File transfer error - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Questions & Answers

Hey guys so u was transferring my files to hard disk from my phone through otg...I am using WD passport 1tb...default file manager doesn't support it but es explorer works fine ...thy PROBLEM is that I am able to transfer files from my internal storage to hard disk but not from my inserted memory card to hard disk ...it shows operation failed and all my permission are on

If that disk is for usb3.0+ that maybe the problem i have issues with usb3.0 before. Also some non stock options can interfere with file tranfers.

Yeah the problem was actually the NTFS format which was solved by exfat/NTFS driver
Thanks for replying buddy

Can't copy from SD to External SD

I have a SGS2 with Lite'ning Rom v1.5 XXKF2.Besides the 16GB internal memory I have a 4GB microSD card also.My problem is that I can't copy images/videos or any files at all from the internal memory to my external memory.I have tried with 3-4 File managers so I know the progam isn't the problem.
Oh and by the way, no error message occurs. It shows that it is transfered (the loading bar fills) but nothing hapens. My only solution is to copy files from internal to pc through cable and then from pc to external through cable. All this with mass storage mode.To much time for something so simple.
Is there a solution?
I have the same question
Copied from external to SD trough ASTRO, but the content copied dissapaired.
Can you copy between the two phone drives in windows explorer without copying to PC first .
jje
I've tried it using Root Explorer and it works fine. I'm on stock ROM, just rooted it - nothing more.
I found that some file explorers had this copying issue. One that always works for me is Ghost Commander.

XT912 - Have to format MOT drive and sdcard.

So, I hooked up my Razr to my company laptop and mounted the drives for the sdcard and internal memory drives as normal when wanting to access the files.
Now this didn't happen with my G2, but I got prompted that I had to encrypt the drives with a Yes or No option....I clicked Yes my mistake and now both drives got encrypted.
Accessible only when connected to my laptop now but the phone works fine, I just can't see anything with a file viewer as the files are encrypted.
Local IT says they cannot de-crypt the files, they don't have access. BUT, I can copy all the files from both MOT drive and sdcard to the laptop and burn to CD/DVD which will decrypt the files.
HOWEVER, I need to format both drives and then copy files back. But what is the proper way to format both drives???
Thanks!
No suggestions on the best way to format the Internal memory and sdcard?
Do the formatting options work good enough in the Storage setting?
Yuo should be fine doing that from the phone.
factory reset your device or you can try flashing the correct rom

[Q] file size limit on microsd with jelly bean

currently i have a gs3 running omega rom v27.2 with a 64gb microsd exfat formatted.
i've noticed that in windows i cannot copy a file >4gb to the microsd card on the phone via usb cable. it just stops with a error saying it exceeds the device limit.
in the past, probably i month ago (no idea what omega rom version i was using) i had no difficulty transferring a >4gb file to the phone via the usb cable
so the only option i have now is to:
-take off the phone tough case (<-the most annoying part)
-pop the back off
-eject the microsd card out of the phone
-put microsd into adapter
-find the card reader
-then copy the >4gb file to the microsd
-then do all the above in the reverse
that's 12 steps vs 1 click to copy file to the phone in the past when it had no limit on file size
i tried foxhound 0.7 rom, also same problem.
is there a solution ?
A work-around might be to format the card as NTFS. The S3 doesn't natively support NTFS but there are apps that add support.
I've been using NtfsSd on the S3 for a while now, because I share the card with my Transformer Prime and that reboots randomly when it has an exFAT card inserted.
Hopefully there's a proper solution to your issue, but as work-arounds go this one's not so bad.
yeah i tried formatting the 64gb microsd into ntfs then using the paragon ntfs&hfs+ app
but even that doesnt let me copy >4gb files to the microsd card when the phone is connected by usb cable. same error. file size exceeds the device limit which is crap.
This is in no way a solution, but have you tried SGS 3 Easy UMS? At least you won't have to keep on removing your memory card from the phone.
i hadn't used sg3 easy ums for a while cos last time i used it, it corrupted my memory card but that was a much older version.
just tried it:
-hit ums mode , detected the microsd on the pc, and it seems to work
-copying 8gb file to the microsd as i type
at least now i can copy to the microsd in the phone without the hassle :good:

Access SD-Card (formatted as internal storage) via USB or Filebrowser App?

Hi P9000 users!
I had now time to test some stuff with my P9000. One question: I inserted a Sandisk 128 GB SDXC Card (UHS) and formatted as internal Storage (want to move apps). Worked fine for the Phone and i was able to move apps to the SD. But after connecting Phone to USB (via MTP & unlocked phone) it only shows 32 GB internal SD. Also via File Explorer app on the phone i cannot find the external SD or mountpoint....
Anyone with same issue? I also changed connection-type to USB and then my OS (Win 10) does not open phone file system at all.
thx and br

We did an article about the SD card memory management in Marshmallow a while ago on the XDA portal that explains this, I'd suggest googling for it as I can't remember the title.
Edit: Something to do with the SD card being formatted as Ext4 (linux file system standard these days) and Windows not supporting Ext4 filesystems.
Thx for reply, so i am afraid its related to Android 6 default behaviour. So if SD is formatted as internal storage you cannot access via USB from PC or managing files on it via file browser app? Thats really disappointing for me since it then switches SD card to enhanced app storage only, useless for image, videos, music etc. Of course i can format as portable SD, but then no movement of apps are possible (via root its maybe the only option).
In SD portable mode, i also had issue that SD cards randomly disconnects and one time it even needed to be reformatted. Have read about that in another thread, that this is related to physical sd mount... will see to fix this with some tape :/ (gives me not a good feeling here)

Update: checked some forums and blogs, seems not to be android 6 default behavior that you completely cannot access the files on adopted SD-card anymore. after adopting as internal storage... anyone could also reproduce this? I will try doing factory reset with SD-Card inserted..

Problem: Files after sending to external sd card cannot be opened!

Hi.
my tablet is samsung android 5.1.1 and rooted.
this is about one month that this problem started.
When i transfer any file from computer to external sd card by USB cable it can not opend and after restart i see this file is not in my sd card! (move, music,pdf,...).
but if at first i tarnsfer any file from computer to internal memory by USB cable and then i copy/move by android file explorer from internal memory to external sd card, the file can be opend and editable!!!
I think a hacker or an app has changed any system files therefore this problem occur. or maybe some other rezone.
Please help for solving this problem.
Thanks.
