hello, now with the new eu rules for data roaming in other member countries i wonder if there's an app out there, that can disable data roaming for some countries automatically?
my provider (3 italy) startet with free data roaming yesterday morning.
as my dad has to go other countries very often because of his job, he's really happy to have data roaming available, but from time to time he's also got to visit svizerland which is not a member country of the eu, therefore there is no free data roaming = he'd need to disable data roaming every time he crosses the border <-- as he's not a smartphone extern he's probably going to forget about it every now and than = he'd loose a lot of money
i cam across this app, but it does not seem to work on newer phones

same problem here, i would like to avoid data roaming in switzerland (non eu-country in the eu )
ok i just found this one, but it does not turn of data connection on andrid 5+, therefore it's kind of useless on newer phones (apart from that it notifies you as soon as you leave one of the approved countries)

an app like this one for newer android versions would be more than great

Hello,
Have tried searching xda-developers, google, and apps to no avail.
My SGS2 thinks I am roaming when I am not, so certain Apps will not work as they were intended.
Is there anyway and or app that would override the phone/sim to think I am not roaming.
Thanks in advance for any solutions.
There is a option in settings-wireless and network-mobile network... Data roaming, untick that, i do not know if it does anything for you, and maybe choose automatic network selection, according to sim... other than that, i wouldn't know... It is strange if its roaming all the time in a home network...
When un-checking Data Roaming the phone will no longer connect to Data services as it thinks it is Roaming.
If selecting the network or leaving it to automatic it makes no difference.
I had this same issue before with other phones and was hoping with Apps or Root Access I would be able to finally force the phone to think it was not Roaming.
Did you by any chance use same sim card on all of your phones ? if yes, contact you service provider, because no phone should think its roaming all the time. I doubt it its up to the phone, as apps go, i've haven't heard of any, but if i find anything i'll post it..
Yes I have used the same Sim. It is not one of the main local providers in Spain (Movistar, Vodafone, Orange) but rather Simyo which is owned by KPN (major Dutch company). Simyo only sells sim cards on the Internet and are extremely cheap.
I have checked with the service provider and it is something they force, in that Data connection will only work when phone is set to Roaming. Internet, and Skype works but Rebtel will not activate as it thinks I am roaming.
I have this same issue.
Just upgraded my SGSII (GT I9100M) from the stock Bell firmware to Android 2.3.6 XXKL1 Firmware. After the upgrade it thinks it's roaming when it isn't.
Hiya there,
I switched to Three's One Plan quite a few months ago, and it is seemingly great.
However, whenever I tend to travel through, or visit, places that do not have Three's coverage, it roams onto a partner network (Orange, I think).
As soon as that happens, I get the little "R" on top of the network bars, and a warning triangle notification which says "Data roaming - You havev lost data connectivity because you left our home network with data roaming .. " can't read the rest :/, although a bit of online research says " .. with data roaming turned off." Under the mobile network settings, I have Use Packet Data and Data Roaming enabled, and my APN set to three.co.uk (APN type: default MCC:234 MNC:20)
Any ideas as to why I can't get any data access at all? Customer services tend to get me round and round a circle, and keep asking me to try another phone, which I would if I could right now.
Did u brought that 5L abroad data packet and u can try to flash other modems maybe this help
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
So today I got an p9000 elephone. Awesome phone buy I have problem with data. I'm in Germany and here eplus network is using aldi network, o2 and few similar providers. Sometimes I get R near strength bar. I am unable to use data then even tho I checked data roaming(this happens cause I am not in main network medion mobile but in o2 network ), then I need to use airplane mode and turn it back off so I can regain access to main network. Any advice's on this?
Thanks in advance.
Same problem here. But I live near the border to Austria, so I can't enable data roaming, because I don't want to pay Austrian network... I think national roaming doesn't work with the P9000...
But I tested turning on the roaming option for national roaming. That worked for me, even if there is no internet connection shown... But it's too risky for me to have Austrian network. So it's no solution for my problem.
exactly the same same problem here
Completely disable & block 2G 3G ALL data access on Android via S/W, Hack, or MDM?
Possible to completely disable 2G 3G ALL data on Android directly using some Software on PC or Phone or via MDM?
There have been cases of some people I know (older family) that were brought an Android phone but inadvertently some Data was used without a Data Plan - more expensive.
Lets say instead of buying Feature Phones for some delivery boys, we bought Cheapest Android phones possible - The boss there just wants Phone calls with them and wants to ensure the boys wont be able to Rack up Data use/ bills on the phone -
Are there ways to Disable Data AND/ OR WiFI? Selectively or so? Maybe only have it on when being configured by MDM?

I saw this suggested APN answer, but that means a user/ employee can change it as well. Any "Administrator" kind of way to "block the data" and "disable users ability to circumvent" around it? Some MDM or Software / Hack solutions besides the wrong APN hack that someone could possibly get around? Any way to prevent them getting around as an Admin?
You could have the carrier block it but to be honest it will cause more issues as the device was made to be connected so it will lag and things will be force closing all over the place.

Carrier company are devious people. They canned entire CDMA network with only a 7 day notice, forced millions of people to buy GSM phones and since there was no price diff between a Feature Phone & Android Phone we got cheapest Android on the market for the delivery boys.
BQ S37
Kit Kat 4.4
It has We UI
They are so devious, to get new SIMs they forced us to send new GSM phones to them and then only activated the old CDMA numbers on GSM and then added:
1. Phone numbers of all their Sister companies - Insurance, Healthcare etc etc
2. Set up APNs and data etc on the phone
So I followed the following suggestions:
1. Enter wrong data into APN - Tested it
2. Disabled "Data Traffic" in Toggles
But, the issue is that these 2 can be fixed by someone if so inclined.
Is there any way to DISABLE a Users access to these things?
Hello folks. I am searching for an application that switches off my internet connection from countries that my roaming is not free (meaning non EU countries).
Well the technical challenge would be to keep track and recognise that it is entering in an foreign provider non approved.
Thanks for the help in advance.
