check YouTube for how to replace charging port. You can buy charging port from eBay or Amazon or any other desired site. Check your phone has 24 or 30 pin in charging port board of your phone. Because Redmi has two variant. If you have any doubt just google it.

I don't think it's ROM or kernel,
I have the same issue.
It doesn't charge even in power OFF mode, and also with the STOCK ROM.
I changed the charger/cable. doesn't work.
I use an app called 'ampere' and it's saying the phone is discharging. but the cable is plugged.
probably it's the charging socket.

Had the same problem & solved it
Hi,
I had the same problem - when connecting the charger (any charger/laptop etc I tried) the phone started charging, then stopped and started charging randomly.
What I did: Open the phone, brushed the USB board, took dusk and dirt out of the USB port, and it works like a charm again.
I used this instruction video and followed the steps exactly, apart from taking out the USB board which isn't necessary if you only clean it. You will need some tools (most importantly a small screwdriver and an (old, used) toothbrush.
I'm a new user so I cannot post the link. Search on youtube for the video with the title: How to Replace Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, Note 4 , Redmi 4A , Redmi 4 and Redmi 3s Carging port ( Pin )
Good luck.
I have solved this problem
Turn on USB debugging from developer mode then put your phone on charging for 1 full night in switched off mode ...
It will charge normally

its work for me after researching for 3 days
If you guys are using fast charge or QC chargers with custom kernel, Sorry to say that charging and discharging randomly is because of that. You are gonna destroy zener diode which stabilize current passing thru it. If input current suppress 5V it will burn your zener and your device will completely stop charging. (Only working aftermath way is removing burnt diode)
I highly recommend you guys to stick with stock chargers. Or use kernel that limits its current to 2100mA (approx) (Agni kernel has it) to avoid damage to zener diode.
P.S:- Once you replace your USB board, I am pretty sure that you will face some serious network issue like most of users (those changed board) are facing.
I am facing charging issues charger connects and disconnects immediately. Even when charging the phone in off mode it connects and disconnects. Tried several chargers and cables, all are showing same problem. I remember last time i installed a custom kernel after that this problem started. Hope to get some help
Get your charging sub-board replaced. I faced the same problem a month back. Take it to service center and they will replace it for 599rs.

If u sure its not due to rom or cable. And if u sure its hardware fault. Then follow this thread. No need to replace charging board. Just open ur device backcover.
Remove charging board with screw driver.
Take very very tiny flat screw driver and remove the safety diode by very gently scratching on the location marked in circle on charging board. U will get location of diode in below thread. I posted picture in below thread. Go through that thread.
Be careful while scratching with screw driver. Use only tiny smallest flat screw driver and not to damage surrounding circuits.
Sometimes due to high current this diode fuse blows and stops charging ur device. If u remove the top black layer of diode with screw driver by scratching till u see bottom silver base Then it will start charging again.
My device stopped charging once. so i tried it and it worked. Its best trick.
Follow the below thread.

Hey.
I have a problem with my phone.
The phone is loading very slowly (150-300mA)
If the phone is switched off and connected to the charger, the red LED blinks and can not be switched on.
The phone only starts when I disconnect it from the charger.
PC does not detect the phone. After connecting to the PC there is no reaction.
I have already replaced the USB board. It still does not work.

Same happens to mine. It's hardware issue.
Simple solution is remove back panel, disconnect battery connector, reconnect it back.
It fixed my problem.
