Does any one know if anyone is working on adding rs988 support to lineage OS or if anyone might be interested in giving it a shot?

I'm interested in this as well. I suspect initial sales number for rs988 was low but with stores like B&H blowing their inventory for $250, I suspect a lot of them are now being sold. Hopefully LineageOS will add support for this model before LG stops updating the phone.
Nothing yet for RS988 as I have been reading

Haven't tested yet, but someone did begin to stage an RS988 port of LineageOS:
https://github.com/LineageOS/android_device_lge_rs988
Will build myself when I get a chance... stuck on 10h and no 21a KDZ in sight.
I'd be happy to test... but my PC likely can't handle building tho

You don't need a KDZ to get off of 10h. Autoprime posted a fix months ago via TWRP

Yeah, tried it a couple hours after I posted. I just got my RS988, so catching up.
The LG Bootloader Unlock site was completely dysfunctional with Chrome on Mac, apparently not alone in that. Will try to build LineageOS tonight and try unlocking again with a PC...
I primarily am interested in LineageOS as this is a Cat 12 LTE phone for under $200, and with LineageOS I could retool the device for IoT use... alongside Cat 12 speeds.
Unfortunately it appears LG has shut the door on Brightpoint RS988's. Attempting to unlock the bootloader on LG's web site now displays a specific error, noting that the Brightpoint version of the RS988 is not elegible for bootloader unlock.
Why LG is going to this length, for a small carrier (which I'm all but certain doesn't care one bit about this scenario), is beyond me. But it certainly has soured me to trying again. Probably going to hold out for a Sony XZ1 Compact at this point.
I was able to unlock bootloader from LG . anyluck on lineage for RS988?
I would like to try building Lineage OS for the RS988. I've never built a rom from source though. Can anyone tell me what I would need to do to get started?
Check multiple guides on XDA or on youtube

Be prepared that sadly LineageOS has enormous amount of bugs that might be untrivial to solve like broken NFC & quick charge for most of devices, buggy Bluetooth, crashing apps and such.
+ you need Linux either locally or in VM
Unofficial port is being developed
So there is an unofficial one that I have found works fairly well. Like all first versions there are some bugs of course, but very good first step in my opinion.

Give it a try but as with all mods from a stock user beware.

"The G2 Dream Team" (and they well deserve that name) has released not one, but TWO lollipop builds for the LG G2. Both ROMs are based on the same build tree, but one ROM is CM12 and the other is a LiquidSmooth 4.0 ROM. Despite being built from the same build tree, they carry different features. They are stable and usable for daily drivers, but they may carry some bugs, like a non-functional video playback, NFC issues for LS/VS980 but it should all be sorted out in the near future. Head over to the threads to read more!:

Older posts:
An increasing amount of devices have been receiving unofficial Android Lollipop 5.0 ports, like the HTC One M8 and the LG Optimus L9. Today another device can be added to the list of phones receiving a treatment with the taste of Android Lollipop, the LG G2. While there generally has been a wide contribution from the community; testing, sharing files and giving ideas, two XDA members stood out in particular in order to create the build, @ylukasy and @InfinitusDesigner. The port is still in a very early pre-alpha stage, and the bugs are barely known yet, but the ROM boots and has even been rooted! While it might be wisest to wait until an official thread has been made before grabbing your devices and start flashing, @ylukasy has already provided a download link for the ROM, and calls for people to help discover the bugs so that they can be eliminated. Please notice that the ROM might not be stable enough to be used as a daily driver, but owners of a LG G2 are officially an important step closer to having a stable Lollipop ROM!
If this post caught your interest and you're willing to take the risk, head over to the last pages in the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/general/unofficial-cm12-nexus-5-posted-t2936398
As previously mentioned, a lot of things are not sorted out yet, and the build might not be for your device number, so make sure you read the entire thread before continuing, or simply wait untill an official thread is made.
Update:
An official thread has been posted and it can be found by following this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/rom-android-lollipop-fast-clean-t2941922
The build is a port of the Nexus 5 ROM, and users of the ROM have been saying that the rom is very fast and fluid, calls work, camera works (although the quality is inferior), but other users have been reporting random reboots and incompatibilities with certain apps such as YouTube or WhatsApp.

This post will be updated regularly when new information regarding Lollipop ports surface.
Fantastic News! Will get round to trying it shortly, thanks for the link!
While I have my doubts about it being functional (or even booting) on my LS980, I'll give it a shot and see what happens.
Nice to see things moving at breakneck speeds these days.
On a side note, I just read the AnandTech review of the Nexus 6 and am happy to report that my well over a year old G2 beats it in several benchmarks so I'm pretty satisfied at the moment, especially considering I got it for free. I mean really...
In before "no build for xxxx?!?!?!?"
Anyone know how to port a d802 rom to d800?
Ready to try it out and see what happened..??
his build is from the same source the other was he doesn't deserve credit for it. it's using cm12 kernel and dev claims it's using nexus 5 port yet requires gapps and no signs of any nexus 5 code at all.
Wouldn't it be alot easier to just post the download link here?

Hi everybody!!
I need a tester please:
I built pure AOSP for the D802 from sources of Android right now, has anybody time to test it?
It is an experimental build and I didn't test it right now, so I don't know if it is working, please make a backup from your current rom.
The build comes with an built in CWM recovery and should be with root access. It can be flashed with the same instructions like the CM 12 build.
Edit: Bootloop right now ... Anybody, can you take a logcat?

Thank you in advance!! Please anybody who tries it: can you send me a pm?

Yes, I have this exact same question, as you can see in my thread here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/help/request-custom-roms-rs988-unlocked-t3636605
Really again, I do not mean to annoy any developers or users, but it would be AWESOME if we could get even one custom ROM on this device. Fulmics, Lineage, Paranoid Android, Resurrection Remix, Dirty Unicorns, ANYTHING. I would be incredibly happy, and my experience with my phone would also be improved.
Also, a humble question, is it harder to develop for the RS988 because it's newer? Because the 830 and 850 models have TWRP and all, but the RS988 also has an official bootloader unlock method. Again, this is not meant to be an annoyance, simply a question.

Hi All!
Is there a way to get lineage 14.x on le pro 3 Elite (X722)? I've been searching online, but all information seems to be related to X720 model, and there is basically nothing (or very little) regarding the X722... I was hoping to be able to root my device, Install lineage OS, and then un-root (due to using some corporate apps which don't allow devices to be rooted).
Please let me know in case you have some info. I will greatly appreciate your help!
Thanks!
Mick
Hey
As far as i know Leeco didn't released their open source code for x722 and that's why there is no custom roms. I'm a little bit confused because they shared their open source code for many models and i don't know why they didn't do that for x722 :C
tried booting this rom

I didn't tried any rom and at the moment i don't have this phone. I think different processor than in leeco x720/x727 make it useless to use the 720/727 rom for this device and can only lead to brick phone.
So why does TWRP for x720/x727 work flawlessly on x722?
Also lineage OS developer for lepro3 asked if anyone can give him log files from lineage boot on x722 then he can probably make it work. It seems the issue is not CPU (i guess it is same linux kernel and drivers anyway), but somehow changed boot sequence of the x722 then x720/x727, but i don't really understand this stuff.

I don't agree regarding the battery, but an sd slot I definitely miss... the phone itself is good, but it really sucks that we can't put lineage on it. I wish I did proper research before buying it, as I would probably go for a different one.

yea you are right . I saw x626 with 4/64gb on gearbeast for less than 140. But I cancelled the order because there is no ROM support. This model was not released outside of China so it has no google play store originally and no MTK model was made for market outside CN like the 1s thus flashing Indian/Russian or other international ROM is not a possibility.

The problem is that the bootloader is locked and there is currently no root for the device... and as it seems like there will never be. one...
It would make this phone so much better if we had the chance to put lineage on it, as LeEco is going under (if not already), and there will be no future updates to the software, even though there are so many bugs... such as you can't change default browser, expand notifications, and so on....

yes, and the camera not auto-focusing when changing from a far to a closer focus or the contrary and you have to be tapping on the screen every time
so in the end maybe the lineage 14 for the x720 and x727 might work fine but the point is that the x722 has a locked door about bootloader and can't open and enter to work on it?

I will also be able to help once my phone arrives. Wondering what firmware i'll get it with (from BangGood).
When I scanned xda I saw official lineage for x72x so i assumed it was supported - the title is a bit misleading. Probably wouldn't have ordered it if I read the whole thread.
That said, I'm in it for the long haul now, and might actually be a good opportunity for me to actually give something back to the xda community (besides $).
Too many wrong infos in this topic.
- Bootloader is locked ONLY in 026s stock rom and it CAN be unlocked by flashing 001d dev release.
- You DON'T flash x720 roms to x722 since you will easily get a nice brick.
- You DON'T flash stock 026s through TWRP (especially from geekbuying vendor 020s rom with twrp)
- x722 has root in tora33 custom rom - this is a fresh stuff so check that thoroughly

Do you have a link for this ROM?
I've been thinking about the myriad of "old" gadgets that are alive thanks to the variety of ROMs available these days.
But a fact that intrigues me is why this device has very few ROMs available ... it really is something that draws the attention precisely because it has a good potential to receive them.
I have been around the G2 Mini forums since, pretty much, when the device was released. If you have a look at the oldest posts, some of them are mine.
In that time, I have seen many devs, at first trying to unlock the bootloader of the device, with Zaaap finally succeeding, by figuring out how the Russians at 4pda hacked the bootloader of the L90, and then he, and others, made some ROMs.
Since then, the only ROM dev that seems to still be working on our device is @mobiusm . Other that him, I still work on my kernel, with the help of @likeadracula . (However, he is very busy and I don't have any features to add, so there is little work done lately)
I don't know why there aren't any other devs, although, I believe it's because of the initial price (250-300 €) so no dev got it, and, even when the price dropped, it was already "old".
So, yeah, that's what I think.
P.S.: This is not a development thread, but a discussion. It belongs in G2 Mini General.
EDIT: Thread moved by mod.
For me, one developer who works on ROMs and one on Kernels, seems like a lot for a nearly 4 year old, non flagship device.
Also, having the newest Recovery & newest ROM which are worked out properly + a neat kernel with all the features you desire should not be taken for granted.
I am very grateful for all the development that has been done and will be done and I wouldn't know why I should get a new phone, 'cause this one works just fine, at least for me.
My surprise in relation to this fact is related that this device does not differ in anything from the L90 in terms of hardware, and the boot unblocking is the same, same procedures, so it is common to see roms for L90 and not for the G2m. This is something I'm surprised about. Obviously I am happy that there is still developer for this device, particularly the rom of my preference that is the LOS, did not abandon it, so 2..3 or more roms for it does not make as much difference since I just like to use the LOS on my devices, for the stability, performance and commitment of the team to all supported devices, however, is my view, other people have divergent thoughts.

Actually, precisely because of the similar hardware, it's very easy for the L90 ROMs to be ported to the G2M.
One the devs that have made ROMs for the g2m recently told me that he is using the L90 for initial testing and then uses the blobs for the g2m to make it work. (I don't actually know, but I think that the only problem with the L90 blobs is the camera or the WiFi, if anything)
In fact, it's so easy that anyone, with the most basic knowledge of Linux, can get it to work. I think. I haven't actually tried.
So, find a ROM of the L90 that you like and give it a shot. Just follow an online tutorial and you should be able to port it.
If you need any help, just let me know. Or anyone on the forum (though, some, myself included, are busy)

Just make a backup in recovery
If it works, let us know!
I might even make a small zip that modifies the build props to say the correct information.
P.S.: As always, I take no responsibility. Your phone, your fault. (Disclaimer)

In the install script in the zip, there is a command "assert" that checks the device.
Remove that line and it will install.

Nope. Only soft brick (a.k.a. bootloop)
Just restore the backup you (hopefully) made before flashing
Or, wipe /system /data and /cache and then flash a ROM for the g2m.
Still, no responsibility taken

I've got a relatively simple question about the V30. I've got an AT&T LG V30 which I used the frankenstein method to unlock the bootloader and convert to US998.
What I'm trying to understand is whether or not any of the LineageOS ROMs, or the 9.0 ROM, will work on the AT&T converted V30. My takeaway thus far is that they will NOT work on my device, and my attempts to flash the ROMs echo this, but I'm looking for a more definitive answer.
Am I dumb and just "doing it wrong", or is the 931 converted to 998 unable to run these ROMs?
Cheers!

No, they won't for now.
For those wanting more information about former H931 and H933 and AOSP ROMs, see here.
Please read around. There are multiple places saying it doesn't work. I am working on this. It is a slow process.
For a definitive. It does NOT work.

I've been looking, however I wasn't able to find if that was for all ROMs, some ROMs, maybe it works now and not at the time the reply was made, etc. It'd be cool if ROMs had a callout on the top post (as it gets updated when there are new releases) saying "INCOMPATIBLE WITH" or something along those lines. Just a thought.

Ohhh, see, I'm dumb and see the line in the FAQ that says:
Q. Which Models are supported?
A. So far it works well on the H930(G/DS), US998, VS996 and LS998 (use H930 zip). Other models may have broken RIL or bootloop. People with a H932, please use that zip.

And think "oh, I now have a US998 since I converted my 931, so this ROM should work for me."
Most of my lack of making since of this probably stems from the fact that I swear XDA used to have a set of forums for each carriers version of the device, but in the case of the V30, all carrier releases are clumped together under one section.
Thanks for your help! I'll look specifically for 931 in the device list and remember that even though I converted to a US998 via frankenstein, it's not actually a 998.
Cheers!

Yes, previously that was the norm -- even completely separate forums for each carrier, but then most users just focused on THEIR variant/their carrier and missed compatible developments that other variants of the same phone had. "Unified" development is better. TWRP/ROMS for all where possible.*
In this case, if you had a separate H931 or H933 forum, right now there would be no custom ROMs available. All you would have is stock-based ROMs like Boombox. It's also entirely possible we wouldn't have even figured out (together) that someone could flash to US998 in the first place to get bootloader unlock and root. It still might be only original US998 and H930 which have bootloader unlock and root with bootloader unlock codes doled out by LG.
But due to the one forum, and shared development that's how [b @TxanMoe accidentally discovered WTF bootloader unlock while using Frankenstein.[/B] @runningnak3d helped him recover his phone when he ill-advisedly tried to flash his H931 to European H930 after first converting to US998 and running some old Huawei bootloader unlock code he found in an LG G4 forum Yeah, he bricked his phone and we all smirked because he was doing stuff that seemed crazy. But after his phone was recovered, his bootloader was indeed unlocked. That became the foundation of WTF bootloader unlock and root. Without a unified forum, I'm not sure enough people would have paid attention. @TxanMoe would have just bricked his phone and that would have been the end of it; he would have moved onto another phone and we would not have realized the wonderful discovery of the LG bootloader unlock exploit.
There are devs working on the problem of H931 and H933 on AOSP ROMs.
________
* In the Moto Quark forums (Droid Turbo/Moto Maxx/Moto Turbo -- all the same model phone, just different names for some strange reason) the CM dev at the time make sure his stock CM Quark kernel (the foundation of all custom ROMs) was compatible with Droid Turbo when it finally got bootloader unlock a YEAR after all the others. Thus all those variants could run the SAME CM/Lineage-based ROMs and have the same TWRP. The dev that succeeded him @BHB27 kept up that tradition.
It started out as one forum, but then the Droid Turbo owners complained because their bootloader was not unlocked and they were tired of seeing all the "development" the other phone were getting. So, the forums were split almost a year after release, and ONE MONTH LATER the Droid Turbo bootloader was unlocked and suddenly they WANTED all that development back! That's where I saw it was a mistake to split forums. It's better to keep them all together so they can share development.
In the same vein, the V30S should NOT have a separate forum. That was an XDA mistake. It's a V30 Joan, just like all other V30 and all V30S should be here. This is where the V30S ROMs are, this is where the V30S TWRP (Joan) is, this is where the WTF bootloader unlock and root is. They should merge the V30S forum with this one and use that space for something else...
